Nonybb: you wicked o. As for the 45yr old, na by force to marry ![]() |
I've looked at that Amaechi handshake picture over and over again...each time it looks even more terrible. Look at Mr Tinubu's handshake with PMB, it's simply man to man, leader to leader. Beside PMB, Tinubu looks like a man who needs nothing from Buhari. Amaechi looks like a desperado needing favour ![]() As APC supporter, I feel PMB needs to offer Amaechi the protection he needs, so he can move on. |
doctokwus:you almost made me choke on my cake... ![]() The man is a low life back stabber. And an incompetent traitor. |
The country is broken along sectional lines now. In the lead up to Senate presidency and Hof Rep Speakership elections, APC spokesman Lai Mohammed and party Chairman, Mr Oyegun said party position must prevail in the Senate and House of Rep. A few days after party rebels Saraki & Dogara won their elections, Lai Mohammed's northern deputy - issued a statement which said the party leadership were trying to impose candidates and basically rubbished his party chairman. Now, same pattern in the PDP. PDP lead spokesperson, and Igbo man, made a statement on behalf of his party, his northern deputy, comes out to say he's talking rubbish. Buhari, after several secret meetings with Atiku and knowing that 2 northerners will become Senate president and HofRep Speakers respectively, came out and pretentiously said he would not interfere in national assembly affairs. (As to be expected many naive Southern youths praised his decision not know their is a bigger plan). Of course if he had waded in from the beginning, he would have had no choice but to be on the side of his party, meaning a Southerner, Gbajabiamila, would have become Hof Rep Speaker. Now that his and Atiku's northern agenda has been mostly successfully implemented and with only the house leadership positions threatening to go overboard, he is apparently now going to 'interfere.' Now, many people, who previously and ignorantly bought into the northern plot without thinking, are suddenly raising eyebrows about the one-sided and north-leaning appointments made by this president, and crying foul. I have not been that interested in who is appointed or not, so I don't necessarily have a view on this. But one thing is certain, Southern youths from a particular part of the South who were happy the North occupied both senior positions in the Senate and HofRep, just to spite the SW, now have their comeuppance. Their PDP man has now been given a dirty public slap by his northern junior/master. And Metuh cannot do jack to this Hausa man. |
HzRF:Kid, learn to make your point without insults. |
But Vanguard (PDP newspaper) told us yesterday that Representatives from the NW had turned their backs against supporting GBAJABIAMILA and others nominated by the party. Yet, on various TV channels, and going by this statement from the Rep member from Katsina (a very conservative Northern State), and even on today's NTA You tube video, representatives from the North West and many parts of the North have been the most vocal opponent of Saraki and Dogara. This is going to be a long fight, with no sign that either side will back down. |
donphilopus:Atiku cannot be masterminding all these disruptions, and Saraki following through with the plan so confidently unless Buhari is in on it. This is the same Atiku that has been reported to be having clandestine meetings with Buhari. Something is fishy somewhere. |
tafrica:You people are just roping Tinubu's name into everything to serve your own interest. According to you, APC sent the letter to Saraki without consulting him. Was Saraki not at the 'peace meeting' with all the other APC senators at Oyegun's Abuja house on Tuesday? The papers all reported that Saraki orally refused to countenance any involvement by the party. What more consultation do you need to have with a guy who says he wants nothing to do with you. This letter is Oyegun simply ensuring the party's position is put by a way of a letter so you people will not twist things again, and say you never knew of the party's position. And according to you: Who installed Ambode, as against Fashola's choice? So, it would have been fine with you if Fashola installed his own candidate, and that would not have made him a Godfather, but if Tinubu, whom you hate so much does the same thing, he is an evil Godfather. Not everyone on nairaland is a naive teenager. You need to do better as a paid propaganda. |
This is terrible and undermines the principle of independence of the judiciary. Lawyers can do this if they wish, but not judges. Why would judges line up to kow tow to a Governor like market people. And look at a supposed Judge standing up to address a member of the Executive. How can you maintain independence of the judiciary if you are seen to be subservient to politicians/the Executive. Have these people ever seen New York State judges lining up to felicitate with the State Governor to 'rejoice' with him on winning an election. Or London Judges do the same with Cameron on being elected. Judges must keep sufficient distance from the rest of society, particularly politicians. A simple phone call from the State Chief Judge to Mr Ambode to pass her best wishes on behalf of the State judiciary would have been sufficient, though still not necessary. |
OkutaNla:So, PDP party will come up with the names of their Minority leaders in the Senate and House of Rep, but Saraki and Dogara who are both (?) PDP defectors say they will fight till death to prevent their party, APC, from having ANYTHING to do with selecting Majority leaders in either House. Selfish hypocrites. |
