Arise TV News presenter and author, Rufai Oseni has added his voice to the recent tribal arguments amongst Lagosians over the 'ownership' of Lagos State, IGBERETV reports.

The argument got intense following the campaign of Labour Party's Lagos gubernatorial aspirant, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour whose mother is Igbo. Also, Labour Party's presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi who is from Anambra state won Lagos State in the just concluded presidential poll against former Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu.

In a tweet on Wednesday, March 15, Oseni said Lagos was a British colony until it was ceded to a Lagos Monarch

He went on to state that some of the developments in the state were made by the British. He also shared a photo showing the treaty cessation document between the then British government and Oba Dosunmu.

Oseni refused to acknowledge the positions that "Lagos is no man's land," or that "it is a Yoruba land".

He wrote;

PoliticsElections: Myth Of Political Structure Has Been Destroyed In Nigeria – Falana by EBMedia(op):
2023 Elections: The Myth of Political Structure Has Been Destroyed In Nigeria – Femi Falana

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN said that the the 2023 elections has shown that the myth of political structure has been destroyed in Nigeria, IGBERETV reports.

While being interviewed on Channels Television, Falana listed the positives recorded from the 2023 elections.

“There are some positive developments that were recorded. For instance, the myth of these political structures has been destroyed whereby people have shown that we are the structure, and the people are the structure ultimately." He told Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, March 13.

“Secondly, young people have also shown this time around that we are going to determine the future of our country. Thirdly, you no longer have to be a moneybag to contest elections in Nigeria. Another development is that whereas the Senate chamber has been converted to a resting home for former governors; this time around, many of the governors lost their seats, they lost in the election and so they won’t be able to go back to the national assembly.

“The other development is that sitting governors and sitting president could not win their states for their political parties. So, in spite of the challenges, a number of positive developments have been recorded by our country, and of course, I think the most significant is the use of BVAS for accreditation. It has improved the accreditation of voters,” Falana said.

However, he lamented the failure of the Independent National Electoral Commission to upload results to their central server electronically in real-time as they promised ahead of the elections but said that after postponing the governorship and state assembly elections by one week, no excuse will be entertained by INEC again by Nigerians.

CrimeMan Sentenced To Death By Hanging For Killing Father In Akwa-Ibom by EBMedia(op): 11:18am On Mar 14, 2023
Akwa Ibom State High court sitting in Etinan Local Government Area of the State on Monday, March 13, sentenced a 37-year-old man, Moses Abdon Edo, to death by hanging for killing his father, Abdon Peter Edo, IGBERETV reports.

In a one hour judgement, the Court presided over by Justice Ezekiel Enang held that the convict, an okada rider, who is an indigene of Ikot Ukobo in Nsit Ubium LGA had confessed in his statement that he killed his father on 29th July, 2015, in his house and buried him beside his son’s grave.

Justice Enang also said that the convict, who is the first son of the deceased, also confessed that he pursued his father to the backyard of his old building and hit his head on the wall where he died on the spot over landed property.

The Court held that once a confessional statement is positive, direct and unequivocal of fact, it is sufficient to secure conviction of the accused even without the evidence being collaborated.

Justice Enang said in a charge of murder, what the prosecution must prove beyond reasonable doubt, are the ingredients of the offence that the deceased died and that the death was caused by the act of the accused with an intention to kill or cause him grievous bodily harm.

The Court held that by smashing the head of his father on the wall, the convict had intended to kill him.

Justice Ezekiel Enang found Moses Edo guilty of murder and ordered that he should be hanged or lethal substance injected inside him until he is dead.

Following the judgement, the case, which was prosecuted by the State Ministry of Justice and defended by the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, has laid to rest, the eight years of prosecution of the matter at the trial Court.

