PoliticsBreaking!!! Ugwuanyi Deploys Drones For Security Surveillance, Approves Other Pr by EBMedia(op): 4:59pm On Oct 04, 2019
The Enugu State Executive Council yesterday held its maiden meeting and gave approval for the purchase of eighteen (18) automated drones for air surveillance within and outside the state for effective security management, IGBERE TV reports.

The council meeting which was chaired by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, according to the Commissioner for Information, Nnanyelugo Chidi Aroh, also approved the immediate construction of three pedestrian bridges in Enugu urban to be located at Ogbete Main Market, Enugu, by Holy Ghost Cathedral, Garki Awkunanaw and Mayor Bus-stop by Agbani Road.

The council also approved the overlay of major roads in Enugu city, which were constructed by past administrations, as soon as the rains stop as a lasting measure to take care of potholes created during the rainy season.

Explaining further on the above, Aroh said that the planned overlay of the roads was in addition to the ongoing repairs of identified potholes in Enugu urban and intercity roads. He added that this is to ensure that the major roads across Enugu city are sustained.

On security, the information commissioner further disclosed that the council ratified the earlier approval given by the last State Executive Council on May 28, 2019, approving the purchase of one hundred (100) Innoson Hilux vans to enhance the capabilities of the security agencies in the state. Aroh also stated that 260 vehicles as well as motorcycles and bicycles are to be handed over to Forest Guards, Neighborhood Watch groups, among others, for community policing.

Aroh, who noted that the security vehicles have been supplied, revealed that communication gadgets and other security facilities are being installed on the vehicles to ensure maximum effectiveness.

He added that the choice of indigenous manufactured vehicles from Innoson Motors demonstrates the state government’s commitment to encourage local industries, create jobs for teeming youths and protect local investments.

According to the commissioner, “we have extracted commitment from Innoson Group to establish a service centre in Enugu, consequent upon this purchase. This service centre is going to provide part of the technical services for the maintenance of these vehicles, in addition to a one-year maintenance guarantee that was given to the state government by Innoson Motors in line with our purchase agreement”.

Aroh said that the state government has now completed the recruitment and training of one thousand, seven hundred (1,700) Forest Guards, representing one hundred personnel from each local government area. He added that their salaries and emoluments including other local security groups were deliberated and approved for them “to move into the field immediately to ensure proper security of lives and property of the people”.

He stated that the council, following the request made by the governor, approved an increase in the allowance payable to members of the Neighborhood Watch groups “to boost their morale.”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Sokoto Zonal Office, has arrested four officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for alleged diverting over N84.6 million which was marked out for ad Hoc staff allowances.

This information was made known to the public on Wednesday through a statement by EFCC spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, made available to the commission’s Sokoto Zonal Office.

The petition that led to the arrest It was from one Abdullahi Nasiru who wrote on behalf of all presiding officers that worked for INEC during the 2019 General elections in Zamfara State.

PoliticsGovernor Okezie Ikpeazu Upgrades Aba Shoe Industry, Trains 30 Youths In China by EBMedia(op):
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has said that he plans on making the Aba Shoe Industry to compete globally in shoe manufacturing, Igberetv reports.

To this end, he has begin to train 30 youths in China to learn automated shoe making. The youths are to work in the automated shoe clusters which will soon be operational in the state. This automated shoe clusters will save local shoe manufacturers time and energy, making them produce better quality shoes within a short space of time

Governor Ikpeazu said he purposely decided to do these in order to make local manufacturers in the state to believe in themselves and know that they can manufacture goods which are superior to the ones imported in the country.

He noted that the Aba local manufacturers are not proud to stamp Made-in-Aba on their products but rather choose to put the name of a foreign country on it. The Governor said he has already started leading by example on that aspect, as 95 percent of his clothes are made in Aba with an inscription of 'Proudly made in Aba'.

Governor Ikpeazu further noted that his administration will continue to support youth empowerment in the state.

PoliticsCAN Raises Alarm Over The Appearance Of Strange Faces In The South East by EBMedia(op): 6:39am On Sep 23, 2019
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed concern over what it called influx into the Southeast by unidentified faces.