I still cant get my head around how Saraki would plot with PDP to vote him as Senate president while his party colleagues are attending a party meeting. It is a monumental betrayal of everyone, including we the ordinary people who worked in our little ways in our various localities to drum support for APC. I have not recovered from the treachery of this man ![]() Why could he not wait for his colleagues? He could still have won the vote anyway. It's the worst case of selfishness. And now, he and Dogara are raising arms against the party for the other positions in both Houses. |
Shine1177:They make far more! The average Nigerian Senator makes more that N150 million per year. Those who are Chairmen or members of some powerful committees can make twice that amount from their usual dirty dealings. |
Saraki has been a Senator for 4 years, yet he claimed to have called the RMFAC into his office in order to confirm how much each Senator receives as clothing allowance. So the he does not know the allowance he has been pocketing all these years Barau! They just want to cover up things so that the public outrage will die down. The big question is why are we paying N150 billion to feed and cloth 450 senators and reps when the average Nigerian lives on less than $5 per day. Unbelievable country. |
Bayswater:APC has not stopped Dogara from contesting. He is free to contest and he has said he would tomorrow. |
OKDnigeria:It must be incredible to be so powerful. I wonder if Mr Tinubu finds the time to sleep at night. He's fixing things in Lagos, Senate & House of Rep in Abuja, and no doubt keeping a watchful eye on Mr Buhari's appointments ![]() |
MissNairaland1:Ooops, so I am not alone. There is a waterlogged part of my garden where some tall grass grow. It's probably no more than 25 metres from my window, I've not been near that part in 5 yrs. If my brother no dey house, I dey fear say one big crocodile go just come out Probably the effect of watching too much NatGeo Wild. |
Beautiful! Unfortunately, not likely to visit these places. I have this great fear of isolated rivers and forests. I will always fear there is a hungry wild animal lurking in the surrounding bushes ![]() |
tunjion:The press, usually Vanguard, has been printing all sort of purely speculative stories about this man, ie., 1. APC chairman, Oyegun revolts against Tinubu, yet we saw both men smiling last when they visited Ambode in his office 2. Tinubu blocks Fashola's Ministerial appointment, now they tell us he is supporting him for one of the top positions 3. Kayode Fayemi falls out with Tinubu, yet we know Fayemi is one of Tinubu's most loyal supporters. We saw them watch Buhari's Chatham House speech together alone in a room 4. North is out to cut Tinubu to size, yet Saraki and Dogara are crying of marginalisation in the hands of Tinubu not the other way round 5. Buhari no longer listens to Tinubu, yet when Buhari could not meet the President of Guinea, it was Tinubu who received him. It's all nonsense. Tomorrow is another defining moment in his political life. Whatever happens in the Senate, if he can deliver the House of Rep to Gbajabiamila and save us from total Northern domination, he will have achieved a rare feat as the most accomplished political influencer and networker of our time. |
With Saraki and his gang, led by Dino Melaye leading the Senate, Nigeria will continue to be a joke country. Dino Melaye of all people. If Saraki wins, he will be better decamping to PDP. The man has zero party discipline. It's all about him. |
You have Saraki's group being led by Dino Melaye of all people. And now the Dogara's group shouting like motor park touts. Why not behave like adults - put your self up for election tomorrow and if you can get enough PDP house members to support you, then you win. With Saraki and his loutish sidekick Melaye controlling the senate, we can forget about any reform/change agenda for the country. |
If Tinubu pushes a candidate, it's imposition. If an Emir pushes a candidate who will reinforce the Northern Oligarchy's domination of Nigeria's agenda , it's ok. Saraki's family has over several decades been in to top 0.1% cabal that has messed up this country. This guy will not support any meaningful reform that comes to the Senate. A Turkey never votes for Christmas. |
So, in 2015 alone, we need 950 billion naira just to pay the interest on PDP/Joanthan's loans. We also need to borrow in order to pay back this interest. When are we ever going to pay back the actual loan? Absolutely shocking !! |
Mynd44:Using an inbuilt systemic majority in both houses to impose your will on the rest of your countrymen. That's not merit. It is insidious, selfish and dark stance that will only end in ignominy. Warn your representatives. They make concessions or their will be consequences in 4 yrs time ![]() Good afternoon. |
Mynd44:I am an APC supporter, and I am furious that Northerners are even contemplating this 'land grab' that has never happened in the history of Nigeria. The only reason you want this simply left to the representatives to decide is because, the North with its inbuilt majority will win any vote. And once this terrible selfish precedence is set, it will be repeated in future years. Mr Uduagan, though PDP, is a Nigeria, and is perfectly entitled to comment on an issue that threatens that puts historical balance in jeopardy. APC does not define who we are as Nigerians. |
cutelover19:So, because the North is 'vast,' it should use its majority in both houses to out muzzle the other regions. Whatever happened to maintaining a degree of political balance in a country that suffers perennial instability. If Jonathan had a SE Senate president and a SW HoR speaker, you would have had no problem with it abi ![]() Rubbish. We know the mayhem and destruction you people would have brought to your streets. |
