Chisos! But I don't think that person is a 10 year old boy |
michkings:I don't want to discourage you or sound pessimistic but 2.13 is below Upper Credit.. I think its below Lower Credit which is 2.5 to 2.9. UNN is a Federal University, they accept nothing less than 3.00 upward which is Upper Credit.. No Federal school that I know of accepts below Upper Credit except you did Diploma in the school.. State Universities accept 2.5 upwards.. But let me not be the bearer of bad news.. ask around and get more info |
Op its like some abbreviations are false as some people have pointed out |

I was going back to school, so I wanted to board Okada. I asked the Okada man how much he told me :'150' although the normal price was 100 I asked why 150? Why? In sheer shock. The Okada man told me that it was because of people came back home for the festive period and they wanted to make more money as they would not have the opportunity to make the money. I tried to explain to the man that it was greed but he told me: let them make the money now people are desperate to go back to where the they make their daily bread. I asked 'is it that additional 50 naira that will make them rich? He said no that it was the same pattern everywhere I'll be blunt and truthful This is why I don't want this Biafra... Is this how Biafra will be when we the Igbos are very selfish and will look for every available avenue to exploit people.. In Lagos this can never happen because in the festive period ypu can never try such nonsense. It is not only selfish it is also pure wickedness take it or leave it.. If the Biafra supporters like they should come for my head... I'll be waiting |

First and foremeost, contrary to qhat was claimed there was a Yoruba Officer who was among those that carried out the coup - Ademoyega. Ademoyega wrote a book on the coup 'Why We Struck' you probably would've heard of it. Now, Ademoyega claimed that it was agreed that the Political elites who were ruling were to be arrested and if they refused, killed. Michael Okpara the premier of Eastern was lucky not to be killed because he was in conference with the President of Cyprus.. The officer who was supposed to carry out the Coup waited for the conference to end probably because he wanted to save Nigeria's face from embarrasement. When the conference ended. Okpara was ordered to get into the car but he ignored them. He would've been shot if not for the Governor of Enugu who 'saved' his life by dragging him out of the car and yanking him out of the car of the soldiers. He (Okpara) was placed under house arrest. Let this be known that some Northern officers were among those that carried out the coup Notably Kpera (forgive me I have forgotten his first name) who later became the Military Governor of Benue State. Nzeogwu recalled thay soldiers from Northern Origin were with guns whike he was unarmed and could have killed him if they wanted to stop the coup but they did not. How can you say say it was an Igbo coup when a Military officer Lt Arthur Unegbe was killed. Contray to what was reported Unegbe was never with any key, he was not in charge of the combatant unit so he did not have the key to the armoury.Unegbe was a Quartert-Master... Unegbe was killed because he was close to the Political elite so to prevent him from raising an alarm he had to be killed. So if it was an Igbo coup why was an Igbo man killed. Ironsi quashed the coup. Mind you people were relieved that he coup was carried out especially due to the total anarchy going on in the South-West as per Awolowo and Akintola saga. Ademoyega also revealed that they (the Coup Plotters) wanted to break Awolowo out of prison and put him charge with or without his consent. Clearly, the Coup Plotters saw something in Awolowo. Those who quoted me about the Coup being an Igbo Coup should read Ademoyega's book 'Why We Struck' to know what happened and not come to Nairaland and start misbehaving |

You see thats your own theory.. Thank God you said you've read the book.. if you remember when Achebe and Christopher Okigbo were discussing about the coup.. Okigbo recalled that Ifeajuna's version of event of what happened was different from Nzeogwu he (Ifeajuna) said : Is that what Chukwuma told you?....Achebe concluded that people would never know the real story because Nzeogwu was not able to tell his own version |
T9ksy:This one will just be saying what he does not know.. I like people that talk facts. Unfortunately you like ranting everytime without stating facts like others did in this thread. Please, educate us when and how did Achebe lie |

