transcorp may not be a bad buy afteral ,those who are buying as the price crashes now may later have the last laugh, stock business is always like this . |
One of Mr buffet's advice in those two books was to invest in stocks of companies that have the edge over others in their area of operation and also should maintain same in the foreseeable future. This was why i went for firstbank shares and also dunlop ,in the case of first bank ,i have seen that they have history of paying good dividends and as i don't plan to sell it any time soon ,i would be adding more of them shares with whatever they pay as dividends ,this strategy i learned from mr buffet also Dunlop after the exit of michelin stands to dominate tyre business in nigeria especialy truck tyres , though their shares is not doing too well now ( i bought from the floor ) the newly built ASRT project could change their profits this year. The effect of tokunbo tyres is mostly on small car tyres and not trucks ones where dunlop specializes, also with the current goverment efforts, tyre importation is likely to be banned for good in the near future. |
Hello Mr Frank , i said earlier in my post on this thread that its not all his method of investments that would work in the modern time especialy in nigeria ,but all the same i think we have lots to gain from the man method of selecting stocks . |
earley:i hear you bro . |
If you would not be in need of the money for at the least the next six months ,i would suggest that you invest it in oceanic IPOs ,it would pay u much better . |
yeah they could be illegal if they have not met all the requirements to run such establishments , but u see there are some kind of business where an honest fund manager may not be able to continue to pay at the rate that was set out from the onset cos that rate is not sustainable on the long run , this is where this kind of investments would start to hurt . why don't u ask yourself this question ; why have banks and other institutions that have lots of cash not invested in this kind of schemes ? |

some quotes about Mr Buffet ; There was a one hour interview on CNBC with Warren Buffet, the second richest man in the US who has donated $31 billion to charity. Here are some very interesting aspects of his life: 1) He bought his first share at age 11 and he now regrets that he started too late! 2) He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering newspapers. 3) He still lives in the same small 3 bedroom house in mid-town Omahathat he bought after he got married 50 years ago. He says that he has everything he needs in that house. His house does not have a wall or a fence. 4) He drives his own car everywhere and does not have a driver or security people around him. 5) He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world's largest private jet company. 6) His company, Berkshire Hathaway, owns 63 companies. He writes only one letter each year to the CEOs of these companies, giving them goals for the year. He never holds meetings or calls them on a regular basis. 7) He has given his CEO's only two rules. Rule number 1: Do not lose any of your share holder's money. Rule number 2: Do not forget rule number 1 Cool He does not socialize with the high society crowd. His past time after he gets home is to make himself some pop corn and watch television. 9) Bill Gates, the world's richest man met him for the first time only 5 years ago. Bill Gates did not think he had anything in common with Warren Buffet. So he had scheduled his meeting only for half hour. But when Gates met him, the meeting lasted for ten hours and Bill Gates became a devotee of Warren Buffet. 10) Warren Buffet does not carry a cell phone, nor has a computer on his desk. 11) His advice to young people: Stay away from credit cards and invest in yourself. |
if you have invested in HYIPS ,you wont be surprised with this developemenet |
i guess its only right that you say ur price here ,if its good we might go for it .else i would buy it from india when coming home , i don't like too much secret on things that i could easily get elsewhere . |
i have two books written about Warren Buffet ' the warren buffet way ' and ' 101 reasons to own the world greatest investments ' I think the man invests for the long term and is also very patient ,i also think that he isn't the show off type , lives modestly and don't spend when its not an absolute necessity . i think most of his pattern of investments can be applied to Nigerian investor ,but i think all could not work with just everyone, for example institutional investors some other financial managers like mutual fund managers ,may not agree with all of buffets method as they need to buy shares and gain from the capital appreciation unlike buffet who would surely not sell his shares so fast even when the price may have gone up . in summary i think young people would gain much from Mr Buffet, his simple way of living despite his riches should be a good example . |
How do you register for the CSCS service?if u have bought some shares from during POs , then you would have to contact some stock broker and give them you shares certificates and they would register your account with cscs and those shares of urs would be credited to your cscs account ,you would be then be provided a cscs account number and also clearing house number . after this you may be bale to call the automated numbers provided earlier on this thread abd be able to check you stocks , your account number would also be your pin number though u may have the option to change it during the automated call . also when u got to the cscs http://www.cscsnigeria.com/index.php you would see that there is logging section there ,now you could register and be able to check same details of your account now online , but it would cos you about 2,500 niara and they don't yet accept online payment , you would have to go to cscsc office in lagos and pay the money then you online account would be activated and you would be able to see all your stocks online . this is as much as i know about getting an account with cscs ,maybe the gurus would add more input . |
Try finding a buyer for the two stocks and you will realise which one has greater liquidity.this one na point ooooh ![]() |

