If you want to put her in a nursing home, you might as well let her stay home, hire a nurse to look atfer her at home.
Nursing home is a lot cheaper than your proposal, no? |
Yeah I have no problems doing this. They took care of me, so only fair to reciprocate.. |
damn ![]() plummeting property prices...can't be a good look |

Very good move. Of course, don't guarantee any random company's borrowing, but only those of legitimate, reputable firms who actually can take on what they say they'll be borrowing the money to execute. |

Wielding Fire, Islamists Target Nigeria Schools By ADAM NOSSITER MAIDUGURI, Nigeria — The teenager in the immaculate white robe stood in the ruins of what had been his school. There were no classrooms, no desks or chairs, no intact blackboards — there was, in fact, no longer any reason for him to be there. Yet the teenager, Aruna Mustapha, and a friend had come to sign in anyway, just as they did every morning before the fire, expressing a hunger for education and a frustration with the insurgents bent on preventing it. “We can’t stay at home any longer; we want to come to school, to learn,” explained Aruna, 16. “I’m fed up. I want to be in school.” The insurgent violence stalking northern Nigeria has struck a long list of official targets, killing police and army officers, elected officials, high-ranking civil servants, United Nations workers and other perceived supporters of the Nigerian government. Now it has an ominous new front: a war against schools. Why not just let people do what they want? Those who don't want to travel by night shouldn't. And those who do should be able to. Live and let live.. |
lateef4me: Today, we depend 90 per cent on petrodollars and by military fiat, the income comes from the Niger Delta and goes straight into the federation account from where it is distributed among the 36 states of the federation. The revenues from cocoa, coffee and groundnuts etc in those days were never sent into the federation account. Every region made its own money and spent it as it liked. We have now reversed the logic. More so, if all we are seeking is that more money should come from federation account, where is the need to make internal revenue efforts? If you have a population of 4.1 million people, where is the creativity to turn this into an asset rather than a liability? Does the rest of Nigeria have the responsibility of taking care of your children for you? It is corporate social responsibility, we were told. I don’t buy that argument. It is politics. If we have to cut cost, donations must be included. That’s simple logic. It is ironic, isn’t it, that the same CBN spent nearly a billion naira to acquire a piece of land to expand the governor’s residence. Prudence indeed.Simon Kolawole is a G. |
Well Jakumo is wrong. There was once a time when Kano was of economic significance, at least within West Africa and Nigeria. Of course, the world has changed, and some have not learned to adapt to this change.. |
If you brushed your teeth well the previous night before you went to sleep, then usually isn't so bad kissing in the morning. |
yes, it was senseless two men too proud and arrogant to put aside their disagreements for the greater good. The whole thing reflects very poorly on both Awo and Akintola, imo. |
dabigwalls: Kano, Bauchi, Borno = Good bye to Foreign Direct Investments. Till 2027.Yep. And no FDI = slow economic growth, slow job creation, higher unemployment, etc. |
lol |
The beginning of a downward spiral.. |
Nice. Btw, GE is an American firm, not British. Thomas Edison.. |
lol. they don't want even 90% derivation on minerals. What they want is a bigger chunk of oil money. na wa o. Very foolish and lazy elders |
It isn't an issue if "should" or "should not." He who pays the piper dictates the tune. Thus, the US, Europe and in the future China will decide who runs these international organizations. After all, it is their money being used to fund these orgs. |
Well university typically takes 4-5 years. If HND takes 5 years too, why not just merge/unify the two systems? What is the reason for having two separate tracks? I was imagining HND = like a 2 year associates degree that one can get from say a community college. Here (in the us and possibly canada too) the way it works is: high school (secondary school) 4 year university or high school 2 year associates degree from community college optionally, transfer from community college into university, spend another 2-3 years obtaining the bachelor's I like this system more because you can erase any stigma associated with community college just by transferring to a university and performing well. |
Put her on a diet. Have her pick up a sport, or buy a treadmill/exercise bike, or get her a gym membership. There is no real reason for her to be getting fat as a stay-at-home wife.. |
Q: They want Nigeria to split. Split into what exactly? A: Several new countries. |
During the Governor’s working visit, he also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of Kosovo to build an Independent Power Plant and establish an Agro Processing Plant in the state.Eh...does Kosovo's government have the funds or expertise to build power plants? Here is a novel and radical idea...why not sign a deal with a company that actually builds power plants? |
Granted Kosovo independence? Wtf? |
Is HND a 2 or 4+ year degree? |
Actually, it looks like you are right. There is just a delay of some sort between you actually logging out and your status being reflected say on your profile. I checked after 5 minutes and noticed that it was then correct. |
OAM4J: Oh no! I think I get your problem now. You are confusing the "Time spent online" on your profile to mean you are continuously logged on.So what I did to verify that logout doesn't work was: 1) Open my profile in one tab (https://www.nairaland.com/ekt_bear) 2) Click logout 3) Refresh profile, observing that it still says "Currently online" This is why I say that there is a bug...clicking logout doesn't necessary log you out, it seems. |
At OP: This is probably wishful thinking. The language groups probably started diverging several thousand years ago. So doesn't really make sense to say they are close or anything |
Kudos to him. Very impressive. |
The World Bank is primarily funded by the US and Europe, right? If so, then no one should really be in any position to tell them who leads that organization.. |
Interesting thread. |
