Photos From Burial Of Four Siblings Killed By Kidnappers In Taraba After Collecting N60m Ransom
The abducted siblings who were killed by kidnappers after collecting N60 million ransom from their father, have been buried in Garin Dogo in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The kidnappers abducted the three siblings in Garin Dogo community and demanded N100m ransom from their father, Alhaji Musa Falke, a cattle dealer, however they settled for N60m after negotiation.
The abductors demanded that the money be paid in cash and given to them via a motorcyclist.
The motorist, another son of the cattle rearer, who went to deliver the ransom at a forest near the village, was killed by the kidnappers after they had killed his brothers.
Bolanle Raheem: Photo Of Officer Drambi Vandi In Court As He's Charged For Murder
ASP Drambi Vandi accused of shooting pregnant lawyer, Bolanle Raheem, appeared before the Yaba Magistrate court in Lagos state this morning, December 30.
The state Attorney-General, Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN, filed a one-count charge against Vandi for the murder of Mrs Bolanle Raheem.
The charge sheet reads;
“That you ASP Drambi Vandi on the 25th day of December 2022, at Ajah Road, along the Lekki Expressway, Lagos, unlawfully killed one Omobolanle Raheem by shooting the deceased in the chest contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
The state appeared before the court for an order to remand the suspect in line with Section 264 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos, 2015.
The Magistrate, Ms Adeola Olatunbosun, granted the order and asked that the suspect be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre. She ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the Director of Public Prosecution, Dr. Jide Martins for legal advice.
She then adjourned the case to January 30, 2023 to await legal advice.
There was commotion at a fuel station in Oluyole Estate in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State, when a yet-to-be-identified man slumped and died while queueing up to purchase petrol on Thursday, December 29, IGBERETV reports.
There has been a scarcity of petrol in most parts of the country.
According to reports, other motorists who were scampering to purchase the product got to know the man had passed on when he couldn't move his car as the queue progressed.
The deceased had rested his head on the steering of his car with registration number AKD 878 GP, giving the impression that he was sleeping. Motorists behind him pressed their car horns to alert him to move forward but there was no movement. This made them come down from their vehicles in order to 'wake him up.' It was at this point that it was discovered that he was unconscious.
The victim’s car has been moved to the nearest police station, while his corpse has been deposited in a morgue. The state police command is yet to comment on this development, as at the time of this report.
The Lagos state police command has launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly beat his brother to death for allegedly stealing a school’s property, IGBERETV reports.
The state police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ijede on the outskirts of Lagos was informed on Monday, December 26, that a 32-year-old, security guard in the school, Samson was caught escaping with stolen items.
The items allegedly stolen were five Plasma TVs, one generator, one air-conditioner, one pumping machine and one Wi-Fi modem.
He said the older brother killed his sibling while punishing him for "bringing disgrace to their family".
Hundeyin said;
“His brother, one Yahaya, got hold of the suspect and tied his hands and legs before proceeding to beat him for theft and bringing disgrace to the family.
“In the process, the suspect died and his brother fled.
“Based on the report, the police visited the scene, took necessary action and evacuated the corpse to Ikorodu General Hospital mortuary for autopsy."
He hopes that Yahaya will be arrested by operatives of the command for allegedly killing Samson.
CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi Reacts To Viral Photo Of A Police Officer Holding Cannabis Sativa
The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has reacted to a viral photo of a police officer holding Cannabis Sativa inside a crusher, IGBERETV reports.
A Twitter user had shared the photo and asked if this was right.
Responding, Adejobi said the erring officer should be in Kwara and that the PRO in the state will help fish out the officer and send him to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
''I think this is Kwara. PPRO kwara to fish out this policeman and send him to my office at the FHQ immediately. Can u see this, too? Its a personal thing. I have said it severally that its not systemic. How can a policeman on uniform, on duty, be taking "igbo". Heee'', Adejobi responded.
The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has reacted to a video of police officers drinking alcohol while on duty, IGBERETV reports.
