Forcing INEC to postpone the election is such a terrible thing for Mr Jonathan/PDP to do. It damages his Presidency and ruins his legacy. Like people remember June 12, people will remember a President who, facing imminent defeat, forced the postponement of an election. It is for people to decide who they want as their President. Saying you will never hand over power to a particular candidate, and in the process use every form of underhand action possible to deny millions of people their aspiration to choose a particular man as their leader is too bad. Any victory by this President following postponement will be nothing but a pyrrhic victory. A false victory. A manipulated victory. A shallow, meaningless victory. |

AmucheJane:Not if what he said is true. We just have to wait for him to name names. That'll happen after the elections. |
Please send this your idea to PDP HQ in Abuja asap. They are currently test-running several dubious schemes ahead of Feb 14th. |
Hold your breadth...he will name them after the elections. I assume he does not want to 'heat up the polity' at this point. |
First, about 50 jobless people sent to 'protest' at INEC office Then N6 billion to corrupt pastors. Now, PDP has bought a bunch of largely irrelevant small parties. N21 billion can buy you a lot of things. Well done PDP. |
gratiaeo:Haba, Bros. Na wa o. Just because I expressed an opinion on a notorious reckless spender of public funds. Whether GEJ or Buhari becomes the next President, life continues. This your level of venom is shocking and a little barbaric o. |
The man is just trying to play safe with both candidates...just in case. |
ellechrystal:It is true that many of the politicians in APC, including most PDP decampees have questionable pedigree. But where are you going to find 100% 'clean' people in Nigeria. Not even amongst pastors. That's the reality. Most people's focus in APC is Buhari, and in him I believe a degree of change is achievable, at least on the corruption front. |
'Another PDP heavyweight dumps party...' This is a statement of fact. I was just reporting news. I was not excited by it at all. |
Trailblazer1:Deziani never denied the N10 Billion story. And when the House asked her to come and clear the air, did she honour the invitation? Who is she to stand up elected representatives? Whether House members are corrupt or not is irrelevant. The institution of 'legislature' is a representation of us the people. She effectively put 2 fingers up to us by arrogantly failing to honour the invitation. |
Trailblazer1:Celebrating Ms Etteh decamping to APC? Where did you see that in anything I wrote? I only commented on how the drip drip negative news of decampment by various PDP elements might influence public perception. What are you are on about? |
I didn't say Ms Etteh decamping to APC was good or bad. I only commented on how the drip drip negative news of decampment by various PDP elements might influence public perception. Am not sure what you are on about. |
I doubt her defection adds much in terms of real votes to the APC. However, when negative PDP news like this is splashed across morning newspapers, they help to consolidate in people's mind the feeling that the PDP is a sinking ship. Also, many undecided voters may take a cue from the 'appearance' of inevitability of a Buhari victory to make up their minds and vote Buhari. |
Another PDP heavyweight dumps party for APC. http://www.punchng.com/news/ex-reps-speaker-etteh-dumps-pdp-for-apc/ I am waiting eagerly for Feb 14th! All I want is for Deziani to be arrested, put in the back of a rickety Police Toyota pick - up and photographed weeping profusely. My focus is no longer on GEJ leaving. For me, it's all about this arrogant woman and the N10 Billion she spent on private jets in one year, and then refusing to honour the invitation of the House of Rep. to explain her reckless spending. The thought of that woman makes me so furious. |
Abike - what a beautiful Naija name. Most people today will not name their child Abike. Instead, it's 'Glory,' 'Promise,' 'Peace' etc. I for vex if my papa name me Promise or any of the other 'modern' names we hear today. |
TRUTHTELA:Been on Nairaland for almost 2 years and never called out anyone before, but I must say, you are A BIG FOOL. Leaving aside the rest of your laughable diatribe, according to you: - Mrs Iweala has the best resume in Nigeria - She is the most upright person in Nigeria - She is better connected than anyone else in the country. You are a bigot. A bitter man. An Igbo tribalist. |

Ojugunrege:So there are no Hausa, Ibibio, Igbirra, Igbo baby mamas. This has nothing to do with tribe. That's a fact. |
