waternogeteneny:So this is the type of reaction you have for someone asking for our missing $20 Billion to be probed? So, what will happen if Mrs Madueke is arrested?? You'll personally declare a war on Nigeria? Do you PDP narcissists receive part of the loot in your personal bank accounts or what. I just find it really difficult to understand what planet someone like you lives on. |
Only a politically naive will think this statement by Pa Oyegun was a mistake. This is a calculated statement aimed at some powerful cabals, particularly in the north who are very fearful of a Buhari Presidency. My Oyegun must have known that this would be a controversial statement given Buhari's strong anti - corruption commitment, but probably concluded that the benefit in sending a coded message to powerful vested interests outweight the risk of accusation of soft - pedalling on corruption. Truth is, it is not easy become a Nigerian President if you have very powerful vested interests against you. However, once Buhari becomes the President, the balance of power changes and he will deal with any number of them that insist on looting the country. That is what a weak Mr Jonathan has been unable to do. |
Any sincere person will know that wholesale probe of the likes of Obasanjo, IBB, and Mr Jonathan is simply impracticable. It will take so much time, resources and efforts that the entire Buhari Presidency will be totally grounded and will have no time to attend to other important stuff. There will however be selective probes - things like the stolen $20 billion, and Alison Madueke's N10 billion per year private jet junket will be probed. I personally cant wait to see Mrs Madueke beg for mercy as she is whisked into the back of a rickety Nigerian Police Force pick-up. She go sabi se Nigerians are vengeful. |
ojingbe:I agree Dr Omotosho's connection to this incident is purely speculation at this point, but there is a smouldering smoking gun that suggests he and the other alleged currupt officers must be investigated. Oran buruku iyi re o. |
Will the Nigerian Police be able to get to the bottom of this? No DNA capability Poor investigative skills Unless the culprits make a voluntary confession or are apprehended one way or the other, this case may not go anywhere. All the evidence so far is circumstantial, though the smoking gun here seem to point to murder. |
Fake PDP report. Tinubu and Amaechi operate at different levels within APC. Tinubu and Buhari are at the top. Others, including Amaechi are one step below. The idea that Amaechi can and will compete with Tinubu within APC is a PDP dream that will not come true, at least for a while yet. Also why would there be a clash if Tinubu nominates 2 members of a committee and Amaechi also suggest names? Unlike PDP, APC is a happy family where people make concessions when necessary and move on. |
According to this report, the APC's choice of campaign committee members has forced PDP to cancel its initial list and reconstitute their own committee. See confusion in PDP land ![]() Weren't these the same PDP felons that told us just a few years ago that they were so powerful, they would rule Nigeria for at least 60yrs? Thank God for APC! |
Redoil:1. There are a number of countries in Africa with a higher standard of living than Nigeria. India has a bigger economy but Austria has a much higher standard of living. That Nigeria has a large economy does not mean Nigerians live better than others. 2. Where I come from has no relevance to my assessment of the poor leadership skills of the President. As a Nigerian, I want better leadership for the benefit of all, irrespective of where they come from. |
berem:Same to you sis. Obiagelli's thread is wonderful. You are one of the leaders. Keep up the good work. |
Also, you said - Let us not allow tribal and religious sentiments to blind us... Yet, you want people from the Southern part of the country to vote for the President because he is a Southerner. Your logic is puzzling bro |
You haven't got the message? Mr Jonathan is incompetent and surrounds himself with felons. |
Ngwakwe:This man, na wa for you o. When you are on the ropes and no one is buying into your mumbo jumbo, you come up with your usual 'sorry, I am out' of the thread. You fled the thread more than 2hrs ago, but just a few minutes ago, I saw you peeping into the thread! Come back into the thread man and show some backbone for once. It's creepy seeing an old man standing behind the curtain and peeping ![]() |
Come Feb, voters will have a clear choice to make between a gang of felonious characters who spent the lead-up to Christmas donating N21 billion to themselves and and a Vice Presidential candidate who got on a bus to hear from long suffering ordinary people. The choice is simple. PDP must be vanquished. |
All my married friends are upright and seem to be so devoted to their families/husbands, I can't readily imagine them cheating on their husband. Even looking beyond just my close friends, I can't immediately think of any married woman I know that I would think of as a potential adulterer. Am I just naive? I don't believe this 'research.' |
These PDP people think we are fools. The concept of inland waterway in Nigeria is simply natural streams and small rivers used mostly by hard working peasant farmers and small-time fishermen. Traffic on these things are on average probably no more than 20 or 30 villagers per day. Now PDP is telling us, Mr Okonkwo, from will leave Abuja city life and 'invest' millions in a 'waterway' in a village in Emure, Ekiti State, put a toll on a stream that villagers have used for free for generations, and start collecting N250 per boat? PDP opposes toll payment in rich Lekki, but now wants to hit long suffering peasant farmers and village people with tolls? PDP will not stop piling more and more problems on ordinary hard working Nigerians who simply want to be left alone to get on with their lives. |
