Politics'Fayose Has Promised Students 20 Marks To Vote For PDP' – Oshiomhole by Ekiti360(op): 10:43pm On Jul 06, 2018
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, on Friday accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, of resorting to panicky measures in their bid to win the governorship election on July 14.

Oshiomhole, who spoke during his maiden news briefing at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, also claimed Fayose has ordered civil servants, teachers and other categories of workers in the state to surrender their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).

He also alleged that the Governor has directed lecturers in institutions of higher learning in the state, to award free 20 marks to students who vote for his candidate.

Oshiomhole said: “I believe that the people of Ekiti State are very much aware of what the issues are. There is no better evidence of how prepared we are than the fact that the PDP is panicking.

“You must have read reports that in clear violation of the electoral act, the Governor Fayose has instructed the civil servants, principals of schools and headmasters to retrieve PVCs from civil servants because he is afraid that the civil servants and the people of Ekiti State will not vote for him and in demonstration of that, they are helping to educate the people on why they should not vote for his candidate.

“He has not paid salaries for one year despite the fact that the federal government gave him bailout which he chose to divert to other uses. So, they are panicking and while we are encouraging people to collect PVC, he is retrieving PVCs.

“We heard that they have started issuing query to workers, including teachers for refusing to surrender their PVCs. I don’t think you need any other evidence that the governor is panicking and we can’t wait to have him swept away in a free and fair election on the basis of one man, one vote, one woman, one vote.

“We all know that Fayose was rigged into office and this is no secret because the military officers involved has since confessed to the role they played as well as those involved in the dollars that were withdrawn from the NNPC. These are no secrets anymore.

“I think that Fayose thinks that the very instrument he used to come to power will be used against him. This is a party of change and so, we are not about to copy the darkest side of the PDP.”

CelebritiesHow Odunlade Adekola Became Richest Nollywood Actor Of 2018 by Ekiti360(op): 7:47am On Jul 06, 2018
Before now, Femi Adebayo and Odunlade Adekola have been the two strong pillars upholding the Yoruba movie sector of the Nigerian movie industry, the duo have over the years paid their dues as fantastic role interpreters.

For those of you who have been following these 2 great actors, you will agree with us that Odunlade Adekola and Femi Adebayo always have different things in common which has ultimately made the 2 of them the top plight in the industry.

There is no doubt in denying the fact that Femi Adebayo and Odunlade Adekola were the Messi and Ronaldo in the Yoruba movie industry and anyone that want to challenge their authority might need to work harder.

But with the look of things, it is obvious that the Abeokuta Ogun State-based thespian, Odunlade has recently shaded Femi by hijacking the number position from him lately.

Apart from playing several lead roles in most hit movies emanating from the industry, Adekola has also been dominating the industry, representing Yoruba actors in several programmes involving Nollywood home and abroad.

Before any other person will be considered for an endorsement in that sector, Odunlade becomes number one favorite, and good example of this is his Multimillion Naira deals with Telecommunication giant, Glo, Nigeria Breweries, Ogun State Government, Ekiti State Government and several others as their brand ambassador.

Another reason that made him a force to reckon with among others is the fact that, he is a King of men in Nigeria. His hilarious facial expression goes viral after being used as meme by his fans. This sometimes, attracts foreign websites to forcefully post about it.

As of the time of filing this report, Odunlade Adekola has over 1.8 million followers on Instagram, making him having edge over his male counterparts in the industry.

Above all, Africa Magic Yoruba proved us right with the numbers of his movies showing per day. If the station is showing 10 movies in a day, Adekola must surely appears in 70% if not 80% and this will automatically attract him to any brand to appoint him as its ambassador.

PoliticsHow APC Will Sweep Ekiti Election - Oshiomhole by Ekiti360(op): 8:39am On Jul 05, 2018
National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress ( APC ) , Adams Oshiomhole, yesterday explained how the party would sweep the Ekiti governorship poll .

He spoke to newsmen after a meeting with the Chairman of Ekiti Governorship Campaign Council , Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi State .

He promised that the APC would mobilise enough voters to unseat the PDP -led administration in the state .

According to him : “I have fought PDP in Edo , just relying on mobilisation and persuasion and we know how to win. We will fall back on those conventions , tools of winning election .

“Because they are not in that group , they cannot start learning new trick . So , Ekiti is as good as won . We have a candidate who is not new to governance and he has his track records .”

