A building under construction along Isi Ewu road, Nbodo Community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, collaped on Saturday, February 4, leaving at least three persons who were labourers at the site dead, IGBERETV reports.

The workers were on site at the two-storey building when it caved in on Saturday evening leaving many of them injured and three feared dead.

The Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Rivers State Command, Olufemi Ayodele, who confirmed the incident, said preliminary investigation revealed that the rods, pillars and blocks used in the construction of the two-storey building were far below the required specifications.

He said;

"It is high time Nigerians began to take responsibility for their actions most especially when life of humans are involved. The collapse of the two-storey building at Aluu in Ikwerre Local Government Area could have actually been avoided if standardised materials and right specifications were used. Owners of buildings and landlords are hereby advised to be wary of desperate and quack building contractors who cares only about their pockets and not the lives of innocent people.

The Rivers State Commandant lauded the Chairman Ikwerre Local Government Area, Hon. Samuel Nwanosike for mobilising three pay loaders and providing the necessary logistics. That effort enhanced the rescuing of the victims and recovery of three corpses during a joint rescue operations by NSCDC, National Emergency Management Agency, other security agencies and well-meaning people who worked tirelessly to savage the situation."

Niger State Police Command has arrested a suspected ritualist, 38-year-old Abdulrahman Woru, for being in possession of a human skull at Babana, Borgu Local Government Area of the state on January 24, IGBERETV reports.

In a statement released, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said the suspect who resides in Babana, is from Gbesewona village of Benin Republic.

When a search was conducted in his house a human skull, three pieces of suspected human ribs, two idols and cash sum of 5000 CFA of Benin Rep currency were recovered. During interrogation, he confessed that the human skull recovered belonged to him. He claimed that he migrated from Benin Rep to Nigeria about four years ago for his business, without any immigration document, and that he is a traditional medicine practitioner.

Abiodun also said the suspect further claimed that he recently travelled to Benin Rep, and while entering Nigeria, he saw a bag on the road with the skull in it.

"He (suspect) said he tied it on his motorcycle and took it home, because he believed it will be useful for his work, and he did not report to the Police. The Command appreciates the support of Nigerlites and members of the public, and urge them not to relent by informing the police when they see something strange in their environment for quick intervention", the statement read.

According to Abiodun, the suspect will soon be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction for prosecution.

A youth corper has shared a video showing the deplorable state of the accommodation he and his colleagues were given at their place of primary assignment, IGBERETV reports.

The video showed the rooms, toilets and bathrooms looking shabby.

A white woman was filmed looking unkempt and disoriented at Sangotedo in Ajah, Lagos State, IGBERETV reports.

She was seen on Friday evening, January 20, 2023.

The woman, wearing a sleeveless top and skirt, had red spots – like syringe marks – all over her body and a cigarette in her hand.

A crowd gathered to watch her in concern.

Two members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Commander of Ebubeagu in Ogboji Ward, Ezza North Local Government Area, Charles Nwankwo, have been killed by gunmen in Ebonyi State in Mkpuma Akpatakpa Community in Izzi Local Government Area, IGBERETV reports.

They were reportedly attending an APC meeting late Friday January 20, in the community when the gunmen stormed the venue and opened fire on all present.

The hoodlums, who were said to be two in number, reportedly operated with a motorcycle. They fled the area after completing their mission.

It was reported that two persons were confirmed dead while two others who were injured are receiving treatment at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki.(AE-FUTHA).

They also killed one Charles Nwankwo who is the Commander of Ebubeagu in Ogboji Ward, Ezza north local government area.

They stormed the house of the Ebubeagu commander around 1am and shot him dead. The source noted that the gunmen carted away his motorcycle and gun.

"How can I deal with a wife who pretends to be sick whenever I ask for sex... I regret to be in such a marriage!!!," he lamented on a Christian Facebook group on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

Three family members of kidnapped Osun farmers, who went to deliver the ransom for their release, have been detained by the kidnappers, IGBERETV reports.

The victims, Samuel Oladotun and Tobiloba Fashola, were abducted while returning from the farm at the Oke-Osun area in Ileogbo, headquarters of Ayedire local government on Wednesday evening, January 11, 2023.

The abductors initially demanded N10 million ransom before they agreed to N6 million after negotiation.

A family source, who spoke to newsmen, said Samuel’s elder brother, Sunday, and two other relatives, who went to deliver the ransom to the kidnappers at Epe, a border town with Kwara and Kogi, on Monday, were detained.

He added that their abductors are now demanding another N24 million before they will release the victims.

The spokesperson of Royal Ambassador, the organisation the victims belonged to in the Baptist Church, Olanihun Zechariah, also confirmed the development.

“It saddens our heart to inform you that those that took the ransom money to the kidnappers that kidnapped our brothers Ambassador Samuel Oladotun and Fashola Tobiloba have also been detained after paying the ransom without the release of the two brothers. We now have five(5) people in the den of kidnappers. The kidnappers are now requesting for additional 24 million for their release. We are deeply sorrowful for this turn of events. I want to use this opportunity to call on every member to please raise their voice to God now in intercession," the statement read.

Meanwhile, Governor Ademola Adeleke, in a statement by his spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, directed security agencies to track and rescue the victims.

He confirmed that the kidnappers detained the three persons who went to drop the ransom, and that the kidnappers are now asking for another N24 million.

The Governor also directed the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to take up the matter and ensure the victims return home safe. He assured their relatives that everything possible will be done to rescue their loved ones.

