The Nigeria Labour Congress in Ekiti State has threatened to embark on strike if Governor Ayo Fayose fails to pay them two months’ salaries and pensions from when he receives July allocation. The position of the workers was stated on Thursday by the Chairman of the NLC in the state, Ade Adesanmi. Adesanmi, who accused the state government of withholding information on Internally Generated Revenue, said: “When the inability to pay salaries began, the present government came with an option of downsizing the workforce or allowing two months’ allocations to be added to pay one month’s salaries. “In the interest of our people, we took the second option. “As labour leaders, we are supposed to be apolitical and that position we maintain till now. “Now, the election has come and gone but the pitiable situation of our members occasioned by the non-payment of salaries and pension of senior citizens still persist and it is worrisome. “Letters have been written to the outgoing government to set the machinery in motion for the payment of backlog of arrears of salaries and pensions to fulfil its promise not to leave Ekiti as a debtor. “This time, we want to hold Governor Fayose to his words. “Workers are dying, pensioners are dying and the governor, as a father to all, should ensure that our pains are relieved as soon as possible. “We have suggested that from the July allocation, the government should mop up all funds and start paying two months’ salaries, the failure which labour may not be able to guarantee industrial peace and harmony in Ekiti.” http://kikiotolu.com/ekiti-workers-serve-fayose-strike-notice-demand-information-on-igr/

The immediate past Deputy Chairman of APC, Chief Segun Oni has commended the Federal Government for recruiting more than 8,000 unemployed graduates of Ado-Ekiti state into the second batch of the N-Power programme. Oni, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria, at his Ifaki-Ekiti residence, said that the programme had given hope to the beneficiaries. He debunked the rumour making the rounds that the beneficiaries were selected on party affiliation; say that they were selected on merit from the 16 local government areas of the state. According to him, the recruitment of the unemployed graduates into the scheme is timely and a relief to the beneficiaries, adding that many of them have been jobless for years. He said: “I can say with assurance that the beneficiaries were picked on merit. “Each of them filled forms online where they itemised their degrees and areas of specialisation, to determine where they could fit in to work and proof their worth. “The beneficiaries were mostly from indigent background and I can tell you that no one has any affiliation with anyone of them.” Oni, who is also a former governor of Ekiti, also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, for the scheme. He said that the scheme could give the beneficiaries opportunity that could turn many of them to employers of labour in future. He said: “I want to, on behalf of Ekiti beneficiaries, thank President Buhari and his able vice for the introduction of the N-Power scheme under which beneficiaries are entitled to stipend per month. “I want to promise on behalf of the beneficiaries that they will work to strengthen the effort of the Buhari administration. “We will ensure that the beneficiaries are deployed to critical areas that will impact on the development of the state.” Oni urged the beneficiaries of the scheme to give their best to the nation and refrain from any form of misconduct, reminding them that they held their future in their hands. He also congratulated the governor-elect, Dr Kayode Fayemi on his victory. NAN reports that the beneficiaries collected letters of posting to their various primary places of work from N-Power representatives at the Ola-Oluwa Grammar School, Ado-Ekiti on Monday and Tuesday. http://kikiotolu.com/n-power-segun-oni-commends-fg-for-recruiting-over-8000-ekiti-indigenes/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique Fynestboi Ishilove

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Ekiti State, Dr. Olusegun Osinkolu, has declared that the incoming government of Dr. Kayode Fayemi won’t make probing the outgoing governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, its priority as is being envisaged. In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, Osinkolu said although Fayemi would look into financial books of the state under the PDP-led government, he won’t be vindictive as is being suggested in some quarters. He spoke in response to a statement credited to the Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications, Lere Olayinka, where he alleged that Fayemi specifically sought reelection in the July 14 poll to afford him the opportunity to extract vengeance from Fayose. The senatorial aspirant stated that the main focus of the incoming APC government is to fight poverty and restore the already debased dignity and honour for which the state was widely respected. He said Fayose is a non-issue to an average APC person, including Fayemi, adding that the issue of the present Governor can’t take preeminence over the corporate interest of Ekiti masses when the next government assumes office. Osinkolu said, “Dr. Fayemi was in government for four years and all the 133 towns and villages in the state felt democratic dividends under that government. “If you check your records, Fayose had been victimizing Fayemi in the last one year. In fact, he took Dr Fayemi’s probe as one cardinal point that must be accomplished at all cost. The governor concocted so many lies to smear the image