Nigeria can break up and people die with years of war between ethnicities.

Doesnt really matter to me cause Where im from in Nigeria there are no other ethnicities, to war with- So If Nigeria breaks up my own country might have minor BS conflicts between themselves(which happens in every country) but the splitting of more countries No. Cant say the same for the rest of Nigeria.

and I actually laughed at your comparison to India and Indonesia- WHERE THERE HAS BEEN RECENT BOMBINGS BY MINORITY RELIGIOUS GROUPS AND ETHNIC MINORITIES WHO CLAIM TO BE MARGINALIZED.

Its obvious you dont know wtf youre talkin about- If Nigeria is the Giant of Africa or the midget I dont care.

Perhaps I should have rephrased what I meant. IF Indonesia and India can remain relatively stable (Indonesia's last military coup was in 1965 if I'm right and India since its break-away from Pakistan has NEVER had a military coup) with solid economic growth and growing wealth for citizens then why can't Nigeria? Yes Nigeria has had damn near-awesome economic growth rates during the 00 decade but you do realize the nation could be much wealthier today had your leaders got their shit together in the past. I mean I don't know if it bothers you knowing that Nigeria is one of the world's largest importers of generators despite it having enough proven reserves to supply itself with all the power it needs? May I ask who will be your country's Manmohan Singh?  grin

You could say I dont know what I'm takling about but hey Nigeria's situation still looks pretty shitty from whatever viewpoin or knowledge one may have of it.
Politics / Re: Have U Ever Experienced Injustice Abroad? by Eddeux(m): 11:43pm On May 29, 2010
Talk about black americans, na jail u go dey see them.

You got something smart to say about my people boi?  angry Ahh yeah some are annoying, but I'd say that most black Americans are nice, open-minded people (and I'm being serious!) Forget the ones that act all hood and look at the rest of us who wouldn't act snobby to foreigners or anyone else unless they say something negative about us first. I've seen a few here on Nairaland, and I'm tempted to say something about Nigerians (and trust me I got so many insults I could write a book,  grin) then I realize not all of y'all are like that.
Politics / Re: Father's Land Vs Birth Land by Eddeux(m): 11:38pm On May 29, 2010
I share your sentiment as well. My mother is Black American and my father is Igbo. That being said, I have a strong attachment to my father's land though and I recognize that I am Igbo.

However, if you talk to me, I have an American accent and I was raised in the United States. I feel people who are made up of different ethnicities or races should give respect to all of their heritages.

Too bad some people who are born to immigrant families here in America, or who's mother or father isn't from this country, all of a sudden decide that they're more loyal to some country thousands of miles away instead of the one that they've been nurished in for years. Not saying all are like this but I've met many who are and it disgusts me. Like seriously if they're gonna have that kind of attitude then they should just go back to their mother or father's country and don't bother coming back. angry undecided

No big deal if Lagos ISLAND- becomes a state apart from the rest of Lagos, that state can have a governor from anywhere.

I mean its not life or death- things are the way it is in Nigeria to keep peace- If no one likes it

we can just break up. and every New country or state has its own Laws

I'm not a Nigerian, so my say may not matter that much, but I lmao at simple comments like 'we can just break up.' Regardless of Nigeria, do you have any clue of how most breakups in other countries have occurred? All I gotta say is that it wasn't peaceful. lmao. Say in the worse case scenario, that Nigeria broke up, how would it happen? Would it be peaceful with Nigeria breaking up into two countries, 5, 10? I mean once the breakup starts there is no stopping other ethnic groups from calling for independence too.

A stark comparison, if countries like India and Indonesia can survive with hundreds of ethnic groups, religions, etc then why can't Nigeria? Are your people not capable of getting along with others who are not of the same ethnic group or religion?

All I do know is that if Nigeria breaks up, I'll just be watching here from America thikning "oops, there goes the 'giant' of Africa, maybe Ghana can lead West Africa to develop now  grin"
Foreign Affairs / Us Says It Has 5,113 Nuclear Weapons by Eddeux(m): 3:42am On May 04, 2010
The United States has 5,113 nuclear warheads in its stockpile and "several thousand" more retired warheads awaiting the junkpile, the Pentagon said Monday in an unprecedented accounting of a secretive arsenal born in the Cold War and now shrinking rapidly.

