DrinkWater10: Thank you for responding. When I do the first, it brings up a prompt telling me to copy a link to my browser. The second step opens Anaconda Navigator but when I click on Jupyter notebook it just loads but doesn't open. To avoid any complex stuff. Just go to your program files and delete it. Then reinstall a new anaconda |

JahBwoy: Ejiod my guy.. I remember us conversing via mail some 2 years back on my old moniker. I had just got my first job as an intern and didn't know where I was headed in IT. I tried web dev initially.. HTML and CSS was easy. JS was confusing . I was making progress but I did not know If I should master vanilla JS or not. Too many technologies in that space to confuse a beginner. I have always been average with numbers so I felt that limitation will come to the fore sooner or later so I was hesitant diving straight. But was very good with manipulating Excel.
Then .. boom I get my first real Job in Technical Support. I knew that was what I wanted lol. I have expanded into Cloud Computing so much now. Yes I still write codes to automate stuffs. But now it's Powershell scripts to interact with Azure. I will be resuming my third Job after this whole SARS issue is over, in a cloud focused role and salary is just over 200k. Not bad for someone with 2 years experience and almost zero certifications . I still have a thing for Data analysis wahlahi. And will later write a Microsoft Certification to certify my Excel skills. Will delve into python too as I work more with Linux and AWS.
It's all good. Any path you wanna taken just start doing something. I hope to become more established in my field so that I can draw up a thread to guide people too. Una well done Congrats bro.... This makes me happy. Congrats once again |

Kaycee54321: Big man. This thread actually inspired me a whole lot and as I earlier said, we share similar background coming from the BSc in a biological science course...
Anyway, I have a new data analyst job which I'll resume fully this November but I want to add another one, preferably remote. How did you get a remote job offer? Most coys prefer you physically come to work...
Any other person's input will also be greatly appreciated. Big congrats. Remote these days looks rare not as before.. Upwork has made a lot of changes making the chances slim. However stackoverflow seems good a bit. Once again congrats |

QueTeddy: Have been on this thread since day one and I'll like to say thanks to Ejiod for creating a wonderful thread.
So far, I started this year and am used to: Python Pandas Matplotlib Excel A bit of Power BI.
I'll drop a few analysis.
But I want to ask, I believe matplotlib and plotly are a bit boring. I prefer Bokeh but I want to ask, is visualization just visualization or it requires a particular library?
Another thing, if I learn PowerBI is it still necessary I learn Tableau? Nice keeping up with the learning path. Great feat. If I’m to advise learn both. |

Hinokami: Hi guys, this thread has been a real source of inspiration to me and because of that I am about take the biggest risk in my life so far.
I have been jobless before I got my current work so I know how the streets are but the nature of it makes me despise my job, the salary Is enough to cater for my basic needs monthly but hard to squeeze in some savings.
I have been on my current job for more than 18 months now and I started learning data analysis seriously May this year thanks to a dataquest scholarship.
I'm quite proficient with python and it's libraries but I feel I don't know much yet.. My job is hindering me from making significant progress in learning and building up my portfolio.
My main reason for this post is to ask if its going to be worth the risk quitting solely to focus on developing myself with the aim of getting a job by the end of this year or being proficient enough to get gigs. I just want to do something I love but current constraints wouldn't allow me.
Thoughts please. Whatever you are doing never quit your current place of work. Work where you are and learn. Get a new offer before quitting |

Been reading lately previous 2 pages and seeing those post my heart bleeds. Aim for creating this thread was to encourage young ones, enthusiasts and undergraduate trying to switch. Aim is to Encourage Been hearing debates about irrelevance of ML/DL and so many stuffs.. yeah it may be nascent but never useless. Let’s all encourage those in this line whether ML or analytics. Sincerely what sets you apart is your Python and ML/DL skills. As time goes on you will be hearing Full Stack Data scientist. This time around you will combine your web skills with data science. It’s very important you Learn Unlearn and Relearn.Whatever you find yourself doing do it zealously... Determination, hardwork and smartWork matters. Those on ML/DL path, keep Learning and learning. Once you are done, try Analytics. Learn and use analytic tools. Just reminder. I entered Data science by learning and doing ML/DL. Infact God & Python were what got me to where I am today. I had to immerse myself into PowerBI and Tableau by learning more. Any tool that’s linked to data I had to learn. That was the real deal. Yes Nigeria is not ripe for ML/DL but learn it. Along side ML. Learn analytics tool too because here in Nigeria Data analytics gets more opening than Data science. If you are more of freelance and looking at foreign prospect immerse yourself in ML/DL..
My 2cents: No knowledge is useless |

We have been waiting for your response on some discussions. Specifically on how Python is better than Excel Power Tools and Power BI in the work place. Python is on Champions League while PowerBI and Tableau are on Europa League. Excel is like AC Milan of Seria A For basic level analysis Excel is good. Not everyone understands python and rigorous path in becoming fully fledged in it. Python runs deep analysis than you would with other tools. But imagine your boss tells you to send list of customers to team leads, are you gonna be using Python...., or you were asked to do referencing shey you will call python or power bi to the rescue.. definitely NO.., Excel comes in. For visualization just throw EXCEL to trash can! Tableau and PowerBI are boss once it comes to visualization. Infact analysis these 2 comes ahead of Excel. To automate report sending that’s when you even call Tableau and Power BI. For me the only time I use Excel is if I’m doing XLOOKUP or after exporting from powerBi or Tableau. I only use python when I wanna do advanced analytics or machine learning. Funny enough machine learning model are now integrated to these tools. Excel is cool but if you wanna be taken serious please drown yourself in Python,Tableau/PowerBI and SQL. P.S PowerBI and Tableau are on Champions League. See teams below. SQL Python Tableau PowerBI R now is on Europa League Excel still playing Seria A |

SavageBoy: @Ejiod good afternoon, how're you doing sir?
Please I just started learning HTML&CSS using freecodecamp YouTube tutorial videos, from the comment section on their YouTube channel it seems like they tutorial video for HTML&CSS is really good so I downloaded it.It's about 11hours+(Thanks to my 3airtel sim cards)
But the issue now is that I'm finding it a bit difficult to comprend what the tutor is teaching and he is a bit fast. The tutor sound like an Indian, maybe that's the reason
But before downloading this tutorial video I was watching Bucky Robert(newboston) videos and the guy seem to be very good and understandable but I had to stop because a programmer friend or mine said his videos are outdated and lot of stuffs have changed in the HTML,CSS and JavaScript world so I had to stop.
Meanwhile he said Visual code text editor is better than Notepad++ which is what the newboston guy uses. So I'm just asking if the newboston guy tutorial videos are really outdated or maybe I could still use it I understand how you feel especially with those in Indian dudes based on their speech. See try using codacademy and try visiting Mosh on YouTube. If not just go this site and search for what you need https://freecoursesite.com/ |

BelieverDE: So true!
I've been learning Excel for 3 months now. The truth is, Excel is so broad and I get lost in it by lingering on it. I don't know whether to move to SQL or PowerBI (as suggested from the Microsoft edx Data Analyst Xseries courses)
Gurus in the house, please suggest a learning path for me to follow
After Excel, should what should I learn next. And what course would you suggest.
@Ejiod, Kirill Eremenko's course on Machine A-Z is no longer on freetutorialsus.com
Thanks all, in anticipation of your help always. Please try using YouTube for this. YouTube has tons of tutorials out there. |