Unknown gunmen carried out an attack on the secretariat of the Ihiala Local Government Area in Anambra state in the early hours of today, January 12, killing three persons, IGBERETV reports.

It was gathered that the attackers first engaged the vigilante men who were securing the secretariat in a gun duel, resulting in the death of three vigilante men and the death of one of the gunmen.

According to the residents, the assailants set fire on many of the buildings in the secretariat including the LGA administrative block, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office, the Health office building, the Youth Corpers (NYSC) office, the Education Office was completely burnt, and the National Civil Defense Office was burnt.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, said items recovered from the scene include two locally made IED launcher, seven undenoted IED, forty pieces of live cartridges, fifteen live 7.62MM Ak47 ammunition, knives, charms, and other dangerous weapons.

''The attackers had already murdered, three vigilante operatives on duty, beheaded one and set five buildings ablaze with IED and petrol bombs. The joint force operatives engaged the arsonist/attackers, and obstructed them from causing further damages, while some escaped with bullet wounds. The bodies of the victims were recovered and joint operations are still ongoing. Further development shall be communicated'', he said.

A 26-year-old woman, Adeboye Abosede, and her son, Adeyemi Ibrahim, have been declared missing in Ogun State, IGBERETV reports.

Mother and son were last seen in her shop at Imobido quarters in Iperu-Remo area of the state on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.

According to a report, she was approached by fraudsters in her shop, where a Ghana must go bag and a candle were found.

Abosede was said to have begged her co-shop owners to borrow her money for an urgent matter.

She later left her shop with her son to find more money and has not returned since then.

A yet-to-be-identified man has been confirmed dead after drowning while riding on a jet ski at the Lekki-Ikoyi inland waterways in Lagos State, IGBERETV reports.

A statement released by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, says the victim drowned as a result of over speeding. He said that efforts are being made to recover his body from the lagoon.

“It was discovered by the agency’s responders on duty at the lekki base that an unidentified male adult drowned at the Lekki-Ikoyi inland waterways as a result of over speeding while he was riding on a jet ski at the said location.

"Efforts are ongoing involving LASWA divers and LASEMA officials to retrieve the body of the adult male whose body has unfortunately sunk too deep to be rescued," the statement read.

A yet-to-be-identified young man has been killed, with his body burnt and dumped inside a gutter at the Oke Aro, Akure, the Ondo State capital, by suspected cult members, IGBERETV reports.

Residents of the community woke up on Thursday, January 5, to find a sack with the body of the deceased dumped in the drainage.

A resident of the area who spoke to newsmen, Bayo Oladejo, said;

“This is a cult war. They dealt with the victim. They not only killed him but also set his body ablaze. The victim was dumped at that particular location as there was no sign that his body was burnt where it was dumped.”

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, Funmi Odunlami, said;

“The message we got was that a shop was burning. But by the time we got there, we saw a sack in the gutter. Observing the content closely, we discovered it was a dead and burnt human.”

She said the bag was dumped there in the early hours of the day at about 7 am. She added that the police has commenced an investigation into the incident.

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old woman, Amina Guguwa for allegedly killing her co-wife, IGBERETV reports.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, January 5, 2023, said the suspect strangled the deceased to death.

"Information available to the command revealed that on the 1st January 2023, Amina Koli (Deceased) ‘f’ aged 60yrs of Miya town was strangled to death by her co-wife following the physical confrontation," the statement read.

"Amina Guguwa, the suspect criminally used force on the victim by strangling her neck tight as a result she died on the spot.

"On receiving the report, a team of detectives were drafted and rushed to the scene where they evacuated the victim to the General Hospital Ganjuwa for a post-mortem examination where she was certified dead by a medical doctor.

"The investigation is in progress, after which the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution." the PPRO added.

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Nuhu Umar Usman, for culpable homicide, IGBERETV reports.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, in a statement on Thursday, January 5, said Usman, of Dangarfa village in Kyata Burra District, shot dead his first wife, Ladi Nuhu, after mistaking her for an intruder.

According to the PPRO, there was an altercation between the suspect's two wives and his eldest son, who held a grudge against him and had threatened to harm him.

This made the suspect load his dane gun and keep it beside him throughout the night waiting for the intruder, possibly his eldest son.

Wakil said the deceased had gone out of the room to ease herself and was on her way back when the husband woke up upon hearing a suspicious move close to his room.

He picked up the loaded gun and directly fired at her in the stomach. Ladi was rushed to a hospital where she was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty.

"Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect slept same room with his wife (Deceased) that night, the suspect had two wives and six children," the statement read.

"That there was an altercation between the wives, to the extent that the eldest son holds grudges against the father and threatened to harm him.

"Prior to that incident, the eldest son threatened the father. This made the suspect load his Dane gun and kept beside him throughout the night waiting for the intruder, possibly his eldest son.

"Investigation revealed that on the 28th December 2022 at about 0200hrs while he was sleeping in the same room with his wife Ladi Nuhu ‘f’ aged 37yrs of the same address she went out of the room to ease herself.

"On her way coming back to the room, the husband woke up and armed himself with a Dane gun upon hearing suspicious move close to his room and directly fired at her in the stomach. As a result, she sustained injury. The victim was rushed to the General Hospital Burra, but certified dead by a medical doctor.

"The Commissioner of Police CP Aminu Alhassan psc (+) directed that the suspect be charged to court on completion of the investigation."
