CelebritiesSkales Reveals How Davido And Wizkid’s Music Affect His Own by Ekiti360(op): 3:44pm On Jun 14, 2018
Skales says he is inspired by Wizkid, Davido and every other Nigerian artiste doing great things and “putting the country on a different level”.

Speaking on Wednesday in an interview with BBC’s DJ Edu, Skales, who was Wizkid’s former label mate, said he gained exposure by listening to songs made by artistes from other countries.

“Listening to musicians in other parts of the world gave me that exposure that I needed and made music more interesting to make,” he said.

“Music is not all about making money for me, honestly, I do this for the love even though I have a team that has to eat so I have to be innovative with it. It’s very fun and inspiring because I am inspired by my own story.

“I was just chilling in London last year and I saw an Instagram post from Nicki Minaj and I was like wow.

“It’s not only me, I won’t take all the credit, I’ll have to big up everybody from Wizkid to David, people that have been putting the country on a different level, raising the bar high. I want to give a big shout out to them, they inspire us.”

Commenting on his forthcoming album, Skales said he has collaborated with various African artistes through random meetings.

“Just take your studio with you because anything can pop up,” he said.

The ‘Coolu Temper’ singer said the album will no longer be released on June 22, adding that “we will hold it back for a week or two”.

Jobs/VacanciesPolice Recruitment: JAMB Reveals Who Included Arabic Questions In Examination by Ekiti360(op): 1:16pm On Jun 12, 2018
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has explained why it included Arabic in examination question for police recruitment.

The body said the questions were set by its workers who are Christians.

The board, however, insisted that contrary to insinuation that Arabic was made compulsory in the examination, no candidate was instructed or made to forcibly attempt any question in Arabic, explaining that the subject was included as dummy.

JAMB also explained that the examination was administered by some senior Christian staff among whom it disclosed, was a “deacon in one of the largest pentecostal churches in the country.”

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, gave the explanation, yesterday, when the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, YOWICAN, led by its National President, Daniel Kadzai, visited him at the board’s headquarters in Abuja.

“The examination questions were incidentally set and administered by the directorate staff of the board, among who incidentally is a deacon in one of the largest pentecostal churches in Nigeria,“ he said.

He expressed concern over the continuous controversies trailing the police recruitment examination in the country.

He said: “I am worried over the misrepresentation of the whole scenario, which has continued to cause unnecessary tension in the country. It is worrisome that Nigeriahas degenerated to a level where we don’t trust each other anymore even amongst religious leaders.”

Insisting that Arabic questions were not part of the examination but were simply included as dummies to enable the software function properly, the JAMB boss said he was concerned over the enormous division among the various faiths in the country.

To this end, he called on Nigerians to put the country first in all they do, just as he urged them “to work as one indivisible entity otherwise the much clamoured development would elude us.”

“Furthermore, the first defendant was invited on May 15, 2017 to meet with the Team “A” and AMCON. During the meeting, Dariye disclosed that he did not know that the second defendant, Apartment le Paradis Limited was not registered with SCUML.

“I took him through the Money Laundering Act 2011 (as amended) and explained the need to register the hotel and report transactions and advised that he register with SCUML and send backlog of all its business transactions.

“A formal letter of non-compliance was written to Apartment le Paradis Limited on May 30, 2017 stating their obligations with regards to DNFI registration and reporting,” she said.

CelebritiesTboss Reveals Why Her Relationship With Ubi Franklin Is Special To Her by Ekiti360(op): 7:03am On Jun 11, 2018
Big Brother Naija 2017 housemate, Tokunbo Idowu, popularly known as TBoss, has been questioned for getting too close to Lilian Esoro’s embattled husband, Ubi Franklin.

It has been reported that Franklin and Esoro are finally heading for a divorce after being separated for a while.

When a male follower attacked TBoss during the week for spending time with Franklin, she told him to mind his business. According to the man, she could have waited for Franklin to formally divorce his wife before getting attached.

However, TBoss told Sunday Scoop that she had known Franklin for 16 years, even before meeting Esoro. She said, “I don’t see why I should not respond to people whenever they say rubbish on my page if I feel like doing so. I don’t understand why people are concerned that I was hanging out with my friend.