omenka:You're quick to call others eediots, but you've given us plenty of reasons to call you a lying idiot eediot. Please give us an example in the history of Nigeria where the President, Senate President and House of Rep speaker all came from one region (North or South) The scenario you mischievously listed above is clearly different from what the North is planning now, as Jonathan (a Southerner) is the President and the ultimate power in that equation. But to have Buhari as President and Northerners in the other positions is totally unacceptable. If that situation comes to pass, it will clearly confirm that Buhari is a tribalist and that Northern domination was part of his plan all along. The day this situation is confirmed, my support for APC and Buhari ends. |
1. Mr Umana's party, the labour party, lost woefully in the election. 2. Their party leader resigned due to the loss. 3. Mr Umana inidicated he would context with others to become the new party leader, but withdrew from contesting 4. Whoever emerges as the new opposition leader in a few week's time will select who comes to the opposition front bench 5. Umana hopes to be one of those the new opposition leader will select How does this suddenly translate to him targeting British Foreign Minister position. Its like suggesting that someone from APGA or Labour party will become APC's choice as Nigeria's Foreign Minister. Mr Umana is as far from being the UK's next Foreign Minister as you and I are from being Nigeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs. |
It seems Mr & Mrs Jadesimi quietly built their business over a number of years to become the largest base for rig and vessel repair in West Africa. The business is heading to become a $1 billion company. Why will the Federal govt, through tribal jealousy, want to truncate the work of a quiet and dignified Nigerian couple? As someone said above me, if the work was being done in South Korea, China, or Japan we wouldn't mind. But Lagos? Na. Will this company not employ qualified Nigerians irrespective of their tribal background? It is not the govt's role to terrorise a successful business becos of tribal considerations. ND business men should use this couple as an example of what is possible and develop similar businesses in the Niger Delta. |
pedel:How about we start with death penalty for politicians who handed pipeline protection responsibilities to OPC and the other thugs. ...and to those who stole our $20billion. |
victorels:If a govt official turns up at your residence, hands you a one paragraph note from the federal govt ordering you to eat the dog poo in front of your house, you'll eat it up without question becos 'every instruction from government is an order that must be obeyed.' You get brain o. |
Eshinwaju:The whole thing just defies logic. A senior Northern politician says publicly that giving the Senate Presidency and HoR speakership to 2 northern regions which have not always voted in unison with the feudal core north will help the entire north to unite for long term domination of the political space, and we have SE and SS representatives lining up to endorse this position? O ma se o |
"Various initiatives have been put in place in order to see that northerners from wherever they are, from the 19 states, become one as far as voting is concerned. We are not saying 100 percent of northerners should be in one political party but that northerners should have one voice, they should decide and dictate the politics of Nigeria; like it has been before independence and even during the First Republic because of the numerical strength of the North. But of recent we became divided so we became so vulnerable. But God in His infinite wisdom and mercy used the goodwill of General Muhammadu Buhari and we have gotten the kind of unity that we have been yearning for for so long. We have realised this dream now. So now that we have achieved the unity we long for because of Buhari’s goodwill, it is only fair that we now make some efforts to consolidate these gains because General Buhari will not be the president for ever. So that after him, we have consolidated on this goodwill and we will be able to grow this unity, political cooperation, electoral cooperation from strength to strength so that the North will as much as possible dictate the political landscape of the country and what happens in Nigeria as it used to do." _____________ Nairaland SS and SE ill-informed youths jubilating and wanting the north to occupy both Senate Presidency and HoR speakership, can you see your life now. You will rather have the North have the Presidency, Senate Presidency, House of Rep speakership, Chief Justice of the Federation (basically 4 of the top 5 positions in this country), just so you can spite the SW So, the well-planned complete and total northern domination that will affect your lives negatively does not bother you? ![]() You note in his long rant, this northern man didn't show any consideration for the SE or SS, yet PDP representatives from this 2 regions are lining up to vote for northern domination now which will pave the way for long term 'northern unity' and thus long term northern domination. Exactly what this man say they have planned all along up north. So, who is the slave now. The SW that wants to prevent this northern domination at all cost or SE and SS representatives that are lining up behind their northern PDP masters to the detriment of their regions' long term well being ![]() |