Oshiomhole added that the last election that brought Governor Ayodele Fayose to office was rigged .

He cited the the money collected from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation ( NNPC) , the military officers that were ruthlessly deployed , and the young officer who later made a confession that was played on national television .

He said : “Those manipulative tools will not be used this time and so , the governor will have to learn an art that he was never familiar with .

“In line with the PDP tradition , they have always spent their energy on controlling structures and producing candidates whether people like them or not. This time around , they will have to win and not to rig.”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Immigration Service ( NIS ) has announced the interception of three truckloads of illegal entrants to Ekiti .

They were intercepted at Banda village , about four kilometers from Lokoja , along Abuja / Lokoja expressway .

The Public Relations Officer of the NIS , Olasunkami Salami , said they were still profiling the illegal migrants to know where they were coming from .

A source claimed that the suspects confessed that they were heading to Ekiti to vote in the Saturday governorship poll .

Kikiotolu leant that the trucks were intercepted on Tuesday night when men of the Nigerian Naval Base stationed along the road suspected their movements.

PoliticsEkiti 2018: The Candidates, Their Campaign Promises And Electoral Prospects by Ekiti360(op): 3:19pm On Jul 04, 2018
The July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State is no doubt going to be a fierce battle. Though, political realities point to the fact that it is going to be a battle between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), other parties are also making efforts to ensure they have remarkable presence in the impending electoral battle.

The PDP backed by Governor Ayodele Fayose is determined to retain Ekiti as the continuity agenda that has become the campaign slogan of the party is being virulently pursued so that it can gain traction and acceptability among the populace.

Also, the APC is determined to abort the ruling party’s continuity agenda. APC is fielding an old horse, former governor Kayode Fayemi, and the party is determined to reclaim the seat it lost to the incumbent four years ago.

There are 35 parties vying for the governorship seat this month but many of them are just in the race on paper because they do not have any significant presence in the state and their candidates are largely unknown, though a few of the unknown parties suddenly came to life with the emergence of their flagbearers who had been key players in politics.

In the past few weeks, some of these candidates have been moving across the length and breadth of the state canvassing for votes and making promises to the Ekiti electorate. Here are 10 of those candidates:

Kola Olusola (PDP)

The PDP is fielding Prof. Kola Olusola, a 50-year old academic and current deputy governor of the state, as its candidate. Olusola graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife in 1990 with Bachelor’s Degree in Building Technology. He was retained in the university where he served until his appointment as the state’s number two man. He is a Professor of Building Technology.

Olusola never held any political office until his current position as deputy governor. Though, he may have little knowledge of the dynamism of Ekiti politics, being backed by Fayose, a two-term governor and experienced politician, is an impetus for the realisation of his governorship ambition.

Olusola has traversed many towns and villages in the state seeking the votes of Ekiti electorate. His campaign promises are anchored on the continuation of the 6-cardinal programmes of his principal. They are: qualitative education, infrastructural development, health services, stomach infrastructure, human capital development and women development.

In actual fact, Olusola has many things going for him in this campaign. One, Fayose is a grassroots person and the PDP candidate has been savouring this and relying on it to win this election. Two, his achievements in the Ministry of Education he superintends over are lubricants for his campaign. The state came first consecutively in NECO examinations in 2016 and 2017 under Olusola’s watch. Giving him the latitude to be in charge of education has brought him closer to the teachers in all the public and private schools across the state. He may use this as a weapon to outwit his man challenger, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, because teachers are known to be firm and operate in a cult-like manner when it comes to election. Many still believe that the frosty relationship between Fayemi and the teachers largely accounted for his failure in 2014, while seeking reelection.

Getting funding for his campaign may also not be a problem because PDP is the ruling party in the state and many PDP controlled states, particularly in the oil rich Niger Delta are interested in Ekiti election. Apart from this, the PDP kick-started its continuity agenda campaign two years ago when Fayose celebrated his two years in office. This enabled Fayose to build strong ties with teachers, market men and women, motorcycle riders, artisans, driver unions, civil servants among others. Those ties are being activated for Olusola’s election.

Added to these is that Olusola hails from Ikere Ekiti in Ekiti South senatorial district. Ikere is the second largest town in the state and it falls within a district that has never produced the governor since 1999. This sentiment has percolated deeply into the psyche of the people and it may help the PDP candidate.

