I think that for the most part, the relevant ethnic groups/peoples should be able to decide what they want to do. Seems kind of strange to implicitly assume that they have no say.. |
No way Opera is worth anything close to 13 billion. Not even a $1 billion company.. |
I understand spoken Yoruba fairly well, but my spoken is poor and I can't really read it. I've heard of Ebenezer Obey...but certainly as a kid I wouldn't have been into music that people of my parent's generation/age like. I mostly listened/watched music I saw on TV or heard on the radio. So I tend to like rap, reggae, rock, reggaeton, some country, stuff like that. |
Imo, just make the site skinnable. Let each user decide for himself what theme/skin he wants for the site. Create various CSS files that control the theme, then let users pick which one they want enabled.. |
Nope, never heard of it before the OP posted it. |
Heh. That is a pretty nice story actually. |
Yeah, you seem to be way off Abagworo. Read this, follow the various references: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Cameroon I really wonder where you got that number from, since it not consistent with more likely sources. |
4 million igbos in cameroon? I.e., 20% of their population? doesn't seem likely.. |
Ok, so 60 million+ Swahili speakers, lingua franca of eastern africa, a national language of the DRC. So like I said, this is somewhat surprising. |
heh. |
Yeah but you'd imagine that the population of Yoruba speakers outside of Nigeria is a fraction of that within Nigeria. Isn't the population of Swahili speakers like 200 mil? Or some huge number. Surprising that a language spoken by probably no more than 50 or 60 million people on earth has more articles. |
More articles than even Swahili? Nice. |
Well done, Seun. A competition like this is a great way to motivate people to learn programming. |
koruji: They are planning a coup.Yep. GEJ should take appropriate preemptive measures to protect himself. In any case, the international community will not support military coup in Nigeria, after 13 years of democracy... So even if they successfully pulled it off, it'd be a very short victory. |
Heh. I wonder how effective this will be. Surely Iran will not have difficulty finding some buyer for its oil. Somebody who is isn't dependent on America will surely bite the bullet. India for the most part isn't intertwined economically with the US, right? |
I bind the evil spirits that inhabit Nairaland with the blood of Jesus ![]() |
Interesting thread. |
May God bless this young woman |
1. His comment about sourcing funds from alums is good...I wish this practice were more prevalent in the country. 2. His comment about hostels makes no sense to me. That has nothing to do with education..yes, obviously the private sector can handle accommodations. But that typically is not the major extra expense in university education anyways... 3. Regarding his comment about "investors"...well there is no money to be made sending poor people to college. If you want to privatize Nigerian federal universities, then obviously fees will shoot up dramatically to make up for the shortfall. Meaning that such schools will be less affordable for the poor. So if one wants to make these things accessible to the poor, you have to provide something like merit scholarships, loans, etc. |
Well if someone is a known liar, the onus then is on them to back up what they say with facts. Not for other folk to prove that the liar isn't lying this particular time.. |
texazzpete: This is false report and a thorough misunderstanding of RIM's statement today.Nah. They are dying. Read this, for example: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303404704577312010085459278.html |
Dying company. Then again, they've been dying slowly for months now. Even as of August or so, it should have been clear they'd get their azz kicked by iPhones and Droids |
Well you cannot blame anyone for taking anything bashr8 says/posts with a grain of salt, since he is already known to be shamelessly dishonest |
Can we see state by state numbers, as well as very importantly pass rates by state? The latter result last time was especially interesting |
Of the BRICS, only China is big enough economically to really have a voice in the IMF. The others are small fries. Even India...how much money do they contribute to the IMF anyways? |
I for one am not particularly upset. Up UPGA! ![]() |
Lawal Kaita: "If you don't do what I say, I will reward you with chocolate" ekt_bear: "Get ready to hand over the chocolate man" |
daroz: This is the dumbest comment I have ever seen on nairaland. Completely disconnected from the topic. pple dull shallAbi o |
Good that C-river is Well done. |
simplebussy: so that the illiterate APGA voters wld likely vote for UPGA. lolyeah i also found his choice of name funny. It is like in "Coming to America", the dude's burger restaurant is named MacDonald's or something ![]() |
Did you look at the before picture? Anyone in his position would take all of those possible side effects in a heartbeat in order to look and feel normal again. Imagine being a recluse due to horrible disfigurement during some of the prime years of your life (20s and 30s). No women, no friends, no job, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts. |
