Morocco launch official complaint against World Cup semi-final referee Cesar Ramos after France controversy

Morocco have launched an official complaint to Fifa over the performance of referee Cesar Ramos in their World Cup semi-final defeat to France.

The knockout stages in Qatar have been hit by a number of officiating controversies, with England, Argentina and Portugal all making their dissatisfaction clear in crucial games.

On Wednesday night, Morocco were knocked out of the World Cup after being beaten 2-0 by France.

The Atlas Lions made clear their fury with Mexican referee Ramos after Soufiane Boufal was booked for tangling with Theo Hernandez in the French penalty area.

“The Royal Moroccan Football Federation strongly protests the officiating of the Moroccan national team match against the French national team, led by Cesar Arturo Ramos Palazuelos,” read a statement.

“The Royal Moroccan Football Federation affirms that it will not hesitate to defend the rights of our team, calling for fairness in taking the necessary measures regarding the refereeing injustice against the Moroccan national team in its match against the French national team, in the semi-final of the World Cup.”

Canadian official Drew Fischer was in charge of VAR and refused to overturn the yellow card by advising a penalty be given to Morocco. He was behind the controversial decision to award a penalty to Saudi Arabia against Poland earlier in the tournament.

Ramos, meanwhile, had previously overseen the African nation’s win over Belgium plus two other games in Qatar.

Speaking on BBC’s broadcast of the semi-final, former England captain Alan Shearer said: “Not [a penalty] for me, no. Hernandez actually gets the ball there.”

But Rio Ferdinand argued: “He does but... the other leg. I think anywhere else on the pitch and that's a foul. So why's it not a penalty?”

When a man has sex with a woman and she does not get orgasm, she will resort to self-masturbation to get one. That is why divorce has skyrocketed. So, don't blame your wife or girlfriend for going this route, but instead, ask yourself, what are you doing wrong sexually?

The incident occurred in the western Kasese District of Uganda while the young boy was playing outside his home, according to a report citing local police.

A man saw the attack and immediately jumped into action, the report noted.

Identified as Chrispas Bagonza, he began throwing stones at the hippo, police said.

Eventually, the rocks startled the hippo to the point where it regurgitated the boy alive and fled into the nearby Lake Edward.

"This is the first such kind of incident where a hippo strayed out of the Lake Edward and attacked a young child," the Uganda Police Force said.

The way Nigerians are in love with Messi makes no sense. They glorify messi each time he scores fake penalty goal. Messi is not a good soccer player. I personally took time to watch messi's goals he has scored over the past 10 years, 99% of them came from offside positions. Referees usually look the other way, when Messi is offside. Is that what you--messi fans glorifying?

What Nigerians need to start debating is how to select 11 players to represent Nigeria in future world cup matches instead of occupying yourself with how mighty messi is. I don't get it.
I am not asking you not to glorify messi, what i am asking you is what is the goal?

Gunmen attack electoral office in southeast Nigeria, kill policeman

Mon, December 12, 2022 at 10:48 AM
ANAMBRA, Nigeria (Reuters) - Gunmen bombed the headquarters of the electoral commission in Nigeria's southeastern Imo state on Monday and killed a policeman during a gunfight, police spokesman Michael Abattam said.

Elections have in the past been marred by violence in Nigeria, which holds a presidential vote in February to elect a successor to President Muhammadu Buhari, now in his second and final term.

Imo is one of the states in the southeast where gunmen have attacked electoral officials, killed politicians and security agents this year. The government blames the separatist group Indigenous People of Biafra, which has denied the charge.

Abattam said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in the state capital Owerri was attacked at about 3 a.m. (0200 GMT).

"They threw bombs on the roof of the INEC building but unfortunately for them, they were resisted by our men who were guarding the place," Abattam said.

He said the police repelled the attack after receiving reinforcements.

"Fortunately, we neutralised three of them. Others escaped with bullet wound injuries," he said, adding that a policeman was killed and another injured.

Two other gunmen were arrested and police recovered explosives, phones and five rifles.

INEC said in a statement no critical election materials were damaged. It added that this was the third attack on its facilities in Imo state this month.

I found Reuters reports credible. Reuters was founded in 1951--over 171 years ago. Reuters only reports stories when it has credible eyes witnesses account, videos evidence and photos to back up their reports before going public. They don't engage in gossip or hear say reports. They only go public when there is evidence to support a claim .

Useless nation called Nigeria.
I am talking about a country of 62 plus years -- which cannot provide clean water for its citizens. No roads or adequate transportation for its citizens. Receive over $15b a day from oils revenues.

"Reuters in the report had alleged that since at least 2013, the Nigerian military had conducted a secret, systematic and illegal abortion programme in the country’s northeast ending at least 10,000 pregnancies among women and girls."

The hypocrisy of Nigerian government is exposed in Reuters reports for the whole world to see!
If this report by Reuters was made by a Nigerian, Nigerian police would have arrested the author and put in jail or kill him. Just last week, Aisha Buhari threatened to sue a student who accused her of taking food from kid mouths.

I am waiting to see if the Nigerian government will sue Reuters news agency for defamation of character.
And i also want to see if Journalists in Nigeria would ask Nigerian government why not sue Reuters if the story is false.

Will the Nigerian government sue Reuters if this report is false?
The inquiry minds want to know!

Hello fellow Nairalanders,
Before you ask ask questions, first read Nigerian news papers to discover what each of these candidates running for elections have said over the past 10 years or more . That gives you an opportunity to add follow up questions if you find them to be lying. Second, base your questions on candidate stated positions which you care about most .

