Hopechi44: Stutern, a Lagos-based online platform has published the salary distribution of employed graduates in Nigeria.
Stutern carries out studies on employment in Nigeria and Nigerian universities and this year, they created something called the Nigerian Graduate report.
According to the report released, statistics were obtained between 2010-2016.
Stutern embarked on a study into the salary distribution of employed graduates and below is what was found out.
1. More than 50% of Nigerians currently earn N50,000 or less on a monthly basis.
2. 1 in 4 new graduates earn less than N20,000 monthly as starting salary.
3. Over 80% of employed graduates currently earn not more than N150,000 per month.
4. Most graduates earn between N20,000 – N50,000 monthly both as starting salary and current salary.
5. Only about 1.92% earn above N150,000 monthly.
Earlier, we compiled a list of universities with the most employable graduates in Nigeria as released by Stutern.
Covenant University located in Ota, Ogun state was at the top of the list with a 90% employability rate.
Many are finding it hard to get good jobs. While some are out there still searching, others have decided to become self-employed
SOURCE: https://www.techtimes.com.ng/2018/01/this-is-how-much-most-graduates-earn-in.html?m=1 I doubt the validity of this publication. How can you say less than 2℅ of Nigerian graduates earn above 150,000 naira monthly? Are you telling me banks, FMCG companies, oil and gas companies, telecommunications companies, maritime companies and so on do not pay above 150,000 naira to their entry level graduates? |

knowledgeable: Idiot, your focus should be on why Hausa/fulani in Nigeria are deploying violence and killing of other Nigerians with impunity in matters that should have been settled in a civilized ways, be it cattle colony or otherwise.
These impunity of killings you will agree with me, is not limited to fulani headsmen issues alone, but in other aspects of Nigerian society, be it in Religious issues (bokoharam), land grabbing, corruption in billions, their backwardness, holding down other regions development, extreme nepotism in their approach to dealing with other Nigerian cultures.
Again, you are an idiot if your focus is not on restructuring and true federalism but on how other countries like Kenya have accepted cattle colonies. Hey! Why the insult? I am sure you lack manners. Do you have to behave like a tout on a faceless forum? Can't you post comments without resorting to abuse? Please, I don't have your time. So get lost on my comment. |

Cattle colony is a good idea by federal government that will boost the dairy industry in Nigeria. It is adopted in African countries such as Kenya and Uganda. And those two countries are leading in dairy farming and milk production in Africa.
The peculiarities of Nigeria politics is the reason why application of cattle colony will be difficult in Nigeria. Ethnicity in Nigeria do not simply trust the Fulanis on their ancestral lands. |

As an economist, I will advise osun state government to invest in agro processing industries and agriculture to create jobs for its citizens.
Aftermath, the state government can then tax the salaries of the workers to increase its internal generated revenue and build infrastructure in the state. This will in turn lead to economic prosperity of osun state. |

koife: I've had challenging experiences in life. I can boldly say that I'm not where I had envisaged to be at 34, yes its a number you'd expect some certain degree of stability, but mine is totally not true. Before you blame me of laziness and not being proactive, I came to back to nja after making marriage plans and decision to start a busines.... long and short is that the car hire and logistics business crashed I lost my relationship but I somehow weathered the storm and kept hustling and empowering myself with lots of certification that has to do with oil and gas. As you know this courses are capital intensive With expiry date... as I speak a few has expired. I've picked up menial jobs that is far below where I can maximally express what I'm capable of. I feel stocked.... like im on a standstill. I reluctantly picked up insurance work that stress the hell out of me after my masters back in 2016. People. I have hustled, tried my hands in everything like driving taxi, laundry etc. As I speak I have admission in The US but no sponsor. My financial situation have made me almost become a laughing stock amongst friends and worst even within my family as I had to return to putting up with my parents, yes! I'm with my parents!! I've lost countable jobs after interviews, some telling me my qualifications are too much, while some bcoz lack of God father and you know how labout market employers attach interest on age limit. Let me quickly say I'm a believing and preyerful person, but at this point I'm losing it, as I write I'm home alone ... I'm withdrawn and hardly go out. Recently I started nuring this evil though that it could actually be better if I end it to find rest away from this world but my inner person calls me to order. I Hardly concentrate, I'm bipolar and have lost uncountable number of relationships, which I won't blame the ladies involved... yes, who would want to associate with a person in my situation. chalsixtus: Someone is looking for a job you are here trying to make him feel less because he studied Bsc(Ed) Economics what is pure in the Economics? From Principles of microeconomics to comparative economic system he did them all except for the elective courses associated with social science faculty and you are still claiming pure , that pure economics just so you know is not even a professional course its more of an academic and research field with this I do not see how bsc(ed) shld feel less . At op split you CV , create two CV for yourself one shld be education (teaching) oriented include your TRCN in that one plus your IT skills , on the other CV still state your Bsc(Ed) but do not mk it education oriented don't include your trcn to it. You will get a job soon Last last most pure economists are teaching in mushroom schools I am not belittling the course of the OP. I quoted a nairalander who asked about the difference between Bsc Economics and Bsc (Ed) Economics or else I won't be on this thread. With regards to Economics, it is a fantastic business course to study in the university. According to Forbes, the top Degrees that produce highest billionaires in the world are Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Law and Computer science. With regards to OP, I will advise you to set goals for yourself. Having a university degree is not enough, you need skills and professional qualifications to get a good job in Nigeria. After graduation, some of my course mate wrote CIPM and became human resource professional, some wrote ICAN and became chartered accountant, some wrote CIS and became a chartered stockbroker, some wrote CFA and became chartered financial analyst and so on. They are all doing well in their careers. My first job was as a sales trainee at Consolidated brewery PLC in Lagos(under Heineken international) but now I own a fruit juice manufacturing factory and became an entrepreneur. Your degree in Economics education offer you versatility and flexibility. Acquire a professional certification and skills in a career of your interest and getting a job will be easier for you. Having 2.1 is not enough. |

