Well, it was a respected and intelligent Ijaw man by the name of Frank Opigo that suggested te name Biafra, and his logic made a lot of sense. He felt getting a name that captures the shared historical struggle of the people around that area called, ("The bight of Biafra" would be a more appropriate name... Cos the name does not belong to any specific group but rather all the group of people in that area that forged the economic prosperity long before and after the arrival of the British people.

Igbo people specifically do not care if the name of the country is called "fish", but we know that the present Nigerian arrangement will not work...

The average Igbo man genuinely wants the success of the other groups around him, because our model for prosperity thrives in the prosperity of others and it is extremely important that their neighbours do well financially and otherwise because that is the only way our business will work.... So, it is funny when people come around with false theories.

The Igbo people already know what we want and where we stand in matters of self-determination. Many have sought for an Igbo only self-determination and maybe with the Akwa/cross, because of shared bloodline and historic ties but you cannot tell the Igbo story without the Ijaws, that is why some might be selling the projects to them. Also, we know what the Nigerian government will do to that region if we leave... The Igbos are still the only other major groups keeping the North in check against the onslaught down south because the Yorubas will naturally look the other way while atrocities are committed....