The officers were dressed in military attire with bottles of alcoholic drinks in front of them. A Twitter user had shared the video and asked if this was right. Adejobi responded that it wasn't right.
In an update, Nigerian lawyer, Inibehe Effiong who earlier gave the officer's name as "Ayuba" now gave the officer's correct name as "Drambi Vandi". He wrote on Twitter;
"UPDATE: I’m now hearing that the officer’s name is “ASP Drambi Vandi.” We were earlier told that his name is ASP Ayuba. The police should come out clean on the identity of this killer policeman. We understand he’ll be due for retirement soon. He must not be shielded."
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who also gave the officer's name as "Drambi Vandi" said the officer is currently at SCID undergoing investigation.
Hundeyin wrote on Twitter;
'He is ASP Dambri Vandi. He is currently at the SCID and investigation will be swift."
Gbenga Raheem, the husband of a female lawyer, Omobolanle, who was shot dead by an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Drambi Vandi, in Lagos has broken his silence on the death of his wife, IGBERETV reports.
He narrated;
"On December 25, my wife, nieces, nephews, and cousins, who had come for the holiday, all went to Church.
"On our way back, my wife said since it was Christmas Day, we should take everyone out, so we went to a supermarket at Abraham Adesanya, then to Domino’s Pizza.
"After that, we headed towards Ajah to do a U-turn to come back to Abraham Adesanya. When we took the U-turn, we saw policemen stopping some vehicles.
"As we approached them, they said we should stop, and in the process, we heard a loud sound on my wife’s side window.
"All of a sudden, I saw blood gushing out of her chest. I immediately ran out, my sister-in-law, who was also with us, ran out and held the policeman; he cocked his gun at her too.
"Talking to him was pointless, so I went to see if anything could be done; I saw my wife gasping for breath, and by that time, my sister-in-law had brought the policeman into the car and pushed him into the front seat.
"We drove to a hospital but they said they couldn’t handle it; we eventually took her to Grandville Hospital, where she was confirmed dead. The policemen took her body and put it in the truck; they wanted me to follow them but I said I needed to go and settle my children."

One person died while four others were injured when a truck fell on cars at Cele bus stop inward Mile 2, on Thursday, December 22, IGBERETV reports.
It was gathered that the accident involved a MACK truck conveying twin 20ft containers. Other vehicles at the scene were a Volkswagen bus, a Highlander SUV, and a Toyota RAV4.
LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu who confirmed the accident said the truck driver lost control and collided with the vehicles ahead of it.
He said;
"An adult male, the bus driver, lost his life while four injured victims – three males and one female – have been transported to hospital."
He said that the body of the deceased was handed over to the relatives.
The Oyo State Police Command has arrested ten suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate terrorising Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, IGBERETV reports.
Commuters have been kidnapped and attacked several times along the busy highway.
Prof. Adigun Agbaje, a former Deputy Vice-chancellor (academics) of the University of Ibadan (UI), two students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, and others were abducted on October 28 by kidnappers in military uniform.
Parading the suspects at the Command headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, on Thursday, December 22, spokesman of the command, Adewale Osifeso, said the suspects attacked a team of policemen heeding a distress call to rescue abducted persons. An inspector was killed in the shootout with the kidnappers.
Osifeso said the suspected kidnappers had taken their victims away to an unknown destination through the thick forest along the expressway. They had also contacted relatives for ransom.
"In one of the most coordinated reconnaissance operations in the history of the Command, all operational, tactical and intelligence assets were collapsed and fused as one to attain the goal of the immediate rescue of the abductees unhurt and the apprehension of their abductors for prosecution", the spokesperson said.
"The Oyo State Police Command, in a technological intelligence-aided operation, and with necessary support from Amotekun (the Oyo State Security Network) and other community partners, apprehended the duo of Babangida Buhari Awalu and Kabiru Aliyu.
"Both are commercial motorcyclists and couriers for the kidnap syndicate. They were arrested while retrieving ‘exchange money’ for other members of the syndicate around Ojoo Area, Ibadan. Further detailed and painstaking investigations led to the arrest of five members of the criminal gang.
