I just came from a trip to the following state capitals:

Bauchi - Gombe - Jalingo - Yola.

These cities are as peaceful as you want to imagine. Even in Jalingo, we still had the time to go out drinking, getting back to the hotel late at night.

Last week, we were in Sokoto, Birnin Kebbi, Gusau and Katsina - these cities are as well as peaceful as you can imagine.

Dont hoodwink us with fears of Boko Haram, its not like they trail every human being with bombs all over the streets -

and for your information - we drove on the same roads you want everyone to fear.

Only lazy bones fear the unknown - if you have businesses doing in Nigeria - I guess you will want Nigeria closed down because of BH?

The reasoning faculty of some people here on NairaLand is very suspect. Extremely daft and without form.

Come on - keep quiet if you dont know what is happening. And FYI - we had no fear of BH and there was no single police officer with us.

Abeg- spare us with your tales of woe when in actual fact the only place you have ever been is your little space,

We just said the same thing in bold but in different ways. I stated that "The greed and looting will end some day, when we are all ready to stop the lootocrats in their tracks."

It cannot be left to the person at the helm of affairs alone. We all have to collectively fight against greed and curroption. Reuben Abati fell flat despite his acclaimed years of being on the side of the masses. I do no hold brief for any of them though, it's just that corruption is a cancerous disease which can only be fought as a group and not as individuals alone. My reason for support people like GMB all along 'cos I know he's got the knack to surround himself with people who are also averse to corruption.
Agreed grin

9ijaMan:
Sorry my brother I probably wasn't clear enough. Our problem is definitely not "our collective struggle to move the nation forward". What I meant was that these problems we are currently facing is a "passing phase" in our struggle to improve our nation. The greed and looting will end some day, when we are all ready to stop the lootocrats in their tracks.
Sorry but I still disagree on the problem being a "passing phase" - It will never pass away until someone at the helm of Affairs (say Jonathan) kick and fight against it head long.

In fact the problem will keep increasing and changing handlers and agents, until some fights it - I tell you it will be brutal - Its not for non-principled or faint hearts.

The problem of Jonathan is hoping it will just go away and his decision not to offend anyone even if its the right thing he is about doing.

Some of the weapons of the ruling class against any revolt from the masses include:
- Divide the people along ethic lines.
- Religious tags.
- Infiltrate the protest and sabotage it.
- Criminalize the effort
- Use of excessive brute force that many will not even dear to join
- Even may hijack the entire process.

@9ijaMan:
In as much as I believe that there "still have hope in the country", I do not believe "our collective struggle to move the nation forward" is the problem - but its our ruling elites (e.g. GEJ and his current admin) that are empowering a system of governance that is perpetually keeping Nigerians in their poor and under-developed state.

I still have hope in the country. Our problems I believe constitute a passing phase in our collective struggle to move the nation forward.
I agree with the underlined.

But I incline to disagree with the bolded. Our main problem in Nigeria is perpetual greed of the ruling elite that have resulted to furthering the interest of the ruling elites and keeping the poor at their place.

Nigerians masses are unable to fight back on the greed of the ruling class because they the ruling elites have put in place various plans that fight back the masses.

Let me tell you why Nigeria will still survive:

We do not hope for the best, but whenever the most terrible news come to us - Nigerians will just hope its not the worst.

We believe it could always be worst than this. So why kill yourself when the worst is not yet here. And this is the reason once it appreciate by 1% someone will roll out the drums.

More like a thanks you for all the backyard $$$ deals they have done for each other and hope for more.

Or just the regular case of "the highest bidder".

"Don't blame smugglers, blame the System"

Politics › Re: Don't Blame Gej, Blame The System by egift(m): 2:17am On Nov 16, 2011
Beaf:
I totally agree with you. However, these people aren't necessarily all foolish, some of them are just following a fad. How can normal people blame a President who is just starting his term for 49 years of misrule; you would think they would even be able to pick a good leader from the past, but they can't.
Atiku, Ciroma and co started the trend of abusing a sitting President and the weak minded ones amongst us got impressed.

There was a time I actually wondered if that id!otic prof that concluded that Nigeria has an average IQ of 70 was correct; but now after peering underneath the covers I can segregate the bashers into 4 easily identifiable groups:

1. Ethnic bigots
2. Religious bigots
3. Election losers (political businessmen)
4. Id!ots

Those outside of the above groups are objective, regardless of their political leaning.
Beaf get your head off Jonathan's armpit for once. Anytime your Oga roll out one of those his regular lame plans, you blame the system - how convenient!

See the way you are calling us names because we refuse to suck the fresh air from those black armpits the way you have done all day.
