The health and fitness aisle at the game store at the palms lekki 100percent whey protein. The big container goes for 14,000 naira |
How is everyone doing? I just saw sample videos of a very intense 60 day workout program called 'Insanity'. Does anyone have experience with this program? I am really considering getting the dvds, or does anyone know where I can get it in Nigeria? |
Madam HG, We all have days like those when you either don't feel like bothering with working out or dealing with obstacles. What I do in times like that is either really charge myself up mentally to still achieve my workout goal or reschedule my workout. For exampe if I was supposed to workout on Monday and I dont feel like it, I reschedule to Tuesday which is actually suppose to be a rest day for me. Sometimes you just generally need a freaking break and resume the week after, just try not to make it a permanent break. Feel better |
Just sharing a quote I saw in the latest edition of Men's Helath Magazine: “People think that to get in shape you have to starve yourself. They’re wrong – you have to eat the right things (protein) at the right times (continually) and avoid eating the wrong things (carbs) at the wrong times (evenings). |
@uzoo, Here is a link to the video on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-9L0J_9qag I downloaded it to my ipad so I can always have it with me |
HG and all, how's everyone doing? Back to work and back to my normal workout routine. I usually hit the gym three times a week after work: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Depending on how I feel, I jog about 3 miles on saturdays. During the strike, I worked out everyday except saturday. I knew if I didnt, I would gain weight, cos I tend to eat more when I am home. Today at the gym, I ran on the threadmill for 30 mins; speed 10 and Incline at 4. Afterwards, I have an 8 minute abs workout program on my ipad that I follow, i try to do it daily. Today was a lazy workout, I didn't have the energy for my usual light weight lifting. I have seen some people's 'starvation' diet plans. I am no diet expert, but one thing I have always been told is that starving yourself is sure not the way to go. Portion control and healthier meal choices is a more sustainable way to lose weight and keep healthy. Later folks. Y |
I know a very good one, but he is male. There aren't alot of female personal trainers in Nigeria. |
Biko, can someone break down all these abbreviations I see here. Example: D2L2 30DS |
What to do when #OccupyNigeria aka Fuel Subsidy Protest has made it impossible for you to get to the gym? You look for items around the house to improvise, I needed dumbells --- I used yams instead ![]() https://i40.tinypic.com/25k4qz9.jpg |
That was a different reporter, that guy was black if I recall correctly. Purefoy is a white dude and covered Nigeria's recent elections. Abeg dey do your research before you defame person character. Akiika: |
@uzoo, I havent been able to hit the gym since the strike. I have been using my jump/skip rope instead. I do a thousand skips each time and 50 pushups afterwards combined with some exercises targeted to my abs. I tried to jog along the lekki expressway yesterday afternoon, but the area boys along the road acosted me asking for 'settlement', so I just went back home. I have done more exercises during the strike more than than when there was no strike. |
Happy new year all. This will be my first post to what I consider one of the best threads on nairaland. Like most people here, I am on a quest to living a healthier life. I started working out consistently in August of 2011. I usually hit the gym 3 days a week after work. I do the aerobics class at my gym for an hour and do some weight training for about 20-30 minutes. So far I have lost about 20 pounds. I have been seeing some references to some workout videos, taebo and the likes. Can I get some good workout video recommendations and where I can get them. Thanks in advance |
Last time I paid my bill, they charged me N4,000 for maintenance fee |
@Mikuz, he would have been fired anyways for not meeting the terms of his contract, just like Siasia. |
I dont understand what you mean by being given ebay. Ebay is a public site available to anyone from anywhere, or is there a local ebay that I am unaware of? |
Chuck D and Kabukabu50 have given you the best advice so far. There's really no sure sustainable way of losing weight without putting in the work and making some sacfrifices: eat less, increase physical activity, pick healthier meal choices and avoid eating late into the night. I personally made the decision to get back in shape a couple of months ago. I have lost some co siderable weight in the process, I eat less, and make sure I hit the gym at least three times a week. Good luck! |
I couldnt even go in to do my transaction, 'had to turn back. https://i51.tinypic.com/5f2e0n.jpg |
@lari03 - You said you liked CHI because it is a Nigerian brand, hmmmmm, well, a bit of Information. The founder of CHI is German and all his management staff up to MD level are all Indians. They only hire Nigerians to do some clerical/administrative work and ofcourse the factory work. |
@Tony - Ol boy, you just fashi me, no forget roger me oooo for that transaction. Abi you think say na play I dey play? lol |
@Seawood - When did you send the email? I have replied all emails I have gotten so far with respect to this topic. Please resend |
@Gobi - The wise thing to do, would be to contact the two gentlemen and negotiate the fees with them. I hope you don't expect to achieve that on the pages of nairaland |
@toks2009 - GEJ paid tribute to the slain corpers during his inauguration speech. |

Dear Nairalanders, I bought a piece of land for myself this february in Ogombo. Tony Flez acted as my agent. I saw one of his threads on Nairaland and I called him up. I called lawyer around the same period as well to intimate him on my intention to buy land from Ogombo via Tony Flez, he spoke very highly of Tony. I met with a representative of the family and I had no qualms with his 'presentation'. Tony and Lawyer very perfect gentlemen and professionals through out the entire transaction. I don't mean to over sing Tony's praise, but he is a very gentle and transparent individual. Even after buying the land, he helped me negotiate with the guy's that will clear the land and he did it as if he had known me years before now. My only regret is that I didn't have enough money to buy more than a plot. I am currently in the process of getting my governor's consent and that process too is going very smoothly. Send me a private message if you need to chat with me more about my experience. |
The problem with Nigerian internet users is they want something they can always carry around. For me I do not have a need to me carrying my internet service all over the place, so IPNX works great for me. I have been using it for the past three years. Hardly ever goes down and the speed thrumps any of those USB stick type of internet Nigerians prefer. |
Praise the LORD, God is faithful.@ Ejadamen congrats God will keep you and your son. Its so good to come here and see testimonoes like this, I know for surety God will visit every TTC member IJN. |

@Arlington, Please I beg of you try and relax I know sometimes its not easy but thats what you need to do at this time. God is not a man that he should lie or the son of man that he should repent from what he has said, because he said we will live and not die, be rest assured no eveil will befall your son. He shall live to declare the glory of God. We are all praying for you, it is well. |

Nairalanders, Yesterday when I was driving towards Okun Ajah, I saw a construction site with some sand filling going on. The sign board next to it indicated to me that the area was being put together for a government housing scheme called: Fairmont Gardens. Does anyone have any idea where the government is with this scheme? Have they opened it up for sale (or whatever they do with govt schemes)? Any information on pricing? Pictures I took:
