Things are not going to change overnight. Most people will accept that. What is expected though is a quick and profound change in how the new government manages the various challenges that the country faces. |
babeface3:So the more than 40% SW voters who voted for Mr Jonathan are saboteurs? Yoruba politics is slightly more advanced than the rest. Individually, Yorubas are more independent when it comes to voting. As popular as Awolowo was in the first republic, a sizable proportion of Yorubas still voted for his opposition. Even today, as dominant as APC appear to be in Lagos, they are sweating right now about the governorship election. This tells you that in the SW, you're never going to get the laughable 98% votes posted for a single party like you do in the SS and SE. |
Why do people in the East, and in fact some Edos feel betrayed when Yorubas vote in their own independent ways. When did Yorubas sign an accord that mandate them to follow Niger Deltans and Igbos like mumu. Yorubas are different. Get that. |
meforyou1:Why does everyone blame Yorubas for any setback that befall them? Wetin Yorubas take do una? Do you understand that more than 40% of voters in the SW voted Jonathan? |
This is serious o. Diplomatic statements are often spoken in codes. For the US in particular to go this far, when they know that the opposition will lash on to their words to unleash mayhem if they dont win - it means they probably have real evidence of manipulation of voting figures after votes were cast. I think the US and UK are ready to throw Jonathan under the bus if he messes up. |
Banjella:Pls let's all calm down. There're some big PDP voting areas to come. Whatever we APC folks think, PDP is a formidable party and not easy to dislodge. |
Also happy Mr Buhari should get a decent number of votes despite PDP's spoiler tactics in Edo yesterday. |
Wow, very tight. Happy my people delivered for APC. My PDP extremist cousin had told me PDP would clear our area! |
If these results are correct, they are shocking. Seems the little votes PDP got was probably down to wrong voting - people who just couldn't identify Buhari's party on the ballot box ![]() It also suggests that even PDP 'leaders' and 'party officials' didn't vote for Mr Jonathan becos they should number more than the votes recorded for PDP. |
These Akure results portends disaster for Jonathan/Mimiko. Am suprised cause Akure and Ondo axis are supposed to be PDP's last great hope in Ondo State, since APC is expected to do very well in Ondo North and South senatorial districts. And this is a state where APC has never done well. |
Ngwakwe:You still have not addressed the key issue. 1. Why was the original price - cut announcement portrayed to be accross the board. 2. Why did it take probing journalists to force this latest 'clarification' from the NERC. It's all political deceit intended to put this dubious govt in good light in the lead up to elections. |
Chiefpriest1:By not clarifying initially, the PDP govt intended news of the price cut to misinform the public. It's classic PDP deceit. |
This is a wicked govt, the like of which we have not seen for a long time. Mr Jonathan cares not about the masses but he's happy to surround himself with oil subsidy thieves. He must go. |
Why is PDP such a wicked party. No relief for long suffering masses, but Mr Jonathan is happy to protect oil subsidy thieves. What a man. |
Just over a week ago, Mr Jonathan's govt trumpeted a proposed 50% cut in electricity tarriffs. Millions of long suffering Nigerians electricity customers welcomed the news. But as is usually the case, when this govt announces any 'good' news, you have to shine your eyes well well because there's always a sting in the tail somewhere. Following intense pressure from inquisitive journalists, the NERC - the electricity price regulating body - 'clarified' today that the price cut is not for residential customers. It will only affect industrial and commercial customers. So no relief for the masses. And why deceive them in the first place? Is there no limit to the wickedness of this govt? http://www.punchng.com/business/business-economy/electricity-tariff-cut-not-for-residential-consumers-nerc/ |
What Obama really really wanted to say but couldn't say for fear of accusation of interference in a democratic process is this: 1. Mr Jonathan, make sure this election hold. 2. No nonsense palava if you lose. Just quit. I am watching ya! |
anytexy:Being popular is not the same as being influential. For example, Tinubu is not popular, but he's super influential. Currently no one compares to him when it comes to real politics. The man is a political wizard who can play all shades of politics ![]() Buhari's current universal standing has a lot to do with the 'Western boys' (Tinubu) who are the brains behind his repackaging. People like Amaechi have also thrown a lot of money in the project. |
OrlandoOwoh:Your question is not clear to me. But in relation to Amaechi, prior to his fallout with Mr Jonathan, little was known of him outside his region. That's not a slight on him, as the way Nigeria is, it is difficult for a State governor to have influence beyond his state, let alone across all Nigeria. |
MRBENZENE:At the national level, I can't think of any. |
donfineboi:Without the Tinubu's political mastery, there would have been no APC, nor will it have been able to hold itself together. Buhari has a lot of supporters up north, but without Tinubu throwing his weight behind him, Mr Jonathan will have enjoyed another easy ride to election victory in 2015. |
Aspireahead:Amaechi is not influential at the national level, though he enjoys a lot of sympathy in his struggles against the President and his hatchet men. |
Tinubu. Then the rest. |
It's either Mr Jonathan did not complete any PhD program but was awarded one anyway based on his wealth and position in society, or his thesis is a copy and paste effort full of plagiarised materials the release of which will subject him to even more domestic and international ridicule. |
If not for America's 'we are watching you' stance, Mr Jonathan's original plan to postpone elections indefinitely and hand over to an interim govt will have been executed by now. The President and his hatchet team have been exploring alternative plans, but each time a senior member of the US govt calls Mr Jonathan, they remind him there will be consequences. I know PDP kids will soon rush here and say who is America. You wait. Let the President mess up this election, then you will see. His case will be worse than Gbabgo. |
queensmith:I no dey even read his comments let alone respond to him. As soon as I see his moniker, I move on. I dont have time for a characterless schemer. |
When the time comes to pay back the borrowed money the govt is spending anyhow, Nigeria's chicke will come home to roost. |
In 2014, the govt released N50 billion intervention fund to the electricity companies because they were on the verge of going under due to low revenue. Now, the same govt slashes their revenue by 50%. If the companies were barely surviving under the old price, how will they cope with 50% less revenue. The govt will have to subsidise the companies with even more billions now . That is why the electricity companies (who were the major contributions to the infamous N21 Billion campaign money) will not complain about the slash in price. The President and his inept finance minister insist oil subsidy must go. However, for their own election salvation, they're happy to open a new subsidy corruption channel in the power sector? Only God can save us from this President and PDP! |
Isn't that her bra on her arm?? What a first lady |
We need people to hold this president down, pour water on his head, tell him to calm down and that they are not there to cause him any harm. They should then ask him to answer one question and one question only: What have you got to hide that is causing you to run from pillar to post trying to prevent a Buhari Presidency. How can a president plan to hand over the reign of Nigeria to an unelected Mr Atiku. Atiku ![]() |
There's no chance of that happening since the PDP senators are in majority. Mr Mark is a major hurdle to the progress of this country. I just dont know how the Nigerian people can be freed from this PDP entrapment. |
This news makes me sick to the stomach. First Queen Dieziani spends our N10 billion on private jets in 1 year, and says she owes us, the people, no explanation. Now this President says this man Obanikoro must be a Minister, the rest of us can go to blazes. Honestly, I just don't know. |
cousin had told me PDP would clear our area!
