PoliticsKogi Guber: I Regret The Violence And Deaths Recorded - Yahaya Bello by Editorialtimes(op): 8:40pm On Nov 28, 2019

The Kogi State Executive Council has condemned in strong terms, incidences of violence during and after the November 16 governorship election in the state, describing it as “sad and unfortunate”.

The decision of the Council was made known after its meeting by the Director General of Media and Publicity to the Governor, Hon Kingsley Fanwo while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the meeting.

According to him, the Council “expressed shock at the pockets of violence during the election.”

“The State Executive Council has condemned in strong terms, the pockets of violence which greeted the last Governorship election in the state”, he said, adding that “loss of lives in the struggle for power is mindless and unacceptable”.

“The Council also commended security agencies for their efforts at bringing purveyors and promoters of  such violence to a book with a view to sending a strong signal to hoodlums that the Kogi State Government will not accept any threat to the lives of the people of the state.

“Of particular reference was the woman who was burnt in Ochadamu and the man who was stabbed to death. We also got reports of direct attacks on some politically exposed persons with the intent of terminating their lives.

“Democracy should be a bloodless celebration of the freedom of the people to choose their leaders and no one should hide behind loyalty to any political party to perpetrate crime.

“As a Government, we will give security agencies every support to track down and prosecute those who hid under politics to perpetrate crime. But beyond that, we will compensate families that lost loved ones and properties. We know nothing could pay for the life of a human; but as a Government, our hearts are with those bereaved families”.

The State Executive Council also passed a resolution, giving unflinching support to the National Assembly over its moves to ensure violence free elections.

“We commend the leadership of the National Assembly over moves to criminalize electoral violence and protect lives during elections. Their action will go a long way in restoring peace at the polls”, he said.

The State Executive Council also deliberated on the 2020 Budget Drafts as well as resolved to digitize access to the relevant laws of the state, especially those signed into law under the present administration.

The heat for the presidential race in 2023 just got hotter as the campaign poster of Professor Yemi Osinbajo and Sen. Tanko Almakura surfaces online. Earlier this year, there were rumors that Mr. Tinubu is gearing up for the race of office of the President of Nigeria as well.

Others say that Mallam Nasir El Rufai is also warming up for the race for the office of the President of Nigeria.

Last month, Osinbajo's aides were transferred from his office to other agencies in what analysts say was a move to reduce his power for the race for 2023.

PoliticsNgozi Okonjo-Iweala Visits Kibera, Africa's Largest Slum (Photos) by Editorialtimes(op): 6:53pm On Nov 28, 2019

Kibera is the largest slum in Narirobi and the largest urban slum in Africa. It is located in the south west of Nairobi, about 5 km from the city centre in Kenya.

The former Nigerian minister of Finance shared a post on her Facebook page about her visit to Kibera.

She wrote"

This #Thanksgiving, I'm reflecting on my recent visit to Kibera - Africa's largest urban slum. I was humbled to observe the grit and resilience of people living in the informal settlement, the majority of whom migrate from rural areas in search of jobs and a better life.

This kind of rapid urbanisation brings serious challenges: inadequate housing, overcrowding, poor sanitation, and grinding poverty. It also exacerbates a number of health issues such as the pressing need for immunisation strategies geared to urban populations.

https://i2.wp.com/www.editorialtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/FB_IMG_1574961769946.jpg?w=720

I applaud the dedication and commitment of health workers like Joy - a young woman who is continuing her mother’s legacy by supporting the delivery of immunisation and other essential health services to Kibera residents. CDC Kenya, Kenya Medical Research Institute, Amref Health Africa and Carolina for Kibera.

https://i2.wp.com/www.editorialtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/FB_IMG_1574961782696.jpg?resize=630%2C420

A crucial step in meeting the immunisation needs of the urban poor is to use data to uncover obstacles to vaccine access. This will help to map the reality on the ground and clearly identify inequities. Knowing where our efforts are best spent brings us closer to ensuring that everyone – no matter where they live – is healthy and thriving".

The former aviation minister, Mr. Femi Fani Kayode took to his twitter page to call out the Nigerian Police Force for the lopsided promotion of its officers to the rank of commissioners.

According to him, the northwest and northeast got 20 slots while the southeast got just 1.

He went further to state that slots that the northwest and northeast got in this year’s promotion was more than what the remaining four geopolitical zones got combined.

Earlier, Mr. FFK had accused Turkey and the Saudi Arabia for sponsoring Fulani herdsman, Boko Haram and ISIS against the Nigerian Christians.

It is unclear whether the accusations are true or not.

Recall that the Nigerian government accused Turkey of aiding and sponsoring Boko Haram. A claim which Turkey is yet to deny or accept.

However, the post got mixed reactions from Nigerians on Twitter.

Foreign AffairsVideo: President Trump Grants Presidential Pardon To A Live Turkey by Editorialtimes(op): 5:01pm On Nov 27, 2019
Editorial Times | Lagos

https://i2.wp.com/www.editorialtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/download-1.jpeg?fit=2290%2C1322

According to history, the tradition of pardoning a turkey bird by the POTUS predates the reign of President W.H Bush.

