Programming / Net Salary For A Data Analyst Or Scientist Or Web Dev by Ejiod(m): 1:20pm On Mar 19, 2022 |
Just a piece of what I forgot to push in my previous thread on chronicles of how I transitioned to data. I understand some new comers may be asking what’s the salary range that should be quoted during an interview. So I will be using myself as an example. I would also want experienced data gurus to chip in their range. I started on 165k as net as my 1st data job. Fully remote.. then 225k then 290k to 400k Now >= 500k However these increments were due to efforts and years of experience. Inputs are welcomed. 19 Likes 2 Shares |

Good morning everyone. It’s been a long time since I commented but hope you all are doing great. Been trying to share stories of my highs and lows. 1. My highs 2. Resigning my job last year august 3. Started another job Immediately after resigning 4. Losing over 5.5 ETH …..didn’t even mention $100DOT 5. Started a new challenge on blockchain Just wondering where I can post this under a section, jobs, diary or here ? I’ve also heard some good testimonies how some have gotten jobs and internships.. I know it’s not easy but we are all gonna make it. Best regards to everyone 8 Likes 1 Share |

Tenshades:Regarding unclean data: mostly when I get data that is dirty. Mostly I check the format of each column. If something is off I will then have to use python/pandas to clean. However I make use excel sometimes in cleaning the data with wildcards. You can have trailing white spaces or punctuations that could skew your data but you need to understand the data and what it’s needed from the data before you apply those data cleaning features. 2. How do I spot errors? You can use power query editor built on powerBi but I mostly make use of pandas_profiling to check this. 3. Excel can be used for visualization but can never be as powerBi or Tableau. The latter is the king of business intelligence. 11 Likes 2 Shares |

Utonwanne:For local environment when it comes to deep computation No sir. You can always run some stuffs with the machine. However you can always run your computation on cloud. There’s Azure or AWS or google Colab . The previous(Azure) is way better. 7 Likes |
Programming / Re: Data Science Or Web Development: Which Is A Better Option For A Nigerian? by Ejiod(m): 12:25pm On Jan 08, 2022 |
I understand being mentioned here. The truth here is that decision to move in to a field can be relative. I started as a web developer because I already knew it wasn’t easy to just start a role as a data scientist or analyst then. My aim then was get funds that will keep me going. Back then it was extremely easy to land a web developer role even if it’s small JS, CSS and html compared to data role. However during those periods data analyst or science role were few with few individuals. Compare that to now. My advice will be to learn basics of web dev before moving to data role. The reason being that you have funds to survive while learning data. However if advising anyone on software, I will ask the person to narrow it down to blockchain technology because that’s the future and we are already in it. For Nigerian space, there are always software role for any newbies coming to tech compared to data. If your focus is abroad then data science/analytics is for you. Another big disadvantage with software dev is the growth prospect. You don’t partake in management decisions which someone in data has that edge. To me, data is integral but software is eating it 7 Likes 1 Share |
Career / Re: What Do You Hate Most About Working From Home? by Ejiod(m): 5:54am On Jan 04, 2022 |
Most importantly is the feeling of loneliness. Some neighbors may think you are doing fraud. Social interaction gone Mostly trying to make friends online Sincerely as there are negative parts to WFH. it saves a lot of funds compared to physical environment. Thing is that we are already migrating to virtual reality 10 Likes 1 Share |

Season greetings everyone. This Christmas is kinda boring. Had to play some video games today to the keep brain active. To cut this boring story short, I will be hosting a clubhouse session tomorrow by 6pm. You can ask me any question as I will be eager to answer all. I understand some Entusiast or new comers are confused on either taking data science/analytics against software/app development. This will be be addressed too. Forgot to mention. For anyone trying to dive deep into using Tableau but tucked with the public version that is limited. There is work around this. Currently, Tableau gives out professional versions to students for free. We all know the professional version is $850 but as a student whether masters or undergraduate you get it free. Make use of this link and fill it out. https://www.tableau.com/university-students You must use your student email! 12 Likes 6 Shares |

Never run any masters of science or Art or Engineering. Just take a professional masters.. MBA!!!!!!! or any professional masters. Or focus on professional certification 3 Likes 1 Share |