The Obama administration disclosed the size of its atomic stockpile going back to 1962 as part of a campaign to get other nuclear nations to be more forthcoming, and to improve its bargaining position against the prospect of a nuclear Iran.

"We think it is in our national security interest to be as transparent as we can be about the nuclear program of the United States," Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton told reporters at the United Nations, where she addressed a conference on containing the spread of atomic weapons,

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100503/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_us_nuclear_weapons#mwpphu-container

OMFG!! 5,113!! shocked shocked shocked shocked How many times could you destroy the world over w/ that many? It just takes one to start a nuclear war, 5,113 would just turn Earth into another Venus. I don't know why, but for some reason this kinda makes me more proud to be an American. Not in the 'we can blow up the world like 23 times over way though
Politics / Re: I Don't Believe In One Nigeria: Pa Adeniran by Eddeux(m): 12:07am On Apr 17, 2010
and people wonder why that country will never develop. Nigeria isn't the only country in the world that has ethnic, political, and religious issues. Many other countries were 'forced' together in their early days. Examples: the uighur issue in China, the ainus of Japan, native Americans in America (& native Hawaiians), Chechnyans of Russia, etc.

Adeniran doesn't believe in one Nigeria, fine, but what happens if Nigeria breaks up? Will the new countries develop?  Instead of being ruled by corrupt leaders of other ethnic groups will they be lead by corrupt leaders of their ethnic group? They won't have anyone else to blame. I'm not bashing Nigeria, just stating the truth.
Politics / Re: Jonathan Is A Critical Leader In Africa, Says U.s. by Eddeux(m): 1:09am On Apr 11, 2010
Besides I really don't trust US in terms of national relations right now. One minute they're reprimanding and ignoring us, next minute they want something from us and want to talk.

that sounds like something a neglected wife would say   grin
Politics / Re: Jonathan Is A Critical Leader In Africa, Says U.s. by Eddeux(m): 12:17am On Apr 11, 2010
Well i don't want a puppet as my president, i prefer someone as stubborn as Mugabe, but not as ''undiplomatic as he is.
wen jiabao? he had the balls to disrespect Obama at the UN Climate Change Conference n december, and he's diplomatic too, in a commie kinda way shocked
Foreign Affairs / Re: Polish President, 95 Others Dead In Russia Jet Crash by Eddeux(m): 5:37pm On Apr 10, 2010
I would expect planes carrying a country's most important heads would be state-of-the-art. oh well, I think it was a pilot error (as they stated since the plane ws repaired not too long ago in a factory), but those Russian Tupulevs are sh*t too grin.
Politics / Re: Jonathan Is A Critical Leader In Africa, Says U.s. by Eddeux(m): 5:34pm On Apr 10, 2010
and how is that going to happen?  Last time i checked, obama doesn't have a right to vote in Nigeria
you'd be surprised at what we can do. I wouldn't be surprised if the US govt moved Africom's headquarters from Germany to Nigeria in a few years--if Jonathan wins 2011 elections that is. it's great that Obama believes Jonathan is a crtical African leader, since they do call Nigeria the giant of africa, but I fear or know for a fact that the US govt is just looking to support Jonathan b/c the chances of him becoming one of their puppets is far greater. watch out Nigeria, don't go down Japan's path! pressured into accepting everything the US govt throws at you.
Foreign Affairs / Re: White Supremacist Leader Killed In South Africa by Eddeux(m): 4:48am On Apr 04, 2010
to a certain degree, it's sad to see him die, but then I read the article and he should have been killed LONG ago!! angry
Politics / Re: How Africa Is Becoming The New Asia by Eddeux(m): 4:43am On Apr 04, 2010
I read that earlier last month, and I believe that Africa definitely has the potential and stability now to be the next rapidly developing location in the global economy, but, there are still many obsticles to overcome, one of the largest being corruption!