TochiPhotos: I just remembered my first day working for mr Agbaje. Lol this is a really funny and embarrassing post lol. I started working for him as cleaner. I was 17 and just finished waec and I got a cleaning job through cleanway. A cleaning company in Lagos. They usually post their workers to banks or companies they partner with, but luckily for me I was posted to Mr Agbaje’s company. On my first day, I cleaned his office tables with water. Lol the cleaning company provided mr sheen cleaning spray and other stuff but been an inexperienced young boy, I used water instead of the cleaning materials provided and I ruined the expensive tables in his office lol. I was so sure I was going to get sacked but God had other plans. My time working there is really long story with happy endings so let me just summarize it. When I was working as a cleaner for him, I had access to the internet and one of his employees (Jumoke) lets me use her laptop. So I took advantage of that and started learning how to build websites and also photography. He bought me a laptop when he noticed how passionate I was about learning and he told me he will stop at nothing to make sure I go to back to school. I remember the joy in his face when I got admitted into Unilag a few years ago (I didn’t finish because it was not the course I wanted) While working for him, I went from Cleaner to office assistant, to a full time employee and it was while there I started doing photography. I worked for him on weekdays and did my photography on weekends. The time I spent working for him were the best moments of my life and I owe everything to him and the wonderful colleagues who became family.
This is a story for another day and I can’t wait to share it with you guys. Just put this tiny bit out there to inspire someone. I had nothing, I came to Lagos with just N300 (three hundred naira) when I was 17 to stay with my Uncle and now look at God. I am not where I want to be yet but I can’t deny the goodness of God. Are you an undergraduate or postgraduate student in the university in Russia? |

I have a friend that work in the commercial bank as a marketer for almost 2 years now and his not dead. I also have one in the microfinance bank as a marketer for over a year now and is not dead. I know that every jobs comes with their challenges too but when you are out of job for so long, bills keep on pilling, no other alternatives and someone offer you a marketing job in either commercial/microfinance banks what would you do? Take the job or leave it? Nigerian graduates don't like marketing jobs because they want office job only. They want to sit in office, gossip and play around like civil servants do. They forget that sales and marketing is the backbone of any business. |

onlyme07: You're wrong bro. You are one of those who look down on Bsc edu holders but let me tell you, they are better off because of their double honours. They have gone through the pratical and theoretical aspect of the course.
Jamb cut off depends on the schl,it's not because of the education aspect at all. Not sure you have checked the curriculum before giving your disparity.
If graduates of edu are trained teachers why do bsc holders teach without education background? Bro,try as much as possible to delete that notion that all holders of Bsc edu holders are teachers. They are trained teachers which makes them better off than single hons. holders.
Do you know 3rd class Bsc and Bsc edu holders must take PDE or PGDE before they can enrol for Masters programme.? PDE and PGDE are education programmes, you get it now? NB: I graduated with single hons What are you saying? I graduated from department of Economics at OAU in 2011. I have worked in several multinational companies before I started my business. I am telling you the difference between Pure Economics and Economics education based on reality and industry experience. You are saying trash. Do Pure Economics do teaching practice in university like Education Economics do? As at 2007, cut off mark for Pure Economics at OAU was 275 whereas Economics education was 205. What I posted earlier is the fact and I am not ready for argument. Good day. |

The difference is pure Economics is a degree under faculty of social sciences whereas education Economics is a degree under faculty of education. Graduate of Economics education undertakes teaching practice in university whereas Pure Economics graduates do not. The difference is huge. That's why cut off marks of pure economics is very higher than economics education. Graduate of Economics education are trained to become an economics teacher while graduate of pure Economics are trained for management positions in organisations. |

The loan is a three year loan and the consequences of this is that I will start my own family in debt as I am due for marriage...the most painful part is that my parents are claiming that they have finished paying me back because I live I thier house and they also give me two thousand Naira daily for my upkeep.
The worst implication is that my business cannot even start because of the sacrifice I made for my parents.
Please what do you advise as my parents threaten to arrest me if I ask them for the money again. Is it possible to secure a loan from Bank in Nigeria without the bank monitoring its utilization? Are you telling me the bank are not asking you questions on the turnover of your business? How were you able to get a loan without collateral security in Nigeria? I doubt your story. |