Family'Ashawo' Can Tackle 10 Men Daily; You Have No Excuse Not To Satisfy Your Husband by EBMedia(op): 1:03pm On Mar 09, 2023
If 'Ashawo' Can Tackle 10 Men Daily, Then You Have No Excuse Not To Satisfy Your Husband - Nigerian Man

A Nigerian man, Aderoju Dave Adewuyi, has said that women who are not in the mood to have sex with their husbands should leave the marriage so their house girls can take over, IGBERETV reports.

Adewuyi stated this in his comment on a Facebook group post on Wednesday.

He said if a sex worker "can tackle 10 men in a day' then there is no reason a woman should not always be in a mood to have sex with her husband.

The creator of the post wrote;

"Stop sleeping with your house girls.
Each day you climb that girl, you reduce your wife's worth, value and respect."
Adewuyi replied;

“LISTEN EVERYONE. AM VERY SORRY FOR THIS COMMENT BUT THAT IS THE TRUTH. IF A HOUSEWIFE VALUE HERSELF SHE WILL BE VALUED. BUT VERY MANY OF THEM DIDN'T VALUE THEM SELF AT ALL. FOR EXAMPLE, WHAT IS THE MEANING OF, AM NOT IN THE MOOD? IN MARRIAGE? IF ASHAWO CAN TACKLE TEN MEN TO SATISFACTION IN A DAY. YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE. SO GET OUT OF THAT MARRIAGE FOR THE HOUSE HELP THAT IS READY TO TAKE OVER FROM YOU. LET NO LADY COME AFTER ME. BCOZ. I GO SHOCK YOU OOO."

PoliticsOhaneze Ndigbo Rejects Result Of Presidential Election by EBMedia(op): 6:28am On Mar 03, 2023
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has rejected the results of the February 25, 2023 Presidential election, declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, IGBERETV reports.

On Wednesday, March 1, INEC declared Tinubu as the winner of the election.

In a statement released, the National Vice President of the organization, Damian Okeke-Ogene, said the results released were marred by “monumental irregularities” and the failure of the commission to follow its guidelines in conducting the election.
He urged Nigerians to remain calm, adding that the last might not have been heard of the 2023 presidential election.

“With voting and declaration of results over, other processes will follow. I am sure that many Nigerians will, on their own, go to court to challenge the outcome of the exercise. Many people have not accepted the declaration and many do not believe that they have a President-elect yet.

This is the worst election conducted by INEC. Imagine our President, Muhammadu Buhari, saying during one of the campaigns that Bola Tinubu is the next president at a time the election had not been conducted, which was an indication that the election was even rigged before it was conducted.

The INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, was busy promising Nigerians that their votes would count and that the votes would be transmitted from the polling units to INEC server, only for the commission to do everything manually with the attendant corrupt practices. As it turned out, many Nigerians voted, but their votes did not count, which was frustrating.”

PoliticsPresident Buhari Congratulates President-Elect, Bola Tinubu by EBMedia(op): 6:15am On Mar 01, 2023
Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Nigeria's President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on his victory at Nigeria's 2023 Presidential Election held on 25th February 2023, IGBERETV reports.

PRESIDENT BUHARI CONGRATULATES WINNER OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU

President Muhammadu Buhari heartily congratulates the winner of the (2023) Presidential Election, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Reacting to the results just announced, President Buhari said:

“I congratulate His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory. Elected by the people, he is the best person for the job. I shall now work with him and his team to ensure an orderly handover of power.

“The election was Africa’s largest democratic exercise. In a region that has undergone backsliding and military coups in recent years, this election demonstrates democracy’s continued relevance and capability to deliver for the people it serves.

“Within Nigeria, the results reveal democracy’s ripening in our country. Never has the electoral map shifted so drastically in one cycle. In the presidential elections, states in all regions across the nation changed colour. Some amongst you may have noticed my home state amongst them. The winning candidate did not carry his own home state either. That happens during a competitive election. Votes and those that cast them cannot be taken for granted. Each must be earned. Competition is good for our democracy. There is no doubt the people’s decision has been rendered in the results we look at today.