of the former Minister in a bid to stop his governorship ambition , but all these antics failed. “If you look at the slogan of our party prior to the last election, it was chiefly anchored on Reclaiming Our Land, Restoring our values. So, this is going to be the focal point of our government. “The 8-point agenda already initiated to be our policy guidelines was loaded and this will take more of our times in a bid to ensure that Ekiti savour the gains of democracy they have been deprived under Fayose. “But let me say that APC as a party of progressives won’t subscribe to looting of public treasury under any guise. It won’t tolerate pilfering of the state’s commonwealth . So, we are going to look into the financial records of Fayose’s government and whoever found to have looted will be made to face the wrath of the law. “But let me state expressly that probing Governor Fayose won’t come in a vindictive fashion but in accordance to the rule of law. We won’t behave the way he had done to our party, because we are coming to government to serve the people and not to victimize anybody,” he said. Osinkolu appealed to the Senator Olubunmi Adetumbi-led APC transition committee to be thorough to be able to prepare grounds on how Fayemi can have a smooth take off when he assumes office on October 16. He urged the 32-man committee to relate well with all stakeholders, including the government of the day, in a bid to get the full gist of what actually transpired under the present administration in Ekiti. http://kikiotolu.com/ekiti-handover-probing-fayose-wont-be-fayemis-priority-apc-chieftain/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique Fynestboi Ishilove

Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose today inspected the 80% completed Oja Oba Market in the state capital, Ado Ekiti. People could be seen chanting praises of the Governor as he arrived the construction site of the ultra modern market. The Ekiti State government had in 2015 demolished of structures in Oja Oba market, which was set ablaze as a fallout of the crisis between drivers and Hausa people in the state. Commissioner for Works, Mr. Kayode Osho, had said the demolition and excavation of the market premises would follow a construction of a modern shopping mall with all the necessary facilities. The prospect of a bigger market now looks more of a reality as the structure is already near completion and has taken shape. An indigene of Ado Ekiti revealed to KikioTolu about how pleased he was with the new project, stating that the market was surely going to boost the economy of the state. A 29-year-old woman , Mrs Ndidi Odo, has given birth to quintuplets in Nnewi, Anambra State. The mother of the five new-born babies (four boys and a girl) said she didn’t know that she was carrying quintuplets in her womb and that scan only revealed that she would give birth to twins According to her, she earlier had three girls which she got one after the other in different pregnancies, saying the girls were followed by triplets (two boys and a girl). She, however, explained that she later lost the boys and was left with four girls, noting that she prepared for her last pregnancy which she hoped would produce a boy only to be blessed with four boys and a girl. The father of the new babies, Mr Abuchi Odo, a tricycle operator, who said he wanted to run away after realizing the magnitude of the responsibility that just fell on him, said he was prevailed upon to stay back by one Prince Justin Brown and his elder brother. Former Ekiti State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Owoseni Ajayi, has revealed that the PDP house started crumbling under Governor Ayodele Fayose because of his refusal to listen to advice and give room for reconciliation in the party. He added that Fayose’s alleged arrogance, taking the people for granted and stabbing those who helped him back to power in the back, caused the defeat of the PDP governorship candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, Another factor, according to him, was the mass exodus of leading party members who contributed to Fayose’s victory in the 2014 governorship election which rendered the platform very weak to face a very formidable opposition. Speaking with Journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, Ajayi maintained that the July 14 governorship election won by the governor-elect, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, was free, fair, transparent, credible and would stand the judicial scrutiny of the Election Petition Tribunal. Ajayi said Ekiti people could no longer tolerate the alleged overbearing attitude of Fayose and attempting to remain in power by proxy hence the decision to vote massively against PDP. Ajayi dismissed the claims in some quarters that the last governorship poll was manipulated. He also added that Fayose’s waning popularity occasioned by disrespect and arrogance shown to key PDP leaders was partly responsible for why he lost his local government area (Irepodun/Ifelodun) despite his status in the party. He revealed that Governor Ayo Fayose allegedly dissolved the State Executive Council to deny him the opportunity of becoming a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). Ajayi also disclosed that the governor dissolved the State Executive Council a day before he faced a panel of interviewers of Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) for the award of SAN in 2017 which made him become a former attorney general and reduced his rating for the rank. According to Ajayi, Fayose allegedly took the action because “he doesn’t want anybody serving under him