IgbereTV reports that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has reacted to the court Judge which struck out the rape allegation made by Busola Dakolo against Pastor Biodun Fatoyibo and also awarded N1m as damages in favour of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly Founder.

Pastor Bayo Oladeji, media aide of the President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Revd Samson Ayokunle who spoke to Vanguard on his behalf said the image of the Nigerian church has been dented by the rape allegation and the court proceedings.


The CAN President also urged Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo and Busola Dakolo to put away all that happened and reconcile.

“While we note that the image of the Nigerian Church and its leadership was dented before and during the court proceedings, CAN urges Pastor Fatoyinbo and Mrs Dakolo, to put away all that has transpired and reconcile.

“The Church preaches forgiveness and reconciliation, and that is our position as the umbrella body of Christians in the country.

“We begrudge neither Pastor Fatoyinbo nor Busola Dakolo, and urge them to extend a similar hand of love and fellowship to each other" he said.

IgbereTV reports the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) have concluded arrangement to sign a $1.16 million grant as part funding for the NNPC-Abuja Independent Power Project (IPP) modelled to generate 1,350 megawatts of electricity to alleviate the power challenge in the country.

This was disclosed at a business meeting between the Management of NNPC and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency at the NNPC Towers, Abuja, on Thursday, where both parties agreed to close out the deal on 1st December, 2019.

The Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mallam Mele Kyari, said that the plan by the corporation to build the 1,350mw power plant in Abuja was part of the national strategy to monetize the abundant natural gas resources in the country.
A statement signed by the Acting Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division stated that the USDTA grant was to complement the ongoing feed project in order to make the Abuja IPP initiative more bankable for strategic investors’ participation.

“As a state-owned oil company and enabler organization, we know that our investment in the Abuja 1,350mw IPP will increase energy supply level with great impact on the nation’s economy. Therefore, the USTDA grant is timely to make it a bankable project that would attract foreign direct investment into the country”, he said.

The GMD assured the U.S. team that every money given as grant to the corporation will be fully utilized and accounted for.
“This company is focused on making our systems and processes transparent and accountable and that is why we are engaging world class institutions with good track record in execution of our projects”, the GMD explained.

He called on the USTDA to look beyond feasibility studies to actual delivery of the project, stressing that the power plant project has a lot of viable investment opportunities for all investors.

In her remark, the Country Manager, Power Africa and the leader of the USTDA delegation, Jullian Foerster, stated that her organization was determined to work with the corporation to sign off on the grant not later than 1st December, 2019.

She said that USTDA was open to other business opportunities in the coming year, 2020, noting that NNPC’s strategic role as a key player in the oil and gas industry made the U.S. Agency to “jump at the opportunity to work on this deal” of providing support in the form of a grant.

IgbereTV reports that, Busola Dakolo, wife of music star, Timi Dakolo, has reacted to the court ruling in favour of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA Pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo

On Thursday, a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory dismissed the rape case filed by Busola Dakola against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of COZA.


The court sitting in Bwari, Abuja on Thursday dismissed the case against the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly Senior Pastor on the ground that it amounts to injustice and an abuse of judicial process.

According to the ruling, the case is empty and purely sentimental.

The presiding judge, Justice Oathman A. Musa, said the case was aimed more at cruelty than obtaining justice.


The court also awarded costs of N1,000,000 against Busola Dakolo and held that the fine should have been 10 times more because the court’s time was wasted.

Reacting in a statement signed by her lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, Busola who rejected the verdict, promised to appeal at a superior court.

“We have received several calls after the ruling of the high court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting at Bwari this morning seeking our view on the decision of the court, hence, this statement.


“The court ruled that the matter is statute-barred because the events that crystallised to the cause of action took place 16 years ago and that the claimant Mrs. Busola Dakolo has only six years within which to seek redress in court in line with the statute of limitation.

“We are mindful of the decision as delivered by the court, presided over by the Hon. Justice A.O Musa. We are equally observant of the fact that the Court omitted to address the cause of action, the subject matter of the suit in determining whether it has jurisdiction to entertain the said matter.

“While we acknowledge the time of the court, we know in accordance with the Nigerian judicial system that the Court’s decision is not final as it is glaringly contestable.



“For all intent and purposes, having seen several sponsored misleading news reports in the media, we are duty-bound to state that the court has not and did not exonerate Biodun Fatoyinbo. As it stands, the substance of the matter has not received any judicial attention.

“Biodun Fatoyinbo through his lawyers have only argued that the court should not allow the matter to proceed to trial because it is an event that occurred long ago and hence out of time.

“We shall therefore in this circumstance approach a superior court to intervene for a better appreciation, and take a more expansive view of the suit considering that the subject matter is one that is novel in our clime.” the statement added.

IgbereTV reports that Gov. Mohammed Badaru of Jigawa predicted a landslide victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming governorship election in Bayelsa State.

Governor Badaru, who is also the chairman of APC committee for Bayelsa election, made this known while speaking with State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, on Friday.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Nov. 16 for the governorship election in both Bayelsa and Kogi States.

He said, “We are very prepared for the Bayelsa governorship election, and the stake is open for us to take.

“Our chances are very high; you can see our rally; you can see that of PDP; you have seen and heard of many big wigs going out of PDP and joining us, and that is a clear indication that they are with us.

“My advice to the people of Bayelsa is just to remain peaceful and do one man, one vote and we know we will win.

“We will not tolerate any incidence of rigging or ballot box snatching and if it did that way, APC will win with a landslide.’’

He also said that the Federal Government had promised to provide security for a hitch-free conduct of the election.

He also said that he was not aware of the recruitment of 1000 thugs for Kogi election by Gov. Yahaya Bello.

He said, however, that no member of the party would go against the law.

“The governor there in Kogi is responsible for the security of the state and he has done well in terms of security.

He asked, How can they accuse him of employing thugs?’

IgbereTV reports that the United States of America has warned its citizens not to travel to some states in Nigeria categorised as "high-risk aeas”.

This was made known in the publication of the Bureau of Consular Affairs in which 14 Nigerians states were listed with a “do not travel” instruction. US urged its citizens to reconsider travel to Nigeria “due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping, and maritime crime, which includes kidnappings, hijackings, boardings, theft, etc. Some areas have increased risk.

“Do Not Travel to Borno and Yobe States and Northern Adamawa State due to terrorism. Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, and Yobe states due to kidnapping.

"Coastal areas of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers, Delta, and Rivers states (with the exception of Port Harcourt) due to crime, civil unrest, kidnapping, and maritime crime,” US advised its citizens

Also, it said that due to the security condition in Nigeria, their citizens living in many parts of the country might be unable to get emergency services.

IgbereTV reports that Nigerians has lambasted a Nigerian journalist known as Fisayo Soyombo over his comment on Twitter, condemning the poor quality of local rice produced in Nigeria.

Fisayo Soyombo is an investigative journalist, a former editor of The Cable and a contributor to Aljazeera who got the praise of Nigerians after writing a report uncovering the corruption in the Nigeria's criminal Justice system.

He spent two weeks in detention — five days in a Police cell and eight as an inmate in Ikoyi Prison — to track corruption in Nigeria’s criminal justice system, after he feigned to commit an offence for which he was arrested by the Nigeria Police.

Many Nigerians are after him on Twitter after condemning Nigeria local rice.