It raised the alarm on Sunday in a statement signed by its chairman in the Southeast, Bishop Dr. Goddy Okafor and the Secretary, Dr. S.C Nwokolo.

The Christian body, which restated its opposition to the controversial RUGA programme, said such strange faces should be made to leave the zone.

According to the group, “all the people without identity, who are flooding the zone should be stopped by immigration and other law enforcement agencies.

“Also, suspected foreign herders and the killer herdsmen are asked to leave the zone immediately. Most of such foreign and killer herders have been identified in some parts of the zone.”

While commending the Southeast Governors for steps taken so far towards addressing activities of killer herdsmen, it said community policing policy already initiated should be strengthened.

CAN, however, observed with dismay that “the local government chairmen, traditional rulers, President-Generals, (PGs) and councilors are living in the urban areas, thereby abandoning the villagers to their fate.

“We condemn such habit and ask them to start operating from their villages. Let them come back and be the gatekeepers in their villages.”

It maintained its stand that “RUGA should be totally abolished. To this effect, we condemn the inciting statements made by the President of Miyyeti Allah, asking for RUGA in all the States, else there won’t be peace in the country.

“CAN is calling for his arrest, as comments credited to him has always been inciting. Let him be tried by a competent court of law.”

PoliticsSome People Are Providing Shelter For Boko Haram Members -- Army by EBMedia(op): 7:27pm On Sep 22, 2019
The Nigerian Army says some people in the North East have been providing shelter for some Boko Haram terrorists who are running away from parts of Borno and Yobe states, Igberetv reports.

A statement released on Saturday by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations Operation Lafiya Dole, Col. Ado Isa, noted that the development was a result of the military’s unrelenting onslaught on the hideouts of Boko Haram faction of the Islamic State West Africa Province along the Lake Chad region and Northern Borno.

The Command says it received information that the fleeing criminals are staying in homes of “some unscrupulous individuals.”

“These fugitives have been escaping and taking refuge in the residence of some persons in Maiduguri, Damboa, Gajiram, Monguno, Damasak, Biu, Gwoza Dikwa, Benisheikh, Ngamdu, Bama, Gamboru, Konduga, Gajigana and other smaller towns, all in Borno State.

“Others have also run to Damaturu, Gujba, Buni Yadi, Buni Gari, Gashua, Kanamma, Yususufari, Goniri and Kukareta towns in Yobe State, among others,” the statement reads in part.

Isa called on those who are said to be harbouring the criminals to rather report them to the Army.

“While we are making concerted efforts to trace and fish out the fleeing criminals, it is important to inform and warn all those harbouring the fleeing fugitives to report or hand them to the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole immediately.

“Failure to do that would attract severe consequences.

“The Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole wishes to enjoin all well-meaning Nigerians, especially those residing in aforementioned areas, to report any suspicious and strange faces in their communities,” the statement added.

PoliticsNigeria Will Soon Be Consumed, If Unemployment Is Not Addressed Now – Ngige by EBMedia(op): 6:10pm On Sep 22, 2019
Nigeria Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr Chris Ngige, has warned that Nigeria will be consumed soon, if unemployment in the country is not addressed urgently, Igberetv reports.

The minister made this known in Enugu at the weekend where he received an award from the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria , Nsukka (UNN) alongside other alumni of the institution.

While looking at the alarming rate of unemployment in the nation, the minister said that if the problem is not tackled frontally, with the seriousness and commitment it deserved, the country would become one hell of unrest such as Venezuela, adding that the uprising might consume everybody.
He noted that the symptoms of social unrest are very much around in the country , saying that President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has however fashioned out some measures to deal with unemployment in the country. “So, unemployment is growing into a big cankerworm.

It is growing into a very vicious disease condition that has given rise to a lot of anti-social behaviours. And government is seriously worried because if we don’t confront unemployment head on with many measures which we are fashioning out now, then the whole country will be consumed with social unrest. “The symptoms are there.

Boko Haram is a symptom of unemployment in Nigeria. IPOB is a symptom of unemployment and desperation and people getting frustrated. Same goes for banditry in the North West. Same goes for kidnapping all over the country. Avengers – the destruction of oil pipelines, OPC – all these are symptoms of very serious underlying disease condition called unemployment.

