interesting. |
It is easy to reject the salary if you are already rich. Would he or anyone do the same if they'd moved from a 9-5 to the governorship? |
Why wasn't the national minimum wage implemented at this mine? |
Disappointing words. Is he Governor Jonah Jang or Pastor Jonah Jang? |
Seun: Mark Zuckerberg is ambitious and growth-oriented (doesn't care much about profit). You sell yourself short, Seun. There is a lot that you can do with Nairaland to make it even more impactful than it is now. |
Yes. Both have/had lots of skill. But this is pretty obvious |
Employers? They are pretty much all pro-immigration, no? Especially of high-skilled workers (e.g. H-1B visa workers) |
I've said this before, and I'll say it again. The path to emancipation for the black man is kicking azz at things that are valuable in this world. (Well, let me not say the path, I think it is one of the better paths.) 60s-style black pantherism is cool and all...but the time you spend on that would probably be better used in adding important skills that will make you more money. Or if not adding skills to your own life, helping your little sister/cousin with her math homework, so that she is one of the best in her class at this subject. Or reading a challenging book with a 4 or 5 year old kid. Stuff like that makes more of an impact, imo. |
Of course, not saying that there isn't discrimination in the US. But for the most part, this is a pretty sweet country if you have certain skills. You can be black, gay, etc...largely speaking employees don't care. If you can make them money, they want you. |
Rossikk: You're very naive. ''Partnering'' while black graduates in America are three times more likely to be unemployed than white graduates? When black graduates are three times more likely to be paid less than white grads for doing the same job?black americans are more likely to get degrees in courses of study that don't pay very much money. I don't think this particular aspect is really discrimination. Nobody will want to pay a sociology, history, or an african-american studies very much money. It isn't like they'll be increasing the profitability of your business, in most cases. Your options to make a lot of money after such a course is...i guess med or law school? And given that blacks for whatever reason seem to prefer these courses to science and engineering, then... |
wetin concern the various monkeys in this thread with the matter? Neither of the groups mentioned are yours, are they? |
y2kaustin: ,..Laptop No.15,reportin 4 duty!,stil expectin back up,4rm d rest squad memberslmao ![]() Me? Kind of surprising that you'd call me that, given my tendency to dislike GEJ. |
So to be clear, when I made my initial posts, I had the wrong idea about T&Ts demographics. Given those demographics, GEJs comments were ill-advised. It would be like a Yoruba man from Benin Republic coming to Nigeria and advocating only for Yoruba, not for Nigerians as a whole. |
So what I now wonder is, why did I have the impression that T&T was a majority black country? I guess almost all of the trinis I meet are black, not Indian...so I had the wrong idea. Hrm, interesting. |
Heh, the comments people made in the article are pretty harsh. This one I found interesting: That is what I am keep saying we are Trinis, forget the race thing focus on economic development and diversification all this race talk only benefits the politicians who continue to deliver poor governance. |
emiye: So many unsustainable policiesIndeed. There is a big difference between playing the role of Father Christmas, and actually being a governor. What is wrong with them buying their work clothes out of their salary, like 99.5% of other white collar employees on this planet do? |
How did they become christian militants. Is their militancy in the name of Christ...or in the name of cash/resource control/self-aggrandizement/etc? Or is every act committed by a Christian a "Christian" act? If a Christian runs a red light, is he doing so for religious reasons? Should he then be compared with a boko haram terrorist blowing himself up in the name of allah?Na wa for the way some of you reason |
Basic: Dangote's support notwithstanding, Oshiomhole would still have won convincingly. It's like saying "Dangote donated N1 billion for the sun to shine". Whether he donates or not, will the sun not shine? Next thread please... ![]() |
EzeUche: I think it is racist to the people of Trinidad because that country is half black and half Indian. This is a good point. I forgot about it. Yeah, given that T&T is a diverse country, GEJ should have been more careful. But if it had been a mostly black country he were visiting, then the remarks shouldn't have been seen as offensive. |
It is a "racialist" statement. But it is not a "racist" one. Saying that black people should stop sucking and start winning doesn't sound racist to me. He isn't putting anyone else down. If it is a racist statement, then which race(s) should be offended by it? |
What is wrong with his statement? What is racist about it? |
So perhaps this question has already been asked. But where did they get these machine guns from? Who sold it to them? How did it enter the country? If the guns have been captured, surely there is some sort of identifying information that will allow us to answer these questions... |
A 6 million dollar paid vacation on an island paradise and they managed to fvck it up due to misconduct? Brainless |
Thoughts? |
LONDON - Andre Iguodala is competing in his first Olympics here. But he might have been able to play in 2004 and 2008, if he'd wanted to. Thing is, he wouldn't have been playing with Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. He would have been playing against them. Iguodala's father is Nigerian. So he was invited to try out for - and in this case, "try out for" means "make" - the Nigerian Olympic squad. That team, which includes Penn grad Koko Archibong, will compete in these Games with nine American-born players on its roster. This is the first time Nigeria qualified for the Olympics, but with Iguodala aboard, who knows if the team would have made it sooner? "They've been trying to get here for a long time now," Iguodala said. "They've gotten here and they want to prove that they belong. They even had training camp in Dallas, in the States. It's interesting. I've gotten calls from them a few times about participating." In 2004, the first time he was called, Iguodala was preparing for his rookie season with the 76ers. But that wasn't what kept him from saying yes to a unique opportunity. "It was always my dream to play for the USA team," Iguodala said. "That's where I grew up. "I never gave it any serious thought. It didn't feel right to me. I've never been there. I've never really had a chance to experience their culture, only from the outside looking in because of my father." Iguodala said he remembers the 1992 Olympic team - the original Dream Team - better than any of its successors. He was only 8, but he remembered Jordan, Magic, and Barkley more clearly than he remembered, say, the 2004 team that lost to Argentina. That defeat sparked the reorganization of USA Basketball under Jerry Colangelo and coach Mike Krzyzewski. The Americans' record is 54-1 in international competition since then. The Americans are prohibitive favorites to win the gold medal. They are also virtual rock stars, even among the other elite athletes gathered here. Of course, Iguodala is more like the bass player than the lead singer or guitar hero. During Friday's news conference, James and Bryant sat on a stage with dozens of reporters at their feet. Iguodala shared a small riser in the back with Kevin Love. The day before, Iguodala and his teammates were mobbed during a visit to the Athletes Village. http://articles.philly.com/2012-07-28/sports/32907372_1_sixers-iguodala-lolo-jones-olympics#ixzz21wb3lDc8 |

Thanks for your words...but I'm a dude |
very misleading title........ |
lmao |
Goldieluks: The bitter truth is that there's no way Nigerians can withstand the Americans,Today, yes. 30 years from now, the story may be very different. Rome was not built in a day. Neither was a nation good at basketball.... |