“I don’t follow blogs; I don’t follow gossips; so, I don’t know what was written online. He is my friend and we didn’t talk about any issues with his wife and I didn’t know if they had divorced or not. I have known Ubi for 16 years, which was before he met his wife. I don’t have to justify anything to anyone.”

The former BBN contestant also insisted that Franklin was already separated before they started hanging out. She said, “I don’t know why people are always on my case. Does it mean I cannot talk to a man without people insinuating I am having an affair with him? I don’t make mean comments about people or throw shades online. I keep my opinions to myself as it will not put food on the next person’s table or change him or her. I don’t even care about what people choose to put on social media. If something goes on my page, it means I want people to see it.”

CelebritiesAfeez Abiodun Owo: I Disliked My Tribal Mark In My Childhood Days. See Why by Ekiti360(op): 9:47am On Jun 09, 2018
Popular Nollywood actor Afeez Abiodun aka Afeez Owo recently went down memory late to the time when he used to dislike himself because of the tribal marks his parents did for him.

In a recent chat with Saturday Beats, Owo said he will never allow his children to go through what he went through in his childhood days.

His words:

“I am very comfortable with my tribal marks now and if anything ever wipes them off my face, I would feel bare or naked and my fans would not recognise me. While I was growing up in Surulere, there were a lot of times I was teased by people because of my tribal marks. They abused me so much but I did not care; today my tribal mark is my trademark. There was a time people teased me so much that I attempted to use sandpaper to wipe them off especially when bus conductors insulted me about it. They always picked on me and called me various names but I thank God for who I am today. I am also glad I did not get rid of the tribal marks. There is no insult anyone can dish out to me over my tribal marks that would hurt my feelings. Although I like my tribal marks, I can never allow anyone to give my children tribal marks”.
On how he started his acting career, the actor said:

“When I started my acting career, it was rough and tough. The first challenge I faced was from my parents who felt I did not know what I was doing with my life. I lived with them in Oyo State and they felt that I ought to go to school to study. They weren’t pleased with me, so they backed off and I had to finance my education from Primary 5 till I got to Form 5. When I got to Lagos, I had to fend for myself as well. I got a little place on Randle Avenue, Surulere and whenever I was going for rehearsals, I trekked from my house in Surulere to Saka Tinubu, Victoria Island. I never knew that I would become someone in life. I just went with hope and I had it in mind that if I passed out while trekking either to the venue or back home, then so be it. I got a breakthrough in 1998 and two years later, I produced my first movie” .

PoliticsEkiti 2018: All Corps Members Must Serve As Electoral Officers – INEC by Ekiti360(op): 5:16pm On Jun 07, 2018
Against the backdrop of the suspicion by politicians in Ekiti State that the July 14 governorship election may not be credible, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reassured Nigerians that no individual or group will be allowed to truncate the poll.

The electoral body said it was partnering with the European Centre For Electoral Support (ECES) for the training of staff who will be used for the election, so they can get acquainted with modern and digitalized electoral process through the Election Monitoring and Support Centre (EMSC) implementers’ workshop.

The electoral commission also disclosed that it is compulsory for the members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Ekiti state to serve as electoral officers in the election, describing the poll as a critical national assignment that was a statutory obligation of any corps member.

INEC also said some staff and students of the some federal institutions in the state will be deployed to make up for the shortfall recorded in the number of NYSC members required to conduct the election, saying this was not attempt to vitiate or compromise the integrity of the election.

Speaking at the Ekiti State EMSC workshop organized for INEC staff in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, the national commissioner in charge of Ekiti, Oyo and Osun States, Prince Adedeji Soyebi, commended ECES for taking interest in matters that will boost the integrity of Nigerian elections.

He said, “The EMSC is a programme specially conceived to give skills to staff of this commission. We have passed through many training but this is very special and important, so we appreciate the European Union for this help.”

On the allegations by the Ekiti State governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose that it was wrong to draw students of Federal University, Oye Ekiti to conduct the election, Soyebi said: “I don’t need to join issues with them at this level, because that is the standard practice anywhere.

“We want to draw them into the election to supplement the shortfall in the number of corps members to be used. We started this in 2011 and they have to be students and staff of federal universities,” he clarified.