“All arsenals, everything will be put into place, so that we can fight unemployment. Otherwise, it will consume everybody. It will consume me and you, pressmen. “It is already showing when you are on traffic and people are knocking on your car window to ask you to give them your phone.

If you don’t give them, they will attack you. That is the big malaise. “One day, they will stop people from eating in their houses. They will knock and say, bring your food and let us share it. We don’t want it to get to that. We have tried as a country. We were on the same pedestal with Venezuela.

We were lucky President Muhammadu Buhari came in; if not, we will be on the same scale with Venezuela. We would have all dispersed into neighbouring countries.

“We would have had social unrest that would be internecine and by now, we would not have solved it. So, we are on with our thinking caps. We are bringing everything we have on the table to see how we do it. “Even the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in the last council reiterated that any contract for construction, infrastructural development will have to indicate the quantum of new jobs to be created by doing so. There are other things we are doing as government to see how we can ameliorate the situation.”

“So, government for the next level will fashion out ways and means to deal with unemployment. We are doing something but I think what we are doing is not enough. Government has used diversification into agriculture to fight unemployment. Yes, it was successful where people agreed to turn themselves into farmers.

We have also used ad-hoc procedures like Npower programme. It is like a drop of water in the Ocean. We have employed through that process 500,000 people, about half a million. “But we have those searching for white collar jobs in the neighbourhood of about 15 million. So, we have to do something; to teach people new vocations, new skills, so that not all will be going for white collar jobs.

“Even if you have a university degree, you can be taughht some skills so that you employ yourself or even get employed somehow. So, we are going to do that or it is on the table.” The UNN College of Medicine at the weekend honoured its alumnus such as Dr Chris Ngige, Dr. Peter Odili, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, for their contributions to the upliftment of the college, and also the international businessman, Prince Arthur Eze as well as Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who received award for good governance.

PoliticsShocking!!! Why I Stole A Two-month Old Baby, Woman Confesses (photo) by EBMedia(op): 4:13pm On Sep 22, 2019
A 39-yr-old lady, Mercy Momoh has been arrested by the operatives of Ekiti Police Command for allegedly stealing a two-month-old baby in Ado-Ekiti, Igberetv reports.

Momoh, who hailed from Edo state, was arrested on Saturday at her residence located at Odo-Aremu area, along old governor’s office in the state capital.

The baby was stolen from his mother, Mrs Funmilayo Sunday on Friday around 1pm at the State Secretariat.

Igberetv gathered that the suspect tricked the baby’s mother, Funmilayo Sunday, to follow her to the State Secretariat under the guise to help collect some relief materials being given by government to flood victims.

The suspect, on getting there, sent the baby’s mother to help her procure recharge card but ran away with the baby before the arrival of the woman.

The command spokesperson, Caleb Ikechukwu, who confirmed the arrest to journalists on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti, said investigation is still on going to unravel the proper situation.

He said: “It is confirmed that the woman who stole Two-Month-Old baby has been arrested by the operatives of the Ekiti Police Command.

“The suspect is Mercy Momoh, a 39-yr-old lady from Edo State. She was apprehended through intelligence made available to the police and would be prosecuted after conclusion of investigation.

“Investigation is still on going. More details will come to reveal what really transpired.

“The Nigeria Police would no longer reveal to the public the means which they effect the arrest of criminals because criminals these days now always take advantage of such information.

“And acting on that information on how they can be arrested they now devise other means of carrying-out their nefarious act without being arrested.

“All I can tell you is that the woman that stole the infant baby has been arrested and investigation is still ongoing

“We call on members of the public to be careful when dealing with strangers. The suspect was apparently nice to the victim, that was why she got the baby easily. Citizens should not be carried away by kind strangers”, Ikechukwu said.

But, a Police source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the police were informed of the incident by the mother of the baby on the same day, at about 4.30pm.

She disclosed that the police detectives immediately swung into action, and on a tip off, traced the suspect to her residence, where she was arrested around 11pm, on Saturday.

According to her, the suspect confessed that she stole the baby because of her dire need of a male child.

She claimed that due to her inability to bear a male child, her husband got married to another woman and may likely throw her out of the house”, he said.

The source added that the Commissioner of police, Amba Asuquo, has directed that the matter to be thoroughly investigated without delay, and necessary action taken for justice to prevail in the case.