to grow, develop and have a better status” adding that the action denied Ekiti an opportunity of producing a SAN for that year. “Assuming I had succeeded in that, I would say I have gotten something out of this administration and it would have brought glory to Ekiti State and to him (Fayose). “So, if somebody could go to such a ridiculous level, could be so mean and wicked to somebody that had served him diligently and sincerely, you will see the kind of character he is,” Ajayi said. Ajayi, a former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant was among party leaders who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) before the July 14 governorship poll. The senior lawyer revealed that PDP lost his Ise/Orun Local Government Area for the first time in 19 years because of Fayose’s alleged maltreatment of himself (Ajayi) and another prominent indigene, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, both of whom were governorship aspirants. Speaking on Fayose’s alleged ingratitude to his benefactors, Ajayi said: “There was nobody who have assisted us to come to power that Fayose has not offended; from Buruji to Senator Gbemi Saraki, to House of Reps member, Hon. Sunday Karimi to former PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Muazu, the list is endless. “There is virtually nobody, he has not turned against; so, how do you expect such a person to come and win election? How do you expect such a person to come and win election? So, it was a battle between the people of Ekiti State and Ayo Fayose, it was not a battle between PDP and APC.” http://kikiotolu.com/pdp-lost-ekiti-because-fayose-took-people-for-granted-former-attorney-gen-owoseni/

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Ekiti chapter, has declared that the workers in the State would no longer tolerate payment of one salary per month from Governor Ayodele Fayose. The Congress told Fayose to be prepared to pay two month salaries and pension per month till the expiration of his tenure in October. NLC added that workers were beginning to be hopeless about the possibility of Governor Fayose, whose tenure is gradually winding up to be able to defray backlog of salaries and pension as well as gratuities owed the state workers. It said it was becoming clearer by the day that the government was not committed to the payment as earlier promised with the way things were going. This decision was reached at the NLC’s State Executive Council Meeting held in Ado Ekiti on Saturday, which was made available to newsmen in a statement signed by its Chairman, Com. Ade Adesanmi, in Ado Ekiti on Sunday. Adesanmi said the labour union was finding it extremely difficult to convince the workers that the present government would adhere strictly to its promise to pay up before the Governor–elect, Dr Kayode Fayemi, takes over on October 16, 2018. The union demanded that the government should look for alternative way to offset outstanding salaries, pension and gratuities before the situation gets out of hands by paying at least two salaries per month commencing from July. Adesanmi pleaded with stakeholders not to read any political moves to this action, assuring that workers in the state remain apolitical and won’t shy away from ensuring that the welfare of members are treated with priority. He said: “The Ekiti State Government appeared not to be ready to fulfill its pledge of defraying the longstanding gratuity, pension, salaries and deductions for workers before the end of the tenure of the present government. “That the situation about the outstanding salaries is even worse with the local government workers and primary school teachers in the state. “That the situation has reached an unbearable level with workers of Ekiti State has thereby put the name and integrity of the labour leaders at stake, hence, they could not stand and fold their arms. “With just two months left behind for this government to finish its tenure, workers of Ekiti State are now hopeless about the payment of the outstanding salaries, pension, gratuity and deductions owed by the state government more so that there are no convincing strategies in place to fulfill the promise that this administration will not leave as a debtor. “Sequel to this, leaders are now in difficult position to convince workers of the state on the need to endure further. “We are hereby saying that failure to address this pitiable and emphatic situation of workers in Ekiti State, the leadership of labour in the state may not be able to guarantee industrial harmony in the state”. http://kikiotolu.com/weii-reject-one-salary-per-month-henceforth-nlc-tells-governor-fayose/

The YBNL Boss, Olamide took to his official Twitter handle to react to the trending post comparing him with Otumba Lamba Slimcase. The article was not created to cause any enmity between the artists. And if you understand English so well, the title indicated this year 2018, so far we are talking about the industry it’s not how far but how well. Little Destiny Boy can be compared with anybody if he’s doing really well. People talking about disrespect are the same people comparing Cardi B with Nicki Minaj and also comparing Tinubu with Saraki in politics and even comparing the G.OAT Ronaldo With Hazard. We need to do better and see things positively. The 23 members of Ekiti State House of Assembly on Friday passed vote of confidence on Governor Ayodele Fayose, and dissociated themselves from the alleged plot to impeach the Governor. Armed policemen allegedly caused a stir when they laid siege on the Assembly premises on Wednesday night to pave way for the three lawmakers