According to Wiki articles, the National Thanksgiving Turkey Presentation is a ceremony that takes place at the White House every year shortly before Thanksgiving. The President of the United States is presented with a live domestic turkey by the National Turkey Federation (NTF), usually males of the Broad Breasted White variety.

The early years also included a joint presentation with the Poultry and Egg National Board. The ceremony dates back to the 1940s, with presidents occasionally sparing the bird presented to them; during the Presidency of George H. W. Bush, it became a tradition (since carried on by all of Bush's successors) for the president to issue a mock "pardon" to the turkey, sparing the turkey's life.

It's a tradition that the turkeys be picked from the chairperson of the NTF's home state, occasionally from the chair's own farm.

On various occasions, turkeys had been donated to the President as gifts from private citizens. Horace Vose, a Rhode Island turkey farmer, presented a turkey to the President each year from 1873 until his death in 1913.

The official presentation of a turkey to the President each year began in 1947 under President Harry Truman. The presentation was partially borne out of a lobbying campaign: the Truman Administration, in an effort to conserve grain for foreign aid campaigns, began promoting "Meatless Tuesdays" and "Poultryless Thursdays" in the autumn of 1947. Not only did American citizens quickly grow frustrated with the (voluntary, but strongly encouraged) restrictions and begin disregarding them in short order, the National Poultry and Egg Board, incensed at the attack on their industry, noted that not only was Thanksgiving on a Thursday (thus making the annual Thanksgiving turkey a taboo), but Christmas and New Year's Day also landed on a Thursday that year.

PoliticsJibrin Echocho: Salome Abuh, A Victim Of Retaliatory Attack In Kogi (Video) by Editorialtimes(op): 8:10am On Nov 27, 2019
Editorial Times | Abuja

Mrs. Salome Ache met an ill fated incident that took her life. She was very active in the electioneering campaigns, exercised her civic right by voting. Then the whole stress took a toll on her body. She decided to rest and while asleep, thugs invaded her house. They set the house ablaze and prevented her from escaping the fire by blocking all exits while shooting sporadically at her.

She was heard according to an eyewitness, shouting and crying for help in agony as the fire devoured her.

She eventually lost the war and lost the battle, she died. The fire consumed her body.

A senator from representing Kogi under the APC has reacted.

He said: “I want to commend the mover of the last motion in respect of electoral violence in Kogi and in particular the woman in question.

“I want to say it here that, that woman only happened to be a victim of circumstance, she was a very peace-loving woman but the attack on her was retaliatory.

“The attack was an attack on APC when Yahaya Bello was declared a winner. Two people almost died, they are on danger list in the hospital arising from that attack.

“It was a retaliatory attack on PDP and unfortunately she became the victim very painful.”

The lawmaker, however, called for legislation that would check electoral violence in Nigeria, adding that violence was an unfortunate development in elections.

He revealed how he almost lost his life due to violence in the guber polls.

“Going forward, I want to believe there is an urgent need for laws against election violence in Nigeria. Bill’s that will put in place various deterrent measures against election violence in Nigeria.

“I almost lost my life during the election, some people are on danger list, one person died yesterday as a result of the violence and similar violence happened at various locations in Bayelsa State.

“I want to propose that way forward there should be sanctions that should act as deterrent to occurrence of any form of violence, before, during and after any election.”

Meanwhile, James Manager, representing Delta South Senatorial District, condemned the heinous act, insisting that the burning of the PDP Women Leader was an act taken too far.

Manager insisted: “The death of the Kogi Women Leader was most unfortunate and I condemn it for every reason I condemn it.

“Whether it is retaliatory or whatever that must never happen. I want to agree with the President that those who perpetrated that dastardly act must be fished out and if they have been arrested as reported in the media they must be paraded for everybody to see,

“This one must not be swept under the carpet. For a woman to be burnt to ashes I think it is an abomination.”

PoliticsKogi Guber: APM Approaches Court, Calls For Cancellation Of Election by Editorialtimes(op): 4:13pm On Nov 26, 2019
Editorial Times | Abuja

https://i0.wp.com/www.editorialtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/apm.jpeg?fit=1200%2C1200

A disenfranchised political party, The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) seeks the cancellation of the Kogi State Governorship election held on November 16th 2019 as its candidate Mr. Daniel was excluded from the party.

The party in a letter to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) Prof Mahmoud Yakubu and signed by Joseph Oluwarotimi Ojo, of Rotimi Ojo & Co, Solicitors and Advocates, dated November 20th, asked for the voiding of the already conducted Kogi State Governorship election within three days of receipt of its letter and conduct of a fresh election with the full inclusion of APM Governorship Candidate.

In the letter to INEC, the party would be seeking legal redress in the tribunal if INEC does the contrary, insisting that the alleged exclusion of APM has denied the candidate the adequate preparation to attend all activities before the election, canvas for votes, nominate and submit names of polling agents, an action that caused the exclusion of APM from the election.

