Facebook User - Olawoore Mariam Olufunmi shared a post two day ago on Facebook, describing how a male teacher at a school in Ifo, Ogun State 'spanked' her little sister. When the girl complained and reported to her parents, another male teacher who's friends with the said teacher, roughly beat and injured her. Mariam went to the school to report and confront the teacher on behalf of her sister, but they argued, exchanging words and she claimed he made an attempt to also hit her. Read what she wrote after the cut...

"There's this teacher in my little sister school called master chidi. During last term, my sister complained he spanked her.. We thought maybe it was a mistake not until yesterday that my sister complained about same thing. Mum was so angry that she wanted to follow her to school, I had to calm her down that she should let me handle the issue. I had to request for few hours from work, on getting there, I was not allowed to see their principal, I saw the so called "master chidi" and he couldn't deny it. We exchanged words and he almost hit me. The principal came outside, took me to his office and apologized that they are going to take necessary actions. I thanked him and left.. Abou t 4:30pm, mum called me that my sister has been beaten by one of their teachers who happened to be master chidi's friend. His reason was why can't my sister tell him before going ahead to tell her mum. Can you imagine that? The school's name is ACCESS MODEL COLLEGE IFO, OGUN STATE.."
Mariam has however given updates on the issue today. According to her,

'the matter is now at Ifo police station. The male teacher ran away when we got to the school with police to arrest him'. Also there are indications that her little sister was not the only one that was abused by the teacher.

Deputy DSA Unilag – Dr Karo Ogbinaka Responds To The Allegation That He Had A Student Arrested

https://dksehxhc973rn.cloudfront.net/036379dea8cecc6e0d1fc435e9dd9746893e2b77.jpg
It Was reported earlier that a 300 level Law student of the University of Lagos named Dolapo Olusesi, was allegedly arrested and detained by the police after the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Karo Ogbinaka, reported him to the authorities for posting a photo of him that had the inscription “I want to be dead rat” on his Facebook.

We reached out to Dr Ogbinaka to hear his own side of the story and this is what he had to say.

“I didn’t get a student arrested. I only reported the student that was threatening my life to the Vice Chancellor. If someone is threatening your life, what would be done? This is a homicide case. I hope you are aware. I said somebody is threatening my life. The student affairs is supposed to protect students and I am the deputy dean.. So I don’t know where I am related to being threatened in this issue that they’ll be wishing I am a “dead rat”.

PoliticsRe: Answers To 13 Frequently Asked Questions On The New Price Of Petrol In Nigeria by EdifiedCEO(op): 9:45am On May 12, 2016

PoliticsAnswers To 13 Frequently Asked Questions On The New Price Of Petrol In Nigeria by EdifiedCEO(op): 9:44am On May 12, 2016
http://www.newshelm.com/2016/05/answers-to-13-frequently-asked.html

The Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources has prepared a factsheet that tries to answer all our questions on the new price of petrol in Nigeria: Top 13 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

1.What is the benefit of the new price regime to Nigerians?

This government is elected to serve the people and provide benefits to all. The new pricing regime brings the following benefits:

Solves the recurrent fuel scarcity crisis by ensuring availability of products at all locations of the country
Reduce hoarding, smuggling and diversion substantially and stabilise price at the actual product price
Ensures market stability and Improves fuel supply situation through private sector participation
Creates Labour market stability (will potentially create additional 200,000 jobs through new investments in Refineries and Retails and prevent potential loss of nearly 400,000 jobs in existing investments)
2. Why the new price regime?
This has been brought about by the non-availability of foreign exchange to import petroleum products. Marketers have drastically reduced their importation since Q3 2015 due to a scarcity of forex. There is a need for them to source independent of CBN to be able to meet the nation’s demand. Also the rise in Crude oil price and prevailing high cost of importation has brought back subsidy regime (at the present price of N86.50) since April 2016. Due to decline in government income related to crude oil price and limited crude oil output caused by the spate of renewed vandalism and sabotage of oil infrastructure in the Niger Delta, there is neither funding nor appropriation to cover this in the 2016 Budget.
3. What is the difference between this new price regime and previous price reviews?
Before arriving at the new price regime, a comprehensive study of the costs of importation was undertaken. All stakeholders including marketing companies and independent experts were consulted in arriving at the appropriate cost reflective regime. This is in furtherance of the Price modulation framework rolled out in January 2016 which entails modulating prices down or up on a periodic basis to reflect actual prevailing costs.
4. Is this new price regime a deregulation?
While the Federal Government is not deregulating, the Government through this new price regime will ensure that the price of products are monitored and modulated to ensure that citizens get a fair value for products they purchase.
5. What is the real cost of PMS to the Nigerian consumer?
The estimated “true” cost of PMS was valued to be 243.05NGN per litre. This is factoring the estimated average time spent to obtain PMS at the official price (86.50NGN), the estimated hourly wage of the average Nigerian, the average price of PMS on the black market and the estimated average volume bought per visit to the filling stations and also factoring in the frequency Nigerians source PMS from the different markets
6. Why do we have scarcity?
Unavailability of Foreign exchange and Inability to open letter of credit has forced marketers to stop product importation and this imposed over 90% supply on NNPC since October 2015 in contrast to the past where NNPC supplies ~48% of the national requirement.
NNPC does not have the resources for and is not designed to meet this increase in supply, this has resulted in the current fuel situation across the country.
7. Will the new price regime ensure availability of petroleum products?
The new price regime will allow Marketers source their foreign exchange independently of CBN and ensure adequate product supply in all locations of the country whilst catering for full cost recovery and averaging of prices across the nation
8. Will the new price regime positively impact the economy?
Clearly the continuation of subsidies in any form for PMS limits the ability of Government to deliver its statutory functions such as power generation, security, education, health etc. The new price regime will enable government focus on these critical sectors and free up our scarce foreign exchange via CBN to be used in other sectors
9. What happens to the subsidy provision in the 2016 budget?
There is no provision for subsidy in the 2016 budget
10. Why should Nigerians not enjoy low petroleum prices as the nation is a Major Oil Producer?
Crude oil price is an internationally traded commodity , the prices are not set by the countries that produce it. Neither do oil producing countries get a discount in the international market for producing this product. Furthermore, crude oil price accounts for about 80% of the final cost of fuel. Other costs include depot charges, transportation costs, chemicals, spare parts, raw materials etc. is related to host of economic factors. . Therefore, at the current crude oil price of $40 per barrel, the finished domestic refined fuel sold to Nigerians cannot be priced lower than the cost of the crude plus the other associated costs incurred in converting the crude into PMS and supplying the product to the consumer.
11.How would the Government ensure that Petroleum Marketers sell within the price range?
The relevant regulatory institutions (DPR, PPPRA) will be further empowered to ensure level playing ground, strict compliance with market rules by all stakeholders and consumer protection.
12. How does petrol price in Nigeria compare with those of other countries?
Even with the new price regime, Nigeria would remain one of the cheapest fuel markets in Africa and this could even be lower once competition takes effect. Likelihood of smuggling to Neighboring countries will also be significantly reduced with the new price regime.
13. When do we stop petroleum products importation?
Nigeria will only stop products importation when it attains local production sufficiency. The present administration is working assiduously on key initiatives towards boosting our local refining capacity. The overarching objective is to create a competitive downstream petroleum market in Nigeria and be a net exporter of petroleum products by 2019.