freshboi88:'There are two infinite things: The Universe and Human Stupiditu and I am not yet completely sure about the Universe' - Albert Einstein |
bakynes:See this one, did I ever tell you that I was in support of what happened? Did I tell you that those that carried out the Coup did a good job? In my opinion those carried out the Coup were selfish and they did not think of the consequences before they acted.. I only stated facts. Go check the facts yourself.if you think they are wrong and oh please I don't like all these tribal wars on Nairaland.. don't include me in those stupid and foolish fights...But wait o you think the Easterners deserved the Progroms.. it kind of shows how shallow minded you are |
freshboi88:What is this one saying |
Spongia1:No, I don't think so. Achebe wrote that book in such a way that he exposed both sides.. He repeatedly stated that he was not in support of Biafra and criticised Ojukwu and Gowon's refusal to end the war |
SmartyPants:Forgive me if I keep on quoting Achebe's There was a Country.. Achebe said that when the news of the coup started to trickle in, there was a sense of relief infact people were happy; relieved due to the corruption of the ruling class at that time no one taged it an Igbo coup but after things began to change.. It was seen as an Igbo coup because majority of those killed were Northerners. Sir Ahmadu Bello - Premier of the Northern Region and Ladoke Akintola -Premier of the Eastern Region, Tafawa Balewa - Prime Minister. It was alleged that maybe Azikiwe knew of the Coup as he extended his holiday |
T9ksy:You see your life? Thats why I said read the book. Achebe said he was not in support of Biafra but he had to do 'something'to alleviate the suffering ofghe Igbo people.. In the book, Achebe, both criticised Gowon and Ojukwu heavily for their stubborness in allowing the war to go on for a long time. Achebe blamed the people in the circle of Gowon and Ojukwu who gave them very bad advice and made them not to seek a compromise. He (Achebe) criticised Ojukwu heavily especially when Ojuwkwu refused aid from International Powers and stated times without number that he was not in support of Biafra and that he condemns violence in any way but due to the killing of the Igbos he had to atleast to help out.. He was sent by Ojukwu to many nations to plead the Biafra cause notably to Scotland.. In his book he also said that Ojukwu fought two wars: 1. For the survival of the Igbos 2. For his own survival of the leader of the Biafra people Achebe did not ever say he was in support, niether was he against it. He saw Biafra as necessary because the safety of the Igbos could no longer be guaranteed.. Read and know history, you've refused. its to display your ignorance.. There is an adage that says : He that does not know where the rain started to beat him will not know where it stoped.. funny 'cause thats what Achebe started the book with |
Oh my bad.. Thanks a lot |
No, you are in cold water

seunmsg:I disagree First and foremost, Aguiyi Ironsi did not take part in the Coup. He had no idea there was a coup until he got the wind of it. The five Junior Officers otherwise known as The Five Majors with ImNzeogwu as their ring leader also wanted to kill Ironsi as he had killed other officers from other tribefortunately Ironsi got wind of the Coup and botched the Coup, assumed power and decreed a Unitary Constitution. What made the North angry was that after the Coup was botched Ironsi did not Court Martial the Plotters of the Coup instead the Northerners claimed he promoted the Coup Plotters. Ironsi tried to pacify the North by offering the some Northern officers key position in his office and he released some officers who had been thrown in Prison by the Five Majors.. The Northern Officers - humiliated did not care and those released from Prison planned a way to carry out a Counter Coup which was carried out in July 1966.. A very bloody Coup. The Northerners saw the January 15 Coup as an 'Igbo Coup' but in reality Nzeogwu the ring leader of those that carried out the Coup was just an Igbo in paper. Spoke Hausa fluently, dressed like an Hausa when he was not on Uniform had lot of Hausa friends. Let this be known: Ironsi did not partake in the coup he just got the wind of it as he too would have been killed.. When the Northerners staged a Counter Coup Igbo Officers were killed in hundreds including Ironsi The Northern Officers demanded that Gowon be made Head of State although he was not the most superior officer, a Yoruba Officer - Ogundipe was but the North rejected him and made Gowon Head of State. After the Coup, Progroms were going on in Major cities in Nigeria, Northerner killed the Igbos and the Yoruba's jeered were the Igbos.. Ojukwu, the Military Governor of Eastern Nigeria alerted Gowon. Gowon promised an end to the Progroms but it did not stop it only got worse... Ojukwu, seeing that the safety of the Igbos could not be assured declared the state of Biafra.. The rest is history One can clearly see that the wounds of days preceding the war and after the war are yet to be healed. That's why when I see tribes insulting each other I kind of feel sorry for them.. To understand the Nigeria 'story' better, read 'There Was A Country' by Chinua Achebe |