PoliticsUnbelievable!!! Lagos Developer, Agents Defraud 279 House-seekers Of N65m (photo by EBMedia(op): 3:02pm On Sep 21, 2019
Igbertv brings a report on how 279 intending tenants were scammed by fraudsters who claim to be house agent and developer. Read the stories of some of the victims below:

Ridwan Adebola was unsettled at home and workplace because the new owner of his rented apartment on Demurin Street, Ketu, Lagos State, could suddenly surface and send him and his family packing.

Adebloa works as a clearing agent at the Apapa port. The six-month notice to quit he was served had elapsed in August, making him to fright that the current landlord could take possession any time soon.

As a responsible father of two, Adebola prepared for the next accommodation to relocate his family immediately he received the notice. Towards that, he worked very hard to increase his savings and by April, he had successfully raised N150,000. He was happy, believing that he would not be caught napping when his tenancy expired.

On his way to work on a Monday morning mid-April, he saw a notice advertising a 15-apartment building for rent at No 1 Karimu Street – about two kilometres away from his residence.

Swiftly, he called the number on the ad and hooked up with one Akin who identified himself as a house agent. Adebola later met with the developer in charge of the building, Teslim Alabi. He inspected the house which was almost completed then and agreed to rent a bed-roomed flat.

Mindful of losing the apartment to other house seekers whom he was told had also indicated interest, he paid N150,000 into Alabi’s bank account and few days later, he paid another N165,000 to complete the payment for the rent, agreement and commission fees. That day in early May, he arrived home with a receipt to the embrace of his wife and his two kids who were happy they had got another home. But few hours before June 23 when he was supposed to get the keys to his supposedly new apartment, it turned out that he had fallen victim to a fraudulent syndicate.

“We were about to sleep around 11 pm on June 22 when my wife’s friend alerted us that there was a crowd in front of a newly rented apartment on Karimu Street, lamenting that they had been defrauded,” Adebola recalled, sounding dejected.

He said, “I rushed down there and met a lot of people protesting. The 15 apartments were already occupied whereas over 200 people paid rent to the developer. I paid N315,000 in two instalments. Rent was N220,000 and N100,000 for commission and agreement fees.

“I begged them before they removed N5,000 from the total sum. Unfortunately, the agent that took me to the house is nowhere to be found and his line is not going through.

“My landlord has sold the building I live in since February and he gave us six months’ notice which ended in August. The owner can send us out any time from now. I have been running around, looking for means to rent another apartment. Where will I take my wife and two children to when they send us out?”

Igberetv learnt that Adebola was one of the 279 intending tenants Alabi and his accomplices allegedly swindled out of about N65m rent. The middle-aged developer was arrested by the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigerian Police in Ikoyi following a petition by the victims. His cohorts are still at large.

Igberetv gathered that the police also invited a suspect who leased the land to Alabi for 20 years.

While police investigation continues, tales of regrets and frustrations have taken the better part of the unsuspecting victims. Many of them had taken loans to pay the rent, thereby leaving them with a double burden.

A hotel worker, Akeem Mohammed, is another victim whose plight dwarfed Ademola’s. He had anticipated Sunday, June 23 with bated breath. Before the deal went awry, the 38-year-old man was supposed to move into one of the flats within the building having paid a rent of N400,000, including commission and agreement fees.

“I received a six-month notice to quit from my landlord and it expired in June,” the father of three said.

He went on, “I got a loan from my employer to pay for the rent. It was a friend who informed me that the building was open for rent. I made a series of inspection before I paid in January when the building was under construction. I paid directly to Mr Teslim Alabi.

“He and his agents told me to come for inspection anytime I like. I went there and saw the progress of the work. They told me and some people I met in the course of my inspection to come on June 23 for our keys.

“On getting there, I met an angry crowd. About 20 people paid for one apartment! In my own flat, we were over 30 persons that met there. It was a woman lawyer who arrived first that got the key.”

After being thrown out by his landlord upon the expiration of the notice, Mohammed, his wife and their three children had turned squatters.