of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) to reconvene the plenary, a week after the members have gone on recess. The move was condemned by Speaker Kolawole Oluwawole at a press briefing on Friday, when he alleged that the Assembly clerk’s signature was forged in a letter purportedly written to request for police cover. But the chairman, House Committee on information, Samuel Omotoso who spoke with newsmen on behalf of the 23 members at the government house, said they came on a solidarity visit to governor Fayose. He also expressed displeasure at the siege on the Assembly by the security agents, saying that the members are solidly behind the Governor. Omotoso said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers were fully in support of the move by the party to retrieve Olusola’s mandate which was allegedly stolen from him. He said, “we are here on solidarity visit to the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Ayodele Fayose and to show our displeasure to the stealing of the mandate freely given to Prof kolapo Olusola. We also want to use this medium to register our displeasure to the illegality being perpetrated by security agencies threatening to make the state ungovernable. “As you can see, we are 23 members and 21 is present here. Mrs Titi Owolabi is not here because she is bereaved, and one of us travels oversea. We are 26 members; three are on the other side. We are united and irrevocably committed to the cause of Fayose. “We are solidly behind him and our party the PDP. We support the decision of the party to go to court to retrieve the stolen mandate and also to tell the whole world that if 23 members are on the same page, we want to see how they want to use three members to perpetrate illegality in the state. “The tenure of this Governor runs out on October 16 and by the grace of God, he will complete his tenure. We are elected members by our constituents and we will do all the needful to make sure that the interest of our people will be protected. We are very loyal to the cause of our Governor. We are solidly behind him and he will triumph over all his enemies,” he said. http://kikiotolu.com/impeachment-we-are-very-loyal-fayose-will-complete-his-tenure-ekiti-assembly-fires-haters/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique Fynestboi Ishilove

Still over the Ekiti elections , Lawyers to Ekiti State Governor-elect, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, have faulted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for allegedly allowing the main opposition party to access the electoral documents for July 14 polls. A member of Fayemi’s legal team, Mr. Tajudeen Akingbolu, said hi party has formally written to INEC requesting for the Certified True Copies (CTCs) of the electoral documents which had not been granted. Akingbolu who spoke with news men in Ado-Ekiti Today said he had gone to INEC office to see the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. AbdulGaniy Raji , on the development but was told that he was not on seat. When contacted, INEC spokesman, Mr. Taiwo Gbadegesin, declined comments on the matter saying “only the REC can speak on the development.” According to Akingbolu, “Immediately after the election was conducted, July 16 to be precise, we wrote an application to the REC to the effect that we need CTCs of Forms EC8A, EC8B, EC8C, EC8D, EC8E and other documents used for the conduct of the election but up till now, we have not been granted access to those documents. He added that “This is my third time of coming here but we heard scary information this morning that our adversary, that is PDP, have come here and has been given access to those documents. “We were reliably informed that they (INEC) has opened the store where these documents are kept for them without putting us on notice. “That is why we want to sound a note of warning that, for any document to be released at all, every party must be available and every other party must be on ground and present. “We don’t want a situation whereby electoral materials, particularly the ballot papers, will be mutilated, tampered with or destroyed. They can be thumb-printed again to make them look as if they are void. “That is why we want to warn INEC to be on the side of caution on this issue. We know the character of the people we are dealing with, we don’t want to take any chances at all and we don’t want to be put on the defensive. “We heard from a very reliable source that they have been having access to the documents since last week. In a situation in which the other party is not given access it looks somehow. “I went to REC’s office but I learnt he is not available and I have to come out and wait for him. That is not the practice anywhere in the world.” http://kikiotolu.com/ekiti-election-fayemi-accuses-inec-of-giving-pdp-election-materials/