Kayode Fayemi (APC)

Dr. Kayode Fayemi, an old horse and former governor of the state, is the candidate of the APC. Fayemi attended the prestigious Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti before he proceeded to the University of Lagos, Akoka where he bagged Bachelor’s Degree in History in 1984. The former minister of Mines and Steel Development got his PhD in War Studies from the Kings College, University of London in 1994. He was the governor of the State between October 16, 2010 and October 16, 2014. He sought reelection and lost to Governor Fayose. He was later appointed in 2015 by President Muhammadu Buhari as a minister in the Federal Executive Council.

During his first term, Fayemi was able to impact positively on Ekiti through his 8-point Agenda. It was through this that he initiated projects in all the 133 towns and villages in the state.

These achievements have been adding value to his campaign because he has an average of three projects in each town to point at during his campaign visits.

Fayemi has promised to stick with the 8-point agenda he instituted during his first term. These are: good governance, human capital development, infrastructure, tourism development, qualitative education, good healthcare delivery and commercial agriculture. The former governor did well in the execution of his manifesto and that is why he has been confident that he would win based on his past records.

Fayemi also enjoys the backing of the presidency. Fayose has been identified as the main opposition to President Buhari. He has issued many scathing statements against the president on various government policies. This may be the right time to pay back the governor in his own coin. The fact that the federal might will be readily available has emboldened APC members in the state.

The former governor is also enjoying the supports of other 32 aspirants that jostled for the governorship ticket with him. None of them has decamped to the PDP unlike the gale of defections that has hit the ruling party in the state. Top politicians like former governors Niyi Adebayo and Segun Oni, Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Senator Gbenga Aluko, Hon. Bamidele Faparusi, Hon. Femi Bamisile, Mr. Diran Adesua, former minister Adedayo Adeyeye, and others are supporting Fayemi. These are politicians that call the shots and this is a boost to the former minister’s chances in a way.

Sikiru Lawal (LP)

Dr. Sikiru Lawal, a former deputy governor, is the candidate of the Labour Party, widely perceived as the third force in this election. Lawal was the deputy governor to former governor Oni. He defected from PDP to LP due to irreconcilable differences with Fayose. Lawal, an indigene of Ado Ekiti, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography Education from the University of Ibadan. He got his PhD in Educational Management from the University of Ilorin.

The former deputy governor is a well loved politician in the state. In fact, his emergence as Oni’s running mate contributed immensely to their victory in the 2007 governorship election that was later nullified by the Appeal Court which returned Fayemi as validly elected governor.

Lawal has a simple approach to life and he has so many things working positively for him as he goes ahead having his eyes fixed on the governorship seat. Lawal has encapsulated his manifesto in the acronym; AWEH – Agriculture, Wealth Creation, Economic Rebirth and Robust Health.

Under this agenda, Lawal promised to adopt a model that would make Ekiti the food basket of the nation by promoting commercial agriculture that will attract the youths into farming. He said he would create wealth by way of promoting local contractors, artisans and market women to be able to synergise with government in the area of business. The former deputy governor promised to attract foreign investors to tap into many untapped resources in the state to shore up the IGR and stop the sole reliance on federal allocation for survival.

Lawal has many advantages working for him. One of them is that he is a Muslim and the adherents of this religion are determined to produce the governor, a feat they have never achieved. He also hails from Ado Ekiti, the largest town where over 40 percent of the voters are domiciled. These are factors that can be deployed to upset both the PDP and APC in this election.

Again, there is this widespread belief that both the APC and PDP have tasted power and have disappointed Ekiti people. It is believed that

time has come for the people to test another platform and see whether the state will be better governed. Those who share the view are holding to it tenaciously and they are making efforts to convince voters.

Lawal is also counting on sympathy votes from the civil servants across the state being a former teacher and director of Planning in the State Ministry of Education.

Bisi Omoyeni (MPN)

Mr. Bisi Omoyeni, a former deputy governor, is the candidate of Mega Party of Nigeria. Though, this party has very weak and with little presence in Ekiti in terms of membership, the mere fact that it has adopted a former deputy governor and a renowned banker as its candidate has improved the party’s popularity.

Omoyeni was a deputy governor to Fayose in his first term, the position he held for three months before resigning to assume leadership in WEMA Bank as the Group Managing Director of the financial institution. Omoyeni is a first class graduate of Insurance from the University of Lagos. He had always been a banker until he had a stint as a deputy governor in 2005.