“My wife and our three children are with my sister-in-law while I squat with a friend. I have been struggling, by all means, to raise money to get another apartment while I am still repaying the loan I collected from my employer. School fees of my children are also there, but I am not thinking of that now. I want to get an apartment first,” he remarked, his eyes red with tears.

“At least, 279 people were affected. The building contains ‘five room-and-parlour apartments’ (five units of one-bedroomed flat) while the remaining 10 are self-contained apartments. Mr Alabi collected N400,000 from me. By the time all of us came together and calculated the money, it was about N65m,” Mohammed, who coordinates a platform comprising all the victims, added.

Saturday, September 14, 2019, was a landmark in the life of Regina Onyeke, a Public Administration graduate and fashion designer, as it was the day she turned 30. In lieu of fun, merry and excitement that should characterise the historic day, the single mother was soaked in sorrow.

Five months ago, the native of Benue State relocated to Lagos upon securing employment at a logistics company in the Ogudu area of Lagos metropolis. Cheerful and expectant of better days ahead, she arrived at Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre with her five-year-old son.

Onyeke pleaded with her married cousin to allow her and her son stay with the family for two weeks while she searched for an apartment to rent.

“My cousin recommended an agent who took me to the house on Kareem Street,” she intoned. “I sold my machines to raise the money and pay for the rent. I was supposed to pay N350,000 for a year and six months’ rent. I had paid N250, 000. I was awaiting my June salary to complete the payment when I knew about the fraud. I paid into the man’s (Alabi’s) account on May 15 and he said the house would be ready in June.”

As if the woe was not enough, Onyeke while shuttling between rights groups offices and police formations in search of justice, she got relieved of her hard-fought appointment.

“My boss said I was not regular on duty and he sacked me. I had to take my son back home. My plan was to enrol him in a school here in Lagos in September (this month) when the school resumes,” she disclosed emotively.

A civil servant, who gave her name only as Yetunde, is still struggling to reconcile her memory with the drama that played out at the disputed house on June 23. That day, in the morning, she bid her neighbours in Ikorodu farewell as she crammed her belongings into a pick-up van, heading for her newly-rented apartment.

“I met a large crowd as I arrived at the house,” she exclaimed. “I have yet to come out of the trauma. I paid N250,000 into the man’s account. He assured me that I would move in on June 23. My aim was just to collect the key and move in that Sunday.”

Similar to Yetunde’s unpleasant condition was that of Maria Adegbenle, a mother of two, whose husband also lost N250, 000 to the fraud.

“We had already moved out of our former place. My two children and I now live with my mother-in-law while my husband is squatting with his friend,” she said.

At 32, it is time Stanley Nwankwo, a pharmacist, tied the nuptial knot and plans were in the pipeline. First on the preparation list was to get an apartment relatively befitting of a new couple.

He stated, “I saw the notice at Tipper Garage (Ketu) and called the phone number. It was a lady who picked up the call. She directed me to an agent called Joseph who took me to the house where I met with Teslim (Alabi).

“I paid N350,000 for a room and parlour with two toilets. The rent was N250,000 while the remaining N100,000 was for agreement and commission fees. I had gone there on June 23 to collect the key only to find out that it was a fraud.

“I planned to marry this year but the incident has shattered my plan. It was a huge setback but I believe God has a reason for everything. I borrowed money to pay for the house. I am still repaying the loan. Except there is no God, those people (who defrauded me) won’t go free.”

Emeka Chukwura from Delta State had been visiting “the megacity” on and off since 2012. In May 2018 when he secured employment at an IT company on Victoria Island, he relocated permanently.

As he saved part of his salary, he put up with his relation in Surulere pending when he would have enough money to rent an apartment.

Like most of the victims, he came across an agent, one Prince, in March through a contact number he saw on a notice pasted on the roadside.

“Prince took me round the compound and he told me that once I paid, he would give me the key,” Chukwura disclosed.

“I paid N230,000 directly into Alabi’s account in April 2019 for a self-contained apartment and he gave me a receipt. The rent was N150,000; N80,000 was for the agreement and commission fees as well as the caution fee,” he added.

He explained that when he wanted to move into the apartment in April as it was initially agreed, the fraudsters told him they had some issues with the Lagos State Government which delayed the completion of the house.

