Etebo and Ogu/Ajayi as double pivot with Iwobi as AMF in a 4-2-3-1 with Aina at RB would've served up a better game than this filth of a match we played today.
Etebo is not a good ball winner or passer. Ogu isn't the most mobile. I don't know how good Ajayi is.
The midfield was weak way from time and I thank God Rohr himself realized it.

Rohr fawked up big time today. First with the starting formation. Why change the 4-2-3-1 that got us three consecutive victories leading to this match?. Food for thought.

Second with his shocking inability to read the game as it progresses. Even a layman could see that SA was killing us from the wings. Kalu, apart from the own goal he caused, was out of sorts at RWB. We were struggling to move the ball from defence to attack. The logical thing would've been to switch to a our normal four man back line. But Rohr.....
4-2-3-1 with what midfield exactly??

Didn't watch the game but this was the result I expected.
Let's just thank God we've qualified. Criticizing Rohr is taboo to some so yeah. Rohr will get exposed against the big guns if he doesn't change.

I'll still blame Rohr for this game.. There was no need to.play a 3-5-2 today . It rendered our wing play useless . Collins at some point in the second half became confused as to whether he was playing CB or LB. Even Kalu was ineffective. A 4-2-3-1 with Success starting would have been better..

Seriously I hate it when we draw and lost some games we could have won under Rohr .. The man's decision making is poor. even if we win the afcon,he is still not the right man for the job...This team of ours is young and full of talents... Rohr just doesn't know how best to utilise them...
He played 3-5-2 because he didn't trust the midfield he picked.

Agu - Ogu lack pace. I do not agree with these type of pairing. One must have pace. Just like Barry-Fernandinho or Kante-Matic or Casemiro-Modric.

So, Etebo-Ogu looks ideal due to Ogu being disciplined at the back and Etebo's pace and workaholic spirit.
Agu isn't that slow. He's a better ball winner than Ogu and Etebo.
But yeah - Etebo's energy is a positive asset to have in midfield

My front 4 would be Kalu - Musa - Samuel Chukwueze with Iwobi as 10.
Agu - Ogu should be a good pairing on paper with Ogu handling distribution and Agu as the destroyer. Question mark as to if Agu is trustworthy and Ogu's lack of mobility.
We can bring on Success during the second half to bully their CBs.
However, I won't be surprised if Rohr truly does start a front 3 of Kalu - Musa - Iwobi like has been mooted with Etebo - Agu - Ogu as our midfield 3.
I still say it was a daft move to invited just 3 midfielders.
Let's wait and see what happens sha...

Maybe I’ve not seen Kalu enough. But I would start Onyekuru rather on the left, and Musa on the right. Kalu should not be a starter IMO.
Can't start both with the midfield we have.

With Etebo's injury, Agu and Ogu will likely start.

This is what our Midfield is reduced to. Who do we bring on to replace this guys if the need arises?

Well, what do I know. I just hope our Midfield is not over run by the Southies.

What do you think Mikael2?
I said the same thing the first time I saw the list but all I got was "Rohr knows best". I'm just thanking God that it's not Iwobi or even Samu that got injured. Those are our most creative players in camp at the moment.

If I had my way, this would be my lineup against SA.

Success is in the best shape among all the strikers now.

Chukwueze ahead of Kalu is a no brainer. Kalu came late to camp and he hasn't really covered himself in glory in the he GWG shirt.

Ogu is too slow for my liking, hence I chose to partner Etebo with Ajayi.

I dont have Faith in any of the goalkeepers in camp, so, whoever gets picked, I can only wish he comes good
This can morph to a 3-5-2 with Ajayi dropping in between the CB and Aina and Collins pushing up. Makes sense...

Tactics is different from versatile. This isn't an English class but for clarification. Tactics is another word for strategy or method. It is not common to see someone who is skillful without tactics. Hence Okocha is both skillful and has tactics. Meaning he has a strategy of getting over a player with his skill.

