You see yourself. Soyinka established the cult to fight against opression during his days in the university. It was not a violent group. Unfortunately cults have been turned upside down

I think you should always know history before saying (or in this case writing) things.

that means, the couple must be Afonjas!! because, any crime, like gay, fraud or skull mining, they are kings in it ! thats their area of concentration....

Wait, with the way you guys (Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa) insult each other on Nairaland is pathetic. Everything turns to insult, death wish among other things. And I think the mods key into this by bringing religious and ethnic matters to FP so that people (tribes) can freely insult each other. Very soon Biafrans will start and Yorubas will follow suit. That kind of hate is toxic. Scotland wanted to secede from the U.K but I never heard of insults and deathwish. Every story pushed to FP is either on ethnic and religious issues. I hardly come here again because of the hatred that come out from people

I earlier said I would have nothing to do with this topic but your comment drew my attention. I am igbo, but I am not a dummy. Hear me clearly brother, we are biting more than we can chew. We complain repeatedly of marginalization under the current Nigerian arrangement but we are so selfish to the point that no one wants to bury his ambition for the other. Atiku, Kwankwaso and their likes shelved their ambitions and gladly threw their weight behind PMB to win the seat over to the north. Something the ibos would not do on a good day. Let's be factual here, nothing stops an ibo man from campaigning, winning the presidential election and approving the construction of 10 seaports and 50 niger bridges. How many times have your senators, representatives and ministers pleaded on your behalf until recently? When GEJ your half brother was there appointing Easterners up and down what did the Ibos achieve? Why did we not build all our roads and bridges then? and why didn't we push for our referendum then? if we remain blind to these things, we may just have another case of South Sudan on our hands.
Besides we don't have a leader. Nnamdi Kanu is far from leadership or what it entails. Having people bow to him, forming Ibo jew to get Israel's attention, and calling other human beings derogatory names to drive home a point is far from leadership. Call him a ruler and I will lend you my left ear but that dude is far from a leader.

Sentiments aside, think about it nwanne.
God you made a very good point. Our great Ojukwu contested for election how many of us voted for him? I school in Anambra and I know what I see. An Abakaliki man does not like an Anambra man. An Anambra man sees a man from Abakiliki as inferior. He won't even allow him to lead him. Let us take a practical example of the crisis rocking Ahiara diocese today. Just because the Bishop is not from Imo state but from Anambra state he won't be their Bishop. Catholic Church o. My Church. A church that is considered holy now imagine politics that is a do or die affair. I have nothing against Biafra but I know that we are very selfish. South Sudan will be considered heaven because I know our character

I always tend to laugh when we Igbos cry about Biafra. Its so wrong on many levels. Some even attribute some form of heroism to war as if its some heroic duty. One guy even said that let us go for a 'rematch' that if anything, history has taught him is that: those who have failed keep on trying. I laughed because history has also taught us that 'history repeats itself because man fails to learn from it'.
"Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it."

U don't get what u want by throwing shades at other people, u'll end frustrating yourself the more. I implore my igbo brothers to let reason prevail before sentiments. Thanks

People who are saying that no one was forced to stay at home are very funny. Go out on that day and you'll see how people will intimidate you. There was one that was organised and people who opened shops were intimidated and their wares were ransacked. The 3 million Igbos killed in the war should and must be remembered but it should not be done like an order, it should be solemn. You can't say you don't support the Biafra in the East in a midst of die-hard Biafra supporters and expect your body to be complete. I did, and people came for my head (Bridget95 comes to mind.) The most un organised struggle ever. Can some one just break the biafran structure down? I know there is a kanu who is the poster child and face of the struggle and there is a Radio Biafra. What else? If Kanu falls down and die, what is next for Biafra? Besides, the Biafran struggle is yet to pass the leadership test that solidifies a group. No major splinter group as emerged, no major internal crisis in allocation of roles, responsibilities and authority. Biafra for now is just blanket. When it gets to who gets what, when and how; we will then know if it's a genuine struggle or just a set of opportunists making noise. The crisis of specifics will soon come. Conquer them and get your Biafra. Biafra so far has passed test with an E and is failing already in the others.

