Ahead of the 2019 gubernatorial election scheduled for November 16th 2019, the Peoples Democratic Party flag bearer, Engineer Musa Wada (PhD) launched his official campaign portal http://www.wadaaroofficial.com/.

On the portal, he wrote an open letter to the people of Kogi state. In his letter, he noted that the state have in many ways not fared well as it should. He enjoined the citizens to join hands with him to salvage the pitiable situation of the state and its people.

A LETTER TO KOGI PEOPLE:

My dearest brothers and sisters, my name is Engineer Musa Wada.

I come to you today because history currently beckons on every man, woman and youth of goodwill to reflect on how well we have fared as a people bound by a common destiny.

The significance of this reflection is not lost on me but I have been left with no serious answer to the most important question which starred me in the face which I also think is of utmost importance to you as a distinguished citizen of our dear State.

How well have we fared as a people?

As a state, with exception of interventions by a few individuals who meant and still mean well for our state and people, we have not fared any better since 1999. While our contemporaries are used to recording breath taking achievements, we have been reduced to mere spectators.

Although we pride ourselves as a people blessed with enormous human and natural resources, we have remained backward as a society and I have several reasons to believe that ours is a case of a failed leadership. Granted, development is case specific but we must admit that only few states exist in Nigeria which shares the same leadership burden as our State.

While some states have started receiving their citizens who were state-sponsored to Europe and Asia for tertiary education, higher institutions of learning owned by the Kogi State Government are still subject to all manner of open and close politics.

As one of you, I am privileged to have seen several states in Nigeria where government works for the people.  Starting from the North Central City of Nasarawa where I obtained my first degree to the coastal city of Calabar in the South South. From Lagos where I worked; making friends in Nigeria’s corporate world to Abuja where I reached the peak of my meritorious years of service.

In the course of these movements, I saw and experienced the surprises an effective leadership can spring. I saw rare leadership and distinguished legacies of effective governance.

A major takeaway from these experiences is that a whole lot of good progress can be achieved where there is responsible leadership that is visionary. A leadership that is strong and decisive. A leadership that is desperate to succeed and a leadership that is determined to break even against all odds. Our people are responsible and hardworking but a strong leader is needed to complement these attributes. I believe that Kogi people should be respected in Nigeria.

I believe my people should be able to say with pride that they are natives of Idah, Okehi, Kabba, Ajaokuta, Aiyetoro Gbede, Ihima, Ankpa, Dekina, Anyigba, Okene, Ibaji and Ejule. I believe my brothers and sisters from Ogbonicha should have amongst them European trained doctors and engineers. I strongly believe that Gbobe and Okene can have in their domain serving men and women of the Nigeria Army, The Nigeria Airforce and The Nigeria Customs Service.

My dear owners of Kogi State, it is in consideration of the enormity of the avoidable failures we are confronted with these challenges that I, Engr. Musa Wada have been led to offer myself to be your governor if given the opportunity.

Beyond everything else, I want to rewrite the narratives and create a new Kogi State for us and generations unborn. I want to set a new standards of life for our people so that we as a people can stop being in the news for the wrong reasons.

It is on this premise that I formally write to intimate your esteemed self of my intention to contest the governorship position of our dear state. By virtue of your reading this letter, Sir/Madam I appeal that we work together to achieve a new world of positive possibilities in Kogi State to meet the yearnings of our people.

On this basis, I formally seek your support to establish a “new performance based social contract” between leadership and followership with me as governor.

I believe a new Kogi is possible and it starts with your valuable support for my aspiration for the highest seat in Kogi state comes 2019.

While counting on your support for my aspiration to become the next governor of Kogi state comes 2019, I assure you of my highest regards at all times.

According him it was due to the heavy downpour that the cause the flood which affected many houses and the prison building. The acting Chief Immam of Koton-Karfi Karfi central mosque, Saidu Suleiman Nuhu who also spoke said river Osugu over flooded and destroyed so many houses including the prison which led to the escape of some inmates.

The Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello yesterday the 26th of October 2019, flagged off his campaign for the governorship race in Idah, the headquarter of Igala Kingdom.

If humans could create all these amazing things. Things like airplane, robots, spaceships, gyroscope and even computers. Then there's a higher being that created humans.

Scientists speak of a big bang that happened 14bn years ago. But what caused that? And what happened before it? I can't really get my head around the idea that there was a time when time itself started. What happened a second before that? It is a very similar problem. I suspect this is why Christians speak of God as uncreated, or as having created himself.

Consequently, the All Share Index (ASI) decreased by 40.70 points or 0.15 per cent to close at 26,357.24 against 26,397.94 achieved on Wednesday.

Similarly, the market capitalisation lost N19 billion or 0.15 per cent to close at N12.831 trillion in contrast with N12.850 trillion on Wednesday.

GlaxoSmithKline followed with a loss of 9.38 per cent to close at N5.80, while Ikeja Hotel depreciated by 9.32 per cent to close at N1.07 per share.

However, the total volume traded surged 54.41 per cent to 449.24 million shares valued at N1.64 billion traded in 2,810 deals.

Omoluabi Mortgage Bank topped the activity chart with 272 million shares valued at N149.6 million.

The next step inevitably involves artificial intelligences aiding, or even completely replacing lawyers. And if we have robot lawyers, why not automated judges and juries too? Why not a fully solid-state legal system?

Apart from the possibility of getting a fairer result, raw economics come into play too.