Soyebi said those accused of illegally purchasing Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from owners were wasting their times and resources, saying: “No one can vote for anybody by proxy, because we will test the fingerprints”.

The INEC Chief added that a more voter-friendly enhanced Smart Card Readers will be deployed for the conduct of the Ekiti election.

Also speaking, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ekiti state, Prof Abdulganiy Raji, assured that INEC will be neutral in the election.

Lending credence to Soyebi’s assertion on the use of students as electoral officers, Raji revealed that, “We needed 10,500 youth corps members and we have 6,500 in Ekiti as of now, out of which 1, 500 will be discharged by July 7.

“With this, we need additional 5,500 staff and these we can only get through students and staff of federal schools. We are in the 6th week of training for them. They are being screened and trained to get the required skills.

“It is a compulsory exercise and they have to participate”, the REC stated.

The Director of ECES , Mr David Le Notre, praised the INEC for taking the giant step of re-branding the country’s electoral system.

Notre said the body will continue to lend support to Nigeria to overcome challenges affecting the conduct of credible polls that meet international standard, and for Nigeria to join the league of nations with a perfect electoral system.

PoliticsMKO Abiola: Fayose Reacts, Suggests Best Honour For Late Politician by Ekiti360(op): 1:51pm On Jun 07, 2018
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has spoken on the honour bestowed on Moshood Abiola by Presient Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday as GCFR as well as the declaration of June 12 as the new Democracy Day.

Buhari had in a press release on Wednesday, declared June 12 as the new Democracy Day.

He also announced that MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of the annulled June 12 1993 election, will be posthumously awarded the highest honour in the land, GCFR.

Mixed reactions have continued to trail the decision to change Democracy Day from May 29 to June 12. Some Nigerians have questioned Buhari’s motive and the timing, citing the declaration as an appeal to the South-West ahead of next year’s elections.

However, Fayose reacting to the new development took to his Twitter page, noting that the greatest honour by Buhari would be to conduct free and fair elections even as he commended him.

“MKO Abiola is worthy to be honoured and we in Ekiti honoured him with a public holiday on June 12, 2017, we will do it again this year.

“However, the greatest honour anyone can bestow on MKO Abiola is total respect for the rule of law and conduct of free, fair & credible elections,” Fayose wrote.

PoliticsEkiti 2018: Fayemi, APC Jittery – PDP Candidate, Eleka by Ekiti360(op): 8:34pm On Jun 06, 2018
Kolapo Olusola Campaign Organisation (KOCO), the campaign team of the Ekiti State Deputy Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola has described the statement by the All Progressives Congress (APC), criticizing Olusola’s visit to public schools in the State as function of “Acquired Political Laziness and Electoral Failure Syndrome”.

It described APC’s condemnation as strange and funny, pointing out that the deputy governor was in charge of education in Ekiti State.

KOCO Director of Media and Publicity, Lere Olayinka, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said; “If the APC candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi is not being pursued around by his old shadow of wickedness to Ekiti workers, especially teachers, why is he not also visiting the schools? Or is anyone preventing him?

“What they are obviously afraid of is Prof Kolapo Olusola’s very strong affinity with teachers and pupils in Ekiti State. His father is a retired teacher, his mother retired as a headmistress, his wife is a teacher, and he is a trained teacher himself.

“Whereas, their own candidate is a holder of PhD in war and we wonder why he was not able to assist the federal government to solve the problems of herdsmen killings across the country.”

Olayinka said; “When we read that puerile press statement from the APC, we couldn’t but laughed because we only saw a party struggling to take the minds of the people away from the fact thatless than 40 days to the election, it has not campaigned here in Ekiti.

“If not, why should visit to public schools by the Deputy Governor, who is also supervising the ministry of education and has achieved tremendous results be the headache of the APC?”

While challenging Fayemi to also visit schools in the State, Olayinka said; “Instead of holing himself up in Abuja and Akure, Ondo State, why can’t Dr. Fayemi come to Ekiti and visit teachers in their schools, local government workers in their various council secretariats and the civil servants at the State secretariat.

“The last we have about the APC candidate was his apology to Ekiti people and promise that he has changed for the better.

