All the northern governors, senators. Traditional rulers etc either completely lack vision or are extremely dumb. They are in the best position to end this mess (if they truly want to). I have said b4, until the day one of these bombs kills either the Sultan of Sokoto or one of the northern governors, they will not rise up to end the mess.

"Nip in the bud" my ass! This problem has already grown huge stems, tubers and flowers and we are still talking about nipping in the bud? This is the time to deploy recovery measures. We are no longer just trying to stop an emerging problem because we are in soup already. What I expect now is focused intelligence and fierce action against these boko rams.

A lot of people don't realize we are at war. I hope people can begin to appreciate why so much has been allocated to security in budget 2012.

OP, you have made very good points here. In fact, the FG has been considering this plan for some time already. All it takes is to have a strong monitoring system to ensure compliance to standards. It will also help provide employment and introduce competition which will further drive down prices. I hope we implement this soon with the planned subsidy removal in focus.

On a general note, one advice I have for every lady out there is this: Never let marriage be your ultimate goal in life cos you may be disappointed. In today's world, a lady should build her life / business / career to be able to stand firmly on her own. While on that, meet people and sieve through them. Until you find the right person, don't settle for just anyone. And NO, I'm not talking about having a list of specifications the guy must meet. When you do meet "Mr. Right", everything falls into place and it becomes so easy. At that point, nothing else really matters. Even if you are 40 b4 meeting d right person. It will be about just d two of u. I don't know if I can describe this properly but I hope u get d message. Be yourself, move on but be happy.

That has always been the ultimate goal. Those behind the global islamic fundamentalist movement would like to see an islamic state created from Nigeria by taking advantage of Nigeria's inherent weaknesses. They are running out of governments to control due to USA's efforts in countries like Pakistan, etc.

It would have been nice if we could just go our separate ways. The problem is, it's not that simple. Blood must be shed and innocent people will be killed. The biggest losers will be those who will unwillingly end up under the control of these fundamentalists (if their plans succeed). These are the reasons why the 2012 security budget had to be so huge. We are at WAR!

Whether or not they are used shouldn't be the issue. We should be more concerned about:

1. The safety of the system (We do not need a "mass grave" on tracks)

2. The economics. Considering life cycle costs (ie capital cost plus maintenance costs, running costs etc), will it make more economic sense to go for it or not.

3. Does the choice fit into the short and long term plan of the system?

I believe strongly the statistics are wrong. Our minimum wage of 18k gives us about 3 to 4 dollars a day. Now, estimate the number of politicians, Federal, State and LG workers in the country. Add all the oil workers and their support staff. Add all the doctors, bankers, lawyers, engineers, etc. In the private sector businesses who earn over 50k. What about the teachers, lecturers, etc in the various private schools. The list is endless.

In fact, if you count only number of people likely to earn this amount in Lagos and Abuja you will find much more people are above this line. A bus driver who returns over 2k a day can easily make about 5 dollars daily.

I think Sanusi's statistics are coming from people's bank balances. But the reality is that not up to half of the population use those banks. Many Nigerians make huge sums of money daily but keep their money at home.

They say if you give the devil one room, he will take the whole house. That was d first mistake.
Going forward, it is time to discuss the best line of action with the husband and both should agree on how to completely shut off the guy from the family. Think about it, if the "swiss" guy loves her so much why did he not write her letters within d 12 months or propose to her b4 leaving? BTW, 1 year is enough time for a person to change completely. Just for your information (if you care). Do you know that jet engines (aero derivative turbines) can run on multiple types of fuel? I.e. They can run on natural gas as well as liquid fuels. Some aircrafts currently run on natural gas.

Why I said natural gas is the "future" is that it's a cleaner burning fuel not because it is not in use today. Ask me, I can tell u more as a professional in this business.

Mr kingoflag, when people try to teach you something u don't know, humble yourself and learn. The bone of contention is not whether kerosene can be used to fly planes. The issue is the supply chain. Whoever is accusing Sahara Energy is saying that Sahara is using the supply chain of kero designated for domestic use to meet the demand in the aviation market. That is the issue here, thus as others have pointed out, the topic of the thread is wrong and all the argument is unnecessary.

The concern about refineries is valid but the fastest and simplest way out right now is to remove the subsidies. A lot of things will fall into place just by correcting that anomaly. Besides, why postpone what we must eventually do?