Omoyeni hails from Ikere Ekiti, the second largest town in the state. He is well accepted by Ikere people, because he was said to have facilitated various opportunities for the youths in terms of employments while in the banking sector. Because of his down-to-earth nature, he is acceptable to the grassroots and the elite across the state.

Being from Ikere Ekiti is an added advantage in this election because the town has the capacity to produce swing votes that can upset any party. The town was said to have appealed to Fayose to field him in the PDP, but because of his preference for Olusola, also an indigene of the town, the appeal was rebuffed by the governor. This underscored his acceptability in his home base. Also, Omoyeni’s mother hails from Ado Ekiti and those who believe in family ties and affinity may want to give him votes.

Omoyeni, being a former banker CEO, has links with moneybags in the society and funding his campaign may not constitute an impediment as being experienced in some weak parties.

Dare Bejide (PPN)

Amb. Dare Bejide, a former Secretary to the State Government, is the candidate of Peoples Party of Nigeria. A former Nigerian envoy to Canada, Bejide is the pioneer secretary of the PDP in Ekiti. A lawyer by training, Bejide is a grassroots politician with wide networks across parties in Ekiti.

He graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife in 1986 with LLB in Law. Being a lawyer and homegrown person, he understands the dynamism of Ekiti politics. Though, his party is not popular in the state, his personality could pose problems for the APC and PDP in this coming election.

His manifesto is being anchored on youth employments, social security for the elderly, reduced tuition fees in state owned higher institutions and free education at both primary and secondary cadres, tourism development, commercial agriculture, and transformed civil service.

Bejide said Ekiti being a predominantly civil service state needs a reformed and energised civil service. He said he would make the civil service the engine room of the government, so that productivity can improve in the public sector. He is of the view that once the civil service can be productive and alive to its responsibility that other sectors will be reinvigorated to be able to deliver.

The former ambassador hails from Ilawe in Ekiti South. The fact that the people of the South are resolute to produce the governor may help Bejide in this election. He is popular in Ekiti Southwest council, his immediate constituency, and winning in that council may be easy for him. He also has sympathisers across other big parties like APC, PDP and MPN. He worked closely with former Governor Oni as SSG, so loyalists of Oni may work for him secretly in this election.

Akin Ayegbusi (SDP)

Mr. Akin Ayegbusi is the candidate of the Social Democratic Party. Largely unknown in Ekiti politics until he got the ticket, Ayegbusi clinched the ticket after defeating heavyweights like Dare Bejide and other contending forces. He is one of the youngest of the 35 candidates that were screened by INEC for this election. He hails from Ikole Ekiti in Ikole local government area of Ekiti State. He worked in the banking sector for many years before veering into politics.

Ayegbusi has been working tirelessly to prove a point in this election. He doesn’t want to look like a minnow or callow by the outcome of the poll, hence his resort to serious campaign to be able to outdo the big parties. He said that he threw his hat into the political ring to help liberate the people from poverty and untold hardship occasioned by the misrule of the APC and the PDP administrations.

He has been flaunting the credentials of the late Chief Moshood Abiola to campaign to the people. He promised not to deviate or renege from the manifesto Abiola deployed to win the 1993 presidential poll if elected governor. He also promised to make education free up to secondary school while that of university, polytechnics and colleges would be made affordable for the poor. He promised to set up scholarship scheme and encourage philanthropic gesture to fund education.

Ayegbusi pledged that his administration shall deploy energies to develop tourism, economic, infrastructure and human capital development via youth employments if given the opportunity to serve.

The best favour Ayegbusi has been savouring has been that he enjoys enormous acceptability among the youths. Going by the configuration of Ekiti voter register, youths constitutes over 43 per cent of voters. The SDP candidate can get it right if the youths decide to throw their weights behind him.

Tosin Ajibare (ID)

Mr. Tosin Ajibare is the candidate of Independent Democrat. The youngest candidate in this election, Ajibare hails from Ikere Ekiti in Ikere Local Government Area of the state.

A graduate of Business Administration of  Ekiti State University,  everywhere he visited, Ajibare has been explicit that he was contesting to save the youths from hopelessness. Noting that the youths have been so much subdued in the country, particularly in Ekiti. Ajibare is of the opinion that efforts must be made to salvage them from slavery and for them to regain their political freedom.