A government in its final dying days running helter skelter like an infested fowl announcing fake projects. Keep announcing, we shall keep denouncing. |
A government in its final days running helter skelter like an infested fowl announcing fake projects. Keep announcing PDP, we shall keep denouncing. |
PDP, a party in government that has zero respect for itself. |
O ma se o, PDP, a party in government that has zero respect for itself. |
Adminisher:Your statement is laughable. 1. Lagos, most important state in Nigeria - Tinubu got his choice in place 2. National Chairman APC - Tinubu got his choice in place 3. Deputy National Chairman South - Tinubu got his choice in place 4. Vice Presidential candidate APC - Tinubu got his man in place There is no evidence Amaechi has been able to influence the appointment of an ordinary office secretary in APC. Within APC, currently, Tinubu is the most influential. From what we have seen to date, there is no single evidence that Amaechi has much influence within APC. Tinubu always seem to have the solid backing of SW APC governors. Can you name one governor anywhere in Nigeria over whom Amaechi has solid influence. Buhari will compensate Amaechi with a solid Ministerial portfolio (hopefully Petroleum) for his financial backing. That's all. |
I doubt Amaechi will have wanted to be VP anyway. Being a VP is being relegated to a near-comatose political existence where you are largely irrelevant and only wheeled out to cut ribbons now and again. This will suit this Professor who is not a politician anyway. A young, aspirational politician like Amaechi will be better off as Minister of an important portfolio like Petroleum or External Affairs. He can then launch a Presidential bid come 2019 - there's a good chance Buhari will only do one term. |
rhymz:We shouldn't trust a Yoruba man, but we should trust an Igbo man Very funny. |
Amaechi live on the Oprah Winfrey Show APC used and dumped me. Now this is really funny.Never would have thought I could find anything from you PDP people funny. There you go. |
Not now. When we were outnumbered & out gunned initially (few months back), you were one of the few who remained in the line of fire and kept going, fighting the APC corner and inspiring the rest of us. How can you quit after all that, and just as we are entering the final rounds of this once in a lifetime opportunity. Don't do it. Not now. Why not take a little time off but return to active posting in the new year. You are a battle - hardened hero here. DON'T QUIT NOW...just a few weeks more to go. |
Please tell him, we don't care any more. |
Heroesglobal:So, we should keep quiet because: 1. There's always been corruption in the oil sector 2. The woman is from the Niger Delta. So what happens when we have a President from another region? His people will also reference Deziani's corrupt ways to justify his own corruption. This is a woman who spent N10 billion of our money on private jets in just 2 yrs. And you want us to keep mum and watch. As to your other claim that GEJ has been a strong performer in all but the security area, I think majority of Nigerians will laugh at that. Do you know Nigeria has earned more revenue from oil under this President than under any President / Leader in our history. The question is: where is the effect of all that revenue?? |
This shameless woman who masterminded the theft of our $10.8 billion (at least) now wants us to go on the streets with placards celebrating her appointment as President of a now irrelevant and ineffectual cabal of just 12 or so countries. If there are only 12 members of a club, and the position of President is largely rotational and ceremonial, then every member that is interested will eventually become a President! Also nobody ever hears or knows about the President of Opec. The only position in OPEC that is relevant is the Secretary General. |
Atiku as APC Presidential candidate ke? Which kind thing be that. If these delegates choose him, that's it with me and APC. |
Thank you. Much respect. |
WhiteTechnology:I am sorry bros, this is no longer a hard and fast rule. Modern English writing perfectly permits the use of 'its' in this scenario. I read UK Guardian, New York Times, and the Economist routinely. The Economist (and most Nigerian newspapers) is the only one of the 3 that tends to adhere to your position. It's a bit archaic and tedious to always have to use 'her' when referring to a country. Just like we were told in secondary school that there was no plural of 'ship,' however, today, you find many respectable publications referring to 'ships.' Language evolves. |
Unless you have very deep pockets, its a good time to start cutting down on discretionary expenditure and start saving for the rainy day (assuming further devaluation does not eat up the savings!). Just to add to the bad news, Naira again fell to over $182 to a dollar today from its Friday closing of just over 179. Things are not looking good. I suspect PDP are just praying that the full storm will not arrive before the elections. Infact, whoever wins the election will find things really tough to deliver on their promises, unless there is a dramatic reversal of economic fortune. |