The only excuse I can have for Soludo is that most Central Bank Governors across the globe during that era failed to see the problems that were accumulating. But, he was responsible for Nigeria, so must carry the can for what happened here. As Mrs Iweala said we are still paying for the excesses of that era and will continue to do so for at least another decade. |
If you know anything about economics, you will know Sanusi saved our economy. He had to do the dirty job and clean up after Soludo, and took the tough (unpopular) decisions that were needed. Ofcourse he had his own failings too, but nothing like Soludo's. Mrs Iweala too is just another theorist who has underperformed. |
Na wa o These are terrible photos for a wife to see. She must be devastated. The fact they are so obviously happy together makes it even worse for wifey. The irresponsible man probably craves a polygamous arrangement, but the wife didn't got the memo. |
I dont understand this totally unnecessary power play by Amaechi Campaign director of a party in ascendancy and yet you @re causing unnecessary distraction to your party's campaign Why o why? Let the man use the stadium and go. |
What I don't understand is why would Amaechi stop an opposition party from using a publicly owned asset. This is the sort of behaviour I would associate with a PDP Governor. APC governors should hold themselves to a higher standard. Amaechi should back off. |
englishmart:All well and good if you dont know them. But know that in the SW (where the actors support for Buhari is aimed at), people like Odun Adekola and Femi Bello are far better known than Omotola or Genevieve. SW does not start and end in Lekki, Ikeja GRA etc Outside of the 'elite' areas or let's just say outside of Lagos, Yoruba films are more popular than English films, hence some of the actors have better name recognition. If you go to Ibadan, Abeokuta, Akure etc, how many people under the age of 30 has heard of Omotola, Genevieve etc. But ask about Sanyeri , Odun Adekola, then majority across all ages will immediately know what you're on about. |
Industrial development - for where? Leaving that aside, this election is about unprecedented corruption, insecurity, and general failure of leadership. These are grave charges against Mr Jonathan, and most Nigerians have passed judgement - they want HIM OUT! End off. |
INEC! Give us 14 February. NOTHING else |
CSTR:Her family is in the US - so what? US government will make it their job to protect an absconder wanted in Nigeria? Do you understand international law at all? Allison is connected To who? Saudi Arabia, the most powerful country in OPEC has shown that she does not give a fig about Nigeria. A country that does not even allow women to drive cars will provide cover for a Nigerian 'infidel' woman? And here is the list of the mostly kleptocratic countries that make up OPEC? Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela,Qatar, Indonesia, Libya , the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Nigeria, Ecuador, Gabon and Angola. Which of these countries will make it their duty to provide asylum for a Nigerian fugitive? (if she becomes one). Libya? Iran? You clearly dont understand (no offence intended) |
From 'National' Theatre to Supermarket. This is so bad PDP. This is the same National Theatre that Lagos State government has been begging the Federal govt to hand over to it so it can revive it as a veritable art centre for all Nigerians. But in true PDP way, they have decided to sell it to be converted to a supermarket. People, if you want change, go and collect your PVC and please vote PDP out. Enough is enough! |
CSTR:I believe Buhari will probe, but selectively. That's my belief. You feel otherwise. That's fine too. As for Mrs Madueke, so becos she is OPEC President, she is above the law in Nigeria? Being an OPEC President is a rotational non-important role. The important role in OPEC is the Secretary General. The President is just ceremonial. Dominique Strauss-Kahn was World Bank President when he was forced to quit to answer rape allegations. Elected Presidents of countries have been removed from office and sent to jail. OPEC does not care about Mrs Madueke. Her Presidency of OPEC is so important that Saudi Arabia just a few days back was reported to have declined Nigeria-bound plane access to its airspace? Does OPEC feed Nigeria? If Buhari gets in she will be investigated and if necessary charged, and nothing will happen. OPEC will not a night's sleep over the woman. |
...upon all your plenty children....mtshew
, Odun Adekola, then majority across all ages will immediately know what you're on about.
