Immediate past Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has announced his intention to approach the Supreme Court of Nigeria to seek redress on the Appeal Court judgement which nullified his election as the APC candidate for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District.

This was contained in a statement personally signed by the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and made available to newsmen.

The court ruled that a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. Udom Ekpoudom is the APC candidate for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District.

According to Akpabio," my attention has been drawn to the judgement delivered by the Court of Appeal Abuja Division, directing the INEC to delist my name from their list as the APC senatorial candidate for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District in the forthcoming 2023 elections.

He appealed to his supporters, party members and all his constituents to "remain calm and law-abiding, as they continue their campaigns for the successes of the APC in Akwa Ibom North West, Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large."


" It is instructive to mention that I was not a party in the said Appeal though Orders were made against me and my interest," argued Akpabio.

He continued, " whilst awaiting a copy of the said judgement to be made available to me and any other interested party, it is important to state that I am a Lawyer by training and a law abiding citizen of this country and I am bound by our laws and judgements emanating from our courts including the one under reference.

Nigerian media outlets reported on the promotion of USarmy officer Amanda Azubuike from the rank of lieutenant colonel to brigadier general in early November. Several social media posts claimed to show a screenshot of one such report by a national newspaper describing Azubuikeas as a “Biafran woman”, in reference to the separatist movement in Nigeria's southeast. But AFP Fact Check found that the headline was altered, with the original version calling her “Nigerian”.

The account behind the post has a history of publishing content sympathetic to a separatist group known as the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Several other pro-IPOB accounts on Twitter and Facebook also shared the screenshots here, here, here and here.

IPOB is pushing for the independence of Nigeria’s southeast - the same region where Azubuike’s father came from, according to the misleading post.

The organisation has a history of spreading disinformation and has been the subject of various debunks by AFP Fact Check.

Calls for a separate state of Biafra remain a hot-button topic in Nigeria more than half a century after secessionist leader Chukwuemeka Ojukwu declared the independence of the country’s southeast in 1967. This was followed by a brutal 30-month civil war.

Though the breakaway state has since rejoined the rest of the country, members of IPOB and those sympathetic to its cause still refer to themselves as Biafrans.

However, the headline describing Azubuike as Biafran is false.

The search results showed three articles, two of which reported Azubuike’s promotion to brigadier general. They described her either as a “Nigerian woman” or a “Nigerian-born woman”.

Using the date, byline, and photo seen in the altered screenshot, AFP Fact Check traced the original headline to this story published on November 3, 2022, with the title "Nigerian woman becomes General in US Army".

The article itself did not refer to Biafra and says Azubuike was born in London.

Second, how to return to your country when things get tougher, and worst is difficult. Third, Locals don't like foreigners make it difficult to survive.

I listed above reasons with lots of experiences in my belt. When i left Nigeria years ago to study abroad, the money i brought from Nigeria to my foreign country only lasted me for a year. Finding a job after was difficult. That is because most jobs go to locals. And even when locals don't want the job, employers still refused to hire foreigners. It gets worser, when you are black man. So is the case with many Nigerians who are now caught in crimes spree. So, i faced many difficulties completing my education, and the truth is, never one day did i think of committing a crime. I did odd jobs to pay my way to school and graduated. Then, I went to graduate school and graduated also. And thank God for that.

Nigerians who are caught up in crimes are those who cannot support themselves after they arrived in a foreign country to study. Returning home is never an option because you are ashamed of yourself and thinking about how you are going to survive back home.

So, the purpose of contributing to this story is to advice Nigerians to please stay at home. That is because home is the best. No difficulties that you are going through in NIgeria today is lesser than what you meet abroad. Bola Tinubu prospect for winning election in 2023 presidential election is built on the hope that president Buhari will instruct his men in INEC office to steal election for him. And here is evidence—which tied Mr. Bola Tinubu to this theory:

When Vice president Osinbayo jumped into APC primaries elections, that irritated and prompted Mr. Tinubu to say this " me and president Buhari had an agreement where president buhari would rule Nigeria for 8 years and turned over the presidency to me"

That quotation above is why Bola Tinubu is running for the presidency of Nigeria. He has no political capital outside Southwest of Nigeria. At the moment, South/South, Southeast and entire Northern states of Nigeria are not going to vote for Tinubu—large enough to make him president.
Mr. Tinubu repeated claim above for several days before he won the APC party primaries is scary.

