If you downloaded the link Ejiod sent, the countries were scattered randomly, some didn't have the continent, everything was a mess. Arranging it in those tables so you can work with them is called cleaning data.

Second, the formulas are all functions in Excel. Just watch a video on YouTube.

Third, interpreting data is based on intuition. When you get raw data, clean it yourself and try to make sense of everything, you will be able to get an interpretation.

Happy Sunday Bro. I hope this isn't derailing the thread. Still waiting for Boss Ejiod's Chronicles.
I intentionally posted the data because it’s dirty and once cleaned analysis can begin. Nice input. Would still write more on my diary as a data dude.

Programming / Covid 19 Data Science/analytics Challenge by Ejiod(m): 9:14am On Mar 28, 2020
Hey guys just catching up on the daily trend of covid 19, I felt this might a good opportunity for newbies and intermediates to get their hands dirty on data. Death cases keep spiking. Would wanna know if there is any insight that can be retrieved from the data....:
Underlying task is to create a dashboard either with tableau or powerBI....
Run deep analysis and plot charts with seaborn or matploltlib and plotly. If possible bokeh.
Then run a simple machine learning model on it.

for me I wanna create a running bar chart for this.

Timeline series below showed Death rate increased dramatically from the 12th of March in Italy with a relatively gentle upward curve.
However in U.S., it increased from 18th March at a very sharp upward curve showing that as time progresses, U. S. would overtake Italy in number of COVID-19 deaths.

With time, U. S. would possibly overtake Italy in number of deaths. Hoping a cure is found soon for all of us.

Modified: It's even on front page. They did so today. May we overcome this. CASES please. Not Death oh. Num of CONFIRMED CASES. Erroneously used Death instead of Cases while working with the data.

This is awesome. Can we have it on a dashboard?

Boss, I guess there are four sets of data to be gotten from the link you sent. The other download paths are broken and are repeating the first four
Will check that out by 5:30pm ..
Remote working now.

Exactly in data science/ Analytics you look data critically and ask questions to yourself

Let’s start a challenge guys.... gonna be sharing data on covid 19. So we can all analyze and predict the data.
Tools to be used:
Python/R
Pandas
Tableau,
Rapid miner
Power BI
Seaborn/plotly
Plotly
Any machine learning model based on you
Excel too....

Guys let me know your thoughts.

Boss. Sir we are still learning.
But I want to ask, you mentioned something about a pushing Machine learning codes to GitHub why? Is the machine learning algorithm the same for all data sets.
Like if a data sets was given to me by a company to predict some stuff, I will just use the normal regression then pass in the data set as the model.
Or is there anything else to it?
I did push some projects of my own to github just to show I’m there. It’s always good you push some of your private task to github because most reputable organizations may ask for your account to see what you have done. In fact some foreign firm may even ask you to login with github.
Also as per machine learning it’s you building a model and feeding your data to run predictions. It’s good you build your model well and align it with data you wanna feed. Lastly it’s not only regression model we have

Alrighty then... @Ejiod I wan to scrape a site say a hotel booking site with filtered results. The results pages are numerous with about 200 results... Any way to get data points automatically from each result in a loop or something without the need to manually do that one result at a time.
Gonna send a code snippet. BeautifulSoup was what I use..

Also any links to where I can get powerbi?
Thanks.
Download the community/public version.

First I will like to commend and appreciate what you are doing here sir. Only if more veterans can be like you sir.

I also have a similar story to yours during my uni days studying anatomy and once I realized no job for anatomist in Nigeria I started learning JS, then onto Java then Python. With Python and Django I started building stuffs then I added React but at the end of the day I knew I needed more, and during my pre NYSC period I started learning pandas, sklearn, bokeh, pytorch and per your recommendation am diving into visualization with tableau and power bi.

Currently i think I have mastered these to a good extent but I still feel like something is missing. Maybe it's the fact that I haven't really done an end-to-end analysis project due to the fact that I can't get my hands on real world data and requirements.

So my question is what are some recommended projects to get my hands dirty with. And also sir I sent you a mail request here on NL.

Thanks.

Work with dirty data.... run complex plots with plotly library. Run deep excel calcz with VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP. Plug database to run analysis.

Thank you for opening this thread. You can't imagine the hope you just gave to me. I am currently teaching myself and it's been progressive.

Please I want to ask, when you went for data analyst interview, the practical part, how was it? Do they just give you data, tell you what to analyze, give you time and leave you to it? Or they supervise what you are doing while you are doing it? And the theory part you talked about, please could you remember the nature of their questions? Is it questions relating to maths, stats or type of charts you can use?....

1st given their data to work on from home.
2nd was given their data plus theory which was executed in their office
3rd was given their data which I also did from home.

Just understand the data being thrown at you is to check whether you are capable or not and to know how you think about data. Questions on the data are always direct

Kindly update us on how you became a software tester. Pleeeeease! Sir.
Funny enough it was through YouTube channel and when I was a web developer. I started by testing different cases on a web app just to fish out bugs. It was purely functional testing. Started growing up in testing API...
My best framework was katalon studio and Selenium before I started with SoapUI and postman. Truth be told, software testing is cool when you understand the architectural design of an app and you knowing little web stuff plus little code. These days software testing pays good but you need work it out by running many iterations just to beat bugs in a system.

Some of you trying to construct a racing bar chart. Though Tableau is still working to perfect this. However you can try this site..
PowerBI is good at this though
