Nairaland GeneralRe: Visa Issues by efisher(m): 5:53pm On Feb 13, 2011
Yes. Even if the proposed date has expired they can still give you the visa. They will only adjust the dates to start when the visa is issued.

If you are very worried, maybe you can send a mail to their office and ask them how long the maximum processing time is.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Visa Issues by efisher(m): 5:44pm On Feb 13, 2011
The only thing you can do right now is to wait. I have been in the same situation before. You have no choice because you are at the receiving end. However, you should get a reply soon since you applied since November. They cannot hold your documents for more than a certain number of days. I am not very sure of how long but 90 days should be reasonable.
FamilyRe: My Wife Is Dating Her Boss. Pls Help Me. by efisher(m): 2:26pm On Feb 12, 2011
You didn't say how long ago the pregnancy text was sent but if she has already aborted the preg, have you thought for a moment that you could have been the father of the baby! So the boss would not only have taken your wife, he would also have facilitated the murder of your unborn child!!!  shocked shocked shocked

rhymz:
I laugh when people try to suggest what happened in june 12 as a protest. . .lol. .that was Nigerians being Nigerians. We had people rioting and destroying public properties for different reasons, in the west the Yorubas were rioting cos the government was trying to short-change Abiola the alleged winner, in the east people were protesting not neccessarily cos of Abiola but cos of their wards, family and properties being killed and destroyed in other part of nigeria and may be a percieved northern elite agenda to keep IBB in power, the Hausas wanted IBB out too but still did not spare non hausas or fulanis. How all these translated to a protest is beyond me, we had people fleeing to their real state of origins and in the end, what did we achieve? Let us not kid ourselves, Nigerians do not need to go the egyptian or Tunisian way to demand change. Those of us that actually witnessed the horrors of June 12 can attest to the fact that Nigerians will do better gradually strengthening our democratic and political institutions and changing our political mindset than for the present day Nigerians to take to the streets wreck undue havoc. In the first place what will be our main reason for such a protest? GEJ, the system of Government or corruption? What exactly for? Elections are by the corner, whoever has any protest can do that now by organising others through sensitization programmes to vote en mass for the right candidate and may be take it up from there. Pushing people to protest now will only earn them bullets from our trigger-happy police force and nothing will happen except that you will be statistics in the dailies.
I agree 100% with the part in bold font. We are already undergoing a change process and the Egyptian model may not neccessarily be the best for Nigeria. We only need to reinforce the democratic process and inject more positives into our government. Good examples of these exist in States such as Lagos and Edo States. We will get there.
FamilyRe: If Opportuned, Will U Still Marry Your Same Wife Again? by efisher(m): 11:32pm On Feb 05, 2011
@ Zayhal, I have been married for over 6 years now. I dont know why you asked but I think 6 years is enough for me to say and mean what I have said. I also know of those who have been married for more than 30 years and have the same story. I look forward to having an even better story 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 --- (as God says) years from now. We have gone through all manner of challenges together and I can tell you that it takes a great deal of understanding to come to this conclusion.  There are those that cant even stand each other after 1 month of marriage. Different strokes for different folks.

So can you tell us why you asked? cool
FamilyRe: Is Benin City A Safe Place? by efisher(m): 7:33pm On Feb 05, 2011
You can even check out these locations on google maps. Just type in the name of the hotel and search. For example, go to the link http://maps.google.co.uk then search for:

Precious Palm Royal Benin City Nigeria or
Sage Hotel Benin City Nigeria etc.

It will show you the location. You can even switch to satellite view and have fair picture of what is on ground. Pan around and see for yourself. The only limitation is that you may not see the satellite view clearly but it gives you an idea of relative position of the hotels. Notice also that hotels in GRA are closer to the airport. Enjoy!
FamilyRe: Is Benin City A Safe Place? by efisher(m): 6:56pm On Feb 05, 2011
It's not that Precious Palm Royal is so close to UNIBEN. In fact it is very quiet and big enough for all the play you desire. The downside is that it is a bit cut off from the main town compared to the others and there could be some terrible traffic in the evenings. I also dont know the current state of facilities but at a time it was one of the best. The others in GRA also have enough space but not half as much as Precious Palm Royal because it was once a Palm Plantation! I know there is a very nice environment and all at Sage. (I will start charging Sage for this advert I am doing here o. I think it's because they really made an impression on me!)

Hey, I just found this thread on Nairaland for you on this topic: Hotels in Benin City. Check it out and see what other nairalanders have posted in the past.