The Presiding priest at St Micheal Catholic Church Obajana. Reverend Father Leo Michael was Tuesday evening abducted at Irepeni village, Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State. A source also had it that a yet to be identified pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) was abducted at the same spot and time, while on his way to Okene. A Chemistry lecturer with the Kogi State College of Education (Technical) Kabba, Mr. Aronimu Samuel Babatunde was also said to have been kidnapped along the Okene-Kabba road. According to Bishop Peter Adinoyi, the Diocesan Chancellor of Lokoja Diocese, the abductors emerged from the bushes near Irepeni village, close to a mounted roadblock, dragged down Fr. Micheal and one other person, believed to be a pastor with the RCCG and dashed back into the bush, leaving the two vehicles parked along the road. The Bishop stated that the abductors have established contact with some members of the Church, adding that they have brought down the ransom from N50M to N8m, and threatening they ‘await the worst’ if their demand is not met before 1pm Thursday. He noted that the DSS and the Army have swung into action to track down the perpetrators. He lamented that abduction is mostly targeted at the poor, stressing that by now the insecurity of lives and property should have improved but is rather getting worse by the day. He called on the government to quickly address the ugly situation. The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) William Aya confirmed the abduction of the Catholic priest. Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, says Nigeria will be doomed financially if President Muhammadu Buhari is, for any reason, re-elected in 2019. He said this when he paid a visit to Senate President Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu, deputy senate president. Fayose condemned the siege laid to the residences of the duo, adding that the visit is to solidarise with them. “Why we are here is to equally salute their courage for doing what they have done to salvage from these government of beasts which have no use for humanity,” he said. “Beasts destroy, beasts cannot be cultured, beasts cannot be managed, beast have come to destroy the country. “Let me say that we want to condemn in totality what happened to the deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu. It shows the level of their status. They behave like defeated souls who will stop at nothing to remain in power. If PDP had done this ahead of 2015 election, these people will not be in power. “I want them to know that every plan without God will fail. I want the senators not to be intimidated. They should continue to struggle to make sure that this country is freed from the shackles of these taskmasters. “Everybody needs to come together to drive away this government. If this man should return as president, we will be doomed financially.” He commended the senators who defected from the APC, saying it was long overdue. “It is long overdue. All the shenanigans in Ekiti, all the manipulations in Ekiti, this was one of the reasons they did that to make sure they intimidate and prevent them from carrying out this national defection,” he added. “They are defecting because of Nigerians, not PDP. Just that PDP is the credible alternative. “If you look at killings, nobody even counts anymore. It has gone beyond counting. What they do represents the feeling of Nigerians.” http://kikiotolu.com/buhari-will-destroy-nigeria-if-we-dont-drive-him-away-fayose-says/

The Deputy Governor-Elect of Ekiti, Bisi Egbeyemi, says Governor Ayo Fayose planned to use last-minute recruitment drive to win the July 14 governorship election for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) but failed. He described the employment forms released by the Fayose administration before the governorship poll in the state as fraudulent, warning prospective jobs seekers to be wary. Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, Egbeyemi also assured that the governor-elect, Dr Kayode Fayemi, would implement its blueprint for all sectors. According to him, the salaries owed to workers by Fayose would be a top priority of the incoming administration. The tenure of the current administration would end on October 16. Egbeyemi described the purported recruitment as a scam to deceive the electorate during the poll. “How can a governor who had few weeks left instruct unemployed youths in the state to submit their curriculum vitae for jobs that he promised to create for them? “Over 10,000 youths in the state collected the forms for the jobs, but unfortunately, up till now, he has not employed one single youth in the state. “Here is somebody who sacked all those who were employed by the Fayemi-led administration and now wants to employ 2,000 workers. “Workers and the youths should know that he is only deceiving them, but he has forgotten that the people and an average Ekiti worker is more educated and enlightened than he is,” he said. Egbeyemi, a former Chairman of Ado-Ekiti Local Government Area, promised that the incoming government would employ those sacked by the present government when it assumed office. http://kikiotolu.com/fayemis-deputy-reveals-how-fayoses-last-minute-plan-failed/

The Department of State Services, DSS, has denied reports that a governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke is under investigation for certificate scandal. The group also vowed to drag the lawmaker to court if he failed to do. But reacting, the Director of the DSS in Osun State, Mr. Brown Ekwoaba said the agency was not investigating any case involving the senator. The governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Otunba Segun Adewale in the just concluded Ekiti election has said that the 1,082 result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ADP is not the party's result. Adewale, speaking through his Director of Media and Public Communications, Prince Adelaja Adeoye on Saturday, posited that the results announced for ADP is not the true reflection of how voters casted their votes for his party. Adewale who said, from the results independently compiled from various polling units so far, ADP has scored over 5581 votes, and will likely triple that figure when all results are fully complied. He also said that he may be heading to court soon, because INEC wrongly captured his name on the copy of