See, I want to say something: I am an Igbo man and I don't support Biafra not because of any specific reason but for the selfish and greedy nature of some of us...... I once told a friend that I don't support Biafra and he told me that if it were in Aba or some parts of Delta that I would've been set ablaze by now......So I thought to myself: Is this the kind of Biafra we the Igbos want? How can you beat someone black and blue because he said he does not believe in Biafra.... and Radio Biafra is celebrating this? Not just the Radio, people too!... You call Nigeria a zoo because you say people here behave like animals. Are you any better? You post pictures of someone the armed forces tear gassed and you says this behaviour can only be found in the zoo.... You are guilty of the same thing!..... So because the young man does not agree with you.... you beat him to a pulp and you still have the guts to say that IPOB would not be held responsible? What kind of message does this pass across.... Half of Biafra supporters ask them to educate you in Biafra they'll just be staring..... I once asked one to tell me the date the Biafra war started, dude instead told me the day Nigeria got her independence....... If you like quote me..... I don't care

Nigerians, the CBN is making efforts to reduce the rates but things will still remain high because we prefer to cheat than to actually do business.
That'sthe reality... we Nigerians are very selfish... When Dollar was high people were blaming the high cost of goods on Dollar but now people are still doing the same thing. Why? Greed..... PresidentRich:
both of( you and edudguy) are Childish. You don't take time to read to comprehend before you bulge out your ignorance.

Ojukwu never had the intention to war against Nigeria. Even after the pogrom of 1966, he was interested in unifying the two regions by ordering the Igbos to go back and start up life in Nigeria.

He(Ojukwu of blessed memory) knew he has no military power to fight Nigeria had to negotiate with Gowon at Aburi (Aburi Accord).

Gowon rejected the agreement( after he has signed and agreed with Ojukwu based on the agreement) days after.

Ojukwu declared plainly "on Aburi I stand"
Aburi-Accord is not about Biafra, is about running Nigeria through Confederacy.

Ojukwu never shot the first bullet, he never moved his army to fight Nigeria.
The war came to him and he had to defend himself.

Next time pls if you are a child don't comment on any topic in this forum until you get wisdom to comment on any issue.
Like I said in my response to another person, forgive me if I implied that Ojukwu started the war

But one thing I just want to point out was that the war started as a Police Action to arrest Ojukwu.... In response Ojukwu made a plan to seize Lagos (his reason I don't know) The Igbos breezed through Delta and Edo because there was little or no resistance they however got stuck in Ore (modern day Ondo state) where they were countered by the Nigerian Army...It was after this War was declared by the Nigerian Army.....In Achebe's Novel 'There was a Country' Achebe pointed out that Ojukwu had already been planing for war if negotiations failed... there were, many negotiations including delegates sent to Eastern Nigeria... but it was already clear that it was going to be futile because of tje progroms that happened in the North and the Country's indifference. Achebe also noted that there was rumour of war and people had already started moving from their homes into forests...

When Zik withdrew his support for Biafra he openly criticized Ojukwu for not consulting him and the Premier of the Eastern Region (Michael Opara) before going to war.... because the Eastern Region were not prepared to go to war beacuse it did not have the ammunition the Nigerian Army....

Achebe criticised Gowon and Ojukwu for their stubbornness in refusing to end the war that claimed millions of lives he blamed it on their ego and their inner circles (those who advised both men....)

Achebe also noted that after the war broke out... the Nigerian Government offered Biafra Confederacy but Biafra said no that it was a fight to the finish... with reality staring down on Biafra, the same Biafra offered the Nigerian government Confederacy and Ojukwu personally appealed to international organisations andthe world to negotiate but the Nigerian government seeing it was winning the war refused and saidit was willing to fight till the end.....
Ojukwu also refused to accept aid when clearly he knew millions of Children were starving to death

It was clear that Ojukwu did not put other things into consideration before engaging in war with Nigeria.... Gown on his own part was not true to his own word

So the Civil War is not something you can really point accusing fingers at one person both parties were wrong

Now, Mr PresidentRich and bounty007 who is ignorant amongst the three of us? Who is Childish amongst the three of us?

Dont talk like a fool. Did Ojukwu start any war? It was Nigeria and Gowon that started the war. It was far incumbent on Gowon as head of state to prevent war than Ojukwu.

Gowon should not have declared war without first giving dialogue a chance. How you go to kill those you claim are your brothers without giving peace a chance first?

Gowon broke the Aburi agreement
Gowon ordered 'Police action'
Gowon declared war

Gowon caused the civil war all for access to Oil money
Forgive me, if I may have implied that Ojukwu started the war. You said Police Action... That's how the Civil War started everyone thought it was just going to be a small issue that it became a full blown war... The Biafran Army wanted to seize Lagos... they breezed Delta and Edo and got stuck in Ore (Ondo State) they successfully passed Delta and Edo because there was little or no resistance but in Ore they were met with resistance the Nigerian Army countered hence the begininng of the war.... The Civil War was caused by two things
1. Injustice, Freedom
2. Greed and inexperience of very two naive soldiers (Gowon and Ojukwu)

P. S Don't call me a fool... I don't remember insulting anyone