Earlier, INEC had disobeyed to the court orders to include the name of the party’s candidate, the commission denied the candidate from participating in all activities leading to the election. More so, even the party is wondering why 01 vote was allocated to APM in some registration areas even when they did not participate in the election.

The letter insisted that the inclusion of the name of the APM candidate and logo which was allegedly written in handwriting on the summary results sheets from registration areas and collation centres at the local government level was an afterthought.

The letter observed that INEC failed to make provision for agents at polling units as required by law.

The INEC, had before the Kogi State Governorship election, disqualified the APM candidate and party for fielding an underage deputy governorship candidate.

The party according to the letter was said to have been denied the right for substitution even within the stipulated window period.

Earlier this year, the Senior Pastor of House of Freedom, Dr. Tony Rapu, and his team visited Ipodo, a notorious street in Ikeja, Lagos State and in the process rescued 26-year-old Lizzy, who has taken to begging, hard drugs and prostitution as means of survival.

Lizzy, who attended two prestigious schools in Lagos; Caleb Nursery and Primary School as well as Vivian Fowler Secondary School, Billingsway, Oregun, has been suffering from drug addiction for seven years.

Lizzy said her ex-boyfriend introduced her to smoking of weed. He, thereafter, told her he had been mixing her wraps up with cocaine. “I couldn’t visit any rehabilitation centre because I thought it wouldn’t help. I started with weed smoking, then one day, my boyfriend told me he had been adding cocaine and I was surprised. I asked him why he would do such without my consent, but it wasn’t long before I got addicted to it. It became so critical that I had to take to begging during the day and prostitution at night.”

Recently pictures of rehabilitated Lizzy was shared online.

Mrs. Ugwu first came to the attention of the public when Mr. Ekundayo Awe spearheaded a fundraiser to appreciate her for her integrity.

Today, Mrs. Ugwu was appreciated by President Buhari with a house key and national recognition. This President Buhari did when he declared open a 2 day summit on anti corruption in Abuja.

"In 2006, Ms Josephine Ugwu’s monthly salary was N12,000 but she found and returned over N10 million at Enugu Airport where she was working as a cleaner.

In 2014, she found and returned N8 million at Lagos Airport. In the same year, she found and returned N7 million at the same airport. In 2015, she found and returned $12 million from the same airport and in 2019 she found and returned N200,000 at the private wing of MMA. The story sounds like fairy tale but it’s true.

Ms Ugwu is the last of 12 children of her parents. She lost her mother when she was 8 months old. She grew up having an uneasy life but she has proven herself over the years in her place of work as a woman of honesty and integrity.

Today, President Muhammadu Buhari recognised the exemplary honesty and worthy conduct of Ms. Ugwu and presented her with a house key while declaring open a 2-day National Summit on Diminishing Corruption in Public Service organised by ICPC.

An extraterrestrial alien-like mummy has been found in a pyramid in Egypt. It was discovered that it was well preserved and all the features in place.

It is between 1,50 and 1,69 centimeters long or high.

Archeologist say that it is about 2000 years old and looks like a humanoid. According to the inscription on the controversial extraterrestrial mummy's tomb, it was referred to as Osirunet meaning "sent from the sky"
The body was buried along with other things that could not be identified. The identifiable items around the place are clothings, pottery and gold.

The mummy was discovered by Dr. Viktor Lubek, a professor formerly with the university of Pennsylvania.

The artifacts found around the tomb were made of unidentifiable synthetic materials.

Some theories suggested that the alien king for whatever reason ended up as a king in Egypt.

The government has according to reports contacted some reknowned archaeologists but none has been able to reach a plausible conclusion as to what the king was.
Although, Egyptians have refused to believe that their origin came from extraterrestrial life forms.

The above is a map of Africa and its kingdoms before the invasion of Europeans.

According journals on notes on tribes and provinces, there were many great kingdoms and territories before the invasion of Europeans and Asians.
There were the great kingdoms like the Ife of the Yorubas that extended up to parts of the present day Edo state.

There was the NOK province. The Nok culture is an early Iron Age population whose material remains are named after the Ham village of Nok in Kaduna State of Nigeria, where their famous terracotta sculptures were first discovered in 1928.

The great Igala kingdom lost the Kwararafa people after much agitation for independence. The Igala stood and fought off the Jukuns and the Binis in what were fierce territorial wars.
Disagreement led to the Igala kingdom losing both the Nupes in the present day Niger state, the Egbiras and Idomas in the present day Benue state.

The great Hausa kingdom according to Temple C. stood tall and was almost indomitable until the Fulani invasion.

The Igbo kingdom were largely peacemakers and had stayed centuries without engaging in major wars until the kingdom was colonize by the Europeans.

Eri, the god-like founder of Nri, is believed to have settled the region around 948 with other related Igbo cultures following after in the 13th century. The first Eze Nri (King of Nri) Ìfikuánim followed directly after him. According to Igbo oral tradition, his reign started in 1043.

THERE HAS BEEN MUCH SPECULATION ABOUT THE ORIGINS OF THE IGBO PEOPLE, AS IT IS UNKNOWN HOW EXACTLY THE GROUP CAME TO FROM.
