Armaggedon: schools base their requirement for masters on CGPA not on class of degree. Some schools accepts below 3:0 for direct masters programme, most accept above. Some reject 3:0 while many school abroad only accept minimun of 3:7 and 4:0 CGPA for masters, which going by your 2:1 analogy, shows that not all second class upper is good enough. . Those who get 2:1 and first class, congrats. 2:1 and first class still have edge when it comes to masters' degree programme according to ur analogy. |

obainosis4real: so u are saying that the first class graduate shud not write his\her grade likewise the third class? . Simple English. I said first class, 2:1 and 2:2 should add there grade in their CV e.g University Of Benin, Edo State, Nigeria. 2014 B.Eng, Mechanical Engineering Second Class (Hons) Upper Division That is what I meant initially. |

Mendelssohn: I'm always surprised when I see pieces like this. Much as I won't deny it's strength of admonition, I will also not want to skip the fact that it's not meant to be restricted within a sphere of a class of graduates as unemployment now cuts across all categories of graduates. But then, I'm more baffled with this recent argument that 2:2 is such a bad show which can almost thwart a chance of getting a good job or ability to further in one's academic trajectory. The truth is, having a 2:2 implies an average performance of between 50% - 69% on a scale of 100%. In O-level, that's between A3 and C6 which still has a distinction as one of the grades while others are not considered a bad appearance. So what's the noise about? Contrary to what I recently read here(think last week)..... that a 2:2 grad can't go for masters in Nigeria, I continued to wonder why most Nigerians don't get info with precision before expressing such in the public domain. There's no such higher institution in Nigeria that rejects any 2:2 result. School like Unilag which is the latest I know about, does not even make your transcript compulsory as you can submit your certificate in lieu, once it carries 2:2 and above. Same as UI, Unilorin and OAU that I know much about. So what's the misinformation all about? . That is where u know reach OK. 2:2 below 3 points in UNIBEN can't go for master's degree programme direct. some departments can't even accept 2:2 above 3points for master's degree programme direct in UNIBEN |

obainosis4real: Pls is it advisable 4 one not to add he\her grade on the CV? . Yes especially first class, 2:1 and 2:2. if you have 2:2, just write Second Class Honours. No HR will know if it is 2:1 or 2:2 except they interview you. |

I studied mechanical Engineering and graduated with a good grade and I also have Post Graduate Diploma in Customer relationship management. I am an Associate in CICRM. So, it is not only the Pass, Third class and Second class lower graduates that are doing those professional courses Mr. Writer. I have valuable experience in maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, diagnosis, assemble, disassemble and services in the automotive industry. I am a diagnostic Technician also. Currently, I am doing well. See, it God's grace and who you know. |

collinsoft: Bros, I meant sending a friendly message to HR personnel. I understand some persons got job by submitting their resume on career portals of companies while other sent their resume to HR persons of various companies.
Why I am a bit curious is because I have been getting updates on my LinkedIn profile of companies and people of repute checking up my profile while some request that I add them up.
I created a thread asking of the significance of people checking your linkedin profile but I would need no clarification on this.
Forumite, kindly shed more light please. . Which course did you study? Do you have experience in your discipline? All courses are not marketable. let us statt from there |

hmmm what the parable in the bible about the debtor who coumdnt forgive again?...
anyways its a free world .... . So you are expecting me to go to cafe, buy time with my money, pay for bike with my money and send it to you. Go to a business center, edit for you and pay the person and send it to you. All these things are they free ? If they are free, I will send it to you free. With this analysis, judge your statement. Even in free town, nothing is free and even in the Church, the Bible is not free. |

collinsoft: Bros, I don't know how effective linkedin.com has been to job seeker. I recently updated my resume on linkedin and also ensure I search for numerous HR personnel, connect with them and send them email for job opening. Has this ever worked for you? Am just a bit curious. I would appreciate you response of the above subject and if you could shed more light on the discussion, it would be welcomed. . You can't just wake up and start sending people jobs opening. You make friends first. Join in group discussion and say them a wish or congratulation in whatever they have done or achieve before talk about jobs. |

Fellow naiaralande
On LinkedIn, always make good friendship and do follow up. start by asking your friends how they are doing and weekend on LinkedIn. Send them good messages like for birthday and others. Job shouldn't be your focus point initially, just start with friendship first. Search for name of companies and follow up on their page. contribute in whatever they are doing even though it is congratulation.
Best regards, EdoBoy90. |

Vendoor: The state of basic infrastructure in Esan land is an eye saw.... Roads are on a critical state.
Forget about politics, Oshomole failed Esan people. He didnt include Esan people in his cabinet....
Just wondering how he is going to campaign in those areas. . Shut up young man. Chief Tony Anineh was the Minister of works during OBJ and that Benin to Auchi road was awarded @ 2.5bn and he embezzled the money. what of Arch. Mike Onelomemen, what did he do for Esan land when he was the former minister of works during GE tenure? That is Tony Anenih errant boy. Chief Tony Anenih was BOT chairman for many years, what did he do for Esan people? Nothing. What did he do for Esan land? Thanks to Prof. Ambrose Alli and Admiral Aikhomo. They have good records in Esan than Chief Tony Anenih and Arch. Mike Onelomelemen. Anenih should be ashamed of himself. |

first of all. Even though jobberman rewritten CV with pass or third class, will u get a call? This beat my imagination. They are just there to delude graduates. what is important is your professional experience. what can you offer to the company? just let your CV be neat and in order. Avoid past tense in your professional experience and personal pronoun "I" in your profile summary. To get a good CV is hard bcus we were not taught in school but in trial and error you will get one. |
