Pls gurus in the house, ur advice is urgently needed. I noticed that my mppt cc 60ah ep solar keeps charging even when there is no sun. I feel something is wrong somewhere but can't exactly tell what could be the problem.

it happens on few occasions
don't worry!

I use fangpusun 60A MPPT I got from Oga Chris.'

initially I love it and kept wondering it is so powerful that it tracks energy from the moon and stars
@10w at 0.4 - 0.5 amps and 1-2AH over night.

but now I feel it is not worth it so I let my mppt sleeps even when "it feels" it still want to work at night.

fangpusun 60A MPPT has a program restart solutions at various point to solve this situation and put it to sleep.

if your CC has program re-set, run it in order to sweep or track MPP (in this case it will find non and sleep) OR
if you have a DC breaker in-btw you PV & CC trigger it off and later on.

worst put off / on the DC breaker btw the battery and CC | am double sure this will reboot ur CC to cancel the problem.

However I feel leaving ur CC on will not damage it unless someone has a different view-point

My regards!

Good Morning Folks,

I hope my message meets you well. Please if you paid someone else to install your solar power for you, don't ask me for advice on fixing it. We charge a fee to diagnose problems on bad installations.

If you are a DIY'er I am very happy to answer questions and offer advice.

There is a clear difference between the two. I do solar for a living and if you are willing to patrnonize someone other than me it is your right. However if you want a performance problem diagnosed it is a minimum of N7500. And if it is an unusually bad job that fee is double

am happy you did not slam the door of experience on everyone.
In fact you are truly a doctor of solar.
doctors admit, treat and get paid

bad installations always tarnish image of solar addicts and lead to lower adherents.

your decision is splendid !!!

For over a week now.
Ilorin sun has been smiling at me. My daily harvest is now 14 to 15.5kwh daily with my 4kw @250w poly panels.
2 weeks ago, I will shout if I hit 12kwh. I almost felt my panels are going down.

Saipro how far ur side?

Finally ve united my Trojans. Back to 48v set up now.
So I now discharge gently.
Since I am 100% off grid. Saving for additional 1kw to hit 5kw PV strength.
After then start saving for battery replacement.
Not sure if I would love to have a repeated flooded experience.
What about you?

You are free to always explore as chillers are cheaper than inverter compressor 1hp Aircons.. I have used Scanfrost chillers(170w max consumption & uses 20-30L water reservoir for chilling) in most of my installations and they have been working real good & Scanfrost also provides good customer service ...

Contact me for company price/discounts !!

Nice! 170w max is green better than 900w compresior system.

Hello Gurus in the house,

Please advise

Current System Configuration:
6 x 250W; 3 x 2 Series-Parallel Configuration; Vmp=30.1, Imp=8.31, Isc=8.71, Voc=36.4
CC: TS-MPPT-60; 3.5KVa 48V Inverter

Proposed new panel specification:
6 x 260W; Vmp=31.4, Imp=8.37, Isc=8.94, Voc=38.4

Proposed System Configuration (1):
3 x 4 Series-Parallel Configuration
My concern from varied online source is that old panel would negatively impact new panels and mppt would have a hard time identifying Vmp

Proposed System Configuration (2):
3 x 3 Series-Parallel Configuration; I eliminate 2 old panels and connect remaining 4 in series and parallel to new panels (3x2)
I suppose new panels would give maximum power but old panels (1000W) would be pulled down to a max of (780W) I guess.

What do you think the impact on system would be? Please advise.

Thanks

you did not specify if panels are mixed that is poly mixed with mono.

i assume you are using poly panels

please go with config 1. with ur MPPT

ur CC will probably pick the lowest values (i.e. Vmp=30.1, Imp=8.31, Isc=8.71, Voc=36.4 instead of Vmp=31.4, Imp=8.37, Isc=8.94, Voc=38.4)
at that rate you are granted of harvesting steady wattage for longer time particularly during raining season.
@48V battery bank you need all the panels.

nice effort too. grin grin grin

Here is the picture of the CC working. Couldn't get the load A, because my inverter is connected directly to the battery.
Though I watched some video on youtube which stat that the CC is just a rip-off, because it doesn't have an Inductor, and would waste energy.
Any Idea the effect it might have on the battery?
If it isn't good, I will be ok if you could suggest a CC.

Are u using hybrid inverter?
Pls love ur CC. A good CC will save u huge money eventually. left to me just ground Dat ur cc casing with d bus bar for grounding in ur setup. Don't ascribe to + or - earthing till u have funds for dc arrestor

Pls we need more contributions to this issue of limit pose by charge controller rating. In my case, I have a 12V inverter set up and a 30A Epever Tracer charger controller with 3 units of 150watt mono panels. The Max Pv input power is 390watt(12volts) 780watt(24volts) for the cc..... I was tempted to add one more panel even though the Maximum Power current is about 8.5A per panel. I wanted one more panel if 150watt for obvious reasons......bountiful harvest on days with less solar radiation grin which my supplier gave a nod to but my installer here gave me the scare that I run the xtra/over current...... Pls help me out with informed opinion. Thanks

Yes! under STC Max Pv input power is 390watt(12volts) 780watt(24volts) falls true for your CC
but will you always get those parameters harvested from your roof top?

Yes! you stand the risk of blowing up ur cc with the extra/over current
that is where you need learn from experience of gurus in the house.

for me, you can always tweak by re-configuration of your PV with installation of extra one PV having a slightly lower specs somewhere in your Series & parallel.

But observe the 145v / 30A thresholds.

The EPSOLAR Tracer 2210RN 20A is rated at 260w maximum panels. I do not understand. I need clarity.

am sure you are referring to the following specs

Specification Summary
System Voltage 12 / 24VDC
Rated Battery Current 20A
Rated Load Current 20A
Max. PV Input Voltage**
Tracer-2210RN 100VDC
Tracer-2215RN 150VDC
Max. PV Input Power
12V System 260W
24V System 520W
*Array voltage should never exceed maximum PV input voltage. Refer to the solar module

if you read further on the manual you also find

"If the solar input current exceeds the maximum rating, the array will be disconnected automatically".

what stops you from configuring your panels on hot sunny day to get the upper limit since it has auto shutdown.

let us have your test results when you can carry it out.

Avoid parallel connection if I can. Rather it's always better to go on higher voltage than current. Parallel connection no matter how well installed have a knack for not being evenly charged.

hmmmmmmmmmm Voltage (v) versus Current (amp)

lower voltage => lower heat more amps (mppt, pwm)
higher voltage => higher heat greater amps (mppt)

having battery-cable distance in view. hmmmm true talk!

i feel ur pain, batteries aren't cheap.

to my view, i believe batteries just don't die without a fight,

i believe batteries are constantly under-charged, you need to add more panels
Also work on your loads or double your present battery bank to considerably extend
