PhonesRe: Bill Mandating Bloggers to have Physical Offices Scales Second Reading At Senate by eepeepook: 8:09pm On Mar 18, 2025
Funny that I didn’t notice this posted here. Let me copy what I saw somewhere.

meobizy:
Sango Ota, Sango Ota, Sango, Sango, Sango Ota.

Sango Ota, Sango Ota, Sango, Sango, Sango Ota.

I just heard on national news that the senate are on a second motion to pass a bill to ensure that social media corporations open physical operations bases in the country. If successful, this will force Seun’s hand to create a Nairaland office in Sango Ota. It was an idea I pitched eleven years ago. When one feels like a god, he acts accordingly. He will not remember because — like most other useful suggestions here — he skimmed through it, laughed and continued his day. He cannot ignore the government when it comes knocking.

What the government wants is means to regulate online chatter. Expect a neutered Nairaland if the bill pulls through. It’s not like here wasn’t a shell of itself to begin with. It will become worse. The many trolls present will face IP bans (yes, those will be finally implemented) and leave out of fear of getting caught (Nairaland is quick to divulge information to federal authorities). You trolls think you’re secure behind VPN walls, abi? I’ll start seeing your hungry faces one by one in dailies. Sha, three trolls caught and the rest will disappear quickly. Nairaland go truly empty.

The situation will also present avenues to lobby. Government officials will come on routine visits for “pocket money” after inspecting to see how operations are faring. Every election period, these offices will receive visits from differing political parties with “consideration money” running into millions of Naira. CEOs will feed fat. At the same time, these CEOs will experience frequent visits to police stations over offending posts which make front page for longer than stipulated hours. Seun, are you ready for such a future?

Will Nairaland make it to 2030 under such conditions? No. The forum will pack up in less than six months after implementation. At least the real world recession will be felt by online entrepreneurs. Na to dust brown envelopes in response, some lazy youths will have to find real world jobs.

To note: I doubt the government wants a proper office with multiple workers. I believe a room with one man running operations is enough to qualify as a physical base. All the government requires is someone who can be pulled by the testicles whenever things don’t go its way. The faceless moderators can remain faceless. We would’ve discovered the many female moderators who are actually men in disguise.

Last last, all affected parties go see money chop. Nothing concern me with government matter. Everything na film trick to entertain the ignorant masses. Na my job I face unless their shenanigans disrupt am. My family must feed. Hunger doesn’t take breaks.

Goodmarlian:
I have lived in Nigeria Delta, Rivers and bayelsa Precisely it is very hard to identify a cultist in Niger Delta unless they let you know, they are always well dressed and have a harmless look even though they smoke and take drugs.but in Lagos and other Western States they are very easily to identify, they always have hard face and haggardly dark in complexion, from a distance you will recognize and spot them out very easily sometimes.
Did they harass you because of your small stature?

I only fear the environmental implications of this. Nothing concerns me with the humans involved. They’re animals on a normal day.
RomanceRe: Romance: Zimbabwean Women Take The Centre Stage by eepeepook: 9:46am On Mar 18, 2025
The writer is a chubby chaser. He must’ve lived in western Nigeria while growing.

My friend back in the day caught himself a Zambian. We laughed at him because she was three times his size — completely out of his normal selection of women. He was full of praises and always reminded us that Zambians and Zimbabweans were given orientation from older women on how to please men. Despite her not being his physical specification for a female partner, he would pick her or any of her country folk ten times over any Nigerian woman who only wants to gain from a man.

I realised because all I did was complain and complain

Instead of taking life as it is

That's why my life was hard
.. I was complaining and yet still overcoming so many obstacles, that I thought I wouldn't be able to get through

It's not hard, I was just complaining and thinking life is hard

DStv provides world class services. They should fire on since no company on the continent can rival them.

The woman really is troublesome. Take your suspension like a reasonable human being. This is the type who’ll quickly call a man childish. See how she’s acting.

Fear, rage and hate bait. Most news, especially fake ones, possess one of these attributes. Pick the one which applies to the story you suspect and keep it moving. Do not put money into the accounts of non-creative outlets.
PoliticsRe: In 1 week, this post Will Be 10 Years Old by eepeepook: 3:36pm On Mar 17, 2025
It happened. Every December, it is called Detty December. It is a phenomenon which has happened since 2014, thereabout. Nigerian journalists heard of it ten full years after and didn’t let citizens breathe last year.

The US have killed another employee. Time to send funds for them to rebuild. Those Arabs make for good target practice. What else will America use their shiny new weapons and defence research on?
FamilyRe: Why Do Children Tend To Love Their Mother More Than Their Father? by eepeepook: 3:56pm On Mar 15, 2025
I won’t contribute to this. I’ve seen answers identifying the cause in my own case. The problem is that millennials and even Gen Z will make the same mistake. Honestly, all that matters is the children’s growth. If they successfully made it to adulthood, both parents did a good job.