Makes you wonder, if Nigeria's government would have invested all of the money its got from oil over the past decades, Nigeria could be a developed country be now, lol
  shocked
Politics / Re: From 2011, Presidents And Governors Must Have A Degree by Eddeux(m): 4:04am On Mar 28, 2010
^^ has he been America's only president since the country's inception?

no, but he's been the dumbest, close-minded, destructive president we've had in decades. Having a degree doesn't mean leaders will know what to do while in office. If this were the case, America wouldn't be $12 trillion in debt after over 30 yrs of borrowing.
Politics / Re: If The Us Declares Economic War On China, We Should All Tremble by Eddeux(m): 3:58am On Mar 28, 2010
This directly affects Nigeria, thats why I put it here. There are very strong US and Chinese influences in various spheres of the Nigerian economy; so lets explore it as it might affect us. Where would such a battle leave a mono-product economy like ours?

in the hole more than likely, that is unless other developing nations such as India have demand for say oil lifted ten-fold and Indian FDI in Nigeria rises drammatically. you know India's leaders are in a rush to get into Africa after falling behind China, so it could happen. But I doubt U.S. - China tensions would escalate to a level where the global economic recovery grinds to a halt and nations like India are investing in Nigeria far more than U.S. or China
Foreign Affairs / Re: Is Obama’s Birth Certificate A Forgery? by Eddeux(m): 3:47am On Mar 28, 2010
I can't believe people are still talking about this. The man is president and is already proven to be born in the U.S, all this is is right-wing BS  angry
Politics / Is Nigeria As Jacked Up As The Us Media Makes It Out To Be by Eddeux(m): 3:43am On Mar 28, 2010
All we mostly hear in America from American new sources is how awful in bad condition Nigeria is in. Muslim-christian violence rampant, stuck in political crisis, can't meet energy demands, most people still living under $2 dollars a day, oil sector still dominating economy, news that Libya says country should split into two, how we would rely on oil from unstable Nigeria if Mexico doesn't fix it's oil dilemma U.S. leaders concerned china stealing business away from US in Nigeria and rest of Africa etc etc. Tell me, how much of this is true?
Politics / Re: From 2011, Presidents And Governors Must Have A Degree by Eddeux(m): 3:27am On Mar 28, 2010
lmao, so having a degree is gonna make Nigeria's leaders wiser so they could lead development in the nation? Sorry to break it to ya, but the only thing a degree gets you is this:
Politics / Re: If The Us Declares Economic War On China, We Should All Tremble by Eddeux(m): 3:24am On Mar 28, 2010
Ehh, so if this happens, which I doubt it will and if it does then it shows how idiotic our leaders and china's have become, then where does it leave Nigeria? No China to purchase oil, no U.S. to purchase oil, can't count of Europe, SA still painfully recovering, and Egypt, do they even trade much w/ you guys? Maybe India? Start learning some Hindi  grin

The U.S. and China both need to realize slapping tariffs on imports and keeping your currency devalued by as much as 40% is not the way to sustain long-term economic growth. President Obama wants to double imports by 2015, and lets just say Nigeria doubling her GDP is more likely to happen than us doubling imports to $2 trillion in 5 years, Businesses will just find a cheaper country to produce goods in. I'm thinking Vietnam & India, and maybe some African countries too (Nigeria?), so slapping a tariff on China won't bring back our manufacturing jobs, ahh the beauty of globalization
Foreign Affairs / Re: Haiti should change their Name by Eddeux(m): 4:15am On Mar 26, 2010
Yes Haiti's new name can be either the United Secondary State of Senegal (USSS) or United States of America (state #51),  grin
Foreign Affairs / Re: Is America So Broke That: by Eddeux(m): 3:54am On Mar 26, 2010
taking 4 cents from an American is like taking a full days earnings from a Nigerian.

and yes we are broke, because we police the world and allow our companies to outsource jobs to developing nations.
Business / Re: US To Assist Nigeria On Nuclear Power by Eddeux(m): 7:01pm On Mar 24, 2010
I don't think Nigeria can be trusted with nuclear power unless the government takes responsibility and ensures that no terrorists get within 20 miles of the facility! Oh well, maybe it could solve their power shortage, but I ask, why not use solar or wind power instead? A wind farm could be set up in 6 months and could create steady jobs seeing they need to be constantly maintained, I swear I rarely hear this idea being used by African countries that lack adequate power supply. If the Europeans can come in and make a huge solar field for power to be exported to Europe then why not give it a try in Nigeria?
