Good morning foreign men What do you actually take this platform for? A database of all invitees for the nnpc interview? Hehe. I will always say this Nairaland represents a very minute fraction of the whole. So expect to read more of "a friend" |

yungmin: oga, you are just going academic now. We know there different engineering disciplines. Mine was just a summary. Some engineering staff in NNPC can be classified as support staff as well Baba my point is no assumption should be made. I'm not going academic as you put it, under engineering computer, software engineering and others were listed under engineering. So when you say engineering be specific about which of the engineering is considered by nnpc as technical otherwise we can assume all engineering disciplines are technical. PS: computer engineering guys interviewed with computer science guys under same panel. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Apply For 2019 NNPC Graduate Trainee And Experience Hire by Eggovic: 11:28am On Aug 20, 2019 |
yungmin: were geologist and engineers grouped with social sciences discipline during the interviews? So on what basis are comparing higher score?
However, in every organization, there is what is called ''core functions'' or ''core operations''. Engineering and geophysics are at the core of the NNPC operations. So, it is normal to have them give more considerations to the recruitment of technical staff. These are the core employees of the corporation. A lot of these social sciences positions are support staff. Please, this is not to spite anyone. In organizations like banks, CBN, FIRS etc, they would not employ as much engineers as they would do for social and management science discipline.
So, your complain is baseless I think we should be more specific when we say engineering here cause we have polymer and textile, telecommunications, software, computer, production, chemical, mechanical, e.t.c engineering |

EzeIgboNwaChukwu: anything wrong with it? You're first a Nigerian according to your signature but that comment doesn't reflect it. If he wants to confuse akwa Ibom, igbo, hausa and yoruba then you shouldn't have a problem with that. And besides there is Amayaya in the language so therefore he even portrays the idea of being a Nigerian first than you claim to be. You can prove me wrong though. It's fine |

Ikennablue: So would you have your child trained to become Messi or an Engineer?
Talent has led a lot of people to wealth, that's absolutely correct but in context like this, Education should come first. A lot of persons are wasting in the street today because they are hoping to become the next Micheal Jackson.
Am not against looking at other part of life but bro when it comes to bringing up kids. The relevance of formal education need not to be over emphasized. Train your child to be a happy human being and not chase after money as success. Teach him to pursue his passion/talent/gift with an open mind. True success comes from fulfilment of purpose |

When people talk automation this days, they are most of the times actually referring to IT God bless you. When automation is mentioned these days IT comes to mind first |

onandoc: I actually understand your point tho but lets be realistic, the statistical difference is huge. If 1300 jobs are going to be distributed among 9000 candidates(estimate), that is less than 15% success rate. Now out of every 100 people that interviewed, only 15 will be successful, if you compare that to the TF alertees vs non alertees, the difference is huge, not only on nairaland, check among your colleagues, friends, other online sources(twitter and d likes), If you look closely, more people are yet to receive alert. Okay |

onandoc: If APL drops before TF has been paid to everybody, then that means there might be a correlation afterall. From my observations on nairaland, non alertees are way more than the alertees which renders the AB theory useless.
So how about we take an honest poll for the statisticians to see. Nairaland is a representative sample of total applicants and some inference can be drawn.
If you have gotten TFARE alert, like this post. If you havent gotten alert, share this post.
Let's try and gather accurate stats abeg.. Guests can also sign up and pick... What if nairaland is a representative of the top percentile/best performers from the just concluded interview hence the large number of persons that haven't been paid their TF, wouldn't that make the ABT theory valid? PS: I'm not in support of any theory but I just want you to look at your proposition from another anguu |

DanXplore: FCC is usually not binding in private companies except its management adopts it as a policy but, it is usually not made known to the public. Since we were told to state our tribes for the Dangote recruitment, it is very likely that Federal Character is one of their recruitment policies. To me, Dangote is looking at recruiting experts from all states in the federation. This could be a conduit to tap some political points in future. There are also rumours in circulation that the Dangote group has a very strong federal affiliation . This right here is so true. You've been so quiet on the other thread |

number5: While you people are carrying out your survey here.. Be careful to note that over 50% of people here are westerners. Its easy to decode this if you've been on the thread for long.
The other less than 50% are largely made up of easterners, a small fraction of people from middle belt and just a few 1-3% from the core north. NL is not a good sample population if we are evaluating by states trust me on that. There are less than 6 persons on this platform from benue and nassarawa combined. (aside ghost readers) That should say alot. I've always said this before. NL is a poor sample. Westerners have the largest numbers here. That's why the very 1st day of alert (6th) was so loud because most lagisians did that day |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: My Experience As A Recruiter-chika Uwazie @chikauwazie by Eggovic: 4:24am On Aug 10, 2019 |
DaBogu: I am going to share my experience as a recruiter, hiring executive assistants for several clients. Some may not like what I have to say, but I can only speak my truth.
Do we have a major youth unemployment problem in Nigeria, yes we do. While there is a challenge of not enough positions aligned with educated youths, as a recruiter I have seen there is a portion of the youth that is not serious about employment. Almost a sense of entitlement.
Many Nigerian youths have access to data and social media. That is how people find me and apply to jobs. I would think during your idle time, you would take time and teach yourself new skills and level up. Unfortunately this is not the case for many candidates I interview.
Let's say I have 10 candidates that I want to interview. Only 5 of them will respond to my initial interview. The other 5 candidates never respond.
Out of the 5 candidates that respond to my email, only three of them will be able to demonstrate knowledge of excel and PowerPoint.
Once I meet them in person, two candidates will call me the day of the interview with one long story basically saying they can not come to the interview, and only one candidate will actually be ready to present to a candidate.
After going to this process over and over again, I have started to ask myself is it worth it? I want to help more Nigerians get jobs, but it's clear to me overall we are not serious. ver 400 resumes I have for EA positions, only 50 resumes have been presentable to clients.
Nigerian youths if there is not anything else you get out of my message, you need to level up. The Nigerian education system is not preparing you for the workforce. Start teaching yourself basic etiquette of how to apply for a job and the interview process.
Stop sending emails with no subject title or body in the email. Then you attach your resume and expecting a positive response.
Stop embellishing your resume, only to find your are not anything close to what your resume presents.
Do not put a number on a resume that will be hard for a recruiter to reach you.
And finally, if you applied to a position you should be in your inbox more than social media. I can not tell you how many times I get an email from a candidate a week later saying they are just now seeing my email. This is the cold hard truth. As much as I want to help Nigerian youths. Many of us are not prepared for employment. Let me get something straight, Is this your personal experience or chika uwazie's personal experience or dabogu=Chika uwazie? Cause I know you are based in Abuja |
