dicksonadams: Some installers can really be frustrating & that is why I turned diy. A 450w should really yield more than 100w except u've paralleled ur installation if they're 150w panels or lower. Also, if u mix panels of different watt, CC tends to pick parameters of the lowest panel and limit production activities to protect the lowest panel thereby harvesting in that region irrespective of cloudy sky. I stand on all what previous gurus have mentioned because I had similar experience too. I the course of my diy experiments, I had four 150w panels installed in series of four instead of 2x2 or just 3 series. And on the 3rd day, it was really sunny, guess what? I heard a loud BANG! from rooftop. I never bothered to check until my harvest dropped to a shocking level. I had to audit the whole setup and discovered the last unfused panel in the series got cracked! Of course after disabling the culprit, my harvest returned. It is very true what johnkester said. The sun has moved to another limit due to earth revolution. And during an upgrade I reset my inclination approximately and got higher yields dispite the rains. By the way, I hold constant that ur cables/connectors, breakers etc are proper. If so, then tell ur location and let gurus close by do audit for you. Cheers |

babaegun: I have 300w AC Areo dry Iron I have been using since 2009 when I have not dreamt of inverter or solar. it so efficient that it melted the lower plastic casing and it's thermostat knob making me to hate using it for sometime. Last year, with the fear of recession and the need to protect my battery bank, I had to dig it out from my dusty store & insulate the casing from it's element or iron base. now I enjoy pressing cloths anytime of d day with just 300w on my 2kva/1600w inverter. I have since dumped my Siemens 2200w water iron. for those looking for inverter friendly pressing iron, check it out maybe you will find an improved version of it. 1 Like

Obascoetubi: bigbrovar: Saipro: Thanks All It has been bad trying to post here in the last few days particularly if you don't copy remarks before posting them. the inverter is Microtek 1,600w (2KVa). In addition to your views above. do you think DC Amps drawn by the inverter is same as AC Amps irrespective of the waste due to conversion? I know DC watts is not = to AC watts

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by efuro(m): 8:13pm On Jun 26, 2017 |
Hello House My inverter waste much of my precious battery power. It’s my belief that DC watt is 92% of AC watt and current stays same whether DC or AC. Can someone help with explanation why my inverter draws so much juice just to produce so little. For instance, it draws 11.60A@307W DC to produce 1.47A@247W AC to power load (of a Deep Freezer, 32” LCD + 2 Decoders, Newclime Ceiling Fan). See readings at 8.59AM this morning. For the time being, I installed DC watt meter at output of my Battery Bank and another just before my CC to read-off harvest directly. While AC watt meter to monitor my AC loads. An experienced explanation will do my nerves good. Thanks (Meanwhile, my inverter idle state is just 27.7w and has good surge allowance when fridge and freezer compressor kicks.)

GeorgeD1: I do not want comment but after thought I believe there is the need to appeal to marketers on the forum to scale down their pinned-product-prices. their is real competition out there. taking good/standard panels for instance, eg. flames 150w poly/mono PV can be bought at N27k/N30k. but here the cheapest is N35k of course marketers will use their usual bla bla bla or alaba dis alaba that to justify their superficial profits on solar products. however, some of us believe forum patronage will encourage marketers in our small community of solar to grow across length & breath of Nigeria. so the forum should be seen as a place to give rebate (if that word is appropriate here) to members and not just the usual market place. 8 Likes 1 Share |

BRIGHTSOLAR: thanks for taking up my request to solar depot submitted on this platform for current price list if you scroll back 2yrs + on this platform you see marketers/dealers rich content & pricelist options. but over the years that seems to be done off screen now. this leave some of us placing orders on konga instead of the forum. thank you so much. also I also love oga kiekie1 time lag on lists thank you too. let's make Nigeria great 2 Likes |

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by efuro(m): 5:56am On May 29, 2017 |
Feshizzy: A re-visit of picture of ur panel and from a DIY point of review of ur installation, I believe it is sufficient enough to give u the needed energy production. what I find odd is u don't have to peel off the black back of the cable. ur cable size is very ok but why peel of the insulating back? anyway, 40A Cc is thoughtful, the culprit is ur power bank. the PWM CC goes down to the level of ur ba3 & gradually rise or regulate the voltage/amps to ur ba3. unfortunately ur ba3 are not good thus you keep recording low figures which will grow worst till u replace dem. with ur present state, I advice daytime workloads & nighttime for led bulbs / phone charging only. my regards! |

DMerciful: with plenty YouTube videos I have watched both of u have valid points. in Nigeria buying sophisicated grid tied inverters in order to roll back NEPA rates on your meter is useless. So the so called grid tie inverters is just to change over to NEPA where conditions are sufficient. with technology we now have cross over factor whether transformerless or not they're becoming intelligent & more reliable. 1 Like |

Feshizzy: welcome to the forum. on ur question, it is a pity the information u provided is still scanty. u need to do more. eg. cable size, make of PWM, ba3 type/bank @ 12/24/48 etc, inverter type. it is a DIY setup etc etc. how did you size ur bank & refill it up at sunrise before complaining the ba3/inverter indicating low voltage quickly. mind you with little patience u get help soon ( b/cos u have 3 groups in the house- the DIYs like me, professionals, &marketers) the DIYs are always ready to help base on their knowledge/limit of experience. the professionals are simply tired of helping or are keeping certain basic info as trade secrets. finally, marketers are there for all with after sales advises. if you're convinced you're not getting enough from the house, pls check YouTube there u have thousands of video on various topics on solar. enter ur comments/questions, ur sure to get help. cheers! 4 Likes |