“We thought that by now, Fayemi would have visited the families of all those that were killed during his four years reign of blood in Ekiti, especially those teachers who died as a result of their demotion.

“For instance, we thought that if Fayemi is indeed sorry, he should have visited the family of Foluso Ogundare, a former member of the defunct Bibire Coalition, a former political group of Hon Opeyemi Bamidele that was killed by Fayemi’s thug in Emure Ekiti on November 3, 2013 while holding a political meeting in the town.”

TravelGermany To Deport 30,000 Nigerians – Abike Dabiri by Ekiti360(op): 6:40am On Jun 06, 2018
Germany is set to deport close to 30,000 Nigerians seeking asylum in the country.

Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Diaspora and Foreign Affairs, Hon. Abike Dabiri Erewa disclosed this at a programme; “Developing a mixed migration strategy for UNHCR Nigeria” in Abuja on Tuesday.

“Germany said it has about 25,000 to 30,000 Nigerians seeking asylum and they can’t guarantee they will get it. So, there is every possibilities that they will be returned to Nigeria,” she said.

According to her, the reasons for asylum by the Nigerians were not genuine as “some who are from the East and West are saying they are running away from Boko Haram while some others say they are gays and were having challenges expressing themselves in Nigeria.”

The SSA to the President, however said a date has not yet been set for the deportation of the asylum seeking Nigerians.

“Germany has set up a team working with the ministry of foreign affairs to see how the whole process [of deportation] can be made easier.

“We are looking at the option of reverse migration also where you can actually stay in your country and enjoy everything you are migrating abroad to get.”

While noting that Germany is offering more scholarships and easier process of regular migration for Nigerians, Hon. Dabiri Erewa appealed to young Nigerians to watch out for those opportunities and take advantage of them.

She noted that irregular migration was no longer working as the foreign countries were also having their own challenges now.

“The government is already doing much to tackle the issues that are encouraging irregular migration.

“We are also fighting corruption, insecurity and trying to revive the economy.” Dabiri added.

CelebritiesBanky W Cancer Free! Musician Thanks God For Keeping Him Alive by Ekiti360(op): 7:34am On Jun 02, 2018
Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi’s husband, musician Olubankole Wellington aka Banky W has revealed how he overcame his battle with cancer before his wedding.

The EME boss, who was just made the ambassador for Pink Oak Trust, said God and availability of sufficient funds saw him through his battle with the killer disease.

His words:

“Many people know about my own battles with cancer. I’m forever grateful to God that I am alive and well, and that I was able to fund the treatment I needed.

Unfortunately, over 90,000 Nigerians die every year due to cancer. This is simply because they can’t afford to fight it. Treatment is expensive and so many people die because they’re just unable to pay for surgery, pills, chemo etc.

That has to change, and the more of us that contribute, the better. It would be great if one person donated N100 million. But it would be just as great, and even more powerful, if one million people gave N100 each.”

SportsLionel Messi Overtakes Ronaldo, Sets New South American Record by Ekiti360(op): 12:03pm On May 31, 2018
Lionel Messi, the Argentina and Barcelona football star, has overtaken a Brazil legend Ronaldo Nazario among the top goalscorers in South American history.

He now needs only 14 more goals to become the all-time record scorer, according to Soccer Laduma.

The Argentine netted a hat-trick in his side’s 4-0 friendly win over Haiti on Wednesday morning, taking his overall tally for the Albiceleste to 64 goals.

In doing so, he bettered the record of Selecao forward Ronaldo, who retired with 62 strikes for Brazil.

Three-time World Cup champion Pele, who sits in seventh spot in the worldwide all-time ranking, is the only South American player to have scored more than Messi.

Pele retired with 77 goals for Brazil, which means Messi needs to score 14 more times to overtake the legendary striker.

The Blaugrana attacker also extended his own record as Argentina’s all-time record scorer, and is now 10 strikes ahead of second-placed Gabriel Batistuta. Sergio Aguero, who scored his country’s fourth goal in the 4-0 win over Haiti, follows in third place with 38 strikes.

Argentina face Israel next, on June 9, in their final friendly ahead of the 2018 World Cup, before starting their tournament against Iceland on June 16.