He stated, “They begged me to come back in May. I went but they asked me to come back on June 22. They said that was when they would give everybody key. I was there to get the key so that I could move in the following day which was a Sunday. Surprisingly, I saw many people who also rented the same apartments.

“I was looking for an apartment I could afford and the house was perfect for me when I saw it. It was within the range I could afford; that was why I quickly paid not knowing I was dealing with fraudsters.

“I was supposed to leave my cousin’s house six months ago, and now I have overstayed. I just had to beg him. Unfortunately, he is packing out by the end of the year. I have to struggle to raise money by December and get an apartment.

“He married recently and it is like I inconvenience the new couple because the original plan was for me to leave in March. Though the apartment is a two-bedroomed flat, we have so many loads there and everywhere is filled up.”

Chukwura commended the Lagos State Government for taking up the matter, urging it to follow through the case and ensure that their money was refunded.

He added, “We went to a human rights lawyer. Unfortunately, the money she charged us was so much. She requested about N1m to begin the case. We just lost money and you are asking us to bring such an amount of money.

“That is why we are happy that the state government is getting involved in the issue. We hope that the case will be followed through. What we want is a refund of our money.”

An official of a second generation bank in the Anthony area of Lagos, Theresa Amadi, also shared her sad encounter with the conmen.

She had paid rent for a self-contained apartment to Alabi so she could relocate from the one-room apartment she resides in. Part of her plans was that her two children who are based in Ibadan, Oyo State, would move to Lagos.

She explained, “I go to Ibadan every two weeks which is not very convenient for me. I wanted my daughters to be living with me here in Lagos so that I can properly look after them. I paid N175,000 for a self-contained apartment, remaining N25,000 balance which I promised to pay on the day I get the key.

“I got the apartment through an agent called Akeem. His number has not been going through since the developer was arrested. I saw his (Akeem) number in front of the office of an estate agent in Ikosi-Ketu, but I later found out he was not the owner of the office.”

Alabi has been charged and remanded in Ikoyi prison just as the office of the Attorney General of Lagos State is taking up the prosecution. While the judicial process lasts, hundreds of families affected by the fraud continue to bewail their losses. For how long they will wait to get justice, is unknown to them. For now, they are still bemoaning, crying that they get a refund speedily.

PoliticsOyo Guber: APC Rejects Tribunal Ruling by EBMedia(op): 5:56am On Sep 17, 2019
The All Progressives Congress(APC) in Oyo State said on Monday that it received the judgment of the Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in the state with dismay, Igberetv reports.

The party’s Publicity Secretary, Dr Azeez Olatunde, said in a statement on Monday in Ibadan that the State Working Committee would refer the ruling to its legal team for necessary recommendations.

Igberetv reports that the three-member tribunal led by Justice Muhammed Sirajo had in their unanimous judgment dismissed the petition filed by Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the APC candidate in the governorship election for lack of merit.

Adelabu had dragged Gov. Seyi Makinde, who is the PDP candidate in the election, before the tribunal to challenge his victory at the poll.

“The State Working Committee of the Party in its proactive manner has decided to refer the tribunal ruling to our team of legal experts for necessary recommendations which the party hopes to follow appropriately,” it said.

It thanked members of the party for being law-abiding and urged them as well as sympathisers to await the party’s next line of action in due course.

PoliticsIPOB: There Was No Plan To Arrest Kanu's Father-- Abia CP by EBMedia(op): 5:51pm On Sep 16, 2019
The Abia State Police Command has debunked claims by the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) that its personnel were planning to arrest the father of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, Igberetv reports.

IPOB had at the weekend raised alarm about the presence of policemen and other security personnel around the home of their leader. This is even as they (IPOB) claimed that the target of the security agencies was to arrest Kanu’s father who reportedly arrived his compound almost two years after his compound was invaded by soldiers.

On Monday, the State Police Commissioner, CP Ene Okon said “What IPOB has given to you people is completely false.

“As a matter of fact, we received intelligence report that IPOB is going to have a meeting in Nnamdi Kanu’s house.

“They prepared also for a protest over the alleged killing of their members during the operation Python Dance and as an organization that is charged with maintenance of law and order and to ensure peace, based on the intelligence that we gathered, we have to fortify the already existing police points within the area which has been there for the past two years.