This begs one question: did president Buhari promise to turn over the presidency to Bola Tinubu at the end of his term in 2023?

And here is the thing, Bola Tinubu never provided any document to back up his claim. Also, and more importantly, president Buhari never denied the existence of any agreement to turn over the presidency of Nigeria to Mr. Tinubu.

The Nigerian press has heard Mr. Tinubu repeated claims that he has an agreement to support Buhari's presidency and in turn, Buhari would turn over the presidency to Tinubu, yet, no member of the press has approached president Buhari to ask if he promised to turn over the presidency of Nigeria to Tinubu. I say none.

The Nigerian press members should be ashamed of themselves for not challenging president Buhari on this damning claim. That means Nigerian press is not doing their job.

Integrity of elections in Nigeria matters. Late Mr. Kofi Annan—former UN secretary General in his book titled “Deeping democracy, why election with integrity matters” said “When citizens go to the polls and cast their votes, they aspire not only to elect their leaders, but to choose a direction for their nation.” Kofi Annan warns that while elections with integrity can bolster democracy, flawed elections can undermine it”. Is that a lie?

Bola Tinubu desperate attempt to get elected is worrisome for a number of reasons. First, Bola Tinubu is a Muslim. He selected another Muslim as his running mate in a desperate effort to win the presidential election in 2023. Election of Bola Tinubu and his Muslim running mate will Islamized Nigeria—setting up sharia law and using Nigeria to stage violence crimes all over the continent of Africa.
Second, Bola Tinubu keeps flowing the idea that an agreement exists between him and president Buhari to turn over the presidency to him upon leaving office in 2023. This behavior can taint election outcomes—leading to violence across Nigeria.
Third, history of past elections in Nigeria has proven, sham election prevailed in most elections’ outcomes. Doubts about election winner will certainly destabilize Nigeria. The presidency will not be respected.

Already voices for dissent for Tinubu presidency have begun to emerge. For an example, Adewale Giwa, the Senior pastor, The Second coming of Chris Ministry in Nigeria has said “what Nigerians are going through in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari will not be different from what they will experience in 2023 if the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu wins the election”.

Pastor Giwa concern is significant for a number of reasons.
And here is why:
Lagos state under the leadership of Bola Tinubu in the early 2000s, is recognized as the dirtiest capital in the world. Shopping places in Lagos are poorly disorganized. When you walk around the city, you witness people defecate in public. Restaurants and other eatery areas smell terrible and have trash all over the place. Broken bottles are scattered all over the streets. When it rains, homes, shops and apartment buildings are overwhelmed with floods—destroying the livelihood of residents and property owners.
Crime rates got skyrocketed after Mr. Tinubu became governor of Lagos state.
If and God forbid, Tinubu wins the presidency of Nigeria in 2023 Nigerians will witness the highest crime rates ever, property value will go down, unemployment among all age groups will go through the roof, ethnic violence will engulf Nigeria, Islamic state will establish their headquarters---leading to raping of women, vandalism, sharia law will become the law of the land.

To all Nigerians, is that what you want?

Second, presidential system of government currently operating in Nigeria is a winner take all system. That also means---who wins the party nomination can pick anybody they want, including their mom or daddy as running mate. So, who Atiku picked as his running mate is not anybody business, but Atiku.

Only the winner of a party primaries election decides who their running mate should be, not state governors or party members. The reason why Mr. Nyesom Wike is upset now is because he does not understand how presidential system of government works. That is why, I am recommending to people interested in politics---to read the constitution before going into politics. That way, you don't make a fool out of yourself.
