Shalom428: If you have good money that you don't want to lose and you are risk adverse, just align with money market jejely for now. NGX defiles all analysis at the moment. Floor market is more attractive than RI.. Lol ...
The game right now is for the market makers, the money bags that can afford to average down, the bullion vans that want controlling shares in some companies most especially banks and the highly experienced investors.
If you don't fall in any of the above categories, save yourself some sleepless night and invest in short term MM instruments, the rate is good right now. Be a smart investor. When the coast is clear , even the blind will see.
Shalom Quite frankly, you are probably right! But don't forget that there are folks with good cash flow from their business or job that buy good dividend paying stocks once every week or once every month of the year. For me,I believe time in the market is better than timing the market. |

Equity or Stock Market is like Real Estate(Housing Rental Business).
You built a house for 25 million Naira and could only get 250 thousand Naira as annual rent.
The above example can be likened to someone who bought 1 million units of First Bank shares for 25 million Naira and the person could only get around 3 hundred thousand Naira as dividend.
Both investors from my examples above have made a wrong investment decisions. |

Gerrard59: This is not the first time the West led by the US is fighting a peer competition when she cannot compete. The same was done against the Japanese, yes, Japan, the US' best buddy in East Asia. Japan was in the same position as China today with its semi-conductor firms dishing out chips like mad. Japanese automakers were producing quality cars at affordable prices. Japanese banks were dominant throughout the world. The US was angry and complained bitterly that its products are not allowed into the Japanese markets (a lie). Japanese weren't interested in buying American products for cultural and geographical reasons. For instance, American cars are way too big for Japanese roads and streets.
Japanese semiconductors were dominant in the industry because of their efficiency and affordability. The same rhetoric against China was peddled at the Japanese. A Chinese man was even killed by an irate American because he was thought to be Japanese. It was that bad. Mind you, at this time (1980s), Japan was America's major ally in the whole of Asia. America collaborated with the Japanese to rebuild the country after bombing her twice with nuclear weapons. Japan was, and is, literally America's baby. Yet America was aghast at Japan's economic growth and forced it (Japan) to sign the Plaza Accords.
So, if Japan could be treated in such a manner, how much more China?
Our people should learn to read history biko. Read the Plaza Accords, Centruy of Humilation, Opium Wars etc.
As for EVs, presently, no Chinese car is being sold in the US as the carmakers are opening factories in Southeast Asia and South America. There is even a plant coming up in Hungary and Mexico. Guess what? American lawmakers complained to Mexican politicians why they allowed Chinese automakers to build factories in the country. Imagine questioning a country for accepting foreign investment in manufacturing o. As for Western automakers, and even their allies' vassals' automakers in Korea and Japan, NONE can withstand their Chinese counterparts in all aspects of EVs. Yes, China is that dominant. EVERY Western automaker who wants to make an impact in EV MUST collaborate with a Chinese company to be able to compete. China is that dominant, out of sheer hard work, persistence and determination.
My advice to the Chinese has always been simple: play the long game, invest in other countries. The West is less than 20% of the world's population and landmass. Play the long game. Develop the technology and sell it at cheap prices. Yes, as it is, Chinese EVs are almost like pure water yet have the highest quality, tech and designs.
Play the long game! You're quite right! Just like the way USA treated Japan during the 2nd World War is similar to the way Britain humiliated China during the Opium war. But,I believe China is now wiser and prepared to dominate the world through the medium of the Communist Party of China and Xi Jinping! |

The problem is not importing foreign instructors
The problem is doing the right things;like treating the junior officers in the battle front right ,and not embezzling funds meant for arms and ammunitions.
Securing Nigeria is not rocket science, junior officers must be motivated and remunerated adequately.
The culture of mediocrity must be jettisoned for Nigeria to make real progress. |