Third, questions are asked based on the claims and reasons for the claims.

Fourth, don't just ask questions for the seek of of asking questions.

Fifth, ask questions that makes sense. Usually, questions that make sense are those which are based on the claims.

Ibos and Yoruba people are very destructive to the country of Nigeria. They never follow and obey the law of Nigeria. They are the two leading tribes in the areas of corruption, terrorism, kidnapping, murders and you named it. They import drugs-- which helped to destroy families and individuals lives. I call for the use of nerve gas to eliminate these two tribes .

That in my view is a lasting solution to rebuilding Nigeria.

Below is an opinion page I wrote before Morocco took on Portugal:

Morocco vs Portugal

After Portugal trashed Switzerland by 6-1, in the second round of 2022 World cup, most sports writers are now favoring Portugal to beat Morocco. I disagree. And here is why. These same sport writers have predicted Brazil beating Croatia. And they had also predicted Netherlands beating Argentina. Were they right? The short answer is not. As we have seen since World cup games began barely two weeks ago, any team can win. What happened on a football field yesterday, dose translate into what will happen in the field today. So, I write to say that Morocco is not out until they are beaten in the football field by the Portuguese. In 2018 World cup, Morocco lost to Portugal by 1-0. I got that. But 2018 is not 2022. Today, most of those players who played for Morocco in 2018 are not in 2022 tournament. Now, did Morocco learn anything from that game? I bet you they did. And if Morocco did not learn anything about Portugal in their 2018 defeat, here is what I recommend they should do differently today. I want to recommend Morocco National team in this world cup to watch 2022 u17 women world cup videos featuring participating countries to learn how to beat Portugal and advance to first ever African appearance in Fifa world cup final. Morocco should do the following if they truly want to beat Portugal: First, stop dribbling the ballafter crossing mid field. Second, shoot the ball at the Portugal goal post after crossing the 50-yard line. U17 women World cup matches show that chances of defeating your opponents when shooting the ball at goal post increase at greater rate than when dribbling the ball into the net.

Messi is Ronaldo of Portugal. He (Messi) like Renado hangs mostly on the offside positions to score a goal. So, i don't get when people called Messi a good footballer. Again, stop calling messi a good footballer because he is not. He fakes fouls--to get a shut at goal.

Brazil cannot win a world cup mainly because their style of play is similar to Africans. They dribble too much-- allowing opposition teams to take up Positions on their chances. And another reason why Brazil cannot win a world cup is their players are very selfish. Brazilian players play football to attract media attention and to get next big contracts to play in overseas clubs. So much of public reliance on Brazil to win worldcup is based on the credibility of Pele--a former Brazil player in the 70s who used to score at will. Today, Pele is old and cannot any longer play. These younger generations are not listening. Time to move on from Brazilian era.

When Nigeria scored against Spain in 1998, Spain never recovered. So, this is a little in the history book for Morocco if they want to advance.

Historically, a team which scores first in football games ends up winning the match, 90% of the times. It is very hard fighting from behind to win a football match. Nigerian student Aminu Adamu Mohammed apologises to Aisha Buhari over tweet

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife Aisha Buhari, during his inauguration in Abuja, Nigeria 29 May 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari's wife, Aisha Buhari, has been Nigeria's first lady since he took office in 2015
A Nigerian university student arrested and detained for more than two weeks after he allegedly defamed President Muhammadu Buhari's wife on Twitter has apologised to the first lady.

Aminu Adamu Mohammed was released on Friday after authorities dropped the charges on ''compassionate grounds.".

Mr Mohammed denied spreading ''false'' information during a court appearance.

He denied defaming Aisha Buhari in a tweet suggesting she had misused public money to her satisfaction.

But in a series of tweets and video messages over the weekend, the 24-year-old undergraduate apologised to Mrs Buhari for the initial tweet.

''It was never my intention to hurt your feelings'' he said, promising to ''change for the better.''

Mr Mohammed also thanked Mrs Buhari for forgiving him, describing her as ''our mother.''

He described his experience as ''the darkest hours of my life.''

He did not give details but he expressed his ''heartfelt gratitude'' to those who showed him support saying his case should serve as a ''lesson to all of us".

Amnesty International said Aminu Adamu Mohammed was subjected to "torture" after his arrest
His apology to Mrs Buhari has sparked controversy on social media in Nigeria with many users saying the first lady should apologize to him instead because of the way he was treated.

But there are some who say his apology was right in order to resolve the dispute.

The arrest and the subsequent charge against the student had sparked outrage in Nigeria with many social media users and rights campaigners calling for his immediate release.

On Thursday, Amnesty International said Mr Mohammed was subjected to "torture" and other forms of "ill-treatment" after his arrest, calling it a "deeply repressive act" that "brazenly violates his human rights". Nigerian authorities have not yet commented on these allegations.

Mr Mohammed is studying environmental management at the Federal University in Dutse, in the northern state of Jigawa, and is due to start his final exams on Monday.

Fighting from behind is difficult or next to impossible. That is the problem bewildered African teams from winning world cup.. We get scored first before Fighting back. For example Ghana, Cameroon and Tunisia fought from behind after being down by many goals. As a result, these teams are home watching world cup on TV. Senegal should not repeat this stupid mistake. They should score first to get pressure off themselves. If Senegal scores first, victory is theirs. But if Senegal wait for England to score first , they are heading home this afternoon.
