Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by EduC(m): 11:21am On Mar 11
ositadima1:

The way I would compound it is by doing three consecutive Treasury bills, which would take a month plus.

For the first T-bills, I would put the #10 million at 21% (assuming this is the rate) and get #2.1 million upfront.

For the next auction, I would put the #2.1 million at 21% (again assuming a constant rate) and get #441 thousand upfront.

For the next auction, I would put the #441 thousand at 21% (again assuming a constant rate) and get #92.6 thousand upfront. At this point, I would stop and keep the #92.6 thousand.

At the end of the tenures, one year and a few weeks from now, they will start crediting one after the other: #10 million, then #2.1 million, and lastly #441 thousand plus the #92.6 thousand, which sums up to #12.633 million (profit of 2.63 million) . So, by compounding this way, you would make an extra #533 thousand. grin cheesy

Excellent!

I dey trade ooo, I have sold half of my Dangote Sugar shares and bought FGN bonds at about 16% yield after making over 200% profit in less than a year

Why did you do that when Dangsugar or Dangfoods can give you another 100% in the next 12 months?

Bond at 16% and MMF at 12% which is better knowing that MMF compounds and is redeemable within 24/48hrs?

Thanks

Obi won the election for our President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
We have been saying that is the way it will go many months before the election.
We predicted it aptly.

Correct man,

So, Obi would have stayed back in PDP to work for another Fulani man to take over from another Fulani man! Haba, use your common sense na! Atiku knew he had lost the election immediately he won PDP presidential primaries!

Funny jokers. Just imagine tiny latvia drumming to the song of war.

Toothless NATO will not and cant do Nada.

They all should hide and bury their head in shame instead of making threat. Imagine spending billions of dollars yearly on military equipment, holding drills here and there. Yet the billion dollar useless Air defence system which the US scammed its allies by selling to them couldnt even stop a stray-missile .

Is this the people that want to go to war with Russia? Countries with failed and useless Air defense system.

Mistake or not, i know Russia just gave them a tip of the iceberg, and god help them they will trigger their joker of Nato Article 5. That may just be the end of some countries.

Maybe then we all will know that war goes beyond chest-beating and using pro-western media to propagate propagandas.

You are too emotionally attached to Russia who are basking in ancient glory

NATO has not even triggered Article 4 and Russian Federation spokesperson has started denying that those missiles were fired from Russia. The Russian army cannot face NATO and the US presently and Putin knows this! Stop living in illusion...

We told the APC that they do not have a candidate but they kept arguing, beyond the drug related crimes for which he has been convicted, the APC candidate does not have the mental stability required to run a complex nation like ours.

Voting an APC government into power will completely ruin this nation and no patriotic Nigerian should allow it to happen.

We appreciate Sen. Bola Ahamed Tinubu for saying God Bless PDP but he can also extend it by saying God Bless Atiku Abubakar Nigeria's next President who is coming rescue Nigerians from the hopelessness they have been plunged into by the APC.

PDP and Atiku Abubakar remains Nigeria's only hope and together we can get it done!

So commissioning a bridge has become an achievement worth celebrating!

Hello Obidients! Even if Peter commissions Heaven, he still won’t become President!

You lots need to displace your emotions and face reality squarely!

Somethings are impossible in life! The adage that says “Nothing is impossible” is used to deceive the foolish!

Just look at how you lots are celebrating bridge commissioning?

It would have been a better celebration if Kwankwanso or Atiku had decamped to Labour Party! But look LL at how low Obidients have gotten to! Celebrating bridge grin

If it was by how many infrastructures aspirants have commissioned, His Excellence, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will still lead the pack by exponential margins!

Let it be known, that their is no way in Heaven and on Earth that a political minion like Peter, will stand a chance against a demigod like Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Warning: LONG POST grin

I have noticed lots of newbies asking questions on : what to buy, how to navigate the NSE, dividends, regulatory agencies (like SEC) and custodians (CSCS).

My simple advice is to read up all you can as fast as possible and arm yourself with knowledge of stock investing. We were once like you. You may not get everything by asking questions. You need to do you own research and be confident you did the hardwork.

Pick books on fundamental analysis (FA) and consume as fast as you can. Then learn Technical analysis (TA). A quick slice of both subjects : FA deals with understanding the company financial reports, management, news pertaining to the company. TA on the other hand deals with understanding how price moved in the past and how it is currently moving using several indicators. When you have quickly and fully grasped these, then you can understand where you want to put your money.

Many people will not tell you the truth, stock market can wipe you out very fast. If you are in doubt, ask those on the US stock market thread grin grin Many people may only tell you that stock market gives lots of gains, there can be losses as well. So when you see a market rising with rage, bullish on euphoria, remember that oneday things can turn sour. I was once as young as you were and had the belief that it can only rise. However the market showed that it can rise and it can fall at will.

"With every investment, one can become richer or wiser but never both" ~Unknown

Arm yourself with knowledge, when you fall pick up your pieces and stand. And keep moving! It is only with knowledge that you can survive in any investment product.

There is a global decline in all asset classes and many portfolios are hurting. My portfolio isn't having a dent because many of us foresaw this event and warned especially the US traders. When people say a bullish move will last forever, don't always listen to them. Always remember that there are seasons for everything. A season to plant and a season to harvest. However people prefer to listen to what makes them feel good and truly a bullish rage makes one feel good. But you should always trade those investment with caution especially when you entered in the late stage of the bull. Always have a balanced view(bull and bear scenario) of the market so that you will never be disappointed.

On a positive note, some tech stocks are about to bottom. Few Emerging markets have bottomed (won't name them). Some will have more pain. Some commodities will have more pain. However arming yourself with knowledge (in this case TA) will help you know when it is time to start entering into the market.

The next bullish phase in emerging markets, once it bottoms, will be an aggressive phase. As in very very aggressive. During that time, many people will start the bullish rant and lofty projections. Use your tongue to count your teeth when everyone on your street, church, school, market start investing.

"The two most powerful warriors are patience and time" ~Leo Tolstoy

Great piece of advice, thanks a lot!
