vincent561: Seriously, in as much as people are rejoicing over the scrapping of post-UTME, I personally do not think it's a good omen. This is because JAMB as a body isn't a reliable one.
I've seen cases where very bright students end up scoring abysmal marks as JAMB scores and it tend to make me wonder what really happened!(It once happened to me).
So,finally, my point is,if you are able to achieve a very high JAMB score, why not prove it in post-UTME? IF ANYTHING SHOULD BE SCRAPPED,IT'S JAMB AND NOT POST-UTME. I love your point, there should be jamb & postutme, jamb isn't reliable at all, this year jamb has been a complete failure. Postutme is there to give chance to does cheated by jamb to prove them, I won't be surprise if someone with 200 score upto 300 or 75% in postutme |

dapsondou: There should be a body to control the multiple admission thing. Once you gain admission in one, the rest should be cancelled automatically to give others a chance. Read it in the news late last year of a young Nigerian that gained admission in 16 universities in USA. I guess they're using this same method. Your opinion is a good one but the fact is universities in Nigeria can't conduct exam for a large number of candidate, Jamb help to reduce the number. Universities will also have to upgrade their system, last year uniuyo conducted exam for people at midnight, unizik usually set only 20questions in which like 7questions won't have the right answer. The only school that usually set a quality post utme is OAU, almost all the rest are trash |
Education › Re: Understanding The Scrapping Of Post Utme by ejomsuccess(m): 8:28pm On Jun 03, 2016 |
dapsondou: JAMB should be scrapped. Scrapping post UTME is not the solution. JAMB is not a trusted body. If each school can organise their own exams on their own and a candidate can apply for as many schools as he/she wants it would be better. He/she will gain admission to one of them.
And to the op. Your excuse of travelling to write an exam, didn't the candidate know where he/she picked in the first place? one thing u people don't get is "scrapping jamb is worse than scrapping post utme", if jamb is scrap it means a particular person can write in two schools, most students will want to write in many schools, thereby increasing the population of people applying to a particular school. I won't be surprise if a school like unilorin get upto 500,000+ aspirant will apply to write their post utme. This will totally increase the amount of people that will screen out & admission processes will be disorganize as people will get multiple admission why some won't get any especially those who can only afford one post utme. In my opinion, it is better like this, just that Jamb were disorganized this year & those who face a lot of casualties in their exam won't be given any chance to prove themselves |

This could have been a good news if the exam was hitch-free, there was a lot of controversy in the exam. My opinion is Jamb should remark or reconduct another exam that won't have any controversy and then there should continue with the policy |

glimpse33: JAMB 2016 SHOULD NOT BE SCRAPPED/REMARKED...
I Have Been Reading Online Posts On Nairaland, MySchool & Some Other Blogs, And I Kept Seeing Lazy Users Screaming, Calling For The Scrapping Of Jamb 2016. I Simply Read & Laugh At These Posts.
After This Post, Richiez , olawalebabs , Fynestboi & Lalasticlala Should Stop Paying Attention To Those UnPrepared/ Dull Candidates Calling For The Scrapping Of JAMB 2016. Because, As Far As You Are Intelligent, You Must Definitely beat The Mere 180+ Cutoff Mark, Even If Your Result Was Poorly Marked.
Jamb Has Been In Existence Since 1978. And It Has Been The Only Body Screening Secondary School Leavers Before Post Utme Was Introduced In 2005.
Fast forward To 2015 When CBT Was Fully Introduced, Its Safe To Say That It Was Success. And Now 2016, And I Must Say It Is A Huge Success As Well. For All Those Screaming #RemarkJamb2016 / #ScrabJamb2016, I Am Sorry To Say You All Are Dead Heads, Empty Brain.
Before You Throw Stones At Me. I Also Wrote This Years Jamb And Scored 243, Reason Was That I Prepared 100%. I Got All My Essential Chemistry, Physics, Maths & English Text Books. Plus Downloaded The Syllabus Of Each Subject & Read It Word For Word. (That's The Criteria For Passing JAMB)
I Didn't Rely On Past Questions Like Most Of You Did. I guess That's The Reason Why Y'all Failed. Also, Most Of Y'all Spent All Your Time On Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter While The Wise Ones Was Busy Preparing.
Plus Those Of You Making Stupid Suggestions On Scrapping Jamb, Meaning Whosoever Passed WAEC Would Just Go And Sit For Post Utme. WTF WAEC Is The Most Corrupt Exam Body, As SS3 students No Longer Write WAEC By Themselves. They Now Depend On Miracle Centers.
My Advice To Those Who Scored Below 180 In This Years Jamb Exam Is: Quit Most Of Your Online Activities & LOVE Your Book. For God's Sake What Is Wrong With This Indomie Generation
You Guys Are Just Too Lazy To Read. And It Is The Lazy Ones That Are Screaming #ScrapJamb, While The Intelligent Ones (Me Inclusive) Are Already Preparing For Post Utme.
#Peace!
It isn't good to come to a conclusion like this, the fact u read well and passed doesn't mean other that failed didn't read like u, I got higher than u but seeing brilliant people that read harder than me scoring below 200 was a mess and I know there is something wrong with jamb this year |

Vanpascore: JAMB'S ADDITIONAL 40 MARKS, A BONUS OR COMPENSATION?
Hello nairalanders, especially those writing the ongoing UTME, the parents and the concerned citizens. Most of us must have seen or heard about the change that happened to the scores of those who wrote their exams on the 27th and 29th, i.e the 1st and 2nd days of the ongoing utme exam. I argued it when a friend told me that 40 marks have been added to his brother's earlier released score. Besides, what about very high scores obtained in some subjects? Imagine a candidate who had 95% in Geography! Also, here on nairaland, a screen shot showed a candidate who scored 399 over 400 in JAMB! Those who wrote UME under Salim will understand better. My questions about this additional mark are: 1. What happened to the first released result? 2. Were those who wrote after d first 2 days also given this additional mark? 3. What is the fate of those who are yet to write theirs? Will they have additional marks or deductions? 4. Can we say JAMB made mistake? If yes, it means JAMB's competency should be examined by another exam body. This is so because if mistake is to be made, should it be from evaluators? With varying marks, what level of reliability or validity can one place these scores? As an educationist, who specialized in curriculum development and evaluation, i am begining to doubt JAMB because the 40 marks added after the initial release of result were uncalled for. Some said it is bonus while to others, it is just to compensate the candidates because of what they experienced with system in the exam hall. Jamb should remark or reschedule the exam, we don't need their 40marks, it still don't match up |