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-307870.0.html

I hope it helps.
FamilyRe: Is Benin City A Safe Place? by efisher(m): 6:30pm On Feb 05, 2011
Yes Precious Palm Royal Hotel is a hotel smiley . It is somewhere after UNIBEN towards Oluku. In terms of location I think it will profit you better if you stay in GRA area. There are so many you can choose from in GRA. GRA should give you better access to most things and some level of security. There is Sage, Excalibur, Constantial, etc. I have stayed at Sage and Constantial and I can tell you they offer very good services and are relatively new.I have almost become a marketer I know they usually host a good number of foreigners. I heard Excalibur is cool too. I guess you can ask someone smart to help you check them out. Im not sure of thier websites but u could google them. Anyone you choose, you can book online but pay when you get there.
FamilyRe: Is Benin City A Safe Place? by efisher(m): 9:34pm On Feb 04, 2011
Yeah trip advisor is good. Although there are some other very nice ones not listed e.g. my personal best: Sage Hotel. In any case, you can book any one you're comfortable with and when you get to Benin, change to a better one.

plappville:
WHAT DOES THE NOISE STAND FOR??
What I mean is you dont have to tell everybody about your travel plans. Keep it within a few people (as neccessary). Also, when you arrive, just be cool and be yourself. I guess you know what I'm driving at now.

Cheers

Any decision you take, just make sure you confirm who the legitimate father of the child is!
FamilyRe: Is Benin City A Safe Place? by efisher(m): 8:09pm On Feb 03, 2011
@ Poster, Benin City is OK just like anywhere else. However, I think you should exercise discretion. As someone has already said, don't make too much noise. Just do your own jeje. If you want to stay in a hotel, there are very nice ones in GRA. Benin hosts a lot of people from different parts of the world.

May God guide and protect you.
FamilyRe: Is Being A "good" Wife Enough To Keep A Man ? by efisher(m): 7:33pm On Feb 03, 2011
The answer to the question is NO!

There are so many factors that need to be at play to keep the family (not just the man). Being a good wife is a good start but the man equally has a HUGE role to play in the dynamics of marriage. Just like every relationship, both parties have a lot to contribute in order to make things work.

From experience, I believe there are three key ingredients for a succesful marriage: LOVE, UNDERSTANDING and RESOURCES. I will like to lay emphasis on understanding because it is lacking in many relationships. Understanding has to do with both parties knowing each other well enough and making efforts to reach agreements fair enough for both parties. It means there will have to be compromise, tolerance, patience and all the other virtues you can think of. Both parties need to study each other and make an effort to sustain the relationship.

I also believe (based on my personal philosophy of life) that ultimately, every marriage needs God's grace to be sustained.

Christianity EtcRe: God Did Not Create The Universe, Says Hawking by efisher(m): 6:41pm On Jan 31, 2011
Tunmi:
The responses are simply funny. Hawkins is an established man, even with his disease. These are his works. You do not have to believe them. But insulting the man, come on. Really? He's a theoretical physicist, emphasis on theory.

People once used to believe the world was flat.
People once used to believe that people of color were inferior.

It is alright to believe what you want, just do not go forcing people to accept your beliefs. Hawkins is not. I actually like the guy. He has defied all odds, overcoming neuro muscular dystrophy to become an accomplished and featured scientist.
Yeah we really dont have to insult him. There is no use.

On the other hand, the fact that he seems established doesn't make him right. There are millions of people more established than him. In this case he is completely wrong. Man has created so many things out of DELIBERATE DESIGN and nothing meaningful out of DESTRUCTION. How much more God. Before you support the man, just take a look at yourself and ask this question: AM I AN ACCIDENT? Let your heart guide you. These things are not hard to see.

FamilyRe: Married Women: Always Keep Contact With Your Family by efisher(m): 8:24pm On Jan 30, 2011
I agree with the topic. Married ladies need to keep in touch with their family. But in this age of GSM and all I doubt if this can happen to a modern day Nigerian wife.
PoliticsRe: Why Cant Diasporic Nigerians Take A Qeueu From Egyptians In The Us? by efisher(m): 8:10pm On Jan 30, 2011
IMHO, Nigerians do not need to take a Qeueu queue cue from the Egyptians at this time. We have since passed that level. We passed that level when we moved from Military rule to Civilian rule. Even if we havent reached perfection at least we have started We passed that level when so many people were killed during the IBB and Abacha riots. Let's not forget so soon. That was what led to the death of those we refer to as the heroes of democracy.

Today, we should be taking a Qeueu queue cue from countries like USA! Or if that is too far, we can start from Ghana. I do not see anything attractive in what the Egyptians are doing looking at their long history. In fact they should be learning from us.

Just do some little research about this man and discover that he is a pure LUNATIC! He's currently a vegetable yet he says something like this. It is evident from nature that every creature is a product of divine design. Which explosion can give you something so nice and organized as the creatures of the earth? Which big bang can accurately carve out the universe? Check out the symmetry portrayed in every creature, Look at the balance displayed in the universe. Who gave the beautiful look to the flowers? Who made the different designs of fishes you see? I cant even begin to talk about man (Ask the doctors). Only a FOOL will say there is no God. Judge for urself.

If na so e easy, boys for dey make peppersoup, fancy cars, blackberries and all kinds of inventions from gunpowder, C4 or TNT!