His campaign is anchored on: free tuition fees at primary and secondary levels of education,  affordable tuition in all state owned tertiary institutions and youth employment. He has been lamenting that the state has the highest incidences of youth unemployment in the country and that such must be fought to make Ekiti great again.

Being a former students’ leader, Ajibare has been making good exploits among the students of Ekiti State University, College of Education, Ikere Ekiti and College of Health Sciences in Ijero Ekiti. His campaign has been gaining grounds among the students’ population.

Segun Adewale (ADP)

Mr. Segun Adewale, a former acting chairman of the PDP in Lagos State, is the candidate of Action Democratic Party. Adewale, who hails from Ipoti Ekiti in Ijero local government area of Ekiti State, attended Lagos State University. He contested for senatorial ticket in Lagos West on the platform of PDP but lost. In actual fact, Adewale is not a household name in Ekiti politics but his campaign has been thorough and the adoption of a slogan coined from OSA, an abbreviate of his name to ‘Osaprapra’ has made him more popular among the masses. He is a businessman with interests in aviation, oil and gas and financial sectors. The policy thrust of his manifesto is anchored around improved health, employment generation, human capital development and diversification of economy.

The main advantage he enjoys is the fact that he has a very deep purse and has constantly been distributing phone sets, plasma television and other home accessories to people. His wealth has really been a boost to his campaign that is gradually gaining velocity on daily basis.

Added to his deep purse is the fact that he is a youth and the bulk of his followers are youths, who are passionate to make things happen for him.

Tunde Afe (ANRP)

Reverend Tunde Afe , General Overseer of House of Faith Christian Centre, Ado Ekiti, is the candidate of the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party. Afe, a popular and well-respected man of God, is a motivational speaker that has gained statewide respect and reputation. He graduated from the University of Ilorin with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He hails from Itapaji in Ikole Local Government of Ekiti North Senatorial district. He has a fairly big church in Ado Ekiti with large number of followers. His followers are the engine room of his campaign and they have been going around spreading the gospel that people must embrace change in the upcoming poll.

Afe said he decided to join the ANRP because of its special interest in the youths. The thrust of his campaign manifesto are: improved agriculture, value reorientation, economic renaissance, employment generation, sports and youth development as well as human capital development. His eloquence and power of conviction have also helped his campaign. He talked powerfully with confidence which makes people believe that he has capacity to deliver if given the opportunity.

Abiodun Aluko (AP)

Mr. Abiodun Aluko, a former deputy governor, is the candidate of the Accord Party. He was deputy to Governor Fayose in his first term, where he served for one and half years before he was impeached over disagreement with his principal in 2005. His impeachment was later reversed by the subsequent Assembly.

He graduated from the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology. He later attended the Federal College of Surveying, Oyo Town with Post graduate Diploma in Surveying. He has been practicing surveying and geo informatics since he graduated from the school.

Aluko , who hails from Ikere, second largest town in Ekiti, is not only a surveyor but a successful one. He is well loved by Ekiti people because of his brilliance and humility. He is elderly and respected for his integrity in private and public services.

Aluko wishes to make great impacts in the areas of agriculture, employment generation, sports development, rural and urban renewal programme, solid mineral exploitation, economic rebirth, and healthcare delivery among others.

The fact that he is from Ikere Ekiti, popular, well loved, and has a fairly deep purse are added advantages to be able to make remarkable presence in this election.

CelebritiesMimi Orjiekwe Regrets Being An Actress, Says There Is No Money In Acting by Ekiti360(op): 7:25am On Jun 24, 2018
Nollywood actress Mimi Orjiekwe seems to be regretting her decision to settle for acting as a career.

In a recent encounter with The Entertainer, the actress said:

“I still have a lot to do as an actor and woman, though I am enjoying my life. If I had known better, I would have probably pursued a career in the oil and gas sector. I love acting but there is no money in it as much as in the oil sector. I have a lot of expenses; I have a baby, do charity, like to look good and have a family to support. For you to be able to do all these, you need to make a lot of money. Unfortunately, acting cannot give you much money.”

PoliticsGovernor Fayose, HOS, NLC, Disagree Over Employment Form Distribution by Ekiti360(op): 8:29am On Jun 23, 2018
The Ekiti State Head of Service , Dr. Olugbenga Faseluka, State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Comrade Ade Adesanmi have disagreed with the State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose over the application form being distributed to Ekiti indigenes who are mostly members of People's Democratic Party.