final result sheet given to the party's returning officer, which means that, a wrong result was presented to the public on his behalf and that of his party. Adewale who said that, the rejection of the result is not because he is claiming victory for the election but for INEC to make public ADP's authentic result, stating that what INEC has done was to riddicle his party, in what he termed as "Unholy Gang Up" against the party as the credible THIRD FORCE in Ekiti State and Nigeria in general. Adewale who accused INEC that it deliberately withheld it agents tags in most of the local government citing Ado Ekiti as an example, the issue which was raised at the Stakeholders meeting held on Friday night and in attendance were PDP, APC, Police, DSS and INEC National officials. The ADP returning officer challenged INEC of not releasing party tags to agents who were on ground to assist the party and it was finally released at about 1:40pm on the election day, when the election was almost over. He said that ADP will first submit a protest letter to INEC in Abuja, an action that will be followed by court action, should INEC fail to make public the authentic result of the party with his correct name, he stated further that INEC must not treat the issue with levity because it may lead to total cancellation of the entire poll. Adewale said, despite the conniviance of some party people internally, the betrayal experienced and INEC's deliberate bottleneck to frustrate the party, it was impossible for ADP to have scored such a ridiculous number of votes, because the party was well accepted by the Ekiti people. Adewale who was still miffed by the actions of the INEC, said that his party, ADP has become an household name in Ekiti State, and would not score such number of votes even if no single agents were available at the polling units because people came out to vote for ADP, due to the popularity of the party in the state. http://kikiotolu.com/breaking-adp-rejects-ekiti-poll-results-threatens-court-actions/

Success, they say, has many fathers while failure is an orphan. That seems to be the scenario at Government House, Ado-Ekiti, where the crowd of friends and associates of the outgoing Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, who used to besiege the place on a daily basis are thining out by the day. Fayose’s bid to install his own successor failed in the governorship election that took place in the state last Saturday as his deputy and annointed candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, who flew the flag of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was defeated the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi. Although Fayose was not a candidate in the election, political observers believe he was the bigger loser as Olusola was merely his protege and he (Fayose) had boasted that it was a test of strength between him one hand and APC and President Muhammadu Buhari on the other hand. A source at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti told our reporter that Governor Fayose was gradually coming to terms with the reality of his imminent exit from his exalted office. The source, however, said the decision of many Fayose’s supporters and loyalists who used to throng the Government House on a daily basis might not necessarily be because the governor’s candidate failed in the election. “You know that the governor is having a lot of problems with security agents. I think the people are staying away because of that and not because he lost the election.” the source said. She, however, admitted that the last time the governor’s loyalists trooped to the seat of power was on July 13, a day to the governorship election when they came to collect election money. She noted that the defeat they suffered at the poll must have dampened their morale as much as it the governor’s. It had taken Fayose about three days to find his voice after the poll. And when he finally spoke, it was at the palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, with whom he had a verbal confrontation in March over the urban renewal programme of the Fayose government, which necessitated the demolition of buildings in the state capital. Fayose, who had trekked to the palace without the full compliment of his security aides as they were yet to be restored after they were withdrawn about 48 hours to the election, told the Ewi of his ordeal 72 hours after his party lost the governorship poll. This time, it was a sober Fayose who waited patiently at the palace until the Ewi emerged from his inner chambers to attend to him. Upon the Ewi’s appearance, Fayose prostrated in a show of maximum respect for the Oba and also remained on the floor until the Ewi told him to get up and have his seat. In an emotion laden voice, Fayose urged the monarch to help him appeal to the federal authorities to stop alleged siege to his official residence. Fayose said: “I have come to officially tell your sir, as the paramount ruler of Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, that the Government House was invaded by the police. “Over 400 of our (party) members are being detained as we speak now. “After the poll on Saturday, my wife was prevented from entering the Government House for about 45 minutes. “Since last Wednesday, security agents had laid siege to the Government House and were subjecting people to untold hardship coming in or going out. “The poll has come and gone, irrespective of what we went through. The Constitution says I am still the governor till October 16 this year. “Our state radio and television stations have been shut down, and there has been no means of getting across to our people. “It was only this morning that security agents at the entrance of the Government House were withdrawn. “If we have been robbed, I still have a right to life and my family has a right to life too. “The man that won has three units of the police protecting him. All my security men have been withdrawn since last Wednesday. I am only left with just a few. “Harassing me is not in the interest of democracy. People must intervene before things go out of hand. “I don’t know why we should be in this situation in 2018.” http://kikiotolu.com/ekiti-fayoses-loyalists-desert-government-house/