“All what we did is to put in more number of police in that area to ensure that there is peace in that area. No policeman entered Nnamdi Kanu’s house or his father’s house.

“IPOB is pushing out propaganda to blackmail the police. The police didn’t even know whether Nnandi Kanu’s father is at home or not. Under what offence will the police go to arrest Nnamdi Kanu’s father; a 90-years-old man?

“If police is anyone to arrest, it is Nnamdi Kanu that the police will arrest because he has been declared wanted and not the father.

“It is a mere propaganda or blackmail to win the sympathy of the Igbos by the IPOB. Remember that IPOB has been proscribed by law and they remain proscribed.

“Any of their activities and gathering is illegal. If we get intelligence of their gathering which will disrupt the peace of the area, I don’t think that we should sit back and look at them disturbing the peace of the area,” Okon stated

CrimeHow To Protect Your Whatsapp Account And Other Online Accounts From Hackers by EBMedia(op): 2:59pm On Sep 16, 2019
Internet hackers are now everywhere! They look for every way possible to access and hijack your online accounts completely. Now, they use a medium which many people least expect them to be able to exploit. That medium is WhatsApp!

Below are their strategies and steps you can take to secure your account.

1. It is advisable for every WhatsApp user to upgrade the app security as a good measure to protect your account from being hacked.

2. Hackers are now taking over people’s accounts, and the not too good aspect of it is that, you are not likely to know that your account has been hacked and that your phone number has been changed without your knowledge.

3. If you are very sensitive, the only thing you observe is that you are being exited from different groups you belong on WhatsApp.

4. Or friends may call to inform you when the hacker starts sharing contents they suspect are not likely to come from you, but if you are used to sending such messages, (meaning the hacker is cloning – replicating you), it may be long before people suspect they’ve been relating with a wrong person!

5. Same hacking style applies to Facebook, as Facebook owns WhatsApp and both accounts are somehow linked. So, if it is possible to take over your WhatsApp account without your knowledge, they can do same for the Facebook.

6. After taking over the account, they will change the number to their own number in all groups you belong and that number will still carry your name, while they post messages as if you are the poster.

7. It could be very embarrassing the type of messages they share with your name – they are mostly out to scam people or share X-rated adult contents with phishing scripts to steal passwords and credit cards information once you click on the content.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

1. On your WhatsApp, kindly go to Setting, from there, go to Account, then go to Two-Step Verification.

2. You will be asked to type Six-Lettered Code. After you do that, you are also asked to give an email address. Please, supply every information and click OK to submit.

3. Ensure you safe your password, you may store it in your passworded notepad, or write it somewhere so you won’t forget, as occasionally, you may be asked to input your password when attempting to use your account.

3. Once you do that, your account is secure. Whoever attempts to hack into your account will be asked to input the secret code, meaning that it is only you or whoever you authorise that can gain access into your account.

4. You can also do this to all your online accounts: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Emails, LinkedIn, and others.

PoliticsBuhari Must Obey Court Judgement On Payment Of Electricity Contractors ― SERAP by EBMedia(op): 2:43pm On Sep 16, 2019
A right group known as Socio-Economic Right and Accountability Project (SERAP), has called on President Muhammadu Buhari, to without any further delay, give heed to the judgment of Justice Chuka Obiozor of a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos State, Nigeria, directing the immediate release of details of payments to all defaulting and allegedly corrupt electricity contractors and companies since 1999, Igberetv reports.

According to a statement issued by the deputy director of Kolawole Oluwadare, Justice Obiozor had in July delivered a judgment in a Freedom of Information suit number FHC/L/CS/105/19, brought by SERAP, ordering the Federal Government (FG) to disclose and publish the names of companies and the whereabouts of the contractors paid by successive governments to carry out electricity projects but disappeared with the money without executing any projects.

The statement further revealed in an open letter dated September 13, 2019, that: the enforcement of this judgment will be a special moment for the government’s anti-corruption agenda and the sovereignty of rule of law, as it would go a long way in protecting the integrity of our legal system.

“We urge you to make the best efforts to advise and persuade President Buhari and Mr Sale Mamman, Minister of Power to begin to take steps that will ensure the full enforcement of this ground-breaking judgment.