The disagreement came against the backdrop of the dismissal of three senior civil servants on the order of the governor. The dismissed officers who were said to have opposed the politicisation of the promotion exercise currently going on in the state civil service, were sacked without following civil service rules.

Sources also hinted that Ekiti State Civil Service Commission was also faulted for asking workers to sing the PDP governorship candidate's gingles at the ongoing promotion interviews. A move which majority of the interviewed workers described as "strange and disturbing."

It would be recalled that barely a month to the July 14 election, application forms were curiously made available by Governor Ayo Fayose to employ 2000 people into the civil service. Curiously, rather than allowing the civil service commission, the statutory institution that is constitutionally empowered to recruit workers, to take charge, the governor has turned it to a political stunt. A move which a source said Dr Faseluka described as unprocedural and an abuse of popular best practices in the civil service rules.

According to him, "It was not in tandem with the Civil Service rules and the process is against the popular best practices."
Dr. Faseluka also said that the request for the Permanent Voter's Card (PVC) of applicants was not in conformity with any extant civil service rules.

The governor was said to have vehemently disagreed with the Head of Service over his unsolicited advice and had made up his mind to go ahead with the exercise despite some oppositions. An inside source told News Alert that Faseluka has been issued a query for his alleged disloyalty to the governor.

However, a source quoted Faseluka as saying that except the governor wanted to aggravate the already bad situations, there was no way 2000 people could be added to the present workforce without following the due process.

In a separate interview with journalists in Ado Ekiti, the NLC Chairman, Comrade Ade Adesanmi said it was totally impossible for Mr. Governor to engage such a number of people when he was still owing workers between six and eight months salaries." He urged the governor not to play politics with the lives of innocent people who were desirous of being gainfully employed into the state civil service system. "You don't play politics with such sensitive issue. Mr. Governor should work his plan out very carefully by going through the normal best practices of engagement."

Adesanmi wondered why the governor would want to add more burden to the state civil service when he's yet to pay regularly those currently in the service.

"He is also owing pensioners, owing teachers, owing local government workers. Mr. Governor should think deeply about this move, it is more of politics than we may think."

Politics2018 Budget: Fayose Attacks Buhari For Blaming National Assembly by Ekiti360(op): 6:17pm On Jun 21, 2018
The Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari should be ashamed that he signed the 2018 budget in June, instead of blaming the National Assembly for performing its constitutional duties.

This was as he wondered that, “The previous budgets that he agreed with the National Assembly, what did he do with them? Where are the impacts of 2016 and 2017 budgets?”

The governor described those presenting the President as the only one who is right and knowledgeable about national issues, as his greatest enemies.

He said; “In the mindset of President Buhari and his men, all Nigerians are wrong except him. That is the reason he feigned ignorance to the fact that the law did not say that the legislative arm of government must pass the budget as presented by the executive.”

In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Thursday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Fayose said, “President Buhari has become what can be termed as blame specialist who will always blame his failure on other people.

“As a military Head of State, he blamed former President Shehu Shagari’s government. Since he assumed office, he has been blaming his predecessor. And now that he can’t get ordinary budget passed by the National Assembly for over six months, he is blaming the legislative arm. When is he going to be man enough to stop his blame game?”

The governor reminded the President of the 2016 ruling of Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja in which he declared that the National Assembly has the power to add, reduce, and review the budget, pointing out that the judge said categorically that the National Assembly can increase, or review upward, budget estimates laid before it by the executive.

“Trying to use the National Assembly as scape goat for his failure is a disservice to the principle of separation of powers, checks and balances,” he said.

While calling on the President to govern the country and stop blaming others for his inadequacies, Fayose asked; “The budgets that the National passed in 2016 and 2017, what did he do with them? What impact did the budgets make on the lives of Nigerians?

“Why can’t the President just go ahead and implement what the National Assembly appropriated and present supplementary budget later instead of trying to label the legislative arm as the reasons for his government’s failure?”

The governor said Nigerians were tired of President Buhari’s repetitive speeches and unfulfilled promises, adding that, “The masses want the president to create jobs and make life more abundant for them.

“As at today, everything is wrong with Nigeria under President Buhari. The country is not secured as armed bandits and killer herdsmen have taken over everywhere. Nigerians are no longer free to move even within a State not to talk of from one State to another.

