inception101:

do you kno that your brakes will not even function for few seconds wen u try to exceed the speed limit. Thus, reducing your speed back to 40/50km/hr. Honestly its adeath trap wen u have traillers plying your route

Seriously i will never put it on any of my other cars till they get their act right... Just have dis feeling that it can trigger issues with the ECU or fuel pump overtime.

I rarely drive the truck now...i will pay d fine anytime anyday dan risk my life to this guinea pig experiment.

I have it installed and I am pissed. 'oyibo way raise speedometer reach 220km/h are they fools?'.
Scenarios can occur when I would have to drive beyond 90,like forest fires and robberies. Now i'm just a sitting duck!! Speeding should be the decision/discretion of the trained driver. embarassed

I practically fell asleep twice while driving as i cldnt even get up to 90km/hr On a brand new hilux (like seriously).
I think this Law shld be reviewed!!! overtaking Tankers and Other heavy duty vehicles was quite a battle. How is one to travel frm lagos to Abuja on less than 90km/hr.. May God Help us for as soon as the highway boiz get to knw; we will all be done for.
I doubt if the FRSC clearly tot this tru or if their own vehicles have it installed.

The funny thing is they do not stop all the rickety commercial buses, danfo, tankers ànd d likes; but will rush to the road when a brand new hilux is comming simply cus my no is commercial.

somethin will definitely give!!!

FRSC has become a profit making organisation as they are quick to issue tickets n fine, This fines which i belive should be remited to coffers of the domiciled Local govment where offence was commited and not into the hands of A federal agency that is fully funded by the FG.

Generating revenue seems to be their biggest intrest just like the VIO... i clearly remember the issue of the reflective stickers(God of Israel let me leavr that for another day).

My advice to any1 is to delay the installation till the very end when a huge chunk of vehicles will have it installed or when the law is repelled.

Business / Re: PHCN Estimated Billing Is Closing Down So Many Small Bussinesses by eggy(m): 9:39am On Jul 15, 2014
@OP... The simple solution would have been to get a prepaid meter (if its available). I doubt if your post paid meter is defective what I suspect is that:

1) The DISCO lacks the required Manpower to go around town reading meters bearing in mind the recent downsizing exercise.

2) They dubiously need to balance their books..

I was Once a victim I was billed N10k monthly until I managed to get a prepaid meter and with same amount I can comfortable do 4-6months without topping up (bearing in mind the light Isn't @ all constant)

Estimated bill is truly the height of deception and thievery!!! wonder why NERC is playing ostrich with this trend.
Car Talk / Re: Advice: Toyota Car Chargers & Sound System Powered Off by eggy(m): 3:05pm On Nov 18, 2013
Its a 15amps fuse(located slightly under your stirring wheel) that needs replacement.

Luckily there's a spare fuse located under the hood as well as a white plastic to pick the fuse.

You can do it your self. U need a flash light as you will have to stoop to see the fuse panel located @ the driver side behind the mini storage compartment. Be sure to read the diagram so you pick the right fuse.

Mind you the fuse in question is not the one under the Hood.

Leopantro: don't know if I should swear or laugh.

I am a bit confused.. NERC (Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission) imposing tax on generator importation I fail to see the correlation and doubt if it has the statutory right to do so ( i stand to be corrected).

1) There is already a statutory amount payable as tax for importation ( I assume the Nigerian customs, MAN, et all are in charge of this)

2) As a regulatory commission for electricity i fail to see where generator importation falls under their jurisdiction.. I was of the opinion that their primary focus will be on generation of electricity as well as its distribution and ensuring that the right of we the final end users are protected. That is to say their sole bizness/concern should dwell on locally generated Electricity, the generation/distribution companies as well as the consumer’s right while ensuring a favourable / level playing field for all stake holders.

3) The tot of NCC imposing importation tax on mobile phones and handset importation (as heinous as it sounds) cannot even be likened to this madness

NERC should note that it was not solely established as a profit making arm for the government (we already have enof which are been mismanaged) and if profit generation is now its key preoccupation, i suggest it looks for other viable options.

now, if you fill an online form and divulge all your details, how did the thief get a Token code that matched his transaction? that is the big question

parley, you do not need a token to do a third party transfer(DIAMOND TO DIAMOND BANK) methinks the perpetrator of the scam has multiple ATM cards for the numerous acct

I feel for the Op....
Anyways i operate a diamond online account and i can categorically tell u all that you only require the token for inter bank transfer(LOG IN WITH A TOKEN) for third party transfers(diamond to diamond acct) you do not require a token(LOG IN WITHOUT A TOKEN). from the munched screen shots it appears the transfers were diamond to diamond(i stand to be corrected)hence the OPs token will not be required to clear his acct if all the transfers were third party transfers..all the same DIAMOND BANK HAS THE MORAL AND PROFESSIONAL OBLIGATION TO TRACE THE FUNDS(most likely and inside job and all beneficiaries are a single individual with multiple ATM cards)

If really he ate 49k in 2007:

1)why wasn't he told when he came to reactivate the account,

2)where did the claim that he took a Loan arise from

3)why did the claim change to atm withdrawal/teller overpaying him theory....

4) when the ATM withdrawal/teller payment issue was spotted why wasn't he contacted via phone or email that he has over withdrawn.

I do not knw the OP from Adam but I think its only fair to give him the benefit of the doubt...same goes for GTB no need for insults and verbal bashing.

@OP, this GTB's story/excuse is quite strange.

1) It was claimed you took a loan of N49,000 in 2007 and this has accrued to a sum of N221,000 in 2012

2)The initial Loan claim metamorphosized into a teller mistakenly over paying/ATM withdrawal story...

