DAY TO DAY ACTIVITIES:
1. Run dashboards based on different metrics.
2.Two powerful tools I make use of everyday is TABLEAU and POWER BI...

This type you connect to DB not excel or regular csv.

3.Query database with advanced sql queries and spool out results.
4.Weekly report from dashboards
5.Run Interactive dashboard with plotly..

I only run ML or DL if needs arises.
6. Develope XLSForm for ODK.
7.Web scrapping.
8.Data driven test on applications

On thing about data science and analytics is that once you are there, you develop huge interest. Everything you be thinking will be data and how to make meaning of it.
Fast forward.. I applied to different firms just to see and nearly all scheduled for an interview .
Had one offer... physical presence job. 150k and I'm like commuting to island daily for that amount.... damn I had to drop it. They were like they will increase it. I'm like biko let me maintain my lane on my remote stuff. My baseline expectations was 250k or more. The main idea was merging physical and remote so I get more than 450k or more..
Snapnet called me for test. Damn it..that was my horrible experience. Passed the first stage of interview.the manager was impressed. We were only 5 dudes for this test. The test came with Practical and theory.
As a sharp guy, I have all machine learning codes to run any damn data set for any predictions. Even packaged my XGBOOST in case other predictions are low. Did all the practical and boom it came to theory. This was where I had issues. Then I knew I messed up.
That was the first time I was given a theory test throughout my interviews. Had to snap it from my head and move on. Obviously I knew I won't be called.
Fast forward... I then got an offer from upwork. Damn the work was sweet. Web scrapping. Did that for 4 month. Beautifulsoup and scrapy was helpful then.
It was while on upwork I got an offer as a data analyst through ng.ineed.com .... That app is quite helpful than LinkedIn. The salary is quite big ..............

Will update how I got that offer and how I also became a software tester too

Hello sir, I'm an R user. I currently have a number projects I worked on from statistical analysis, NLP to machine learning. Perhaps you have connects looking for interns or junior data analyst. It would help a number of us a lot. I will be a graduate by Gods grace in 2days, I would have dropped the link to my github page, but I currently need to fix a thing or two. Thanks.
Would let you know about this soon

OP please what python frameworks did you master to attain job levels?
Data science we speak libraries not framework(As in web development with django ur flask)... For data science there are many libraries. Mostly I use pandas, researchpy, plotly, scipy and statsmodel.
For predictive. That's much

Hello sir, I am an ardent follower of your thread and truly, you interest me. But there are a couple of questions that I would love you to answer pertaining to your field data science.
1. How many months did it take you to have a basic knowledge of python data science?
4 months of day and night studying. After 4 months of getting the basics. I got through krill emerenko Machine learning A to Z and before 2 months I'm done. I also watched python for data science bootcamp from Jose
2. What modules are you using for your data analysis? Pandas and what?
There are lots of modules for analysis. Pandas mostly is for explorative or descriptive analysis. We have statsmodel api for statistical analysis. There's numpy, scipy. So many libraries that I can't start mentioning
3. How did you get your first job as a data scientist?
please follow my story line. My first was through ng.Indeed.com
4. Do you think that Nigeria is harnessing the knowledge of data science properly?
Quite not sure. Data science is still pretty young in Nigeria, however such role get chucked to data analysis
5. What connection does data science has with machine learning?
As you dive deep into data science, its then you understand that both machine learning and deep learning are integral to data science. Both are predictive analysis/modeling which data science is for
6. Also what advise do you have for a python developer who might in future venture into data science?
Venturing into data science from django or flask is a breezeway. Just knowing the concepts of data is the key plus passion . Most importantly know your EXCEL well.
7. Which do you think is gaining more traction now? Python Web development or python data science?.
Data science ofcourse. Javascript has conquered web development. Reason why python is a top programming language us because of its deep application in data science
I am looking forward to an in depth explanation of the above questions. Thanks for your input.

Out of the 3,
One from from lekki asked me to analyze data as assessment of which I pythonize grin it,running pandas and Power BI on it.Had to utilize all my skills to solve the problem. This was a big edge I had over others. Some excel users will be calling theirselves data analyst but they are just far from it... before you knew it,in just a week I got a notification that "Can I resume the following week" with a net pay of 180k. Damn!... I was so so happy... first data analyst job and the best thing about it was that it was remote..No transport, just me in my house and I report to boss every Friday what I've been doing.
Had to share my story too to freetutorials.us because they were helpful with tons of tutorials I downloaded from them.
Fast forward..4 month into the job damn, I started expanding and experimenting my skills. I became more of a Business intelligence developer. Before a year, I've toured round 15 states in Nigeria all by flight....
I loved what I was doing then, but one thing about remote job is that sometimes it may make you lazy and extravagant sometimes. Its then you will be thinking of going to cinema to watch film or event centers......

Some of you trying to be data science enthusiast..go and learn EXCEL for 3 to 4wks..it will be helpful for you biko....
After 5months of intensive study and practice on those videos I felt I'm ripe to start applying for data science jobs.... but to my surprise it's like expecting ship to land in an airport.