By the way, it is out of place to compare Okocha with the new generation of Messi and C. Ronaldo
Okocha, Luis Figo and Zidane were in the same league

I am of the opinion that Messi and Ç. Ronaldo are just lucky to be around when there are low quality defenders and goalkeepers.

Maldini
Nesta
Thuram
Stam
Cafu
Hierro
Roberto Carlos
Oliver Kahn
Buffon
Castillas
etc
Okocha is more tactically sound than either Messi or C Ronaldo. You can't also say he's more strategic than them two. Okocha's "method" of getting pass a player can't be more effective if he doesn't have the end product to back it up. Dinho was just as entertaining(even more in my opinion) yet he was more productive than Okocha. Okocha might have had the tricks but his close control at full speed is no where on Messi's level, he can't operate in tight spaces like him as well.
Messi and Cr7 would've survived the old days. Cr7 is one of the most complete(if not the most complete) goal scorer of all time. Ambidextrous, great in the air, fast, strong, great touch...what else do you want from a goal scoring winger that cr7 didn't possess at his peak?
Okocha has talent but abeg make una chill with this hype.

Cantonese:
Very wrong assertion my brother. Issa Hayatou admitted that Okocha deserved to receive the African player of the year but was cheated by CAF.
The issue has to do with:
1. His skin
2. The authorities

Were there no other great or greater players all the years that Messi and Ronaldo shared the Fifa world footballer of the year award? By the way looking at skills is Ronaldo more skilful than Okocha? NO. Uncommon cheating by the Europeans cheated many African greats my brother. Okocha was among the African greats who played in Europe and got cheated by the authorities.
Arsene Wenger once said that he did not sign Okocha because he lacked discipline on the field. But he gave flimsy excuses for not signing Messi, Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic, Mbappe, etc. The same players are given freedom to roam in their clubs, are allowed to make decisions affecting their teams and are glorified and feared by club owners.
Let us honour our own. Okocha for me is one of the greatest to ever play football.
I don't know 98 as I was bit too young to remember, but Okocha did not deserve to beat Eto both times he was nominated in the top 3.
And when did Wenger say he didn't sign him because of discipline?? Besides if it was during the invincibles era he wouldn't have suited Arsenal's one touch quick style of play.
Messi and C Ronaldo win the Ballon D'or because they are consistent and step up when it matters the most.

Dont you know Ronaldinho learnt 80% of his skills fro Jay-Jay.
Though he has no much trophy and awards like Cboy and Leo but he is the king of tricky football and magical skills. As he said sometime in an interview;
"I played football to entertain"
No he didn't. Ronaldinho was already exhibiting his skills back in the Brazilian league. He admired him - that's all.

Sam Allardyce was right. Many of the people commenting here either lack comprehension or they were much younger during Okocha's wave. The man did not say Okocha was better than Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi in terms of goalscoring but in terms of SKILLS AND TACTICS.

This was even confirmed by Ronaldinho when he stated that the only playing he enjoyed watching to play was Jay Jay Okocha.

Fact is Okocha is a wonder when it comes to playing with football. I've watched many adverts and solo games up till now, Okocha still has that skills and tricks with the ball.

Messi and C. Rinaldo could have all the accolades but when it comes to skills, tricks and tactics, none of them come close to Austin Jay Jay Okocha.
What do you mean by "tactics"? Messi is more versatile, has a higher football IQ, etc. So how is better than Messi at "tactics"?
The only thing Okocha edges messi over is skills.

That's why he remained a useless player . How will you dribble 5 players, have an empty net begging you to impregnate it with a goal yet you chose to turn back and continue the madness from where it all started from.

His game simply lacked output. He was classless and refused to promote the motive of the game. I will gladly call him a commedian coz he wasn't a footballer at all. He was just there to make people laugh.