"Three additional suspects gave their names as Adewuyi Sunday, Ayanwola Gbenga and Rafiu Abdulmajeed from the Gbugbu area of Kwara State and Ago-Are in Oyo State respectively.
"It was also discovered that monies received from the victims were moved into the bank accounts of these three additional suspects for onward distribution to other members of the kidnapping syndicate."
N7.5 million, four AK-47 rifles, 75 AK-47 live ammunition, two pairs of military camouflage and one police beret were among the items recovered from the suspects, according to Osifeso.
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested an ex-convict who specializes in using a telephone number to send threatening messages to different people in the state, IGBERETV reports.
Speaking during a press briefing held on December 21, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, said investigations by the police led to the arrest of one Smart Richard who hails from Delta State.
CP Alabi said that Smart is an ex-convict who had served a five-year jail term at Kirikiri Medium Correctional Center. The suspect identified one Kingsley Richard ‘m’ is currently serving a jail term at Kirikiri Correctional Center as his associate.
''Further investigation revealed that while Smart collated telephone numbers and operated an online wallet account through which they collected their blackmail money, Kingsley while still in prison sent the threat messages and makes threat calls to the collated numbers. The Command is currently working with the Nigerian Correctional Service towards extending investigations to Kingsley Richard.''
Man Arrested For Defiling Three-Year-Old In Lagos Day Care
A man identified simply as Nonso has been arrested for defiling a 3-year-old girl in a Lagos day care centre.
Executive Secretary of the state's Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi said the suspect was arrested after the mother of the child filed a complaint on the 14th of December, 2022.
Adeniyi said;
“The case was reported by the mother of the survivor at the agency on the 14th of December, 2022.
“The DSVA Field Operations Officers reported the case at the Family Support Unit of the Ikotun Police Station.
“DPO Ojajuni of Ikotun Police Station said the suspect was already in custody. He briefed the DSVA team that the perpetrator would be charged to court on the 19th of December, 2022.
“During proceedings at the Samuel Ilori Court, Ogba, the survivor’s mother recounted her daughter’s defilement ordeal while at the day care centre.
“The court ruled that the perpetrator be remanded till the 14th of February, 2023 pending DPP’s legal advice.”
Vivour-Adeniyi who noted that perpetrators of such heinous crimes would be prosecuted, also called on parents to ensure their children and wards are cared for at registered and approved schools and day care centres in the state.

A Twitter poll created by billionaire Twitter owner, Elon Musk asking whether he should “step down as head of Twitter” ended early Monday morning December 19, with most respondents voting for him to step down, IGBERETV reports.
On Sunday, December 18, Musk said he would abide by the results of the poll, which began Sunday evening and concluded with 57.5% voting yes while 42.5% voting no.
More than 17 million votes were cast in the informal referendum on his chaotic leadership of Twitter, which has been marked by mass layoffs, suspending accounts that had violated Twitter’s rules, and the suspension of journalists who cover him.
Musk has not yet reacted to the outcome of the vote.

Abuja High Court sitting in Maitama has formerly granted Anita Okoye and Paul Okoye divorce.
Recall that in August 2021, Anita Okoye filed for divorce after 8 years of marriage.
Anita Okoye cited five major reasons for her decision to divorce her husband: "cheating, a claimed separation, being an absent parent, fraud, and difficult experiences."
She, therefore, requested a settlement of $20,000 monthly as well as a number of Paul' houses.
Earlier on, in her divorce petition signed by her lawyer, Ojonimi Akpe and Okutepa J.S, Anita had claimed that she contributed N10 million as an agreement with Paul that she would be granted space at the mall he had just completed in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
However, she accused Paul Okoye of cheating her out of the deal.
The petition reads in part, "That I know as a fact that the Petitioner founded a company called TannkCo in 2019.
"That the Petitioner and the Respondent agreed to build a mall where TannkCo would have its main offices, and the Petitioner contributed N10,000,000.00 (Ten Million Naira) for the purchase of the land and the building of the mall.