CelebritiesVIDEO: Peter Okoye Refuses To Speak On The Tiwa - Teebillz Issues by EdifiedCEO(op): 9:38am On May 06, 2016

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTdzLg1GeII

Peter Okoye was among the people who saved Tunji 'TeeBillz' Balogun from jumping off the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge last week. In an Interview with Hip TV at an event, he shed a little light on why he refuses to comment on the situation and also shares some marriage advise.
On the Tiwa Savage & Teebillz marriage issues, he said,

"I don't want to make comment about it. It's very sensitive. I have made up my mind not to say anything about it. The way people are taking it.. You know, we are talking about life and death here. It's very sensitive and I would never comment. I would do anything to support and love them."

When asked if all celebrity marriages fail, he said, "it's not true. I don't believe that."

On keeping a good marriage, he also said,

"Just be yourself. Don't change just because you got married. Because I am married today, they say stop taking off your shirt. Stop behaving like as if you are not married. Listen, some people get married and they start living some kind of life just because they are married. I don't believe in people saying because you are married you shouldn't wear some kind of outfits. Any little thing, they'll say - don't you know you are married?. C'mon. Some people make marriage look very boring. I have seen boring marriages whereby people get married, they forget that, I mean you married your friend.

Ever since I got married & before I got married, my wife is like my friend. I love my wife to look sexy. I love when she wears some nice dresses that she normally wears. I don't want her to change because she's married. To start tying agbada. I'm sorry but it's people that make marriage look very boring. I don't want to belong there. I'm Peter Okoye and I remain Peter Okoye. I got married, I am Mr Peter Okoye and I still remain that way. I don't change for nobody. Trust Me"

PoliticsPHOTO: Nigerian Man Stabs A Fellow Nigerian To Death In Ghana Over Toothbrush by EdifiedCEO(op): 9:47pm On May 05, 2016
A 26-year-old Nigerian has been arrested by police for allegedly stabbing his compatriot to death during a brawl over a used toothbrush at the Beach Drive Road at Nungua in Accra, Ghana.

The suspect identified as Marvelous Okere-Son, a trader living together in the same room with other occupants "engaged the deceased" Sunday Orga, 27 in an open fight over his stolen tooth brush on Saturday, April 30, 2016.

Speaking to Starr News, the Greater Accra Regional Police spokesperson Afia Tenge, said in the course of the confrontation Okere took a bottle, broke it and stabbed the left rib of the deceased.

Reports received indicated that the suspect and deceased were from Delta State, Nigeria and arrived in Ghana only two weeks and were squatting with five other Nigerians.

On that fateful day, the victim, Sunday Organ after realizing that his friend Marvelous had taken his tooth brush and had not returned it, he confronted him. This led to a fierce fight. They were separated and told to vacate the room.

The two continued the fight outside the compound. The deceased slapped the suspect. In anger Marvelous grabbed an empty wine bottle, broke it and used the sharp edge to stab Organ on the head and back. The victim fell down and lost consciousness.

"He bled profusely and when he was rushed to the LEKMA Hospital he passed on," Tenge stated. Upon interrogation, the suspect said he stabbed his colleague because he slapped him.

Okere was arrested by the police, charged for murder and is being processed for court. The remain of Orga has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy while investigation continues.
