This morning I went to a POS attendant to make a withdrawal and in the process she narrated to me how she was duped of N20,000. According to her, a young man ( probably early 20s or less) approached her to make a withdrawal of N20,000. After inserting his ATM card into the POS machine, she returned the machine for him to insert his PIN. The transaction was successful with an inscription "withdrawal approved" written on the POS screen. At this point, there was nothing suspicious about the transaction. She counted the money and gave the young man. How did she find out? Well, when the young man left, another customer came to make a withdrawal using First Bank ATM, she discovered that there was no network. If that's the case, according to her, how then did the first person succed (the first person equally came with First bank ATM) when there's no network at all. The above scenario prompted her to check her transaction history. Unfortunately, there was no trace of initial transaction (N20,000). Instead what she saw on the history was a message that the first person has exceeded his limit. Which means the transaction wasn't actually successful but the young man manipulated the machine to look so. At this point, the young man has gone to God knows where. May be to try his luck on another ignorant attendant. According to woman, she has never had this kind of experience. There's no trace of withdrawal but the transaction was successful from the indication on the POS screen. The guy even bought boxers worth N3000 from the attendant using the same money. Here comes my question? How was he able to maneuver or manipulate the POS machine for the " withdrawal approved" message to come up? Mehn, one really need to be careful especially in this difficult moment. |

They should use that period to acquire skills. Some of them who got admission at that level are not emotionally, mentally and psychologically ready for such academic journey. At the age of 16, some of them don't even know it about life. Nigerian tertiary institutions, being a jungle on its own, make it difficult for them to settle. Again, it will help to curtail the population of students that get enrolled into the tertiary institutions. The only sector that may benefit from this policy, if unchecked, is the private university. Just like in private secondary schools, some of them, in attempt to recoup their investments, may look for a way to bypass this policy. |
The Federal Government has ordered that admission to tertiary institutions should not be given to candidates less than 18 years. The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman gave the directive on Monday during a monitoring exercise of the ongoing 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME in Bwari, Federal Capital Territory. He decried the activities of some parent, who were pressuring their underage students to get admissions into tertiary institutions, The minister said that the 18-year benchmark is in line with the 6-3-3-4 system of education. “The minimum age of entry into the University is 18, but we have seen students who are 15, 16 years going in for the entrance examination. “Parents should be encouraged not to push their wards too much. Mostly, it is the pressure of parents that is causing this. Mostly, it is the pressure of parents that is causing this. “We are going to look at this development because the candidates are too young to understand what the whole university education is all about. “This is the period when children migrate from controlled to uncontrolled environments; when they are in charge of their own affairs. “But, if they are too young, they won’t be able to manage properly. I think that is part of what we are seeing in the Universities today,” he said. On skill acquisition for those who will not be able to gain admissions into tertiary institutions, Mamman said the ministry is taking skills to pupils from primary school. “ In overall, it is 20 per cent that can be admitted into the University, Polytechnic and Colleges of Education system. “So, where will the 80 per cent go to? That is why the issue of skills acquisition is very important. "Any student who is unable to proceed to tertiary institutions should be able to have a meaningful life after primary and secondary school’s education and the only solution to this is skill acquisition,” he said. Corroborating the minister’s position on the benchmark of 18 years for admission to tertiary institutions, the JAMB spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin said 18 years is in line with the 6-3-3-4 education system. The Minister of State for Education, Dr Yusuf Sununu who was in the monitoring team applauded the conduct of the 2024 UTME, particularly, the introduction of online examinations as a way of checking malpractices. He said the Computer Based Test (CBT) had reduced examination malpractices to the barest minimum. Sununu commended the Board for setting a simple but high standard for the examination. https://dailypost.ng/2024/04/22/dont-give-admission-to-candidates-less-than-18-years-fg-warns-tertiary-institutions/

Supported! Just imagine state police in the hands of people like Yahaya Bello. |
yad2eidi:He has his supporters (fans), manager to do that for him/her. |
Goddyrichie:This is quite shameful. Does it mean that there's no local government chairmen, house rep members and a senator representing that zone? So, why do guys keep reelecting them, if they are not accountable and responsible politically to the people? |
ruffhandu:That's what they taught us in school especially if the person happens to be an eye witness, a minor etc. Again, like said earlier, there's a possibility the accused may be exonerated. So, in other to avoid the stigma that follows such report, their faces are usually blurred or covered. Mind you in the age social media anybody can record and upload without considering the implications. |
dhealthyplace:I did. Even with the confession, he's yet to be convicted. |
Idris Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky has donated chairs to Kirikiri prison.
|
ruffhandu:It is unprofessional in journalism to display the face of someone yet to be convicted especially if it's crime related. What if the person is found innocent, what will now happen to the picture displayed on the media? |
The guy don already implicate himself for public. Journalist: "Why are you here?" Culprit: "I committed murder" Mehn, I feel for this guy even though he's not innocent. He may end up languishing in prison for life. SAY NO TO CULTISM. |
rtdCivilservant:May be he's referring to East Germany before the unification with West Germany. |

In China this man would've been sentenced to death. I read somewhere that for 7years workers weren't paid their salaries. Tufiakwa. |
Felabrity:There's no doubt about that. But you really need to read about their prowess in technology for you to understand how intelligent and powerful Israel is. A country of 9-10m people but feared by many. They are good example of the statement "work smart, not hard". Self-sufficient in food production, even though they live in a dry land. How I wish Nigeria can study and adopt some of these attributes. Despite the massive number of fertile lands God has blessed us with, yet we are still battling with hunger. |
A Nigerian woman, Tanko Lami, has expressed shock after receiving a slip containing breakdown of fees for pre-kindergarten pupils. “Development Levy 300k as in how? You will give my child teeth and brain cells because I don't understand. 55k books for a pre-Kindergarten. This pikin no even reach the kindergarten finish sef, and books of 55k at that stage,” she wrote in a Facebook post on Friday, April 19. Me the mama, how many books I don read all my life? And that uniform. When my child is not a model… the same uniform that he will pour food on top? Abi ? Nna eeh”

Let's hope it will translate to reduction of prices of imported goods. |
Just few drones and everyone just dey para. And it was nuclear facility, Isfahan. Israel just wanted to let Iran know that they not impenetrable. According to De Bretton Gordon, "Iran fires 300 plus miles at Israel, they virtually all get shot down. Israel fires one, perhaps two missiles, at an Iranian target - which appears to have got through and caused damage." |
Glo's data last longer but poor network. But if you're lucky to reside where Glo network is fast and stable, you'll enjoy it more than any other network. |
The rest of his rugged life will be spent in the prison. So, what's the gain? The education, money, time etc all in vain. SAY NO TO CULTISM |
Shadow war now in the open. |
Military will definitely be involved this time around. A bad example of not too young to run. |
thesicilian:He is simply saying you can't compare the love of a father to that of stranger. No doubt, the money is there. But if the children need an assistance, it's easier to approach your father than a stranger. I'm talking from experience. Any time I'm stranded, I can comfortably call my dad for help. You can't compare such when dealing with a stranger. Let's not forget this is something that's habitual. It's not a one-time thing. Nevertheless, may God bless e-money. Praying and hoping that they uphold their promises. |