Have you even ever wondered why many Nigerians even rate KANU Nwankwo above him? Kanu generally was a far better player. He had all the skills and tricks okocha possessed and he put them to good use.
Some people will not like to hear the truth. He got a bit serious at Bolton sha. Guess that's what growing up does to people.

Of course Okocha was more skillful than the Ronaldo or Messi. However, I preferred Dinho because he had end product and was a bit quicker.
I don't think he was that consistent at club level too.

I don't understand all this argument abut NACHO,

I for one had Neva and will never see him as astiker, or support striker again,
he should had stay in city, and develop his his game as a 10 he is, but his goals, seems to get to him hence his always knack for it, rather than develop his position as an AM,

too bad he is on a decline, with his constant position of a striker/cf, he won't find his feet

NOTE: am not hating on him, if anyone can show me his natural position, then we can rumble on it thanks pals
Nacho is a better SS than 10. He is playing his best position at Leicester.

Issac Success should be the number one option to start with Ighalo out. He would tire out their defence and Nacho can come in and wrap things up.
My worry is that midfield... I'm still not comfortable with it

Being a good assistant coach is a good pathway to becoming a good coach. Ask Mourinho. Other backroom staff that did well are Villas-Boas and Brendan Rodgers.
Ask the rene guy at man united who many claimed was the reason behind Ferguson success at manure.
As for AVB - he reinforces my point a bit. VERY poor man manager who tends to overcomplicate simple things.
We're talking of a guy who thought it was smart to play a high line with John Terry as his CB.

What has Henry done to show he is a bad coach? He took over a sinking ship and he is trying to salvage it under tough conditions. The Monaco team should be patient. Keep in mind Monaco has over 9 players out due to injuries. It is a tough condition.

Finito.
Henry is learning the hard way that punditry and coaching are two very different things.
He's not even a stellar pundit to begin with. Being a good assistant coach doesn't also equal to being a good head coach.

This is the simple truth.

If we're all reasonable, we would realize that salary increment is not what we need now but for infrastructure to be fixed, sound economy and low commodities prices.

At ₦18,000 more than 25 Governors out of 36 owed workers, cos they couldn't afford it with revenue drop. Why would anyone think when you increase, they would be able to pay?

Yoruba says owó tí kò sí, jedi jẹdi ọ lè gbà. Not even stomach upset can take the money that's non existent
Even at ₦18,000 if dollar exchange to ₦ is back to below ₦200, there's constant electricity, purchasing power automatically goes up.

Prices are high, you increase salaries, the sellers automatically adjusts their products prices immediately to benefit from the more money in circulation.

Only employers of Labour and sound economists would understand
Gbam!!! If only people understood. I was laughing my head off when Sowore was talking about increasing the minimum wage to 100k...that's when I knew he's better off as a journalist.

I hope Kelechi Nwakali and his brother Allwell are seeing his mates. Osimhen, Chuks, Orji and Kingsley? When I look at Nwakali, all I see is pride (mpako). Oh yes I have arrived, after all, a top club like Arsenal fought for my siggy and I have been endorsed by greats like Kalu, Amunike et al, as the heir to odogwu Mikel, I won the mvp at the U17 and I am highly talked about within the Eagles circle. Mpako, mpako, mpako.

When I look at Amadou Haidara, a player who had nothing on Nwakali in that tourney and in that final against Mali, I say to myself, yes youth football is what it is, but pride comes before fall. Today Haidara is the fulcrum of RB Salzburg midfield and the whole of Europe are scrambling for his siggy. Marco Silva already has him penciled down as the solution to Everton's midfield come the winter/summer window. He played same position as Nwakali in Chile but for the runner ups(Mali). Nwakali was the boss and rightly so, the more heralded, today where is Nwakali compared to Haidara who took and is taking the Europa league by storm with RB Salzburg?

Mpako, mpako mpako hmmm
Damn Nwakali was in the same set as that guy?? Na wa ooo. Dude is now levels above him. Life is funny
