I think 35,000 naira can raise a family in Nigeria. If you doubt it, kindly ask security man, company drivers, factory workers etc in Lagos how much they are paid as monthly salary. Majority of them are paid less than 30,000 naira yet they have a wife and children at home. It's not how much you earn but how you utilize it.

I also noticed the price of beverages in ShopRite are twenty percent higher than the price in our regular corner-shops in Nigeria.

The increase in their price could be as a result of high overhead costs. It is not easy to run diesel 24/7 and also pay workers's salaries.

I will like to know if the sales of ready made furniture a profitable business to embark upon in Nigeria. I have a very good furniture maker that want to partner with me in the business. He will be making the furniture at his workshop and supply me at a discount price while I will be selling the furniture at showroom in a good location.

His furniture are very good, durable and attractive. He is very good in furniture making and he is not educated but he can read and write . He believes that as I am a graduate, I can market and sell more furniture in my showroom.

Do you guys think the business idea will work? Cause I am ready to start with 500,000 naira.

Marriage should not be your top priority for now. What you should be thinking is a source of income. Seriously, 38 years is not that old for a man. There are a lot of men who are in their 40s in my estate still living with their parents and trying to sort their life issues.I am 30 years old and have my own apartment. That doesn't mean I look down on them. The challenges of everyone is different and we hang out and talk as men.

So at 38, you should not put yourself on undue pressure rather think of getting a job or acquiring a skill or handiwork to start your own business. Once you do that, you will be earning a living and have your own apartment. Trust me, ladies will always be available for marriage in as much as you are financially independent.

Years ago, I told my husband to go for his PGD and MSC but he blatantly refused with one excuse or the other, l ran to my parents, his parents and everybody I know but I was labelled a nag.
Now appointments were made and he was denied due to his result (Third class), his boss told me that personally that Third class graduates cannot be considered (it's a rule).

You need to have a deep conversation with your husband. You should ask him what are his plans and ambition in life? How he intends to achieve it? Tell him you are ready to stand by him and support his ambition in as much as you can see the drive and passion to fulfill his ambition. I am sure when you do that, he will open up to you about what he really wants in life. It is not compulsory that he must enroll for PGD/MSC if he doesn't want it. Also, your husband graduating with third class honours is not an obstacle in being successful.

Do you supply on credit to your customers (market traders) in south-south and south-east on credit? Or is it strictly cash before supply ? As far I am concerned, this is a waste of limited public funds. It could have been utilized in establishing an agro processing factories in the state and employ the youth. Edo state is the largest producer of pineapples in Nigeria yet there is no single fruit juice factory in the state in operation.

Nothing is making sense in nija again even business scramble due to debt. If ur goods are not given on credit then there is no patronage.

If you want to sell goods on credit to your customers, you will supply small quantities of goods for them to sell in their shops. For example, if your customers want you to supply them like 20 cartons of fruit juice, you can supply them 6 cartons of fruit juice.

Any customers that want more than the 6 cartons of fruit juice, you will tell him/her they will pay cash in advance for the excess supply.

As they sell, you will come to their shops and collect your money from them for previous supply. If they default in payment, you will not supply them any goods until your customer clear his/her previous debt. That's the trick to sell on credit in Nigeria.

If you are into production business like fruit juice or yoghurt, there is no way you will not supply wholesalers in the open market on credit. Because as a new product in the market, the wholesalers may not trust your products enough or take a risk to make instant payment.

They will want to collect your products on credit and pay you as they sell until they are sure your products sell fast and highly demanded by their customers in the market.

So, selling credit sometimes depend on the nature of the business and you can not avoid it.

Ovia is where I base. The pineapple comes in different sizes. Our prizes are base on the size. The once that goes for #1800 in port Harcourt, IMO, Lagos, Bayelsa , and other busy states, is #400, #500. There are sizes for #50 and #100 which you can sell at #500 in many states.

The reason why I am asking this question is that I am a sales rep of fmcg products. And I noticed our goods sell fast on the island compared to Lagos mainland. Mainly because our products is more affordable to the upper and middle class earners. And I am sure island on Lagos has more of upper and middle class earners hence why our products sell more there compared to mainland.

The problem now is I am trying to figure out middle class neighborhood on Lagos mainland so that I can capture some market share there as well as a sales rep.