“Therefore, he should stop the blame game and get serious with governance so that Nigerians can at least attach one major achievement to his tenure as President.”

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has warned members of the public to be wary of misleading vacancy announcements claiming it was recruiting.

In a statement on Thursday by Major Musa Yahaya, the NDA appealed to Nigerians not to fall victims to fraudsters.

He said: “The attention of the Nigerian Defence Academy has been drawn to the activities of some scammers and admission racketeers on Face book and other social media sites impersonating the Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy and thereby defrauding potential cadets and their parents of their hard earned money.

“The fake Facebook accounts and social media sites / syndicate calls for people who are interested in admission into 70 Regular Course and 77 RRI to call a certain phone number or pay money into some account numbers.

“We wish to state unequivocally that such Face book posts and social media sites are all the handiwork of fraudsters and DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE NIGERIAN DEFENCE ACADEMY. It is the concorted work of fraudters and we therefore warn all law abiding Nigerians not to have any dealings with this syndicate as doing so will be at their own peril.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Major General Adeniyi Oyebade is a seasoned senior officer of the Nigerian Armed Forces who has had a long, meritorious and illustrious service to the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

“Entry into the Nigerian Defence Academy is only possible through a transparent and rigorous process which starts from acquiring the NDA forms online, writing JAMB, writing NDA admission examination, from which successful candidates will be invited to a 2 week intensive physical, mental and intellectual interview process which is structured to ensure an unbiased and level ground for all candidates.

“Only those who emerge successful from this process will be invited for training at the Academy. Information on the NDA can also be checked on www.nda.edu.ng

“Again, we call on all law abiding Nigerians to resist the temptations of having any dealings with these fraudsters and authors of these fake Facebook accounts and social media sites or any social media accounts or person/ persons that offer easy admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy. Doing so will be at your own peril and loss.”

Sports2018 World Cup: Sergio Ramos Hits Back At Diego Maradona by Ekiti360(op): 3:32pm On Jun 21, 2018
Spain’s captain, Sergio Ramos has hit back at Argentina legend, Diego Maradona after the football king opined that Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin, was better than the Real Madrid captain.

Reacting to Maradona’s opinion, Ramos said that Barcelona skipper, Lionel Messi is also by far the best in Argentine footballer in history.

Maradona had earlier this week, claimed that the Real Madrid captain was not as good as his Atletico Madrid rival ,Diego Godin.

But asked about the Argentine’s comments after Spain’s 1-0 victory over Iran on Wednesday evening, Ramos hit back at the 57-year-old, saying that he was a long way behind Messi’s current ability.

He told reporters, “In Argentina they know that Maradona is light years away from the best Argentine player in history, which for me is Lionel Messi.”

Ramos led Spain to secure their first victory at this year’s World Cup following Diego Costa’s second-half strike, but a defensive Iran were making life difficult for the former world champions.

Speaking on the win against Iran, Real Madrid’s right-back, Dani Carvajal said, “The team sits back and that is a tactical strategy that is part of the game.

“But the injuries are simulated. This is not football, it is disloyal, but everyone there with their conscience.”

PoliticsOsinbajo Returns To Ekiti, Apologises To Monarchs For Not Paying Homage by Ekiti360(op): 11:00am On Jun 21, 2018
Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday begged Ekiti traditional rulers for not visiting them before he attended All Progressives Congress (APC) rally for governorship candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

Protocol demands that top government functionaries including the President, Vice President, Governors, Ministers and diplomats pay homage to the paramount ruler of federating states whenever they visit.

But Osinbajo skipped this on Tuesday, a development that attracted condemnation from the indigenes of the state and even the monarchs.

“The monarchs didn’t find it funny. That the VP came into town went straight to the APC rally without greeting them as protocol dictates was – to them – an insult”, a source close to the council of traditional rulers told the Press.

Apparently to correct the error, Osinbajo who left for Abuja after the campaign gathering on Tuesday, went back to Ekiti on Wednesday.

This time, the major agenda was to pay homage to the monarchs.

The Vice President, who headed straight to the palace of the Ewi of Ado, Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe, from Akure airport, apologised for his inability to pay homage to the monarchs on Tuesday.

He blamed an ‘emergency assignment in Abuja’ for the situation.

However, he urged traditional rulers in the state to ensure unity among people of various ethnic groups residing in their domains.