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) Osun state chapter, on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 held a successful Congress where an indigene of Iwo from Osun West senatorial zone, Mr. Munirudeen Kehinde Atanda, emerged the candidate of the party. The primary election which took place at the party’s secretariat located along Gbongan road, Osogbo, was held under tight security, as members of the party across the state voted for their preferred aspirants. Though on the ballot paper used for the primary, name of Senator Iyiola Omisore and Otunba Yemisi Oladeji, were boldly written, but the former was not seen in the premises where the exercise took place. Officials of both Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and National Orientation Agency (NOA) also witnessed the exercise. Addressing party members after the exercise, Osun SDP chairman, Chief Ademola Ishola, told them to disregard insinuation that another faction of the party exists in the state, claiming that he remained the authentic leader of SDP in Osun. Ishola called for dedication from members, even as he urged them to reach out to non-align people of the state and members of other political parties, and convince them on the need to support SDP in the September 22 governorship election because of its rich manifestoes and willingness of the party to serve. The party’s state secretary, Elder Olufemi Awe disclosed that going by the SDP constitution, the party’s flag bearer can emerge either through direct or indirect primary. “But we chose to elect our governorship candidate through indirect primary by bringing all the delegates and the aspirants to the party secretariat”, he stated. Atanda, a son of prominent Iwo politician and a London based lawyer polled 271, Oladeji had 13 votes while former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Omisore polled 8 votes. In his acceptance speech, Atanda thanked all the SDP members in the state for supporting him just as he promised to ensure that the party’s manifesto is followed so as to bring a new lease of life to the state indigenes. http://kikiotolu.com/osun-election-atanda-emerges-sdp-candidate-omisore-boycotts-primary/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique Fynestboi Ishilove

Jeff Bezos’s wealth has reached an incredible new milestone. As of Tuesday, according to a Forbes estimate, the Amazon founder and CEO has a net worth of $143.1 billion—making him at least $50 billion richer than any other person on Earth. Bezos became the world’s richest man last summer, when his net worth (then around $90 billion) surpassed that of Microsoft founder Bill Gates. Gates, who has given much of his fortune to philanthropic efforts, now has a net worth of about $93.3 billion, Forbes reports. Like many of the world’s richest people, Jeff Bezos’s net worth is tied directly to his company’s performance in the stock market. Bezos owns roughly 16% of Amazon, and Amazon stock has been soaring. The price of a single share of Amazon is now selling for over $1,700, up from $1,000 as recently as last October. On Monday, Amazon stock popped roughly 2%, boosting Jeff Bezos’s net worth by another $2.24 billion. All signs indicate that shoppers will go crazy for Amazon Prime Day 2018, the annual blockbuster online sales event. When that happens, investors will probably find new reason to buy more Amazon stock — nudging Jeff Bezos’s net worth even higher. Amazon Prime Day 2018 is set to stretch out over 36 hours starting on the afternoon of Monday, July 16, and continuing through Tuesday, July 17. Amazon says that Amazon Prime Day 2018 sales will be bigger than ever, with more than a million deals available worldwide. Amazon Prime Day has been a monster success for Amazon since its inception in 2015, generating huge online sales and spikes in Prime subscriptions alike. In order to take advantage of Amazon Prime Day deals, you must be a member of Amazon Prime, the subscription program that includes free two-day shipping on most Amazon purchases, plus perks like unlimited video streaming of Prime content. This year, as Amazon Prime Day 2018 approaches, the cost of Prime is higher than it’s been in the past. Amazon increased the price of monthly Prime subscriptions back in January, from $10.99 to $12.99, and in April the company announced annual Prime membership prices would rise from $99 to $119. (There’s still a free 30-day trial period for new members.) Amazon says that there are now more than 100 million paid Prime members worldwide, and Amazon Prime Day is always correlated with an increase in memberships. Beyond the hefty revenues generated strictly from Prime membership costs, the big reason Amazon pushes online shoppers to become Prime subscribers is that people tend to buy way more stuff on Amazon after they’ve become Prime members, studies show. Take that as a warning. http://kikiotolu.com/jeff-bezos-is-now-the-richest-man-in-the-world-with-143b-he-is-50b-richer-than-any-man-on-earth/