“Advising and persuading Mr Buhari and Mr Mamman to enforce the judgment against corrupt contractors and companies would show your commitment to the rule of law, and contribute to addressing the culture and legacy of corruption in the power sector.

“It will show that you are not just Mr Buhari’s lawyer but also a defender of the Nigerian Constitution of 1999 (as amended), the rule of law and public interest within the government, something which Justice Obiozor’s judgment seeks to serve.

“It is emphatically the province and constitutional duty of the Attorney General to advise on the enforcement of judicial decisions.

“It is important to do so here if power sector contractors and companies are not to continue to evade justice for their alleged corruption.

“Taking action as recommended would be in keeping with Nigerians’ expectations, and entirely consistent with Buhari’s oft-expressed commitment to ‘kill’ corruption – whether by public officials or private contractors—and help to build citizens’ trust and confidence in the ability of this government to take head-on the systemic corruption in the power sector.

“Our democracy needs courts so that public officials and private actors including contractors can be held accountable for any infraction of Nigerian anti-corruption laws and international commitments.

“Constitutionalism and the rule of law are not in conflict with democracy; rather, they are essential to it.

“We hope that the aspects highlighted will help guide your actions in advising and persuading Mr Buhari and Mr Mamman to enforce and implement Justice Obiozor’s judgment. We would be happy to provide further information or to discuss any of these issues in more detail with you.

“A certified true copy of the judgment is enclosed with this letter for your attention and urgent action.”

Igberetv recalls that SERAP had in February filed the FoI suit against the Federal Government and former Minister of Power, Mr Babatunde Fashola.

The former minister then responded, saying that: “the Ministry has searched for the requested information on details of alleged contractors and companies but we could not find it from our records."

PoliticsWhy I Am Dumping PDP For APC ― Former Kogi Speaker, Olafemi by EBMedia(op): 10:17pm On Sep 15, 2019
The People's Democratic Party (PDP) may have it tough in the upcoming governorship election in Kogi State. There are strong indication that major stakeholders in the party are set to decamp to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Igberetv gathered that some strong members of the party paid a courtesy called on governor Yahaya Bello in Abuja and promised to decamp and work for his re-election in November.

Sources reliable to Igberetv around the Lugard House also disclosed that one of the strong members of PDP in the state and former acting governor of the state, Chief Clarence Olafemi recently paid a visit to the governor at Lugard House Lokoja.

It was further gathered that both parties had a fruitful discussion as Olafemi is aiming to decamp back to APC.

However, Chief Clarence Olafemi has cleared the air on why he visited the governor saying he visited the governor because of impunity in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said he will soon dump PDP for APC in the state.

He noted that PDP has cheated on him several times and he cannot continue to stay in the party. He pointed out that he is one of the strong member of PDP in the state, yet the National Working Committee of the party failed to recognize his impute and effort for the party.

His words,” I was the running mate to Jubril Issah Echocho in 2015 governorship primary election of the party but we were later replaced by the party and brought in Captain Idris Wada and Yomi Awoniyi as running mate without any reason.

“In 2019 general election, I was one of the Senatorial aspirants from Kogi West, I was denied from contesting as the party imposed Senator Dino Melaye who just decamped from APC back to PDP.

“My Governorship aspirant in the just concluded primary of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Idris was denied of the Governorship ticket of the party by some power to be in the party and gave victory to Engineer Musa Wada because they hate Alhaji Ibrahim Idris the former governor of the state.

“With all these impunities, how do you expect me to continue staying in PDP? I am not the first person to decamp from one party to another. President Mohammadu Buhari and my mentor Alhaji Abubakar Atiku all decamped from one party to another. I am not going to be the first or the last.

I had a fruitful discussion with Governor Yahaya Bello and I am very satisfied with the outcome of our meeting.

Chief Olafemi, who is also the former speaker Kogi State House of Assembly noted that he will follow the due process when he is going to decamp from PDP to APC stressing that he will do it openly because it is a rightful decision.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, disclosed this in a statement made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Sunday.

Sunday Ebubechukwu on that fateful day raised an alarm which attracted sympathizers to the scene at Obiagu on the ground that someone whom he allegedly had handshake with may have caused the instant weakness of his manhood.