my brother ,i do not know what the people want again , read the sorry story below ,the guy was even dragged into the " holy mosque " and was murdered there ,yet all you would hear is the usual " its the minority extremists " so let me ask who controls the mosque ? the extremists or the madrasas ? Ethiopian Evangelist Beaten to Death by Militant Muslims: Militant Wahabbi Islamists Drag Christian Evangelist into Mosque and Beat Him to Death Contact: Jeff King, President, International Christian Concern, 800-422-5441, icc@persecution.org WASHINGTON, Mar. 29 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Washington-DC based human rights group, International Christian Concern (ICC) has just learned that an Ethiopian evangelist named Tedase was beaten to death by militant Muslims on Monday, March 26th, as he and two young women were on a street evangelism assignment in Jimma, Ethiopia. This marks the second time in six months that Christians residing in Southeast Ethiopia have been attacked and killed by extremist (Wahabbi) Muslims. On Monday afternoon Tedase and two female coworkers were conducting street evangelism on Merkato Street in Jimma, Southern Ethiopia. Merkato Street runs by a Wahabbi Mosque. As the team was walking by the Mosque, a group of Muslims exited the Mosque and began to run after them to confront them. Tedase's female coworkers ran away from the mob but Tedase continued on. The Muslims caught up with Tedase, pulled him into the mosque, and savagely beat him to death. Sources from Jimma reported that Tedase was beaten with a calculated intention to kill him. This was no accident or case of mob frenzy getting out of control. His body was later taken to the hospital for an autopsy and he was buried Tuesday, March 27. Our sources also reveal that Jimma Christians were conducting an evangelism campaign, and news of the outreach was spreading among Jimma residents as well as militant Muslim groups in the area. The Muslims that belonged to the Wahabbi sect purposefully beat Tedase to death as a message to Christians that they are ready to combat evangelism. Aftershocks of the September 2006 Pogrom This most recent incident in Ethiopia confirms ICC's decision to include this country in its Hall of Shame list, which highlights nations where Christians are enduring the most severe persecution. It is important to note that the Muslims who attacked Tedase belonged to the Wahabbi brand of Islam, an extremist sect imported from Saudi Arabia. It is clear that the Christians in Ethiopia are feeling Saudi Arabia's influence, particularly in Jimma, a Muslim dominated area where local authorities are almost exclusively Muslim. It was only six months ago, in September of 2006, that Muslim extremists burned down a number of churches and parishes, as well as Christian homes. As many as 2,000 Christians were displaced by the attack, an attempt to intimidate Christians with the hopes of converting them to Islam. Evangelical church leaders are fearful that if police ignore Tedase's death, it will be a green light for Muslim groups in the area to attack their Christian neighbors at will and without retribution. We appeal to concerned individuals to contact the Ethiopian embassy in their own countries to ask for an investigation of Tedase's murder. |
read somewhere they have started releasing the certs ,but i cant confirm it . |

She is yoruba and if you yorubas have accepted this as your fate then thats your cup of tea,am wondering where your OPC people are these days , let them do this to igbos and onitsha reaction would be a child play,as for the so called moderates who have kept silence along with their sultan and adegbite ,we are gradually getting to know their real nature ( violence |
EFCC may not have done some things right ,but am sure like many Nigerians that they have done lots of good works ,if they are unpopular to you then u must be living in another planet . |
Thanks to everyone for the info being provided here , i have this question ; when my broker buys or sells shares on my behalf ,how long does it take for the deal to reflect on my CSCS account ? i ask this cos my brokers told me some shares have been bought for me and its almost a week ,yet when i tried to use the automated call system with cscs ,it does not confirm the shares my broker told me thats been bought for me ,when i asked about this i was told that it would show on my account after sometime ,but someone told me this is not true that it show reflect in my account at least in less than 24hrs cos the cscs works with the NSE ,so this means that any shares that is bought or sold on any given day must reflect on my cscs account on that same day ,does anyone know what who i should believe about this ? |
i live in india, so my network might be of no use to u ,anyway its orange mumbai ,i suggest you go to your network provider and they would fix the error . |
I started with cashcraft with 40,000 naira some weeks back ,even my account manager there told me that i could even start with 10,000 that the best option is to decide a certain amount that you want to invest in stocks every month and stick to it . I also think they are good in research too as they have lots of info on companies listed on the NSE . I also like the zenith securities though i have not tried them yet,one thing i saw on their site that i love is the fact thaqt you can place order for buying or selling of share online through your account from anywhere in the world, also you get instant email notification for any buying or selling of shares on your account ,this is very good feature ,but dont forget their minimum is 1 mila ![]() |
Fresh B ,419 is bad for our image , but i do not understand this crap you are saying here ,what do u mean by saying u wont post what they wrote to u in emails ? how does that help someone else from not falling into the same shit ? many emails from 419 people have been posted online and am sure the type you got have been posted somewhere too ,so i don't see the point you make by saying you are trying to help anyone by not posting such emails here ,in fact the more u try not to post such emails here ,the more i suspect your motive in the first place . |
