Nope. Just the visa fee and acknowledgement receipt attached to a photocopy of your passport data page (received the day you paid for and submitted your passport)

Amen! We're hoping so too.

The $30 seems to be a new requirement, not come across it before now. The spousal application kit should be same docs required in addition to schedule A and additional family info. Just to clarify, are you applying outside Canada?

Transformium:

Hopefully they would get back to you soon with new PPR for you and your spouse.

Yes I got a request letter asking for the following

30$ re-issue visa fee
Schedule A
Additional family info
Spousal Application Kit (No links)
Processing fee & RPRF fee for spouse
Return Passport & COPR
Travel / Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by Eddy4400: 11:42pm On Jul 05, 2019
No feedback yet, so no, haven't been asked to pay $30. Links to required docs were available on the Request Letter, so i don't know about the application kit.

Have you gotten a request letter yet?

Transformium:
Hi Eddy4400, How’s your application going? I wanted to find out if you were asked to pay a 30$ reissue Visa fee and if you got any link to download the Spousal Application Kit.

Thanks
Travel / Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by Eddy4400: 7:02pm On Jun 17, 2019
1. 30days

2. After I sent a mail to my VO, started gathering docs while waiting for the Request Letter, but Qlife refused to schedule an immediate appointment without this letter stating the 30days deadline. So spouse completed medicals after VO responded with a Request Letter for additional docs.

3. Submitted a few days after I got the Request Letter cos every other doc is to be uploaded via your CIC account anyways. However, you're required to submit within same 30days deadline from date on Request Letter.

Transformium:
Hi Eddy4400,
1. How many days were you giving to submit the required documents after informing CIC about your marriage?
2. Did your spouse complete medicals before or after you raised the CSE?
3. And at what point did you have to submit your passport & COPR for cancellation?
Thanks

Alberta, Manitoba, Sask, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland & Labrador, Newbrunswick, Nova Scotia...

But you have to apply for a health card first.

Hi everyone.
It's good to finally be here!!! However I have some major concerns that I need clarification on.
We (my husband and I) got our PPr mail yesterday and we plan to do a short landing first sometime in August. We are pregnant now(lol) and we plan on having our child in Canada when we do our short landing. Please we would need advice on what states grant health insurance immediately and on any other thing we will need to know.
Thank you for your time and response.

Morning fam. Pls for those of us that added our spouse post PPR or COPR, was your spouse required to complete biometrics? This wasn't stated on the request letter I got. We're wondering if to pay for biometrics now, while paying for RPRF/application fee, hence the question.

Pls note that some people I asked on the Canada visa thread, confirmed their added spouse didn't complete biometrics, even though they had never done one before. Need to confirm with naija peeps. Thanks.

Well explained, thanks.

Ifeoma77:

There is no point at which change of name is required. You can live with your maiden name for the rest of your life.
When filling the forms, continue with your maiden name. As long as you've not done the change legally, continue to fill your maiden name (actually it's your only name for now)
As for recommended, anytime that is most convenient for you would be the recommendation. If you have limited time, then wait till you get to Canada and do the change of name when the time to renew your passport comes around.
If you still have lots of time in Nigeria, then do it before leaving but bear in mind that you will need to do a new passport bearing the new name

Please help clarify fam. If filling additional forms after adding spouse post COPR, is it okay to continue with my maiden name? E.g additional family information form.

NB - I haven't changed my name via newspaper publication yet. Pls at what point is a change of name required or recommended? Pre or post landing?

Morning house...

I'm getting married soon and adding hubby post COPR. Hence, I'd be required to return my passport for the initial COPR to be cancelled. Please will I be mandated to submit a new passport to reflect "married" status and change in surname for the new visa stamp?

What are the implications? Or am I to submit present passport showing "single" status alone?

Anyone with info should please help...thanks

Ohh I see, thanks a lot.

salford:

Cost of rent in both the UK and Canada differs based on a lot of conditions most importantly area and state or condition of the building. You can find a condo for rent in downtown Calgary for $5,000 a month and you can still find within some quandrants of the same downtown for $1,000 a month.

Even though this cost of $1000 a month is borderline with partially government subsidized housing in a city like Calgary, you might still be able to find one for that amount, furnished and utilities included if you search well. It might just be in an older building.

You will need to be careful though because some apartments in older buildings are cheap for a good reason (bedbugs, cockroaches and the likes may be present). Shine your eyes well.

If you are single, you might find it alot easier to rent in a high quality shared apartment.

Pls FAM, especially those that have landed, no matter how stupid this question is, it's very important to me.

Can one get a furnished 1 bedroom condo (basic utilities inclusive + internet) for $1000 max specifically in Calgary or Edmonton? In my head, this should be possible comparing it to accommodation in the UK.

The sites I've checked so far all state unfurnished. Answers pls...thanks

Eddy4400:
I wish all the house search sites posted here were this detailed....

Please e-family, if searching for a 1 bedroom condo for rent ($1000/month max) and it states "unfurnished", does it mean the house will be empty just like the new houses for rent in Nigeria and you'd be required to buy all the furniture like bed etc.?? Pls help clarify

Note that some "unfurnished" condo for rent adverts go ahead to state a few appliances like microwave and stove.