Anyways i Think you should fight this case till the very end as this goes beyond you alone.... My take is that they noticed your account was dormant and linked the misappropriated funds to your account(books must balance oh).

I have a dormant current acct with the very same branch and its clear i wont be reactivating it without valid signed and stamped printed copy of my statement.

Please see this matter to the very end as it is quite easy to loose steam while trying to pursue such.

Advantages

1)superb Air conditioning system(I never had any issue with the A/c for 3yrs and its still running)

2)Nice fuel economy (2.4l I4)..... 4k fills you up @N65 and takes me take me to work for 5days straight

3)Mine came with a transponder key and keyless entry

4)Very Reliable Engine(periodic oil change is key )

Disadvantages

1)stabilizer rods/tyrods and dampers (the legs were quite noisy guess our bad roads and my thieving mechanic were responsible)

2) Low ground clearance.

All said and done mine was quite a very faithful car still runs till date

trix!:

while I agree that many people don't take time to really know the kinda engine they have, I think this thread has more to do with police obsession with engine number, than engine type. It seems you don't live in Nigeria, so you haven't gotten a clear picture of what the OP is painting.
when you get to a police check point, they don't look at the engine type, what they look for is engine number, and woe betide you if the 5 written on your papers look like S.

parley u got it spot on......
I dont see the correlation btw knwing your engine size and engine no...I searched for that of my corrolla sport like mad even my mechanic cld not help; he had to call a friend who sells engine to come help us decipher the whole tingy..its really frustrating what our police have turn into (secialist in detecting misrepresented alpha-numeric symbols). A friend parted with 4k simple cus '1' was represented as 'I' on his papers(SMH)
I doubt if emphasis on engine no is placed in other climes like our police do here in naija...

I am impressed

I will require the factory remote for a 2005 corrolla sport... mine was sent down from texas wit jus a single key devoid of the keyless entry remote. However, the security light is visible and blinks when the doors are shut. what will it cost me to have the remote replaced.
Family / Total Lack Of Security On Mile2/berger Brigde. by eggy(m): 8:36am On Dec 30, 2012
I Went to pick my wife from work on friday(28th Dec 2012) while on the mile 2 bridge I notice that the car/driver in front of me was been harassed by area boiz and they were demanding for money or else they will damage the side mirror of the car( Hyndai elantra)..the driver quickly parted with some money and they left him (for the moment)..

I knew I will be next on their list cus

1) the traffic was @ a stand still..
2) I had 2 women with me in the car(my wife and her colleague.

I quickly told my wife that no matter what happens she must be calm and act like she was un interested in what was happening.
As expected they came over to my window..the eediat had the nerve to say 'wind down jor, oga I say wind down' I was so infuriated..they immediately grabbed my side mirror and said the will yank it off(gosh my head was boiling with rage) in disgust I looked 1 of them straight in the eye and told him to go ahead and yank it off ..I repeatedly to them to yank the bleeding mirror off(what the hell )

maybe it was.

1)The rage in my eyes
2) The fact that both my wife and her colleague where calmly chatting away as if nothing was happening

The eventually walked away frm my car and went to the car behind me the driver quickly parted with some money too.. The funny thing was they appeared to be in grps as the cars who gave out money where later accosted by other grps equally demanding money...heaven knws how many times the elantra infront of me parted with his money..@ the end of the day His mirror was left dangling by another set of Area boiz..

No other set came to my car it was obvious they had informed the others about the cars that they were successful with.

I now knw why my wife refuses to drive to work..a colleague of hers had all her windows smashed and was robbed on the same bridge..and countless no of peeps have recounted their own sad experience..

Will the Nigeria police force claim they are unaware of this trend? Jus 1 hilux load of cops is enof deterrent to this opportunistic criminals.

Or are we really that hopeless?.....

while i understand and appreciate the principle, there is a contradiction here - where are they going to get the experience and expertise from? its not as if commercial drivers are from a strata of society that has would provide their children with personal vehicles. they will have no access to cars to get driving experience - private owners and institutions are even less likely to hire people below 26 for the same reasons

this is a catch 22

the real culprit and villain in this are the FRSC themselvs, who have turned a drivers license into a piece of plastic a cripple can pay 5000 for.

the only thing you can count on the FRSC to actively enforce is a revenue driving venture like the new license plates or those ridiculous reflective stickers

Yeah. I remembered wen the brought out that dumb reflective stickers Idea...Gosh!

its really quite simple someone please have the FERMA boss slapped upside the head to remind him where he should be barking and not coming to think his name should be occupying space in the dailies. arrant fool.

OBJ introduced "Petroleum Tax" to cater for the removal of toll gates.
We were told the revenue generated will be used for Road repairs..so my question is thus...MR FERMA

1) when you re_introduce the toll gates on our highways, is there going to be a marginal reduction in the price of fuel?

2)Will the amount generated from the tolls be able to cater for Federal road repairs or will Ferma require additional funds ( cus the OBJ administration claimed the amount generated from Federal Toll was a joke)

3)At what cost will this Tolls be re constructed. (Cuz the Demolishing of the existing tolls attracted an outrageous amount).

So eating N50 naira gala while driving attracts a fine of N30k undecided
as regards articulated vehicle the reason why tankers(who rank no2 after containers on my hazard matrix)were exempted is simple cus the have the balls to stand up and hold the gov to ransom unlike the average lagosian who takes everything that is dished at them.. A city devoid of functional street lights and good roads mandates articulated vehicles to move @ night.....lets wait till trucks start running into our houses due to poor visibility before we amend the law.

BRF has missed the plot.

So my question to us all; is what is the fine for a failed state and who pays for it?