"That I know as a fact that the Respondent, upon completion of the mall, reneged on the agreement and failed to give TannkCo a space in the mall."
However, Anita, who participated in court sessions via Zoom because she now lives in the US, was unable to prove all of the claims in her petition to the court.
As a result, she decided to withdraw all her claims and opted to settle.
The court, in its judgment, only granted joint custody of the children to the parties in the ruling on the case on October 20, 2022.
The petitioner (Anita) was, however, not given any money in the form of alimony or settlement.
Paul has moved on to a younger woman, while Anita is in the US with their 3 kids.

In the biography which has gone viral, the man's children said that though no one is perfect, he left them no legacy.
The writer of the biography expressed regrets about having him as a father while growing up.

A Nigerian woman has bailed her 'abusive' husband out of jail after he was arrested and detained for brutally beating her, IGBERETV reports.
DPA Family Law Clinic, disclosed this in a Facebook post on Thursday, November 24.
The post read;
"DO YOU REMEMBER THIS WOMAN?
We got her husband arrested and detained for doing this to her. His kinsmen refused to come to bail him out. They said he should die there. Guess who went behind us to bail him out? This is how the woman's sister narrated it to us:
"My sister paid 10k to bail the husband because his people refused to come. She said that even if they take man to court that he will still end up in prison and she can't bear it. She had been the one paying all bills including rent because he's not working."
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state has said that reports of the alleged rift between him and his predecessor, Peter Obi, who is also the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), is not true, IGBERETV reports.
Soludo was severely criticized by supporters of Peter Obi after he wrote an article on his Facebook page titled: 'History beckons and I will not be silent,’ in which he dismissed the chances of the Labour Party flag bearer in the 2023 presidential poll.
Speaking at St. Patrick’s Cathedral Awka, during the Thanksgiving mass for Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor in celebration of his 70th birthday on Thursday November 24, Soludo said he would soon be meeting with Obi to sort out their rift which he said was just political.
He also debunked claims of being paid $28 million to run down the Labour Party presidential candidate.
Soludo said;
“Today is very special. When we came into the service, it was the first time, my brother, Peter Obi and I are meeting in a public event and in a Catholic Church which two of us belong to. I think it was divine.
“When I came in, I quickly went to where he sat and hugged him, people watched with bewilderment as if we’re acting drama. Is it not the same people quarrelling?
“Let me tell you, we spoke two times, just last night. We’re brothers. You know I’m not one of those politicians that speak from two sides of the mouth. I can’t pretend. I’m a politician, but also wants to make heaven. I’ll keep saying the truth.
“There’s no rift between Obi and I at a personal level. Nobody snatched each other’s wife. What appears to be the rift between us is fundamental political differences. Nothing else.
“So for those forging blackmail and all that, including the one they said I collected bribe to say what I said, I asked them to bring it so I use it to construct roads. If Soludo is into bribery, I would have been multi trillonaire.
“On the fundamental differences we have, we are going to meet in the next few weeks. We’ve agreed to discuss and iron out our differences. Unfortunately, he’s left. We must get it done. Anambra is for all of us."
Also appreciating God for sparing the celebrant’s life to attain 70, Soludo said Ezeokafor has been of great influence on him and his government, especially in the area of prudence and patronage of locally made products.
Soludo added;
“You changed my thinking when you visited my village house in 2019 and rejected the foreign wine offered to you in the place of palm wine. Today in Governor’s lodge, the highest wine served there is palm wine.
“I was also humbled by the moderate type of car you drove to my house. You told me you chose not to go with a vehicle far above the average of those you’re pastoring. I think this is exemplary.
“When you see me drive Innoson cars, that’s part of the inspiration I got from you. If not for security, I would have been riding bicycles to work.
“We’re taking the prudence you taught us to the next level because when we came in, it cost us over N137m to clean offices. Now, it cost barely N11million. I can only promise to take the message to the world.”

A video shared online has captured residents of Udi community in Enugu State vacating their homes for safety reasons following incessant attack from terrorists in the region, IGBERETV reports.