“That is not to say the exercise was without fault. For instance, there were technical problems with electronic transmission of the results. Of course, there will be areas that need work to bring further transparency and credibility to the voting procedure. However, none of the issues registered represent a challenge to the freeness and fairness of the elections.

“I know some politicians and candidates may not agree with this view. That too is fine. If any candidate believes they can prove the fraud they claim is committed against them, then bring forward the evidence. If they cannot, then we must conclude that the election was indeed the people’s will – no matter how hard that may be for the losers to accept. If they feel the need to challenge, please take it to the courts, not to the streets.

“However, to do the latter means they are not doing it in the interest of the people, but rather to inflame, to put people in harm’s way and all for personal, selfish gains.

“After a degree of polarization that necessarily accompanies any election, it is now time to come together and act responsibly. I call on all candidates to remember the peace pledge they signed just days before the election. Do not undermine the credibility of INEC. Let us now move forward as one. The people have spoken.”

Politics2023 Elections: FG To Obasanjo: Don’t Truncate Electoral Process by EBMedia(op): 2:07pm On Feb 28, 2023
The Federal Government has asked former President Olusegun Obasanjo not to truncate the 2023 general elections with his ‘’inciting, self-serving and provocative letter'' on the elections held last Saturday, February 25, IGBERETV reports.

In an open letter addressed to President Buhari on Monday, February 27, Obasanjo raised concerns over the discrepancies in last Saturday, February 25 elections. He stated that there are allegations of some INEC officials being compromised and paid to do what they are not supposed to do. He said to avoid causing uproar in the country, the right thing must be done. He suggested that in areas were the elections were flawed, a repeat should be conducted on March 7.

Reacting to his letter, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, in a statement released, said what the former President “cunningly” framed as an “appeal for caution and rectification” was nothing but a calculated attempt to undermine the electoral process and a wilful incitement to violence.

“Though masquerading as an unbiased and concerned elder statesman, former President Obasanjo is a known partisan bent on thwarting, by subterfuge, the choice of millions of Nigerian voters'' Mohammed said

The Minister expressed shock and disbelief that a former President could purportedly throw around unverified claims and amplify “wild allegations” picked up from the streets against the electoral process. He accused the former President of organizing “perhaps the worst elections” since Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999, during his tenure, adding that he is the “least qualified” to advise a “President whose determined effort to leave a legacy of free, fair, credible and transparent election is well acknowledged within and outside Nigeria.”

“As the whole nation waits with bated breath for the result of last Saturday’s national elections, amid unnecessary tension created by professional complainants and political jesters, what is expected from a self-respecting elder statesman are words and actions that douse tension and serve as a soothing balm.

Instead, former President Obasanjo used his unsolicited letter to insinuate, or perhaps wish for, an inconclusive election and a descent into anarchy; used his time to cast aspersion on electoral officials who are unable to defend themselves, while surreptitiously seeking to dress his personal choice in the garb of the people’s choice. This is duplicitous,” he said

The Minister reiterated to the former President that organizing elections in Nigeria is no joke, considering that the voter population of 93,469,008 in the country is 16,742,916 more than the total number of registered voters in 14 West African nations put together at 76,726,092.

“With a deployment of over 1,265,227 electoral officials, the infusion of technology to enhance the electoral process, and the logistical nightmare of sending election materials across our vast country, INEC seems to be availing itself creditably, going by the preliminary reports of the ECOWAS Electoral Observation Mission and the Commonwealth Observer Group, among other groups that observed the election.

Therefore, those arrogating to themselves the power to cancel an election and unilaterally fix a date for a new one, ostensibly to ameliorate perceived electoral infractions, should please exercise restraint and allow the official electoral body to conclude its duty by announcing the results of the 2023 national elections. After that, anyone who is aggrieved must follow the stipulated legal process put in place to adjudicate electoral disputes, instead of threatening fire and conjuring apocalypse,” he said.