Now thinking of opting for a shared apartment for a few months, as one can't be thinking of buying furniture when work never land.

Express Entry Awareness

I got to know about EE mid 2016 via a Facebook comment. I quickly inboxed the commenter and that was how it all begun.
After several correspondence, she told me they used an agent CANREACH and strongly adviced I used them too. I didn’t know anyone else who had gone through EE neither did I know of platforms such as this. I relied solely on whatever info she gave me and called the agent. To cut a long story short, I had the pay the agent over N500,000. After payment, they sent a mail on things I had to do such as IELTS, ECA, PCCs, Medicals and so on. Prior to payment the agent never mentioned it neither did my Facebook contact.

I later realized my Facebook contact was just a dependant spouse who knew next to nothing about what EE actually entails. My contract with the agent was valid for only 2 years and by the time I was finally ready to apply I have become very informed, I didn’t trust the agent anymore (they became lackadaisical plus too many stories of people complaining about agents needing more money and not giving them access to their application) and the 2 years agreement was almost up. To avoid any stories, I decided to handle my application myself. So, that was how I lost over N500,000.

ECA

After I opened an account with WES and paid for transcript, my school said they couldn’t find my file at all shocked. That means they have nothing with which to prepare my transcript. This dragged for months. My contact kept calling me saying she’s trying but my department insists that my file doesn’t exist. My dear mum got tired of it all and decided to travel down to my school herself to enquire how after spending over 5 years doing a 4-year course, going for NYSC and even PGD, her daughter’s entire file suddenly disappeared. Lo and behold, barely 3 days after my mum show face my file was automatically found.
In the end, I got my 2 or more degrees evaluation.

IELTS

I was quite confident in my English ability but still I studied. The resources I used were ieltsliz, ieltsbuddy and futurelearn. I found ieltsliz especially helpful for listening and reading. Futurelearn really helped for writing.

ITA-AOR-Medicals

I declined my first ITA because my passport had less than 6 months validity. I made the mistake of going to Ikoyi for renewal and even paid for express, only to be told there was no booklet.
Second ITA came and I was determined not to decline. I submitted my passport as it was and then raised a CSE after I eventually got the renewed one. 2 weeks later I passed medicals and In my mind I was thinking I go soon get PPR. Little did I know that AVO had other plans for me and that was how the 9 months long wait started.

After months of uncertainty, ordering 2 GCMS notes, raising 3 CSEs, signing several petitions and going through a roller coaster of emotions, AVO finally broke their silence. An interview invite!

Interview

My interview was scheduled to hold 14th February in Accra. I was asked to come with just about everything pertaining to my application. Even the job I got after AOR which I didn’t inform IRCC of, I decided to take my employment letter and payslips along. On the interview day, I intentionally got there few minutes before so I won’t have to wait for long but I didn’t get called in till over an hour later. I submitted my documents at the reception.

The interviewer told me the purpose of the interview was to determine my eligibility. All of my documents were thoroughly checked (I arranged them in an orderly manner using office clips but when I entered the interview room, they were all spread out on a table). It turned out that they needed to be absolutely certain of my marital status and that I understood the implication. I applied as married but life happened and I became separated which I informed IRCC of along with the necessary document. The questions were mostly personal and the interviewer wanted to be sure that POF was still intact.

In the end, I was told that I passed the interview cheesy and I would be issued a remedicals request as the one I applied with already expired. My interviewer also said that due to the peculiarity of my case, a meeting with another colleague (abi their boss) was necessary but that I definitely will be getting an ADR before PPR can be issued.

Immediately I stepped out of the premises I switched on my phone and remedicals request was waiting inbox. For those of us at AVO (especially those who got interviewed), remedicals request is to PPR what John the Baptist is to Jesus. Right there and then I knew all is well. After walking aimlessly for some minutes out of excitement, I took a cab to a Chinese restaurant and gave myself a treat. Mama I’ve made it!

Almighty PPR!

The following day while I was preparing to check out of the hotel, my phone beeped and it was the ADR my interviewer talked about. Few minutes later while I was talking excitedly on the phone about the receipt of ADR, dearest PPR gallantly came in.

I was relieved. I was excited. I was weak. I felt like I was floating. I really can’t describe exactly how I felt.

Remedicals

On getting back to Nigeria, I struggled to get remedicals done. Qlife was booked till April and they couldn’t squeeze me in while IOM said the earliest they could do for me was first week of March. I decided to write to Accra asking for an extension but after all the suffer when I don suffer, I really did not want to extend anything. That was how I came across @Hobyno offering his Qlife slot to someone who was also looking for an early date but fortunately the date was too soon for her grin. I quickly went inbox to beg him for the slot and he graciously agreed.

Once again, THANK YOU @Hobyno.

Two days later, as at 6:04am I was already at Qlife for my medicals. Before 10am I was done and headed straight to VFS for passport submission.

My brethren na so o like joke like joke, my dream turned reality before my very eyes.

My journey was a long and bumpy one but las' las', na God win. grin
