Adamawa Police Command has confirmed the death of four of its men in clash with gunmen in Numan Local Government Area. The command spokesman, SP Othman Abubakar, who confirmed the incident to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Yola said the four policemen killed were not Mopol but from Numan divisional headquarters who were on patrol. Abubakar said the identity of the gunmen was yet to be ascertained. He said contrary to speculation by the public that the killing was by Fulani militia on reprisal attack, the command was still investigating the incident and had further boost security in the area with support from the military. “We don’t want to work on speculations and I want to urge the public and media to shun rumour mongers and speculations that would further raise tension in Numan and its environs,” Abubakar said. He, however, confirmed that the speculations of reprisal attacks has resulted in some residents of Numan and its environs to start moving to Yola, the state capital, and other places they considered safe. Some residents of Numan, the third largest town in Adamawa, told NAN that the town was now deserted with shops and markets closed. “The markets and shops are closed as people remain in their houses while others are leaving the town because of rumours of impending reprisal attack. “The tension was further heightened with the report that some policemen were killed by the attackers who attempted to enter Numan in the night,” a resident who simply identified himself as Ibrahim said NAN recalled that two weeks ago about 50 people, mostly women and children, were killed in Numan area by gunmen alleged to be Bachama militia. The Inspector General of Police, Mr Idris Ibrahim, who visited Adamawa over the incident last Tuesday, had directed the deployment of five units of Mobile policemen to contain tension and further attacks in the area. https://cdn.ghanaweb.com/imagelib/pics/22788422.jpgDr. Wiafe-Addai has asserted that the breast of a woman is a very fragile part of a woman's anatomy The president of Breast Care International Dr. Beatrice Wiafe -Addai has urged men to handle the breast of women with care as it is a very fragile part of a woman’s anatomy. Speaking on the sidelines of the breast cancer awareness month which is celebrated in October every year, Dr. Wiafe-Addai told Starr Fm morning show host Francis Abban that contrary to claims that the sucking of breast by men reduces the risk of getting breast cancer in women, those claims are untrue. “It is not true that the more you suck a woman’s breast it prevents the risk of getting breast cancer. What is true is that women who have children should breastfeed, and breastfeeding has some positive effect on the woman as far as breast cancer is concerned. But not adult men to go and suck the breast thinking it will protect the woman from breast cancer, that is not true, it is very fragile so let’s handle it with care…don’t squeeze it like you have some mango or orange that you are squeezing to get some fluid out,” Dr. Wiafe-Addai counselled. Dr. Wiafe-Addai also advised men not to abandon women diagnosed with breast cancer but rather help to fight it. “If you find something in a woman’s breast don’t send her to her family home because she has been diagnosed of breast cancer. Give her all the morale even if not financial. So that she knows that someone is with her through the fight. The fight against breast cancer is not an easy one so women need all the support from men, society and the nation,” she noted http://www.newshelmng.com/2017/10/stop-squeezing-your-womans-breasts.html https://i2.wp.com/thesheet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/yaw-and-cossy1.jpg |

Olympic runner Alysia Montaño on Thursday raced at the U.S.A. Track & Field Outdoor Championships in Sacramento while she was five months pregnant, in 100-degree heat - and she beat her time for the last Championship she raced while also pregnant. Three years ago, she competed in the same race when she was eight months pregnant. She was able to take 10 seconds off her 800-meter time from 2014. “People were like, oh, you’re going to run faster than you did last time because you’re less pregnant, I was like, I’m still pregnant” Montaño told LetsRun.com. Montaño isn’t the only athlete to compete while pregnant. In January, Serena Williams played in the Australian Open and won the title while pregnant. Montaño said she was inspired after learning that Gal Gadot filmed half of Wonder Woman while she was five months pregnant. “I saw Wonder Woman, and I was like, I for sure am signing up for USA Nationals. I already was thinking I was going to do it” she said. http://www.newshelmng.com/2017/06/photo-olympic-athlete-alysia-montano.html cc lalasticlala

Rotimi Amaechi, Nigeria's Minister of Transportation, is claiming to have once rejected a one billion naira bribe while he was governor of Rivers State. Amaechi made the claim while speaking at an event in Lagos. He said,“My first confrontation with bribe was with a big contractor in Rivers State. After awarding the contract, he brought a billion naira. I screamed. “I asked, where did you get the money? and he said from what he got (from the contract) and I said ‘look, that means you over quoted the contract’. ''I said the only reason you are giving me N1 billion was because if the contract was N32 billion, you made it N37 billion. The Abuja Court of Appeal has nullified the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT's ruling which found former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe guilty of false asset declaration. In a unanimous judgement, a three-man panel of Justices of the appellate court voided the ruling that Orubebe falsely declared his assets in 2007. Led by Justice Mohammed Abdul Aboki, the court said it voided Orubebe’s conviction on the premise that the CCT verdict occasioned a miscarriage of justice against him. Orubebe had in his Notice of Appeal marked CA/A/633c/2016, urged the appellate court to not only set-aside judgment the Justice Danladi Umar-led tribunal delivered against him on October 4, 2016, but to equally discharge and acquit him of the charge. http://www.newshelmng.com/2017/06/orubebe-discharged-and-acquitted-of.html cc lalasticlala mynd44 |
The federal government has said that steps were already on to get copies of the ruling, discharging Bukola Saraki from the false asset accusation trial. The prosecution counsel, Pious Kehinde, after the ruling said the federal government will study the ruling and determine the next course of action. The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on Wednesday upheld the no-case submission made by the Senate President Bukola Saraki thereby discharging him of the false and anticipatory asset declaration charge leveled against him by the Federal Government. The Tribunal Chairman, Danladi Umar while delivering ruling on Saraki's no-case submission held that the prosecution did not established a prima facie case against Saraki to warrant requesting the Senate President to enter a defence. http://www.newshelmng.com/2017/06/federal-government-reacts-to-cct-ruling_14.html cc lalasticlala mynd44 |
