Health / Re: Imagine A Doctor As Nafdac Dg by eiete(f): 5:20am On Apr 18, 2009
Looks like some people have not fully read the post before replying.

reindeer:

what i dont get is, is the head of NAFDAC just a 'pharmaceutical inspector'?that sounds like what the foot soldiers of NAFDAC should be and not the head. And that section you quoted didnt say anything about the office of the DG.
it would be better to show something more explicit about the office.

i copied this from shara reporters:
The new DG Dr. Orhii who has a Doctorate Degree in Neuro-Pharmacology takes over from Mrs. Dora Akunyili who was recently appointed Minister of Information and Communications.

He has over 20 years cumulative working experience in the field of medicine in Nigeria and the United States of America.

if you ask me, i dont think he's unqualified.

there is a difference between Pharmacy and Pharmacology.

According to the by laws of NAFDAC the person has to be Pharmacist.

He is a Neuro-Pharmacologist and not a Pharmacist.

Travel / Re: Is Virgin Nigeria Fraudulent? I Cant Understand Their New Tactics by eiete(f): 7:16pm On Apr 16, 2009
It's not only VN that does it. It is done here in the UK aswell.

BA, Virgin Atlantic have similar ticketing procedures. Prices advertised online

are different from prices offered at the ticketing desk. And some of the

prices online have a set period in which you have to depart or arrive to pay

the advertised price. Online ticketing is just a way of encouraging people by luring them with

cheap prices to book and pay for their ticket online, especially for short haul flight; therefore

eliminating the middleman.

Lol! do not get too excited, instead pray that baba go-slow Yar adua appreciates and values the changes and improvements,

Soludo has made to the nigerian banking sector; to back him.

Because tomorrow, God forbid; he could wake-up after dreaming about vision 2020 and decide

to have a cabinet reshuffle and make Soludo minister of Culture just like he did with Akuyiili.

My sister! well in my parents days it is the couple getting married that foots the bill.

As a sign of curtsey the invited bridesmaid can then offer to pay some of the bill.

But now days with everybody wanting to belong, people

have forgotten how to cut their coat according to their size.

People who are AS and SS, don't they also deserve to be happy, don't they deserve to be

Why punish them for circumstances that are no fault of theirs.

Star Quest 2009 begins

Ayeni Adekunle

Very soon, the band that‘ll take the crown from 2008 Star Quest winners, Diamondz, will emerge.

That‘s because the organisers have set the ball rolling for this year‘s contest. And this year, a whopping N3.5M cash, and N7.5M recording contract are up for grab by the winning band.

Star Quest is a music talent hunt show sponsored by Nigerian Breweries. Usually, wannbes are selected from around the country, and put together in a house to slug it out; competing in musical contests that are seen in homes across the country.

Although the concept has now been adjusted to encourage live band performances, when it started in 2002, the objective was to discover solo acts. KC Presh won the debut edition.

Since its return (following a brief hiatus), other winners have emerged, including the Jewels, D‘accord and Diamondz. But, although the organisers lavish the winners with media attention, money and regular patronage, none of the recent winners have gone on to achieve career successes.

Part of the problems, according to pundits, is that most members of winning bands have prior commitments they are reluctant to let go of (school, work, etc); the bands are not configured to churn out the kind of pop music favoured by fans these days; and- expectedly- no rival beverage brand will touch any star quest talent; same way Nigeria Breweries have refused to include 2face Idibia in any of their year-long nationwide concerts because of his relationship with Guinness.

Also, it is a generally accepted fact that groups and bands are more difficult and expensive to manage.

It is expected that the organisers will look into these challenges as the 2009 edition plans to kick off.

As has now become the practice, the winning band this year will also get a mini van, and one year accommodation in Lagos. The idea, according to the organisers, is to make sure band members stay together, as they take time to bond and plot a future for their career.

But unlike previous editions, no online registration is required to participate this year. “Entry into the Star Quest is free and open to individuals between the ages of 20 and 30,” said Yusuf Ageni, NB Corporate Affairs Adviser in a statement released this week.

To qualify, applicants must possess demonstrable proficiency in at least one vital area of music: instrumentation, vocals or songwriting. 36 finalists will emerge from six zones within the country and assembled at the star fame land for one month.

Only in Naija does this happen.

I don't trust those vigilante groups or whatever they call themselves.

They have seen a great opportunity and exploited it. I petty the sheep abi na goat.

A while ago i was watching NTA International and a reporter was trying to interview the sheep.

Imagine them showing all that; so that the world can see how the nigerian police parades a
sheep as a robbery suspect.