Osinbajo said working for unity in their various localities would assist the Federal Government to maintain peace in Ekiti and other parts of the country.

Osinbajo was accompanied on the visit by Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, Dr Kayode Fayemi, his running mate, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, and senior party leaders and campaign officials, appealed to monarchs to support Fayemi.

He also urged them to also collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure a peaceful conduct of the poll on July 14.

Responding, the Chairman of Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers and Oloye of Oye-Ekiti, Oba Oluwole Ademolaju, said monarchs would always support the government in executing policies that will make life easier for the masses.

Oba Ademolaju lauded the Buhari administration for various achievements recorded in office.

Reacting, campaign organization of Ekiti Deputy Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola described Osinbajo’s visit as “an afterthought and a damage control that can never redeem the image of the APC and Fayemi, as someone who do not have regard for the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe and the entire traditional rulers in the State.”

A statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity, Lere Olayinka, said “unlike the APC, we in the PDP will continue to hold our traditional institution in very high esteem.”

Olayinka added; “It is insulting for the APC and Fayemi to have disrespected our Obas openly yesterday, and now come back to secretly apologise to them today.

“We are also surprised that the Vice President could allow Fayemi to dissuade him from paying homage to the traditional rulers.

“Most importantly, it is unexplainable for the Vice President to have wasted public fund to come to Ado Ekiti twice within 24 hours just because Fayemi never regarded Obas in the State as worthy of being paid homage to.

“However, like we said yesterday; “We were not surprised that Fayemi made his guests, especially the Vice President to shun the palace of Ewi of Ado Ekiti, because he cannot point to any major landmark achievement of his four years reign as governor. For four years, Fayemi promised to complete the Amphitheatre in the palace of Ewi, he never did.

“The hall where Fayemi and his guests would have been received and the amphitheatre where his supporters would have seated were built by the PDP government of Governor Ayodele Fayose.”

PoliticsPatience Jonathan Must Tell Nigerians How She Built N10b Worth Hotel – CACOL by Ekiti360(op): 10:15pm On Jun 20, 2018
The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, CACOL, has called on former First Lady, Patience Jonathan to come clean on the issue of her alleged corrupt enrichment.

CACOL made the call while lambasting a group of Niger Delta women who staged a solidarity march for Patience in Port-Harcourt yesterday.

The march involved hundreds of women in the state, who marched to the Rivers State Government house and was led by one Mrs Eunice Igwe over what they referred to as constant harassment of the former first lady.

In a press release signed and forwarded to DAILY POST by CACOL’s Executive Chairman, Debo Adeniran, the group insisted that the former First Lady must tell Nigerians and the entire world how she gathered her wealth.

CACOL said, “We as a centre that is totally opposed to corruption at any level of government and by any government official, no matter how highly placed or influential have always challenged the former first lady to come clean on the issue of her alleged corrupt enrichment.

“She owes Nigerians and the entire civilized world an explanation on:How she was able to build a hotel in Yenogoa, worth over N10b; how she earned over $20m and several other huge sums of money found in different bank accounts linked to her. Her explanation is necessary because wecan recall that she was just a career civil servant under theBayelsa state government while her husband held sway as the nation’s President.

“CACOL’s stand remains that for Corruption to be finally uprooted from our national life, no effort must be spared in the bid to recoup stolen wealth that has left most Nigerians pauperized and frustrated, no matter whose ox is gored. It is for this reason we are not only decrying a situation whereby those who siphoned our commonwealth directly or through proxy would arrange a rented crowd or blackmail the nation by calling on the Presidency and the International community to intervene or leash the EFCC from carrying the fight against corruption to its logical conclusion.

“The CACOL boss further stated: “Rather than appealing to sheer emotion and undue sentiment that gives the impression that since over 70% of the nation’s revenue comes from oil-most of which is obviously still derivable from the Niger Delta area- any indigene of the regionshould be free to steal in power, the correct approach should be to chastise their own for not living up to integrity standards by doing incalculable damage to the nation’s economy through entrenchment of a looting culture.

“The women solidarity marchers should also endeavor to cite other former first ladies involved in verifiable cases of corruption which the anti-graft agencies have treated as sacred cows, to prove their allegation of witch-hunting against Mrs Jonathan. Only by so doing would they prove to the entire world that they deserve being given any serious attention.”
