Car Talk / Re: FRSC Advocates Use Of Bicycles As Alternative Means Of Transport by Egbagirl(f): 7:44am On Dec 16, 2014
This is absolutely necessary. There is nothing wrong with promoting the use of bicycles. However, we need bicycle lanes and sanity on the roads. One step at a time - petit à petit, l'oiseau fait son nid.

Btw, Nigerians need to get over the craze to buy cars so they can show off. There's nothing wrong with having a car and a bicycle. Use your bike for short distances and your car for longer trips or bad weather etc. When your going to your owambe party, drive your BNW and when you're going to class or to visit a friend, or to the supermarket, bring out your keke.

No one cares if you Didbt date in secondary. No one will care if you don't date till 40. That's your own life.

Don't miss the point here: having a boyfriend is not a reason to get raped. The girl could have been 25 and the guy 27 and the same scenario could have played out. There is NO excuse for rape.

I'm judging the lady Sorry I'm not... She has been raped, she should live with the goddamn thing... The guy would definitely be punished as the law stipulates and the girl has been raped for being FOOLISH!!! People of the 21st generation think that MORALITY is stupid, whatever anyone gets for being PROMISCUOUS is WELL-DESERVED!!!! No one is a victim in this case pls... The girl isn't, the guy isn't!

undecided you judged her in your first post and you are passing judgement again here. By saying she deserved it, what does that imply?

Sigh. Not once did I blame you for anything. I'm just saying I dnt think your this experience is a good one to learn from. Don't get defensive my brother. Biko I can't talk too much this morning.

Smh. We have clearly not advanced much in our society if there are people who think that there are situations that cause for anybody to be raped.

You are judging the girl based on your so called "morals" yet you are lacking in the same area by condoning the rape.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying she deserved to be raped.. I'm just saying she should learn from this experience

I dunno about that. She could have still been raped without traveling across states. It coud have happened right there in her city. The problem here is really the men.

I don't think this experience is the kind of lesson teacher anyone should have to learn from.

It will probably scar the girl for life.

Now you just making sense, though I'm indifferent to dating at 16, but the chap n her parents are irresponsible folks. Not to sound like a sadist I believe she has gotten enough punishment for her stupidity. she should move on n follow the next chap to edo state n let's see if she would escape death...

Nonsense

I made sense from the beginning. You probably didn't follow my posts but it's okay.

And NEVER is rape a punishment. NEVER. And it's disappointing to hear that anyone still thinks this. She did not deserve to get raped. No one ever deserves it.

i asked because you were like "is it now a crime to like a boy and date him " I was only trying to put you in that position and your response did not correlate with what you said

Obviously I was referring to the case at hand and was responding to the "what is a 16 yr old doing with a boyfriend"

When you were 16, where you following boys to attend parties in another state, where your parent lacking and not questioning your whereabout after 6pm.............

That is a different issue entirely. Following boys to a different state is abother issue. Like I said in my response to lilimax, the level of the relationship is something else that needs to be addressed even at 16.

Am I against dating at 16? No
Am I in support of better parental involvement and control? Yes.

I will want to know if my daughter is dating a guy at 16 and be able to caution her accordingly. And I hope that I would have raised my child well enough for her to know not to go across states with her boyfriend at the age of 16.

Egbagirl you are not making sense you said this a while ago, why change words when it involves your daughter?

Ah pls did you read the part of the article that said the girl is 16? Did you not ask about my hypothetical 14 year old daughter? I believe I am making a lot of sense and very consistent with my argument.

lilmax:
now answer this... Will you allow your daughter date at the age of 14?

This is irrelevant to the topic or the issue raised. The girl in question is 16 years old.

But to answer your question: I would not allow my daughter to "date" at 14 but I will not hold it against her for liking a guy. It's about guiding her through that phase and making her understand how these things work. None of that "you dare not have a boyfriend" nonsense. It's when you do that that they go behind your back and "se iranu".

I'm not in support of the action...

But I can't see why such a young girl who should be making her books a top priority be doing with boys.

What does she know about relationships?

Did she know what she was going to offer if she gets into it?

If she knew this...I don't think she is that innocent.

Do you have any evidence to show that she didn't make her books a priority? Do you have her report card? Are you the principal or the class teacher? Did they say she failed? Why jump to conclusions?

To everyone else asking what a 16 year old is doing with a boyfriend: Biko, let the girl be. Many of you are forming holier than thou or I know book pass. At 16, you're most likely done with high school. Is it now a crime to like a guy or date him? The level of the relationship can now be analyzed separately. Let's not act like we don't catch feelings. Plus it's not impossible to be smart and be an A student while dating.

To those saying it's the couples fault for talking bsck to the police officer: since when did talking back or being rude become crime? Even if it is a crime, isn't there a procedure to follow? Why were they not arrested?

Enough with this "it's a naija thing". Must we continue to live in fear of the people that have taken an oath to protect us. Have we suffered too long to even demand some respect and justice? Smh.

I honestly wish they could get a good lawyer to defend them so the officer gets thrown into prison.

God bless you for keeping it real ma.

Lol I've been wanting to make a comment since the 3rd page but was too busy. I was really surprised when I saw those reactions. Even if you are not poor, this is an opportunity to get extra money for your pocket. Buy a pair of new shoes, a backpack, gym clothes, stationery (if youre an artist) or buy a gift for your parents.

I wonder how many opportunities people forfeit with this kind of attitude.

Why have those against the OP and the idea gone quiet all of a sudden? Now the prize money has gone up, they are considering participating? Smh

Many Nigerians are lazy and have a ridiculous sense of entitlement. A hundred dollars can go a long way, if not for you then for someone else. You don't know which person here is praying for even 5000 naira. Even if you're not in dire need of money, it won't take you more than 1 hour to come up with 250 words, which is barely half a page. We can spends hours online doing nothing productive but can't spend 2 hours tops churning out 250? We too like freebies for naija. We don't like to work but we want to spend money. Smh

What I was expecting was positive comments or suggestions on how to make the process easier and slso potential co-sponsors. Thanks to those who joined in augmenting the prize money.

Aida13:

This is where you're mistaken. Okay, so normally the 'who wore it better' theme is for two different women wearing exactly the same outfit ---- but in this case (since we're referring to traditional attire that isn't mass produced), you can say they're both wearing a similar "style" - the off-shoulder long-sleeved dress with fish-tail hem plus gele. So the OP is asking who wore this "style" better, not necessarily the dress itself or fabric used. You could even say the outfits are almost "identical" from head to toe.

The only similarity I see is that both dresses are long, funke's dress is purple and Rita's has a touch of purple as well. (The gele doesn't really count). Otherwise, they are both different.

In all the fashion magazines I have seen, "who wire is better" is as I already stated

Usually, when you do a "who wore it better", it's comparing two or more people wearing the same very similar outfit. Unless I'm blind, funke and Rita are wearing very different dresses made from different fabrics.