To tell u guys the truth.. data science job in Nigeria is few... like extremely few. let no one deceive you saying it's a nice booming field..
Didn't get offer but was happy to be scheduled for 2 interviews..

Following those interviews I had to apply for data analyst role..Yes Data analyst.. Then it was easy seeing data analyst jobs....
I applied to different firms who posted their spaces.. out of 5 companies ,3 scheduled me for interview..
An advantage I had was that I use python and SQL for analysis of which most data analyst simply don't use..

I forgot to add... I did SQL too for a week.

JOURNEY TO DATA SCIENCE

Best website I visited that changed me was FREETUTORIALS.US...
Damn! I could get any course paid for free.
All I need was to get data..
I started doing free night bundle from airtel just to Download these videos. Had 4 different SIM cards for this deadly attack to download free paid videos. Had to learn pandas from head to toe...Migrated to machine learning, then deep learning...... all these while my knowledge on excel was 2%.... it was a pure embarrassment that as an aspiring data scientist I don't know excel that much...That's how I downloaded another video on excel..did the excel for a month including advanced features..

Evening guys...
Traffic was friendly today sha...

Like I said this morning, being new to programming language it was back and forth..
Took java class... damn java was deep for me.. felt it could take me years to grasp... then to c#... but the day I stumbled upon python that was it!..
It became my language. Had to drop all other language and focus on python. Took python videos for 2months despite my web dev
Then asked after learning python what next...
I started learning django. Was solid to some extent on django. I was feeling fly seeing my self as minor full stack..but it wasn't challenging to me. Searched again the application of python then stumbled upon data science and analysis..
It felt like this was what I wanted..
It took me 1 year to realize that its data science/Analytics I want.

Programming / Re: Can I Learn Programming From My Android Phone? by Ejiod(m): 7:43am On Nov 01, 2019
No!... save and get a PC...
Programming is all about practice.
Programming / Re: Chronicle Of A Data Scientist/analyst by Ejiod(m): 7:39am On Nov 01, 2019
2013 back then..I paid one mofo 15k to learn web design grin grin.... one biggest mistake I did..Then he would ask his intern to teach me..just one week I knew I've wasted my money..it was a pure crap..

Guys don't try giving anyone money for training. You can learn this programming on your own with lots of videos out there.Even me self I can't teach you!..

That's how the dude chop my 15k then with nothing gained.. Had to save, got myself a laptop of 22k. Hp6310b... With this small laptop I started teaching myself wordpress. Meanwhile I knew nothing about programming. I stumbled upon Java one day, and it was so complex.I then asked myself what's in this programming stuff.
Had to Google "Top programming languages". Then I saw Javascript ,Python and many others.
I never had anyone to teach or guide me on which to pick.I was deeply in mess trying to understand different languages.
I started with HTML and CSS..After learning this for just 3month.I got a job for a junior web developer..80k was the salary. It felt good. Me that has never earned 30k in my life was now on 80k salary...then I knew I had to learn more..

Asking me how I learn HTML and CSS in just 3months..From YouTube, a dude called Brad traversy and The new Boston were highly influential on this path..Took nights of training to learn it. I started learning Javascript but it was confusing..from ES5 to ES6, vanilla or no vanilla js.. It was just me going back and forth yet I'm a junior web developer..though I could write Javascript a bit..I migrated to Angular 2 then Angular 4...It was interesting learning Angular...

Will continue this evening.... need to start going..

Apologies all for this long wait..
Traffic here in Lagos can be mental sapping.
Like I said on the headline,I will be detailed on my journey...
Just to clear all doubt..I didn't study computer science or any computer related field..

TRANSITION PERIOD: After graduating from the university with my BSc Biochemistry...I felt I'm a big boy, I can apply to any firm and start earning big.... Damn, I was wrong...took real stress and effort to even get a teaching job paying less than 20k.....Then it was then I realized what I studied wasn't relevant to Nigeria...It was actually frustrating...I felt I could be better of.. Fast forward I went for MSc thinking I could get a lecturing job but even graduating with a Phd grade of 4.3 I was offered a job of under 50k....
It was then I knew I had to switch for good...
Mind you I always had a knack for computer but never did want to go into it..

Will continue tomorrow..need to rest guys.

No be bf dey turn fiance then husband?
If you in committed relationship it is expected that both partner should be faithful to each other!! I'm not talking about all this children relationship that they don't even know where it's heading to.That's why ladies should date men not boys!!!

if you didn't study computer science or computer engineering go and get a job.... unless you want to be a freelancer.. no one would hire a self taught programmer in Nigeria .

this is my opinion..
I really don't typically comment but
your advice is misleading. I didn't study computer science but I've been on different jobs as a python developer. Now on >400k salary.. please encourage people. All the jobs I had no one ,I mean NO ONE demanded my certificate or School I went to.
